Chapter 7
.
Deputy Hanson was not one of sheriff Riley's favorites. He would call in sick for a slight headache, would blame others for the fact that he wasn't smart enough to make detective. But still, he didn't deserve to lose his daughter, especially like this. Dewey knew this pain well, his sister Tatum was murdered by the original Ghostface. He tried to break this news as gently as possible, but there were no words to make it any easier on Hanson, or on himself. Dewey ofcourse told Hanson he should take the next few days off, Hanson just walked out in anger. Dewey had seen Hanson get angry over nothing, but today he had every right to be angry. As Hanson cleared his things out of his locker he was approached by his best friend, Johnny.
.
Johnny: I'm sorry about what happenned to Amanda.
Hanson: Thanks. Those bastards just murdered her, like she was an animal.
Johnny: I swear to you, we catch this punk, he won't live to see trial.
Hanson: Thanks, but I want to make someone pay now.
Johnny: You sure that's a good idea, right now. They're already looking...
Hanson: I know, but I need this right now. Will you help me?
Johnny: Ofcourse, you know I'm there for you. You got anyone in mind?
Hanson: Yeah, I do.
.
As Hanson and Johnny covertly made plans for this night, another deputy entered the locker room. This was David, Mary's father, and an old friend of these two.
.
David: I came to offer my condolences Hanson.
Hanson: Thanks.
David: I also want to make sure you're not planning anything you'll regret.
Hanson: Don't start talking that Jesus stuff right now.
David: Sorry but, you know what Saturday is?
Hanson: Halloween.
David: 20 years, to the day, since we did that horrible sin.
Hanson: So what, this is God punishing us for what you did?
David: I'm as guilty as you two, no more, no less.
Johnny: Except I stopped short of murder, but we never saw that girl again.
David: She left town.
Hanson: So you say. Funny how your daughter was spared. Stay out of my business.
