Mogul Rising Saga Episode 3: Doubts and Comforts
Up in the sky and returning to New Mobotropolis, Sonic, Bunnie, and Antoine are riding the Tornado back home. The sun is now in the sky to begin the day. Sonic is standing on the wing of the plane with a smile on his face.
Sonic sighs, "It's going to be nice getting back to the city."
"I agree with Sugarhog, hope the others are able to do fine while we're gone," Bunnie says.
"I do hope so. You may never know what could happen while we are away," Antoine says, worried.
"Come on Ant, I doubt anything is going to happen within the time we're gone. I'm sure the gang are going to be happy to see us coming home," Sonic says.
"Well then you better hang on Sugar, I see the city up ahead," Bunnie says.
Sonic and Antoine to see New Mobotropolis up ahead.
At the Airfield, Sally, Sonia, and Manic are waiting for Sonic, and the D' Coolette to return, but are holding worried expressions on their faces.
Sally turns to Sonia, "Have Eve come out of her room?"
"No. And we tried everything," Sonia says.
"And we mean everything. Even going out for Chili Dogs and having band practice, but nothing works. I think what happened messed her up really bad," Manic says.
"I was afraid of this. First the incident with Enerjak and what happened with Mammoth Mogul. Eve must have been so upset, especially what he has done," Sally says.
"Did you tell Amy and the others about it?" Sonia asks.
"I did. Amy and the other Freedom Fighters aren't very happy about what happened," Sally says.
"What about your dad? I hope he's not upset about Eve and the others breaking into the castle and taking the Chaos Emerald," Sonia says.
"He uh, wasn't happy at first, especially Mammoth Mogul getting away. When I explained what happened that night, I decided to let it slide, on Eve and the others' action, but… I'm worried about his anger. I wouldn't blame him about being upset for what Mogul has done," Sally says.
"I hate to think what Sonic will think and do when he finds out," Manic says.
Sonia looks up in the sky, "It will be sooner than you think, he's the Tornado now."
Sally and Manic look up to see the Tornado coming in for a landing at the Runway. The Tornado lands on the ground as it comes to a stop. When the plane stops completely, Sonic and the others jump off to great Sally, Sonia, and Manic.
"Hey guys, we're back," Sonic says.
Bunnie says, "We got the supplies delivered without a hitch."
"And Rob O' wanted us to tell him that he says hello," Antoine says.
"So how have you been while we're gone? Hope you all weren't too bored?" Sonic asks.
Sally and the two Hedgehogs look at each other in concern. Sonic, Bunnie, and Antoine notice the worried and sad looks on their faces.
Bunnie says, "I know that look Sally girl, something happened while we're going? Hasn't it."
"Yes. Something did happen, and well… you're not going to like it, especially you Sonic," Sally says, turning to Sonic.
"Why? What happened?" Sonic asks.
Sally says, concern, "Well uh.. It happened like this."
Sally, Sonia, and Manic explain what Eve, Ash, Cosmo, and Ray have told them about what happened and how Mighty, Mina, and Tails end up getting involved.
That causes Sonic to exclaim in shock, "WHAT?!"
Meanwhile, in her room, Eve is still laying down in her bedroom. She is holding a sad expression on her face. She's still shocked and upset about what happened the night before.
Eve sadly says, "What a mess. First the incident with Enerjak, and now all this happened with Mammoth Mogul. How could Sonic and I let this happen?"
Jazz who is sitting next to her on the bed and sadly says, "Chao Chao. Chao Chao Chao."
Sitting next to her is Shun who is slightly tugging on her Dreadlock.
Jazz says, "Ma ma. Ma Ma."
Eve sadly says, "I'm sorry little ones, I'm just still shocked about what happened last night."
"Chao Chao Chao Chao Chao," Jazz angrily says.
Eve sits up and says, "No Jazz. I don't think you should go confront him yourself. He is very powerful with the Chaos Emerald. On top of that, we have no clue where he is."
"Chao," Jazz says, sitting on the bed with a pout.
Eve sadly smiles, "I know Jazz. You're still upset on what you learned last night, but I'm sure we'll figure something else."
She sadly sighs, "I just wish I knew how."
Little Shun begins to get fussy and begins to cry a little. Eve sits up and holds him in her arms. Then, she begins to rock him. She then hums a little tune.
At Freedom HQ, Sally calls a meeting about what happened from last night. Mighty, Mina, and Tails, including Eve are the only ones who aren't at the meeting. Of course, it doesn't change the fact that the Freedom Fighters are crossed about what happened that very night.
"And that's what happened, and Eve is still pretty upset about it," Sally says.
Sonic angrily says, "What that evil conniving backstabbing…"
Amy slams her hands on the table and angrily says,"I can't believe Mogul would do something that terrible! That creep!"
"Amy, you need to calm down," Sally says.
"Why should I. That rotten Ixis Sorcerer took control of Tails, Mighty and Mina, and then forced Eve to carry his dirty work!" Amy says.
"Amy, we know you're upset, but getting angry isn't going to help with the problem," Galaxina says.
"I suppose you're right," Amy says.
"I just feel bad for Eve. She must have been so upset about what happened," Bunnie says.
"I know. And Eve doesn't feel like leaving her room at all," Sonia says.
"Poor Eve. She was still very upset about it," Cosmo says.
"And Mighty, Tails, and Mina are still not happy about it either. Ash is with them to give them some support," Ray says.
"But what can we do? We don't even know where Mogul, Naugus, and the Hooligans are at as of now," Sonia asks.
Sonic stands up and says, "I'll be right back."
Sonic then begins to head towards the entrance.
"Wait Sonic, where are you doing?" Rotor asks.
"To find that rotten Mogul and teach him a lesson for using Mighty, Mina, Tails and Eve for his plan and making Eve cry," Sonic says.
"But Sonic, you don't know where he is," Sally says.
"But he deserves it!" Sonic says.
"I know, but you don't know where he is, and Mogul is pretty powerful with that Chaos Emerald with him," Manic says.
"Yeah. You're right," Sonic says.
He then sighs, "I guess, I also kind of blame myself. If I would've taken Mogul's demand, none of this would have happened. And yet, Eve did suspect Mogul up to something, but I didn't suspect that he is even a bigger problem."
"I think none of us did. It just shows that Mogul is even more powerful than we all thought and we need to be more cautious when we're around him, especially since the last time we encountered him," Sally says.
"I do hope Eve is doin' alright," Bunnie says.
In her bedroom, Eve brings her backpack and puts her Power Rings, some of her lunch, baby supplies, and other needs. She decides to go on a little trip to clear her head. Since Jazz and Shun want to come, she can't say no. Her parents say it's alright, but can't be out too late. Eve then puts the carrier on and puts Shun on it. Then Jazz sits on Eve's head. Eve then tosses the Warp Ring on the ground and it opens.
Eve then turns to Jazz and Shun, "Alright you two, we're ready to go… to Angel Island."
Eve then jumps through the portal and it closes behind her. And the Warp Ring transports Eve to her destination.
Back at Freedom HQ, Sonic and the others are having a disagreement on what to do about the situation.
Sonic says, "I think she should do it!"
"Yeah. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't?!" Amy asks, holding her large Piko Hammer.
"The guy's a total jerk," Manic says.
Sonia sighs and says, "I agree that what Mogul did was really bad, and that we shouldn't let him get away with it. But we're not going to let Amy use her Extra Large Piko Hammer on him."
"Can I least use my normal Piko Hammer?" Amy asks.
"No!" Sonia and Sally angrily answer.
Amy crosses her arms with a huff.
"I'm sure we'll think of something. Until then, let's try to relax for the timer thing and do what we can here. And hopefully try to be there for Eve," Sally says.
The Freedom Fighters agree with the idea, but Sonic is still worried about Eve and how she has to go through something awful.
Sonic sighs, "I better go talk to her. I hope she feels alright."
Then begins to walk to where Eve's house is.
Meanwhile, over the ruins of Albion, Knuckles the Echidna is still having his own problems. He is still feeling strong remorse about what happened to the Echidnas. Despite the well known fact that Finitevus was behind everything with the Enerjak Reborn and what really happened to Albion, Knuckles feels very guilty.
Knuckles says in his thoughts, "This is all my fault everyone was counting on me to protect them. Now the great city of Echindaopolis is forever gone and the birthplace of my people is just a husk. Albion will be safe enough for the last few Echidnas on Mobius. They'll be safe from me."
Knuckles looks down to see Remington who is helping to instruct the Echidnas with the construction of the city.
Knuckles thinks, "If there's any good from all this, it's that Remington got his life back. He's the real reason my people are doing so well in Albion. Sure, it was my power that restored him, but…"
Knuckles then looks down to see his family, "... One good deed makeup for all I did as Enerjak. How can I face my mother and the family she's managed to create when I sent them all to those ruins? Maybe it was better when I wasn't trying to protect everyone. Hopefully my people can live safely in secret here… without a Guardian hovering over them."
Knuckles then tosses a Warp Ring and begins to fly into it as it enlarges, creating a portal. Down below, Lara-Le and Wynmacher are playing with little Mace. Mace looks up in the sky and happily waves his hand and moves his rattle at front.
He then happily says, "Na-na!"
"What? You see…" Lara-Le questions looking up in the sky.
She and Wynmacher look up to see a flash of light and it disappears.
Lara-Le suspects, "...Knuckles?"
"Bah-bah, Na-Na!" Mace happily says, waving to his big brother that disappears.
Lara-Le saddens as her husband places his hand on her shoulder.
Back at New Mobotropolis, Sonic is talking to Cloud-Ra and Obsidian, hoping to see Eve. Only to discover that is not possible.
"Eve left?! Where did she go?!" Sonic asks, shocked.
"Eve said she is going to Angel Island to clear her head. I feared she still feels rather responsible about what happened the night before," Obsidian says.
"Dang. I was hoping to talk to her. I gotta find her," Sonic says.
"I know Sonic, but maybe it will be a good idea for Eve to give her time to herself. She also has Shun and Jazz with her, "Obsidian says.
She then shows sadness in her eyes, "Eve has suffered and her heart is in turmoil. I'm sure that it will be mended and will lead her to what she thinks she should do. So do not worry, I'm sure Eve will return in due time."
"If you say so," Sonic says, concerned.
"Thank you Sonic," Obsidian says.
"Okay. I'll see you later," Sonic says.
Sonic then leaves the house and walks around the city. He lets out a sad sigh and continues to think about what happened.
Sonic says, "I do hope Eve is alright. Maybe she'll see the Chaotix and maybe she can talk to the girls about it."
On Angel Island, Eve is walking around the forest to go to a specific place.
Eve looks to Shun, "Okay Shun, I'm planning on taking you to the Chao Garden where Jazz lives."
Shun begins to giggle and waves his arms around.
Jazz happily says, "Chao Chao."
Eve continues to walk through the forest to get to the Chao Garden. Hopefully being there will make her feel better. Soon enough, Eve reaches the Chaos Garden to see the many Chaos playing and having fun. From the looks of it, despite everything that has happened on the island, the Chao Garden is undisturbed. The many Chaos turn to see Eve with Jazz and Shun.
Jazz happily says, "Chao Chao."
Jazz then flies to the other Chaos as they fly to her. Jazz and the Chaos talk with smiles on their faces, and glad to see each other again. Then the Chaos fly to Eve with smiles on their faces.
Eve smiles and says, "Hello Chaos. How are you doing?"
The Chaos smile with glee. Eve then walks to the tree and brings out a blanket to spread it next to the trunk. She sits down as she lays her back on it. Eve also takes Shun off the carrier and places him on it. Little Shun then lays down and smiles to see the Chaos sitting next to him. Eve sighs and begins to smile. She sees the Chaos playing, having food, sleeping or smelling the flowers. She feels the breeze in the air and the scent of flowers and the look of the fruits around. Eve feels at ease, and soon, she begins to sing.

The Chaos begins to smile and cheer for Eve for the song she is singing.
"Thank you. It's mostly the first and second verse of the song, but I'm still working on it," Eve says.
She then begins to sing again.

Eve then brings out her flute and plays a small tune that matches with the song she is singing. Then sings again.

(The stars are shining…)
Min'na wo terasu
(And lighting up everyone…)
The Chaos feels very relaxed and show big smiles on their faces. Soon, Eve begins to smile too and feels at ease.
Somewhere on Angel Island, there is a large place known as Sandopolis Oasis. That's where all the Dingoes are forced to live when Enerjak sends them away. The Dingoes are doing their best to make the most of what they have. In one of the tents is General Styker who is going over some plans for the Dingoes.
A white bird on his shoulder turns his head and says, "Stand-to, Helmut! You've got some unexpected company!"
General Stryker turns his head to see a Warp Ring fully open and Knuckles walks out of it.
He calmly walks in and asks, "General Von Stryker."
"Guardian Knuckles, come to ensure we're struggling?" Stryker says, sounding bitter.
"No, I…" Knuckles about to answer.
But Stryker says, "I'm happy to disappoint. After Enerjak tossed my army out here to share my exile, I took back control. We found this Oasis and we're thriving. The water is clear, the sand worm hunting is good, and it's only a matter of time until we make our way back into the interior of Angel Island."
Knuckles looks to see it for himself; it seems the Dingoes are able to create a life in the desert part of the island.
And I welcome you back. It's the least I can do after what I did to your people in the first place," Knuckles says.
"What you did? It was Enerjak that…" Stryker says.
Knuckles then says, "General, I was Enerjak. And during that time I betrayed everything the Guardians stoof for. I came to apologize for what I did to your city, and your son."
"My s… Kage was a traitor. Your frankness is… refreshing for an Echidna. You can expect to see my army on the return before long," Stryker says.
Knuckles doesn't have anything else to say, except, "I understand. Thank you for your time, general."
Knuckles then walks through the Warp Ring and it closes behind him. General Styker sighs about everything that has happened.
At the Master Emerald Shrine, Julie-Su and the rest of the Chaotix are fixing up the shrine after the Enerjak incident, and they are also worried about Knuckles too.
Charmy flies over and says, "I'm sorry Julie-Su. He used his Warp Ring and lost him."
Julie-Su sighs, "You did your best, Charmy. If Knux doesn't want to be found, there isn't much we can do."
"Locke did say that it will be best to give Knuckles some time alone, and give him some time to think. I'm sure Knuckles will know what to do in due time," Espio says.
"Yeah. But Knuckles has been very down lately. I do hope the guy is able to get his confidence back," Vector says.
Unknown to them, Knuckles is spying on them from the bushes.
Knuckles says to himself, "The bridge is finished… maybe they'll go back to New Mobotropolis."
Knuckles sighs and begins to walk through the forest. Suddenly, he begins to pick up on what sounds lovely and interesting.

Knuckles looks around asd he thinks, "What is that music? And Why does the voice sound familiar?"
Curious about the music, Knuckles decides to walk through the forest to see who is making the music.

Knuckles continues through the forest as he suspects, "The music seems to be coming from the Chao Garden, but who could be there."
Knuckles continues to walk through the forest and hears the sound of a flute.

Knuckles then peaks through the bushes and is surprised to see Eve with Jazz and Shun sitting on a blanket. Eve stands up as she walks and the Chaos flying around.

The Chaos continue to smile as they hear Eve sing. Knuckles is also amazed to hear Eve singing and now she is beginning to dance.

Eve continues to dance as she releases Chaos Energy flying from her body. And the Chaos fly around her with smiles.

Eve stops singing and bows her head, and the Chao including Jazz clap and cheer with smiles on their faces. Suddenly, he hears a different applause all together. She turns her head to see Knuckles the Echidna.
He says with a smile, "That's a good song."
"Thanks Knuckles. It's only the first four verses, but I'm getting there," Eve says.
Soon, there is a moment of silence between them.
Eve soon asks, "So um, how are you doing?"
"Not very great. You?" Knuckles answers.
"Not doing well since last night, but I'm feeling a little better now," Eve says.
She then saddens and asks, "Got a minute?"
A little explanation letter of last night's incident, Knuckles is shocked to hear what happened to Eve, and the others, including Mighty.
"I… I can't believe Mogul would do that. He even made you give you the Chaos Emerald," Knuckles says, sounding angry.
"Yeah. And I'm not happy about it either. I'm glad that Mina, Tails, and Mighty's lives were spared from this, but I just can't believe I let him use me like that," Eve says.
"I can imagine," Knuckles says.
"So how are you feeling about uh, what happened?" Eve asks.
Knuckles sighs, "Not any better. I felt that I should just stick to my heritage, even if it's by myself. It will be safe for everyone. Things were managed on Angel Island back when I was here all the time. If I hadn't left, Dr. Finitevus never would've gotten the Master Emerald, my people wouldn't be nearly extinct, I wouldn't have lost control of my powers… and you wouldn't have suffered from Finitevus' Hex."
"I understand. Then again, after what happened with what Mogul did. I felt that I knew exactly how you felt. If I wouldn't have figured out what Mogul was planning or given his demand sooner, Mina, Tails, and Mighty wouldn't have been possessed. Sonic decided to brush Mogul's demand and I suspect something was up. I felt that I should have done more, then Mogul wouldn't have got the Emerald, gain back his powers, and free Naugus and the Hooligans. And then, Mighty, Mina, and Tails wouldn't have been endangered," Eve says.
"But you couldn't have known that. You didn't know that Mogul had Mighty, Tails, and Mina marked. And you didn't know that Mogul is able to use some weird magic to control them. Sure it wasn't smart for Sonic to brush it off and that he should have listened to you, but you both had no idea what he was planning," Knuckles says.
Eve calmly smiles, "I guess you're right, but isn't that the same goes for your situation as well."
Knuckles becomes a bit confused.
Then Eve explains, "Well, you never knew that Dr. Eggman was going to Angel Island to try to get the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds, and his Eggman Empire junk is going to appear. And none of us could have known what Finitevus is thinking."
She sighs, "Even I couldn't imagine what is up with that creep."
"That may be true, but Angel Island survived countless disasters under past Guardians, who's to say their ways wouldn't work now,"Knuckles says.
"Given their history, I think that since they're gone, it kind of shows how well their way of protection is. They barely did anything to stop Dr. Eggman from what is happening, they didn't do anything to investigate the manipulation within the council and when the Dark Legion was involved, even back then. Their method only lasts for so long and now the situation among them has only gotten worse, and not just for the Brotherhood, but for the Dark Legion as well," Eve says.
"Never expected you to say something like that," Knuckles says.
"I guess. However, it made me realize that I can't let what happened get to me. Despite everything that happened to me and my family, even when I remembered everything, I refused to allow all of it to change me, and not going to allow me to stop doing what I think is right. I admit, I was devastated after what Mogul has done, but I'm not going to let what happened stop me on what I believed is right," Eve says.
Then says, "I'm not saying that you should give up on Angel Island, but you can't give up fighting below either. You joined us so that way you can help protect as much as you can. It's something I learned that you may not be able to protect everyone, but that doesn't mean you can't stop helping and protecting others. And there will be others who think the same who are willing to join the fight, like you and the Chaotix did. Just try to do your best to not only be a Guardian to help your people who live below, but also others the best way possible."
Knuckles is surprised to hear Eve saying things like that.
He then smiles and says, "Thanks Eve, I… I really needed to hear that. I don't think either of us should let it get to us. Still, thanks, for getting my head straight."
"Don't mention it. Now, I think you should go back to the Master Emerald altar, I'm sure the rest of the Chaotix are worried about you, and I suspect Julie-Su and Locke must be worried."
"Yeah," Knuckles says.
Then sighs, "But what am I going to do about my mom, Wynmacher and my baby brother. If my mom knew who Enerjak is and what happened…"
"I'm sure she understands. I think she'll be shocked that Finitevus played us for chumps and used you to become a powerful being to destroy the world," Eve says.
"I guess. But I'm just…" Knuckles says.
Eve says, "I understand. It will take some time, but it's good to start taking some small steps to help you to get through after what happened. I think seeing your friends will be a good start."
"Yeah. Again, thanks for clearing my head… more like we helped each other clear our heads," Knuckles says.
"You're welcome, and thanks for having this talk, I guess we just needed someone to talk too, especially if they're in a familiar situation," Eve says.
"Yeah," Knuckles says.
Eve and Knuckles hug each other with smiles on their faces and glad to have the troubles clear from their chest.
Later on, it's the evening in New Mobotropolis. A Warp Ring opens next to the Power Ring Pool. Then Eve comes out with Jazz flying next to her and Shun sleeping in the carrier. Eve then takes the ring and turns her head to see Sonic. He looks remorseful.
"Sonic?" Eve replies.
Sonic says, "Listen Eve, I'm sorry about what happened? You were right to suspect Mogul and I should have taken what he said seriously. I'm sorry you had to go through something like that."
Eve then hugs Sonic with a smile on her face.
"It's okay. I guess neither of us would have suspected what Mogul is up to. But next time you be more cautious when we're around enemies, especially with Mobians that use magic," Eve says.
"Yeah. Let's go, the others have been worried since you left," Sonic says.
"Sorry about that," Eve says.
Sonic and Eve then head off to go have the rest of the day to relax, and to have dinner for the night.
