From Earth to Star Wars, Part Two

Disclaimer: All characters but Meagan, Sasha and some other minor ones, belong to George Lucas and Disney now. We are not receiving any profit off this work of fiction.

AN: Hello everyone. The story with Dalton Kain continues. It was only going to be a part of this chapter but it ended up taking it all, so the wedding plans with Anakin and Padme will return next chapter. As for Obi-Wan's father, yes we strayed from cannon as he never met his family but we know little about them so we felt we had room to be a little creative. Meagan will be bidding farewell to her father in law at the end, but we will more than likely be seeing him again. Thanks again to all of you and hope you have a blessed weekend.

As for the Force Awakens, very well done, enjoyed it both times we saw it. However, one huge question remains, who is Rey? We think she is more likely a Skywalker verses Solo. However, it is not out of the realm of possibility she comes from another Jedi line, the Obi-Wan theory has some weight to it. We are looking forward to seeing where Disney goes with these movies!

Chapter Ninety,

"Obi-Wan Kenobi is my son." Dalton Kain's words echoed through my mind that evening as I sat in my small quarters, eating a meal, thinking about the day.

Using my transportable terminal, I logged into the Temple's system. I tried to find individual Jedi records but unfortunately I didn't have access or they were only stored at the Temple. Now who to call to verify this man's story? Before I could think about it further, my comlink went off.

I was relieved to see Jema. Maybe she could help and I trusted her to keep quiet. We talked about the relief efforts for a few minutes before she asked. "Meagan, what's wrong?"

I explained everything to her.

When I was finished, Jema took no time in telling me what to do. "Meagan, take the men with you and kick him out, he certainly isn't up to any good. You could be in grave danger."

"He wouldn't hurt me." I paused before adding. "He is telling the truth. He had a baby picture that looked like Obi-Wan." I paused again. "He also mentioned something that only a parent or spouse would know."

Jema raised an eyebrow. "Like a scar or birthmark or something similar."

"Something like that." I then plunged ahead. "I still want to check him out, especially if I have to tell Obi-Wan. I want no doubts."

"What's his name again?" Jema asked as I saw her turn to the terminal in front of her. "I will run a background check, which will take a day or two but I can see what is in Obi-Wan's record."

I repeated the name and it took her a few minutes before she spoke quietly. "He is telling the truth, he is listed as Obi-Wan's father."

I was quiet for long moments before thanking her.

"Meagan, please be careful." Jema insisted. "Just because he is Obi-Wan's father does not mean he will not hurt you or turn you over to the Separatist for the right price."

"I will." I assured her. "Please don't say anything. I'm not sure if I'll tell Obi-Wan or how he will react if I do tell him."

She smiled. "Your secret is safe with me. " With that we concluded the conversation.

For the next couple days, I stewed about what to do. Meanwhile, Jema sent me the report. Dalton Kain didn't have a criminal record, his business was legit and his family looked to be active in their community. I was still a bit torn, but curiosity won out as I wanted to know his story, more about my husband's family. Deciding to talk to him, I found him working on his ship.

He smiled when he saw me. "So, you have accepted the truth that I am Obi-Wan's father?"

No sense in denying it. "Yes, but it wasn't something I was expecting."

He put down his tools, then gestured inside the ship. "Why don't we sit down and have a drink? I'm sure you have some questions."

I nodded and we were soon settled with a cup of tea. "Your wife, is she Obi-Wan's mother? I must say you don't look old enough to have a son in his mid thirties."

"That's because I was nineteen when Obi-Wan was born." He started out taking a long sip of his drink. "And no Rosabella isn't Obi-Wan's mother. I met Safira when I took a job planet side."

He told me they started seeing each other, despite her parents' disapproval. Apparently he wasn't good enough for the daughter of a higher socioeconomic ranking family. "They thought it would blow over, but then she became pregnant. Well, you can imagine what their reaction was and we soon left on my ship. We tried to make a go of it and it worked for a while, but she came to realize she wouldn't be able to live like that, never having a home, living on a ship."

He paused for such a long time in memories that I eventually prompted him to continue. "I take it, you didn't marry her?"

He shook his head. "No, at first we didn't want her parents tracking us through legal means and we didn't have the credits to pay someone off. Though after a while, I don't think we wanted to. Anyway, after some fights and discussions, we decided it was best to end it."

"She went home?" I was beginning to piece together the rest of the story.

"She contacted her parents who said she could come home as long as this was all behind her."

"As in she didn't bring you or the baby with her?" I deduced.

He nodded. "She loved Obi-Wan, she really did, but knew the baby would be better off with a couple desiring a child of their own, give it a better future than what we could give him."

"Did you agree with her?"

"For the most part. I knew we wouldn't be happy together, but thought maybe I could raise the child on my own." He looked down before continuing. "We found one of those places that helps with this kind of thing and that's where Obi-Wan was born. They put this little baby into my arms and I didn't think I could be so awed that this little guy was mine, he was perfect. I was so proud and happy he was healthy, but we also discovered he was force sensitive."

"The matron said they would care for him for six to seven months to when the Jedi would take him. Safira struggled with it for a couple days but turned over her rights, giving me the choice to keep him or give him to the Jedi. It was hard, but we made our goodbyes and she returned to her home."

"Since you have the picture, I guess you decided to keep him?"

He nodded. "I stayed for a day or so, but couldn't leave my son there. So, when I got a delivery request, I took him with me. It was difficult at first, but I got the hang of it. There was a few times things could have gone bad if the people I was dealing with knew I had a kid, but Obi-Wan always seemed to know , never cried, kept very quiet." He paused in memories before continuing. "Despite some difficulties, I enjoyed having my son with me, kept me company on long trips. It wasn't until he was about seven months old when I noticed his Force abilities were making themselves known."

I smiled in my own memories. "Moving his toys?"

He nodded. "The first time it happened, I came into the room and he was sitting up in the play pin and I could have sworn the toy ship had not been in there before. I chalked it up to being tired, but a couple days later when I saw a toy floating rather shakily towards him I about had a heart attack."

"So for the next couple months, I again debated on what to do. It was the hardest decision I ever made. I love him fiercely, like any man would love his son. Though I wanted to keep him, I knew deep down he belonged with the Jedi, that they could give him more than I could. I managed to send them a message and we arranged a meeting."

I didn't want to intrude on his grief of giving up his son and got us some more tea.

"It was hard, but I kept going, kept working and eventually I met Rosabella." He said with a bit of a smile. "She was working at one of the places I was making a delivery to and she had her daughter with her, who I knew would have been about my son's age."

He told me they became friends before falling in love and getting married. He adopted her daughter then they had two children together. "Before we married, I told her I gave a child to the Jedi. Rosabella heard the news about the Trade Federation taking over Naboo and knew the Jedi was my son. Since then we have followed his career as much as we are able to." He looked to me and smiled. "We were pleased when he heard he married."

"Does the rest of your family know about Obi-Wan?"

"We told our children I had a child as a teenager. Though we never told them I gave him to the Jedi, just led them to believe he was adopted."

That made sense to me. "How many grandchildren is it? I don't believe you told me."

He smiled. "Seven, including the one I have not yet met. " He paused then looked pointedly at me. "Please tell me you have a picture."

He looked so eager, so much like a child, I gave in. "I brought a few with me. I can go get them." He didn't seem to want to wait and it didn't talk to long to get them. "The top one is pretty recent too."

"We heard you had a daughter but not much else and there are no pictures of her." He said, gazing at them. "She is at the Jedi Temple?"

"Yes. She's inherited her father's Force abilities."

He smiled as he gazed at the pictures, as if wanting to memorize them. "She looks to be a handful."

I couldn't help but laugh. "She can be. Sasha has a lot of energy and has a tendency to get into trouble sometimes."

Dalton looked about to say something, then stopped. He flipped to another picture, one of her as a baby. "She looks so much like you with the red hair, but I see Obi-Wan in her too."

It was quiet for several minutes as he studied the pictures and I left him to his thoughts until he finally spoke again.

"Is he…." His voice trailed off, as if he thought twice about what he was about to ask.

"Yes, he has been a good husband and father." I assured him, feeling certain he was about to ask. "It hasn't always been easy being married to a Jedi, but we love each other very much."

He looked relieved. "All marriages have troubles, it's just the way relationships are. I'm glad you are happy together."

I couldn't help but smile, thinking of how complete I felt with him, despite the war pulling us away from each other. "I don't think I could be with anyone else."

He took a sip of his drink, smiling a little. "Good. Can you tell me a little about him?"

We spent some time as I told him a few things about our life and he let me look at pictures he had of his family before we were called back to work. I was able to see him a little over the next day, but when we needed some things for some remote areas, he volunteered to get it, leaving planet.

While he was gone, I debated what to tell Obi-Wan, but when he contacted me, telling me he would be picking me up, I had run out of time. As Dalton was off planet, I was unable to ask him what his thoughts or wishes were. I was hoping the two could met, then feel out my husband's mood before telling him but thought if he needed to hurry elsewhere, I wouldn't see Dalton again. Thankfully Obi-Wan wasn't called away and I had work to do so he remained in orbit on the Sassy most of the time.

However, when Dalton returned, we were busy sorting the supplies he brought, when Obi-Wan came looking for me as we often took meals together or he came down for the night.

"Where did you get these?" He asked, looking over my shoulder at the boxes of medical supplies I was beginning to sort through.

"I brought them." Dalton came from around the corner, carrying another box. "These are the last of them. It should leave them supplied, at least for a while."

"Thank you. I think it should work." I watched the two men, wondering how this would go.

"I'm sorry but who might you be?" Obi-Wan watched his father for a moment before speaking. "I did not think it was possible to buy these, not in this sector."

"Dalton Kain, I run a shipping business." He said, shrugging slightly. "I have some contacts that were able to secure them, much quicker than requesting them."

"The black market you mean?" Obi-Wan cocked an eyebrow, clearly curious about this man helping me. I mentioned to him there were some civilians that came to help.

"Actually it was a few med companies I've dealt with who were willing to donate them." Obi-Wan's inquiry didn't seem to faze him at all. "I have a receipt. I am a good business man who helps out his fellow being in a time of need." He leaned against the wall, his arms crossing his chest with a slight curve of a smile on his lips, enjoying this banter with his son, even if the son didn't realize who he was speaking with.

Before Obi-Wan could interject, I laid a hand on his arm. "Actually, Dalton has been very helpful in more ways than one."

Dalton laughed. "Yes I can be quite scary sometimes when dealing with irksome reporters."

Obi-Wan glanced toward me. "Were they bothering you?"

I shook my head, assuring him. "No more than usual. I'm fine."

My husband looked doubtful but let it drop, though I could tell he was a bit uncertain about one Dalton Kain. This looked to be very interesting.

"Meagan, what do you know about Dalton Kain?" Not too surprising Obi-Wan asked about him as we were turning in for the night.

I watched him for a moment before answering, still not sure what to tell him. "His shipping business is legit. Jema ran a background check and it came back clean. Why are you asking? There are always volunteers from different places that I end up working with."

"I don't know." He said sitting down next to me. "It's just, I don't know, I have a feeling about him, but I can't place it."

"He's a good man, Obi-Wan." I assured him, well knowing what he was sensing. "If it makes you feel better, his kitchen has hand drawn pictures of their family dogs by one of his grandchildren."

Obi-Wan gave a shaky laugh. "I don't know if I should be worried that you know about his dogs or been alone with him on his ship."

"He won't hurt me." I turned then pulled back the covers. "I trust him."

He leaned down to kiss me before we crawled into the bed. "Be careful."

"I will." We settled down together, his arms warm around me. It was sometime before I ventured out. "Obi-Wan, have you ever wondered about your parents?"

"Not really. After Sasha was born, I realized how much they sacrificed giving me to the Order but I was meant to be a Jedi."

"But have you ever wondered if you look like one parent or act like another?"

"No." Obi-Wan looked at me, a question in his eyes. "Where is this coming from?"

"I don't know, maybe from helping reunite the families here."

He gently kissed me. "I know you miss your family, but Sasha has a family with the Jedi. She'll be alright."

I nodded against him, cuddling close, allowing him to think it was the occasional home sickness I suffered from. I lay there quietly, thinking about how to handle this, but still not finding any answers.

The following morning while Obi-Wan was attending a council meeting, I checked on the progress of some of the repairs in a couple different areas of the town and found them coming along well. When I returned to the main base, I found Dalton as well as others separating some food, clothes, and medical supplies to take to the more remote areas we hadn't been able to do as much for.

"We've got these about done." Dalton told me as I looked over the tables.

"Good. I can take them up there tomorrow." I told him, quite pleased how this was coming along. "You can run things down here for a day."

"Don't worry about it." Dalton said as he closed one box. "I'll go."

I shook my head. "I'm with the Republic and in charge. It will be me they are expecting."

He merely raised an eyebrow. "I don't think you should be going alone, there are at least wild animals up there."

"I'll take a few of the men with me." I glanced around the area. "We should be able to handle it fairly easily."

"Meagan, this isn't a good idea." Dalton crossed his arms against his chest, looking rather stern.

"I'll be fine." I would have continued but Obi-Wan chose that moment to come up from behind me.

He took in Dalton's facial expression as well as my stance and immediately frowned. "Meagan, you are not leaving this area with only a few men. " I opened my mouth to protest but Obi-Wan placed a finger over my lips. "It's entirely too dangerous. A few of the men can use one of the larger transports."

Dalton looked around, nodding. "There are only a few more that will need to go. It should all fit. "

I wasn't happy about not going myself, but the men seemed to handle it and they reported it went well. Over the next day or so, the recovery continued, Obi-Wan helping when other duties were not pressing. There was an afternoon he and Dalton were working on repairing a roof. I wasn't sure what they talked about, but it looked to go alright. Obi-Wan was still wary about him but Dalton seemed pleased to spending time with his son, even if the son didn't realize it.

"Did you get it done?" I asked my husband to clarify something as we were finally getting settled down for the night.

He nodded. "I have to admit, Kane knows what he is doing."

"You two seem to be getting along alright." I ventured out, wanting to see if his opinion had changed.

He shrugged. "Kane is a good man, but there is something about him." Obi-Wan paused as he pulled back the covers before ushering me into the bed. "I don't know what it is, but it feels like he is hiding something."

Thankfully my face was turned so he didn't see me grimace slightly. I wondered, not for the first time, that maybe it would be better if I didn't tell him. More than likely once we left in just a few more days, the chances of us meeting him again were slim.

"Are you still here?" I looked up from where I was working later one evening to find Dalton strolling towards me.

"Just finishing up." I said as I turned back to my work.

"Come on Meagan." Dalton shook his head, coming toward me to take my arm. "I cooked something for dinner and have plenty."

I was about to protest but my stomach growled reminding me I hadn't eaten since that morning. Maybe a break would help. I quickly cleaned up what I was working on before following him to his ship.

"It isn't much, but it's a stew that is easy to do and makes plenty." He said as we sat down at the table.

"It smells wonderful." Of course at this point I would have eaten anything. Digging in, I discovered it tasted just as good. "It's good. Does your wife realize you cook so well?"

Dalton laughed. "Over the years I've learned to cook more simple dishes that I can take with me on trips. I have a good handful of dishes I rotate. When I'm at home, I don't think she wants me in her kitchen, unless there is a grill involved."

I couldn't help but laugh. "Your wife sounds like someone I would get along with very well."

Dalton grinned. "Rosebella is something else, she puts up with me for one. "

"You're not that bad are you?" I asked with half a laugh, turning back to the stew.

He took another bite. "Generally, no. Though I can't deny I have ended up in the dog house more than once."

I laughed but soon stopped as I felt Obi-Wan calling for me.

"What is it?" Dalton asked as I turned in my chair.

"Obi-Wan's looking for me."

"He can join us." Dalton didn't seem to mind, but was looking curiously at me. "Do you two use the Force to communicate? I didn't hear a com go off."

"You could say that." I nodded as I rose from the chair. "I'd better go find him."

I met Obi-Wan outside the ship and brought him back inside. It took a few moments for us to get settled and started back on dinner with Dalton assuring Obi-Wan that he didn't mind sharing his meal. Not much was said as we finished eating. It wasn't till we were drinking a cup of coffee that the real conversation started.

"I believe you said you own a shipping business?" Obi-Wan asked, sitting back in his chair. At Dalton's nod, he continued. "What exactly do you ship?"

"Depends on what's needed. " Dalton shrugged. "Obviously right now we've been moving medical and food supplies, things people need when the war disrupts normal supply routes. But I have dealt with all sorts of goods, all legal."

"Do you have a contract with the Republic?"

Dalton shook his head. "I've been doing this for a long time, so businesses who I've worked with before, send requests to us. Especially ones who don't want Republic involvement and prefer a private company to bring them goods." I thought that made sense as he continued. "I have employees that do most of the common routes and my wife does a lot of bookkeeping. So now I'm only traveling less than half the time."

Obi-Wan seemed to be satisfied with that answer, but he was clearly trying to figure out this man. The silence grew a little awkward as we sipped our coffee before Dalton spoke.

"Is there a chance of a repeat attack?" He stirred his coffee as he spoke slowly.

Obi-Wan shook his head. "Grievous has a habit of destroying worlds then moving onto the next one. This is not in an area that would have an advantage to launching attacks or controlling another sector." My husband gave me a glance, a slight smile curving his lips. "I was in the area and knew Meagan's work was about done, so I stopped by to see her."

I couldn't help but smile especially when Dalton chuckled a bit. "A nice thought or action has often kept me out of the doghouse."

Obi-Wan looked rather intrigued, sitting back in his chair. "Your wife doesn't mind your traveling?"

Dalton glanced at me for a moment before answering. "Not usually, as long as I spread them out a bit and she understands. Now that our children are grown, she comes along with me sometimes. We've made it work."

Obi-Wan watched him for a moment before sipping on his coffee. "Have you had this ship long?"

Dalton smiled. "Actually I have, this was the last ship my father had. She requires a lot of maintenance sometimes but she's worth it. We've been through a lot together."

I stood up, taking the bowls our soup had been in, interrupting the conversation. "Are you done?"

"Yes." I took them to the sink and began washing them as the men continued to talk a little, mostly about the work being done. After the dishes were washed and dried, I left them sitting in the sink before sitting back down.

"You know Meagan, you didn't have to clean everything up."

I shrugged. "I don't mind. You cooked."

Dalton gave me a twisted smile. Before another conversation started, Obi-Wan's comlink went off.

"Yes Cody?" Obi-Wan spoke into the device.

"There is an incoming message from the Council for you." Cody answered.

"Very well, I am on my way." Obi-Wan rose. "Thank you for dinner but duty calls. Come Meagan."

Before I could speak, Dalton did. "I can see her back."

Obi-Wan watched him for a moment. "Thank you but I can see to her."

I knew that Obi-Wan still didn't trust him and didn't want me alone with him. I almost wanted to say something but felt the timing was not right. "I can take care of myself."

Both men laughed as Obi-Wan held out his hand. "I know."

I placed my hand into his and allowed him to pull me to my feet. "Thank you for dinner Dalton, I'll see you tomorrow."

We said goodnight and Obi-Wan and I left the ship. As we walked away, I turned slightly to look back and found Dalton watching with a slight smile. I gave him a smile before Obi-Wan caught my attention.

"I might be a while, do you want to come with me or stay here?"

"I'll be fine here." I told him as we walked along. "I want to get an early start and don't want to trouble someone to bring me down."

He didn't protest and soon left me in my quarters and left for the Sassy. Laying in bed that night, I thought about the dinner. On the surface, everything went fine but yet I knew Obi-Wan was a bit unsure about Dalton, leaving me wondering what the right thing to do was.

The next couple days went fast but well as I wrapped things up, as much as I could. Then I started making goodbyes and packing my things, knowing it was time to leave and go help someone else.

"Meagan." Dalton came up to me as I was taking my two bags to the transport the morning we were leaving. Obi-Wan was already aboard the Sassy. "Have you told Obi-Wan anything?"

I shook my head and was about to explain when he continued.

"It might be better if you don't tell him." He started out, leaving me in shock. "I don't think he liked me very much or at the very least a bit unsure about me and I know you know it too." He said when I opened my mouth to protest. "I was already on my way here when the attack happened and I heard you were coming with aid. I wanted to meet you, maybe meet my son without telling you who I was. You just happened to find out, but I think you might have eventually figured it out."

"You did remind me of Obi-Wan even before I knew so I might have." I agreed.

"There have been many times when I almost regretted giving him up, wondering if I actually was the best thing for my son, instead of the Jedi Order. However, seeing and watching him, I know he is where he is meant to be and it's even better that he has a wonderful woman in his life."

"Thank you." I said, honestly meaning it and quite touched by his words. "You did the right thing, Obi-Wan is a good man and Jedi."

"I would love to have a relationship with him, but knowing he's happy with a family of his own and doing what he was called to do, I couldn't ask for more and I am proud of him."

I blinked away the tears, reaching up to kiss his cheek. "That's really very sweet, but are you sure?"

He was quiet for a moment before nodding. "I'm sure."

"I will respect your wishes." I assured him before we made our final goodbyes.

"Wait Meagan." He called me back as I was about to jump onboard. "If there ever comes a time when your family needs a place to go, my home is always open to you." He gave me a few instructions on how to reach him or his wife. "You can even bring your husband along."

"Thank you." With that we said goodbye again and this time I climbed up on the transport and left.

Once aboard the Sassy I stood on the bridge, watching the stars fade into streaks as we flew into hyperspace. Obi-Wan turned toward me.

"You alright?" His voice was quiet as I came to stand next to him.

I nodded, knowing he would probably never know what a brave man his father really is.

AN

Tibricel Tibby: Meeting Obi-Wan's father was an idea we came up with more recently and decided to put it into the story. This story arc ends here but as we said earlier, we should be seeing Dalton Kain again. We are glad you have been enjoying our story. Thanks again.

SpdrAnger006: We are glad you re-found our story and have started reading them. Meagan's been a fun character, but she is rather protective of her family and after being pulled unexpectedly to a different galaxy, I think I might be that way too. Anakin and Padme's wedding is coming and for his future, our readers will have to wait. Obi–Wan has always been one of our favorite characters and yes we were disappointed he was not in the movie but rumor has it there will be an Obi-Wan movie. (crossing our fingers.) As for Meagan returning to Earth, that question will be answered in the story. Obi-Wan's father has been a fun addition to the story and hopefully we will get to know him more later. Thanks again for your thoughts on our story and characters, we always appreciate them.

Sharnorasian Empire: Yes, Obi-Wan meeting his father is straying from canon, but it was an idea we wanted to use and he should be making an appearance or two later in the story that will be important. I'm sorry it has become a pet peeve for you, we have read other stories where they change something we didn't like so we understand. However, as we progress through the Clone Wars, there will be arcs that stray or are different than what might be in the Star Wars universe. (cannon and EU) Thanks again and we hope you continue to read our story and we always appreciate your thoughts!

Quote: We really couldn't help ourselves here. From The Force Awakens (never fear, no spoilers.)

Han and Finn are talking about the mission on a snow covered planet when Chewie growls.

Han turned to him in surprise. "Oh, really, you're cold?"

That was absolutely priceless! The best line of the movie!
