The Solaris Saga Episode 4: Questions about Solaris and Hedgehogs
Receiving news about friends or family is not easy for anyone, especially for Shadow when he hears what happened to his sister. Team Dark and the Commander are in the meeting room and on the screen is Sally, Cream, and Nicole.
"Alright, you might want to tell us what's going on? What do you mean that Eve and the others are missing?" Shadow firmly demands.
"Sonic and Eve were attacked by some strange silver color hedgehog. They ran into the woods when Manic used one of his smoke bombs, and we already sent Amy and the others to begin the search," Sally says.
"Why would he attack them?" Rouge asks.
"It's very confusing. For what Sally and the other explains, he was planning to destroy them after calling them Iblis Triggers, I think," Cream says.
"Iblis Trigger?" Leon says, confused.
"We think it's talking about the Flames of Disaster that was written in the Legends of Soleanna. And Iblis was once part of the Solaris Project before it died out, and Mephiles from what Shadow and Eve explains, was a part of the Solaris Project," Sally says.
"So you think the creep Mephiles might be involved with that silver hedgehog?" Molly asks.
"It's possible. Sally and a few of us will be heading to the city to find out more about the Solaris Project, while the rest wait at the Blue Typhoon in case Sonic and Eve come back," Sally says.
"So you want us to help you find Sonic and Eve and also figure out if Mephiles was involved with this Solaris project," Rouge suspects.
"That seems to be the plan. We can't seem to find any data or sightings of a silver hedgehog that can use psychokinesis," Sally says.
Shadow then says, "I'll start finding Eve and Sonic."
Then turns to his team, "Molly, Omega, you're with me. Rouge, you and Leon will help the princess and the others to learn more about the Solaris Project."
"Will do," Rouge says.
"Got it," Leon says.
"Thank you. We could use all the help we can get. I know Sonic and Eve are two of our best Freedom Fighters, but I don't know if they can out run that silver hedgehog forever. We'll meet you in front of the entrance to the city," Sally says.
The call then hangs up soon after.
Shadow then begins to walk out the door, "It's best we head over to Soleanna as soon as possible."
The rest of Team Dark nod their heads, even Omega raises his arm agreeing to the idea.
Early the next day, Silver is able to find himself in the city of Soleanna again. He is sitting next to the stairs that leads to a beach as the sun rises into the sky. He is deep in thought about what happened the other night. He remembers seeing Sonic and Eve help each other, and Eve having a baby in her arms and the Chao flying next to her.
Behind him, Blaze walks over to Silver and says, "So this is where you are. I've been looking for you.
Silver turns his head to Blaze, but mostly turns back to see the ocean shore.
Blaze walks over and asks, "What's wrong?"
Blaze notices that Silver is pondering about something.
Silver sighs and says turning to Blaze, "Well, uh, Blaze. To kill someone to save the world…"
Then turns to the shore, "Is that really the right thing to do?"
Blaze then places her hands on her hips, disappointed, "You're so naive. Whether it's right or wrong, I can't really say…"
Silver then turns to Blaze, confused.
"But what I do know is…" Blaze says.
Then crosses her arms, "If we don't take this chance, the future will remain exactly as it is."
Then she turns her head down in little sadness, "Even if it is to my disliking."
"I know what you mean. I mean, that black hedgehog actually has a baby and a Chao with her, and even though I attacked the blue hedgehog, she defended him. They both must have cared for each other to defend each other like that," Silver says.
"I see," Blaze says.
"I'm just glad that girl hedgehog didn't use that sword at me. I might be in real trouble," Silver says.
Blaze turns to Silver and asks, "The black and red hedgehog, the hedgehog looks like."
"Well, from the appearance I saw in the emerald, she is black, but has red stripes on her quills and arms, she also has red eyes and dreadlocks like an echidna. She also has a scabbard with a sword inside," Silver says, describing the hedgehog.
Blaze sighs, "I was afraid of this."
"What do you mean, Afraid of this?" Silver asks, turning to Blaze with a confused expression.
Blaze lowers her head in concern.
Silver then asks, "Blaze, do you… do you know her?"
"Yes. I do. Her name is Eve. I met her a long time ago when I was a little girl, and met her again sometime ago in this time period," Blaze says.
"So… she's a friend of yours?" Silver asks, surprised.
"In a way. When I was young, Even ended up in the Sol Dimension by accident. Back then, Eve didn't remember anything about her past, and was adopted by her brother and his family, who she called Sonic. I think the blue hedgehog is her brother," Blaze says.
"Really?" Silver says, interested.
"Yes. When I met her again years later, Eve was able to remember who she was and found her family and has an older brother too. Of course, a lot has changed since I met Eve. She also told me that she also adopted a baby of her own named Shun. And has a baby brother and sister," Blaze says.
"So the baby she has could be either one of them?" Silver suspects.
"Yes," Blaze says.
Silver then asks, "When was well, the last time you saw her."
"Well, when I last met Eve, I was attacked by robots that belong to an enemy of hers, who she calls Dr. Eggman. They caught me unguard and tried to take me captive. Eve and her brother Sonic rescued me and took me to the hospital to get treatment. During that time, I was still on search for the Sol Emerald that were scattered and still searching for them," Blaze says.
"I remember. You ended up in Mobius in the future. You were attacked by the monster and that is how you and I first met," Silver says.
"Yes. Seems that it ended up being chance or fate that I ended up meeting hedgehogs during my travels. After learning what's been happening in your world. I've stayed with you for a little while to do what I can to help, since I have the power to control flames," Blaze says.
She then sighs, "Still, I find it hard to believe Eve is the Iblis Trigger, and don't know if we should take the chance."
"Hmm, still, I have to wonder why they would be the Iblis Trigger and how did it happen? Why would they have to destroy the world?" Silver says.
"Mephiles didn't give us much information about this. I have to be skeptical about his motive for telling us," Blaze says.
"I suppose, but you're right. Even though we don't like it, we can't risk not taking this chance. I'm sure we'll find them again and we'll find Mephiles so we can get some answers," Silver says.
Blaze nods her head and accompanies Silver to find the two hedgehogs and Mephiles.
Meanwhile, in the secret cavern, Sonic and Eve wake up and gather some food for their trip back to Soleanna.
"We better get going. Who knows how long it will be until Silver finds us," Sonic says.
"It will be best for us to head to the city's library. He mentions the Iblis Trigger which is also known as the Flames of Disaster. It could be connected to the Solaris Project from thousands of years ago," Eve says.
"Maybe so. It might also give us a good place to hide until we can contact the others," Sonic says.
"I was thinking the same thing. We might be able to find some clue about the Iblis Trigger. I know which library to go because Jet showed it to me a while back," Eve says.
"Alright Eve, let's go," Sonic says.
Jazz grabs hold of Eve's quill as Eve says, "Hang on tight, Jazz."
"You too, Shun. This is where the good part starts," Sonic says, petting the young spider's head.
Shun giggles with a smile on his face.
Sonic then says, "Alright, the last one to get to the city is a rotten egghead."
"You're on," Eve says with a grin.
Sonic and Eve then begin to use their super speed to get to the city and hopefully figure out their little mystery.
Somewhere in the sky and over the forest, Amy and her search team are looking for the two hedgehogs. They have split up into looking in different directions to cover more grounds. They search over their ends of the woods and ruins of Soleanna.
Manic asks through the com-link, "Yo dudes, I haven't found them at my end."
From Sonia's search, she answers to her brother, "I haven't found them either. I wonder if they were able to find a play to stay for the night."
"You're probably right, and they might have moved on by this time," Bunnie says.
"I agree. If Sonia and I know our cousins, they probably plan on searching for some answers or trying to find the silver hedgehog," Manic says.
"I agree. I think they might try to head to the city to figure out some information about the Solaris Project," Sonia says.
"Maybe, but it will be best if we look around the forest a little longer, just in case," Amy says.
"I must agree, but with them moving super quickly, it might be close to impossible to spot them," Antoine says.
"I do hope we find them," Bunnie says, worried.
"We have to try at any way we can. I'm sure Sonic and Eve were able to get away from that strange hedgehog and will be coming back at the Blue Typhoon or to the city," Amy says.
"Let's hope so," Sonia says.
The group then continues their search for the two hedgehogs.
Meanwhile, Sally, Maria, Rotor, Nicole, and Tails arrive at the entrance to the city waiting for Team Dark to arrive. Fiona, Nic and the others who remain stay at the Blue Typhoon in case Sonic and Eve return.
Tails turns his head and says, "There they are."
Sally and the others notice Shadow and the rest of Team Dark walking toward them.
Maria smiles as she hurries over, "Shadow."
Maria then hugs Shadow with a smile causing him to be surprised.
"Hi Shadow, how was your mission," Maria asks with a smile.
Shadow calms himself and says, "It went okay. And I'm glad to see you're doing okay too. But for now, we should worry about Eve."
"Yes. I… I want to help look for her," Maria says.
"You think you'll be okay?" Molly asks.
"I think I will," Maria happily says.
Sally and the others walk over, "We're glad that you're able to come."
"Hearing that my sister is threatened, I figure I need to come. And it appears Shun and Jazz will also be in danger as well. And… of course Sonic," Shadow says, calm and not pleased to hear Sonic is involved.
"Amy and the others haven't found them yet, and we think it has something to do with the Solaris Project, and we also think Mephiles might be involved," Sally says.
Shadow clutches his hands, "Mephiles, I've always wonder what happened to him. We weren't able to find him for some time now."
"But that was over half a year ago," Rouge says.
"Maybe so, but there is a possibility that Mephiles might be the reason why that Silver hedgehog attacked Sonic and Eve," Shadow says.
Everyone else becomes confused to hear Shadow's theory.
"Like I said it happened over half a year ago. Not only that, but Mephiles hasn't made a move since what happened in the ancient ruins. Why would he make an appearance now?" Rouge replies.
"I know know, but if Mephiles does have anything to do with the silver hedgehog, and hasn't made an appearance since what happened in the ruins… I'm afraid this is only the beginning," Shadow says.
"Which is why we need to do what we can to find Sonic and Eve. And we need to find that silver hedgehog. To see if we can get his side of the story," Sally says.
"And what happens if this silver hedgehog refuses to coorperate?" Rouge questions.
Omega raises his robotic arm, "I recommend that we eliminate him and this Mephiles character."
"I don't know about that, it sounds a bit risky," Rotor says.
"Not only that, but Mephiles has the same powers as I do, seeing that he somehow been able to create my physical form when he made contact with my shadow," Shadow says.
"I remember," Rouge says.
"Alright then we better get to work. Sally and Nicole are planning on meeting with Princess Elise to see if she knows anything," Tails says.
"Tails and I will be heading to the Soleanna library to see if we can find anything about the Solaris Project," Rotor says.
Shadow turns to Rouge, "Rouge, you will go with Tails and Rotor while Leon goes with Sally. The rest will try to find Eve and the others."
Maria says, "I want to come too."
"I'm sorry Maria, but it might be too dangerous for you to come with us. It's possible we might run into the silver hedgehog or Mephiles. You need to go with Tails and the others and help them with some research," Shadow says, sounding concern.
Maria hugs Shadow and says, "But I want to help find Eve too."
"I know Maria, but I'm sure Eve doesn't want you to be hurt by the enemies we'll possibly ran into. Besides, you might be able to help Eve in learning more about Solaris and how Mephiles and Iblis are connected," Shadow says.
"You think so," Maria asks with a smile.
Shadow shows a small smile and says, "Yes. I do."
"Okay, "Maria happily says and gives Shadow a hug again.
At the same time, Rouge and Sally can't help but show calm smiles on their faces.
"I wonder if this is what Shadow was like with Maria and Eve back on the ARK?" Rouge asks.
"Probably. But still, Brother and sisters probably not, but those three are peas in a pod," Sally comments.
After separating from each other, Tails, Rotor, Maria, Rouge, and Leon reach the library that is a two story tall building with patio on the side. On the patio, human and Mobians are reading.
"So this is the library," Tails says.
"It's really big," Maria says.
"It might take us a while, but it might be the only way to help Sonic and Eve from our end," Rotor says.
Leon begins to think and says to the others, "Hmm, it will help if we know what is going on."
"I agree. We'll have to do as much as we can," Tails says.
"Right," Maria says.
Rouge walks ahead, "Then it's best we get started. I rather go with the others on the search than to be stuck in some library. Sadly, Shadow rules I go with you."
"Wait for us, Rouge," Maria says and follows the bat.
Leon and the others follow as well. They hope that they'll be able to find a lead to the Solaris Project, Iblis, and Mephiles.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the middle of town square, Mephiles is looking around as he stands in the shade area of the building, feel pleased to be in the shadows.
Suddenly, someone calls out to him, "Mephiles…"
Mephiles turns his head to see Silver and Blaze walking towards them.
"At least we found you, we've been looking all over," Blaze says.
Mephiles turns his head away from them and asks, "did you do it?"
"I'm afraid not. They were able to get away, but I mange to separate them from the others. However, I couldn't separate the two hedgehogs from each other," Silver says.
"Hmm, I see," Mephiles says.
Silver takes a deep breath and asks, "Tell me. Who is the Iblis Trigger? Why does he want to destroy the world?"
Mephiles looks up and face Silver and Blaze, "Why does that matter to you? Unless you complete your task, your future will remain the same... forever."
"I know, but I do like to know on how can those two can cause the destruction of the world? I was able to find them and well, but… I don't know. They don't strike me as those who will cause destruction," Silver says.
"Unfortunately, it doesn't really matter at this point. Their fate is that they will cause the destruction of this world. And the only way to save the future, is to put an end to the Iblis Triggers," Mephiles says.
"I understand, but um…" Silver says.
Then turns to Blaze who is holding a concern look on her face.
Silver sighs, "Okay. We'll find them as soon as we can and we'll be sure to separate the two hedgehogs."
"See that you do. I hear that they are planning on heading to this city to find their friends. So you'll need to wait for them here," Mephiles says.
"And what will you do?" Blaze asks.
"I will be around, waiting for the opportunity to take the girl hedgehog off guard. That is when I'll eliminate her while you deal with the blue hedgehog," Mephiles says.
Mephiles then leaves the scene as Silver and Blaze watch. Once they're gone, they turn to each other and looking kind of concern.
Silver asks, "How come you didn't mention to Mephiles that the black and red hedgehog is your friends. I'm sure he might come up with a different way to make sure their lives were spared."
"I… I don't know. I can't help, but get the feeling that Mephiles is hiding something from us," Blaze says.
"Like what?" Silver asks.
"Like he isn't telling us everything about the Iblis Trigger and what it's origin is," Blaze says.
"Maybe. He didn't seem to think it matters about it only that we have to take down your friend and her brother," Silver says.
Then says, "I think our best bet is to find those two hedgehogs and see if we can separate them. Since Eve is your friend, maybe you can talk to her while I keep this Sonic distracted."
"Are you sure?" Blaze asks.
"It seems like a good idea and well, it might give you the chance to talk to Eve again. Since you said it's been a while since you last saw her," Silver says.
"I suppose. I just hope I can help her understand the situation," Blaze says.
"Then let's walk around the city and keep an eye out for them. However, you must go hide as soon as we find them. That way, they won't notice you," Silver says.
"Right," Blaze says with a nod.
The two then begin to walk down the street of the city to see if they can find Sonic and Eve. Unknown to them, Mephiles is spying on them from the roof top and has an evil look in his eyes.
Mephiles says to himself, "By the time those two figure out what's going on, it will be too late. They have no idea that the two hedgehogs true purpose they'll play as the Iblis Triggers. Once they're done, I will have the power of their souls, and a worthy vessel for Iblis. And soon, we will become Solaris once more."
