From Earth to Star Wars, Part Two
Disclaimer: All characters but Meagan, Sasha and some other minor ones, belong to George Lucas and Disney. We are not receiving any profit off this work of fiction.
AN: Hello again. We hope everyone is having a good summer! This is a lighter chapter with the wedding of Padme and Anakin and it's a longer one since we wanted to get everything in and not have another chapter. However the war will rear its ugly head with a sequence from the Clone Wars show that should be exciting, though Meagan might not think that. Thanks again to everyone who favorited or alerted this story recently! We appreciate and we hope you enjoy this chapter.
On another note, we heard at Star Wars Celebration, they will be announcing the title and maybe director of the next stand-alone/anthology film. While that is exciting, what is really exciting is the growing buzz that it is not a Boba Fett movie but Obi-Wan Kenobi! Several director's names are being mentioned, including Spielberg. Recently in an interview, Ewan McGregor when directly asked if he's been in contact with Kathleen Kennedy, said he wasn't sure if he was allowed to say. But was very interested in being Obi-Wan and would love to be in a Star Wars movie again. In that same interview he flat out said he had not been contacted about Epi 8. That sounds rather suspicious to us, answering one question directly but hedging on the other! So we are crossing our fingers, hoping the news/rumors are correct and we will get to see what happens with our hero between Epi 3 and 4. Would love to be in London to see Ewan on stage when the announcement is official!
Chapter Ninety-Two
Meagan's point of view
"Every whale in the ocean has turned off his spout. Every light between here and Far Foodle is out. And now, adding things up, we are way beyond billions! Our Who's-Asleep-Score is up in the Zillions!" Obi-Wan paused in his reading as he glanced down to his lap where Sasha was curled, barely keeping her eyes open. He lowered his voice. "Ninety-nine zillion, nine trillion and two Creatures are sleeping! So…How about you."
I watched with a smile as he set the book aside and gently tucked her into bed, saying the last lines from memory. "When you put out your light, Then the number will be Ninety-nine zillion Nine trillion and three." He kissed her goodnight then waved off the light. "Goodnight."
Without speaking we left our daughter's room. Obi-Wan spent most of the evening working on reports of battles while I read a book. Though at some point, I put it down, took a bath and went to bed. I woke up late into the night, reaching for Obi-Wan to find he wasn't there. With a sigh, I slipped on a robe and went into the living room to find him still working.
"Obi-Wan, it's late." I came forward, reaching for him. "Whatever it is can wait till the morning. Even Jedi Masters need to sleep."
"Very well." He sighed, took a minute or two to finish what he was doing before setting it down. Without saying a word, I led him to our bed.
The next while passed with battles, Grievous, Dooku and Ventress still causing havoc wherever they went. The wedding of Padme and Anakin drew closer and I was working off planet when I needed to be getting Sasha to Naboo.
Concerned about it, I managed to catch my husband one evening over the comlink.
"I will go to the Temple to get her." Obi-Wan assured me. "You can meet us on Naboo."
"Do not forget our dresses and your dress robes." I thankfully planned ahead and everything we needed was packed before I left a few weeks prior. "Everything you need is in some bags in the closet."
"Yes dear." Obi-Wan said, obviously deciding to humor me. "I will see you soon."
"I love you. Be safe."
"I love you too." With that our transmission closed.
Obi-Wan's point of view
"Yes Anakin, I will be there as soon as I can." To say my former apprentice was nervous about the wedding seemed to be an understatement. "I have to stop by the Temple before going to Naboo."
"Did you forget something? Why not come straight here, it's closer." Anakin, Ahsoka and Padme I believe recently arrived on Naboo.
"Only my daughter and my wife's clothes." I couldn't help but grin a bit sarcastically.
Anakin nodded, chuckling a little. "Yes, Meagan would be quite put out with you if either of those was forgotten. I will see you two when you get here."
Once back at the Temple, I gathered the items Meagan wanted me to bring as well as my own. Sasha was jumping around everywhere and I still wasn't sure how in the Force I would keep her from driving all the men mad on the trip to Naboo. There wasn't many safe places on a ship of war for a 4 ½ year old girl.
"Now Sasha." I told her before we left. "You are not to touch anything or go anywhere without me. The ship is very large and you could get hurt or lost. Do you understand?"
"Yes Daddy." She nodded solemnly.
As we arrived at the ship yards, Commander Cody greeted us.
"The Sassy is refueled, reloaded and ready to go." Cody glanced at Sasha who was standing slightly behind me, gazing at the ship in front of us. "We are taking on a passenger?"
"Cody, I would like you to meet my daughter." I completed the introductions as Sasha shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you squirt." Cody grinned at her before we turned to board the Sassy.
We put the bags into my quarters then made our way to the bridge. "This is huge." Sasha looked around the ship in absolute awe.
"Everything ready?" I asked as I stationed Sasha where she could see but wouldn't be able to get into trouble.
"Yes General." Cody answered.
With that the engines flared up and we started to lift off. Sasha was jumping up and down watching everywhere she could as the Sassy lifted into the atmosphere. "I've never been anywhere before, have I daddy?"
"You have, but you were a baby and wouldn't remember it." She looked disappointed, but quickly brightened as I pointed the sights out to her before we could no longer see them.
"Prepare the jump to hyperspace." The men completed their duties. "The coordinates our set."
"Engage." Cody said as I nodded to him. There was a brief pause before the stars turned blurry.
"Wow." Sasha stared out the window, seemingly content to watch for long moments. However when nothing happened after a bit, she turned back to me. "Can I play now?"
I reached for her hand. "Maybe not play, but I can show you around."
After a tour that was shortened when she became bored, I took her to one of the small training rooms. It was currently set up for a ground assault with some rather large obstacles that might be seen in the field. I told her she could only play in certain areas as some of them would easily injure her. She didn't seem to mind, running toward the safe area.
At some point my comlink went off and while watching Sasha, I took part in a Council meeting. Until I felt a slight tingle in the Force, soon followed by a small voice.
"Daddy, I can't get down." I immediately turned to the sound of my daughter's voice to find she wandered where she was not meant to go and climbed entirely too high.
"Sasha, how did you get up there?"
"I jumped." She glanced down the way she came. "But I can't get back down."
Sasha was a good jumper, managing even high spots, but hadn't learned how to get down. "Stay there. Do not move." I turned back to the Council to find them looking rather amused.
"It's alright Obi-Wan." I could tell Mace was trying hard not to laugh. "We are about concluded anyway."
"Later here rest of the story we will." Master Yoda chuckled before the transmission was cut off.
Turning back around, I glanced upwards to find Sasha had not moved. "I'm coming up there." I thought about asking her to jump but with the other obstacles I wouldn't be able to get completely underneath her.
Once we had both feet on the ground, I led her from the room. We were waiting for a lift when she spoke.
"Am I in trouble?"
I considered her for a moment. "Did you learn anything?"
She nodded. "That I shouldn't go where I am told not to cause I can get hurt. And I won't, I promise."
"Make sure you remember that." I gazed down at her as the lift doors opened and we got on. I selected the floor we needed and the lift speed off.
Keeping Sasha occupied on the ship turned out to be more difficult than I first thought. I tried to get her to work on her studies, but she kept hopping up or staring at something across the room. I thought of taking her to my quarters but she would have no room to really move around. I lost track of how many times she asked when we were going to get there. However, finally we made it, much to my relief.
I used a smaller ship to fly down and the men kept the Sassy in orbit, just in case the Separatist tried anything. After last minute instructions for Cody, I loaded up our belongings and secured Sasha.
"Is Mummy there yet?" She asked as I started the ship.
"No yet but soon." Thankfully the sights took her attention and she was quiet all the way down to the planet. Anakin sent me the coordinates of the Lake Country and I flew directly there, sending him a message we were arriving soon.
Padme, Anakin and Ahsoka greeted us before going to the cabin where we would be staying. The others kept Sasha occupied while I unloaded the ship. The rest of the day was enjoyable as we met with the rest of Padme's family, having dinner together. The adults were able to visit while Sasha and Padme's nieces ran around the back lawn of the Naberrie's cabin.
"He certainly has a way with them." Ruwee came up behind me as I was watching Anakin play with the girls where they were constantly tackling him. "He may be more tired than they are."
Nodding, I couldn't help but agree. "He enjoys it though. Anakin has always been very good with Sasha."
Ruwee smiled. "That's good to hear. I know he is a good man but Jobal and I still can't help but worry about Padme."
"It certainly will not be easy being married to a Jedi, even without a war." I paused as we continued to watch the play. "I also know your daughter and she is a very strong and determined young lady who I believe can handle it. Despite any difficulties they come across with their professions, you will never find a more loyal, protective, and loving man for your daughter than Anakin." The older man was looking much more relieved. "There is no one I trust more with my own wife and daughter than him. He has never let me down."
"Thank you Master Jedi, that relieves my mind." He shook his head slightly. "We live in dark times, but even in more peaceful times, a parent never stops worrying about their children."
I couldn't help but agree, somehow knowing Meagan and I would be the same. As it started to grow late, I managed to pry Sasha away from her playmates and we made our way back to the cabin. Ahsoka came with us but Anakin and Padme wanted some time alone and went for a walk. Thankfully all the energy Sasha spent playing was taking its toll and after a bath and story, she was sleeping soundly.
When I returned to the living area, Ahsoka was working on her studies and when she said she didn't need any assistance, I capitalized on the time and went to spend some much needed time meditating. It had been a good day, but a long one.
"Daddy." It was still very early when Sasha awakened me. I took a deep breath, trying to remember my young daughter was not used to the time difference between Naboo and Coruscant which would offset her sleeping pattern.
"How about a story?" I asked as she climbed onto the bed. She settled into the covers as I got up and rummaged through the bags Meagan previously packed. Silently thanking my wife for being so thorough, I pulled out a book.
We had a good time reading it and I preferred this story to others as it had a valuable lesson. "'I've got to protect them. I'm bigger than they. So he plucked up the clover and hustled away.'" I flipped the page and Sasha giggled at the pictures as I read. "'Should I put this speck down?' Horton thought with alarm. 'If I do, these small persons may come to great harm. I can't put it down. And I won't. After all, a person is a person no matter how small.'"
Sasha read the last part with me, obviously knowing the story. By the time we got to the end. "And their whole world was saved by the smallest of all." Sasha had fallen back asleep.
I watched her sleep for long moments before putting the book aside, then tucking her into the bed. I waved the light off and settled next to Sasha before falling back asleep myself. Thankfully we slept the rest of the night, though at first light, Sasha was bounding about the house, wanting to go explore. After we ate breakfast, Anakin said Padme had plans for him and left, leaving Sasha, Ahsoka, and I. As this was really Sasha's first time on another planet, I thought it would be good to get out and enjoy the day. So we took some walks through the woods, hearing the birds sing, and seeing the shaaks grazing. The two girls had a great time racing through the fields and rolling down hills, though Ahsoka would probably deny it.
Around mid-day we returned to the cabin for a small meal. Afterwards when we went to find everyone else, we were surprised to see Anakin's mother Shmi and her husband Cliegg Lars had arrived. Anakin spent most of the day with her, the ladies working on wedding plans. Though Darred and I took the children to the lake for a little while.
It was later in the afternoon, nearly to the evening meal, when we went on a picnic and I was able to converse with Shmi. I was watching Anakin and Ahsoka trying to ride the shaaks and I'm not sure if either of them had any success at it except to entertain the rest of us. I could see Sasha a little way away, playing with the two other girls under Sola's watchful gaze.
"Anakin has turned into a fine young man." I heard her come up from behind. "You did a fine job of raising him."
I nodded to her. "I cannot take all the credit, you had more influence than you realize."
She gave me a smile, showing how strong she was to have given him up. "He deserved so much better and I could not be prouder of him as I am sure you are too."
I nodded. "Yes, my wife and I are very proud of him but he certainly tried my patience at times."
Shmi laughed. "He did mine as well at times, but I think children always find ways of driving their parents mad."
I laughed with her, well knowing both Sasha and Anakin excelled in that department.
At some point we all sat down on the blankets which were spread in the fields and began to eat dinner. A few slightly embarrassing stories were told about Padme and Anakin and there were a lot of laughs. It was a different pace to be spending time with people and not fighting a war. I knew Meagan would be sorry she was not with us, but she was arriving later today, hopefully soon.
As it started to get dark, we returned to the cabins. Some of the adults were going to sit on one of the decks with glasses of wine but Sasha was looking to fall asleep, so I decided to forgo the spirits and put my tired daughter to bed. After all the excitement of the day, she didn't utter a protest and fell asleep within a matter of moments.
It wasn't that much later when Meagan arrived, a transport bringing her down. I helped her unload her things and before turning in ourselves, enjoyed some quiet time together on the back deck of the cabin.
**Meagan's point of view**
The following morning, after breakfast, we got ready as we were going on the lake as the Naberrie's had a small yacht and two speeder boats. Anakin and Darred drove those and the former was thrilled to do so. Ahsoka was disappointed she was coming on the yacht but was promised she could drive one later. Meanwhile the rest us spread out on lounge chairs as Ruwee drove the boat with Cliegg and Obi-Wan joining him in the wheel room. As we danced across the lake, Shmi came and sat next to me as I held my daughter, trying to protect her skin with sun lotion.
Once I was finished, Sasha was easily distracted by the sights and didn't wander too far from me.
"Anakin talked a lot about Sasha yesterday." Shmi said with a smile.
I turned to her, returning the smile. "He has always spoiled her."
The older woman laughed a little. "That is the way it normally goes."
"Mummy, can I ride with Uncle Anakin?" Sasha asked as he and Darred drove the speeders around, at nearly neck breaking speeds.
"No, your father would not allow it." Which would be putting it mildly.
Sasha pouted but thankfully didn't raise another protest only watching the boats with avid interest.
"Anakin has turned into a fine young man. I am sure you have had a hand in it."
"Only a little." I assured her, not wanting her to feel bad. After all, she was his mother. "You gave him a good start and Obi-Wan somehow managed him as a teenager."
We shared a few memories about Anakin and more than a few laughs before the other ladies joined us. Even as the ships reached the alcove where the ship was anchored, we enjoyed lounging in the sun, relaxing with a drink. At first, Cliegg, Obi-Wan and Ruwee mostly stayed inside, talking while Darred, Anakin, and Ahsoka got into the water with the three children. Thankfully they had some tubes Sasha could float in as the water looked to be deep. Later, the men grilled the meat for lunch as Shmi and Jobal put the trimmings together. Then on the deck, we ate together, sharing more laughs and enjoying the warm sun.
After lunch, Anakin and Ahsoka took out the speeder boats, driving around the area and making a lot of waves. This time, due to my daughter's pleading, I got into the water, floating in a raft while Sasha swam around a little before I pulled her up next to me.
It was getting later in the afternoon when we started to make our way back. Ruwee drove the yacht around the lake to see some more of the sights. Whether it was due to being out in the water and sun, the time differences or the fact she had not taken her nap, Sasha, sitting in Obi-Wan's lap as he was talking to Cliegg and Shmi, had fallen asleep. Pooja and Ryoo were looking rather tired themselves.
Once we arrived back and disembarked, I roused Sasha and we all made our way to the main cabin. We pulled out the leftovers from lunch for dinner and since everyone was a bit water and sun logged we headed to bed a little early.
The next few days passed where some wedding work was completed but we also spent much time playing around the lake and getting to know each other. However the morning of the wedding soon arrived. To say Anakin was a little nervous was a bit of an understatement. He paced around the room and Obi-Wan was not helping matters with his teasing.
Anakin wasn't exactly happy with it, but my husband reminded him how much teasing he received when we married. Though Obi-Wan did lay off a bit. Shmi and Cliegg came over and visited while Obi-Wan handled a few of the other guests who were arriving, some friends of Anakin, a few other Jedi as well as a few of Padme's closet friends.
Eventually we all gathered on the large terrace overlooking the lake as the sun was just beginning to set behind it. There were some seats where I was sitting on the front row with Shmi and Cliegg on one side with Ahsoka on the other. The Naberries were sitting on the other side of a small aisle with the other guests behind us. Meanwhile Obi-Wan stood next to Anakin and as the ceremony started, my husband leaned forward and whispered something to Anakin that made him smile and relax.
Once everyone was in place, Sasha standing obediently next to her father, Ruwee escorted his daughter in and I do not think I have ever seen Anakin look so much at peace, which showed these two, like my husband and I, belonged together.
The rest of the ceremony was very lovely as we all watched Padme and Anakin commit their lives to one another and it was as if the war disappeared and all that remained was love and happiness. It was as if this day was to be set apart, a day we all could remember when the darkness would return. At some point, Obi-Wan's and I gazes met, and I knew we both had never been more proud and happy for him than we did now, well except when he was knighted. Blinking rapidly, I managed to somewhat control the tears that leaked down. Gazing next to me, I could see Shmi, being held by Cliegg looked very happy but saw the tears as well.
As the vows were completed, the two were holding hands as the priest pronounced them man and wife. They shared their first kiss and thankfully I do not believe the three girls' giggles made it past the first couple aisles. The family members exchanges hugs, kisses, and tears before the processional that led everyone out.
The small reception was nice and fun. Obi-Wan didn't seem to mind the few politicians as he usually got along with Senator Bail Organa and Mom Mothma and a few others that always had been more conservative and supportive of the Jedi.
Later, Obi-Wan and I walked back to our cabin, one of his arms carried our daughter, who fell asleep some time ago, the other around me, the stars around us. It was a beautiful night to end a wonderful day.
"I almost can't believe Anakin is a married man." Obi-Wan mused quietly. "It seemed like it was just yesterday he was pestering me about lightsaber forms."
"And look at him now, all grown up."
Obi-Wan gave me a slight smile. "I know, but it's still hard to let go sometimes."
I glanced to our still small daughter in his arms. "I know but at least we have another fifteen years or so before this one takes off on her own."
Obi-Wan chuckled a little, careful not to disturb Sasha. "Do not remind me."
Laughing with me, we made our way inside the cabin and put Sasha to bed. She barely stirred and Obi-Wan and I retreated from her room.
We sat outside for a while, Ahsoka joining us, and enjoyed the cooler evening air together, talking about the day. After a while we all turned in.
Two days after the wedding, we bid goodbye to Cliegg and Shmi as they needed to get back to Tatooine and the Naberries soon followed, going back to Theed. Over the next several days, Anakin and Padme were naturally scarce. Obi-Wan kept busy with Council meetings and helping Ahsoka and Sasha with their studies. Often I would hear Obi-Wan and Ahsoka dueling or working with Sasha on the remotes. We also spent time swimming in the lake and taking walks through the woods. By this time, Sasha and I had become very freckly. Being little, my daughter didn't notice but I wasn't too pleased about it, not until Obi-Wan told me he liked it, saying it was rather sexy.
But all too soon it came to an end. We spent one last night in Theed so Padme could see her family before heading back to Coruscant. We had an enjoyable dinner together and the next morning we left Naboo behind.
AN: Just wanted to drop a note that the stories are from Dr. Seuss (Sleep Book and Horton Hears a Who!) We've seen videos of James Arnold Taylor reading Dr. Seuss books in Obi-Wan's voice and thought it would be really cute to have him reading Dr. Seuss to Sasha. Of course it was written by the Star Wars equivalent of Dr Seuss and not Meagan trying to remember the words by memory. We liked Horton mainly because his line of "a person's a person, no matter how small" is Jedi like and a value Obi-Wan would teach his child. As for the sleep book, it was just too cute and appropriate to read at a toddler's bed time. We wanted to show what Obi-Wan was reading to his daughter and to have it familiar to our audience verses something we made up. We hoped you enjoyed this chapter! Thanks again.
Now for the quote: With the wedding in this chapter we thought it'd be fun to include a quote from "Father of the Bride" (the Steve Martin version.) Not that we are comparing characters or anything but enjoy.
Franck: [looking at a book of wedding cakes] So this is a very popular cake with many of the fashionable weddings, you know? And this...I just don't do anymore. And this is fabulous.
Nina: Oh. Oh, that is incredible! Annie, that's just like the one we saw in the magazine.
Annie: Do you like it Dad?
George: Well, what is that? Is that dollars? $1,200?
Franck: Well, Mr. Banks. This is a very reasonable price for a cake of this magnitude.
George: A cake, Franck, is made of flour and water. My first car didn't cost $1,200.
Franck: Well, welcome to the nineties, Mr. Banks!
George: [voiceover] Not only did I not understand a syllable this guy was saying, now I had the feeling he was putting me down.
Sharnorasian Empire: Glad you liked the last chapter and are sticking with us and our story! As for ROTS, there will be some cannon parts and some that are not. We hope that makes some sense. Thanks again for your thoughts, we always appreciate it. Hope you enjoyed this lighter chapter as the war is about to come back again!
