Eve and the Black Knight Saga Episode 4: Eve's Own Knightly Rules
After meeting Nimue, the Lady of the Lake, Eve, Calbirun, and Jazz went on to complete the three tasks. Their first task is to rescue the people of Camelot from King Arthur's dungeon, so their first task takes them to Camelot Castle. The three arrive at the castle to see how big it is.
"So this is the famous Camelot Castle," Eve says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz replies.
"Indeed. We must free the people who are being held within the castle's dungeon," Caliburn says.
"And we need to stop the Knights of the Underworld. That is another task Nimue wants us to do and we've already got started with it," Eve says.
"Chao," Jazz nods her head.
"Now we must free the people that are trapped in the castle," Caliburn says.
"It's no problem. My friends, my family, and I have sneaked and broken people out a lot," Eve says.
"Sounds to me that you're very familiar with it," Caliburn says.
"Yeah. I have to do stuff like this a lot. I have to save people from prisons and evil lairs, stop giant robots, including monsters, and bad guys. And saving cities and stuff," Eve says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz says with a nod.
"Well then, it will seem that you are ready to take on this task," Calbiurn says.
"Right. It's time to prove myself as a real knight," Eve says.
"That's the spirit," Calburn says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz happily says.
Jazz then lands on Eve's head as Eve says, "Hang on guys. I'm going to make this very quick with my super speed."
Eve then uses her speed to run down the path. As she uses her super speed, Eve runs up the hill as she notices the castle. Eve uses her super speed to run up the wall of the castle and into the castle.
"Now then, let's find the dungeon and rescue the people inside," Eve says.
"Indeed," Caliburn says.
Then panics, "Look out!"
Eve stops in her tracks to see monsters dressed in armor that has glowing symbols land in front of her.
"The Knights of the Underworld," Eve says.
"Chao," Jazz replies in fright.
"Don't worry Jazz, Caliburn and I will take care of them," Eve says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz firmly says.
"Okay okay, you can stay. But you need to stay close," Eve says.
"Chao," Jazz says with pride.
"I am quite curious on how you can understand this uh, Chaos, is it?" Caliburn replies, confused.
"Save people and fight evil knights now, questions later," Eve says.
"You are, correct. Let's hurry," Caliburn says.
Eve then brings out Caliburn and begins to fight off the Knights of the Underworld. Eve jumps in the air and flashes her sword at the Knights that disappeared in a puff of smoke. Eve then jumps to the wall and bounces off of it. Then she slashes and bounces off the Knights of the Underworld. She continues to bounce and swing her swords at them until they are defeated and disappear in puffs of smoke.
Eve breathes out and says, "That was a bit of a work out."
"Indeed, but now is not the time to rest. There is still much to do," Caliburn says.
"Right. Question is, how are we going to get inside the castle?" Eve says.
Jazz soon notices and points ahead, "Chao Chao."
"What is it, Jazz?" Eve asks.
"Chao Chao. Chao Chao Chao," Jazz says, pointing to a certain direction.
What they see is a medieval machine that looks like a brown and silver color crossbow that has wheels and it's aiming at the large old pillar close to the castle.
"A Ballista, that might just work," Caliburn says.
"Yeah. It looks like it has a large arrow and a rope attached to the machine. We can use it and reach the inside of the castle that way," Eve says.
Jazz happily says, "Chao Chao."
Jazz pulls the lever of the Ballista and it soon fires it at the large pillar that is deeply inside the pillar. However, the bottom of the pillar gives weight and falls down and slams through the wall of the castle.
"Good heavens!" Caliburn says, surprised.
Jazz lowers her head, "Chao chao."
"It's okay Jazz. At least we were able to have a way in," Eve says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz says, relieved.
"Well then, I suppose we do have a clear way into the palace now," Caliburn says.
"Alright," Eve says.
She then brings out her own sword, "Jazz, stay close. Caliburn, I may need some assistance. We might come across more enemies in the castle."
"Yes. Remember to keep your guard up," Caliburn says.
"Right," Eve says.
Eve jumps on to the rope and slides on it. Jazz flies after her as she remains close towards her friend's side. When they reach the end of the rope, Eve and Jazz jump off and land inside the strange part of the castle. Eve looks down to see there is water flying down and there are wooden bar gates up ahead.
Eve looks around and asks, "Where are we?"
"It looks like a waterway under the castle," Caliburn says.
"Guess that means we have our real way in," Eve says.
"Right. Let's hurry," Eve says.
The three then head down the waterway and follow the trail. They soon come across one of the wooden gates. Eve then slashes both Caliburn's blade and the blade of her own sword. With that the gate shatters into pieces. They soon hurry down the trail of the water way and soon come across the Knights of the Underworld.
"Hmmm. Seems that your intuition is right," Caliburn says.
"Then let's get to work," Eve says.
With that, Eve begins to fight off the Knights of the Underworld. She swings both her swords as the Knights try to fight back. Eve then kicks one of their weapons and performs a sneak attack. Eve then uses her spin dash to create a double blade attack. The three then hurry on ahead as Eve continues to fight against the Knights of the Underworld.
"That was a bit riskier than usual," Eve says.
"How fare you, Sir Eve," Caliburn says.
"Yeah yeah," Eve says.
Eve and Jazz hurry down the waterway while the hedgehog continues to hold on to her swords. Continuing running down the waterway, Eve continues to fight against the Knights of the Underworld. Eve continues to swing her swords at the Knights and as she slays them, they disappear in puffs of smoke. Soon, they are able to escape the waterway and find themselves in the dry part of the castle.
Looking down the hall, Jazz calls out, "Chao Chao."
Eve turns to the hall Jazz is looking at and gasps in shock to see the walls contain metal bars that look like jail cells. She hurries to one of them and gasps in shock to see some of the villagers are imprisoned inside.
Caliburn says, "There they are."
The villagers look to see Eve and they are still frightened. One of them is holding their two children closely to her.
"It's okay. Don't be afraid, I'm here to help you escape from here," Eve says.
The villagers look at Eve.
One says in a male's voice, "You're here to rescue us?"
"Yes. Everything is going to be alright now," Eve says.
The villagers begin to smile in relief.
Eve thinks, "These poor people. This reminds me of what happened when Robotnik took over Mobotropolis. He had Mobians imprisoned in cells like these until they were… roboticized."
Eve then says to the people, "Stand back. I'm going to get you all out."
The villagers stand back. Eve then uses Caliburn and her own sword and swings them hard to create hard cuts that break the bars to pieces. Eve soon does the same to many of the other cells. She uses her sword to help break the bars off and create openings for the villagers.
Finally, Eve breaks the last bars to the final cell with her swords. Eve looks inside the cell to see who it is, but gasps in shock to see who it is. The ones she sees in the cell are five mobian like begins. To Eve's surprise, excluding the medieval clothes they're wearing, they resemble Geoffrey, his wife, Hershey, Sonia and Manic, and Rotor.
"Those villagers look like Geoffrey, Hershey, Sonia, Manic, and Rotor," Eve thinks.
The one looks like Sonia asks, "Wh-who are you?"
"Um, my name is Eve the Hedgehog. Don't worry, I'm here to rescue you," Eve says.
"You're here to save us," The hedgehog looking like Geoffrey asks.
"Yes," Eve says.
The five become at ease to see they are being saved.
Eve says, "Come on, we need to get going. The Knights of the Underworld could arrive at any moment."
"She is right. We must leave immediately," Caliburn says.
With that, Eve helps the villagers and the others make their escape. Soon, they run into some of the Knights of the Underworld. Eve quickly acts and uses her sword to take care of them. Of course, Eve has Jazz lead the villagers while she takes care of the Knights. Eve continues to fight against the knights as Jazz helps lead the villagers out of the castle. This event has taken them late into the night until it's very late. Later in the night, Eve, Jazz, and Caliburn are outside of the castle and are able to get a short distance away from there.
The villager looks like Sonia says, "Thank you for rescuing us."
"It's no trouble at all. It's kind of what I do," Eve says.
"Ye really appreciate what you did for us. We just don't get it," The boy looking like Manic says.
"What do you mean?" Eve asks.
"King Arthur was never like this. He was a very noble and kind king, but something in him changed and has sent creatures to capture us," Another villager says.
"We kind of know. But don't worry, I was sent here to help with your uh, problem," Eve says.
"Are you sure you could. Some who tried to fight him are unable to hurt him. Not at all," The villager looks like Rotor says.
"It's okay. My friends and I were working on it. We kind of know about the situation from Merlina," Eve says.
"Oh, you know Merlina. She's very nice and is actually a friend of mine. By the way, my name is Sophie, and this is my brother James," The villager, resembles Sonia says.
"I'm Henry," The villager resembles Rotor says.
The villager resembles Geoffrey says, "I'm Gerald and this is my wife, Margret."
"Hello," Margret says.
"Hello. It's very nice to see you. And again, my friends and I are going to help you with your problem. And hopefully, we'll be able to well knock some sense into your ruler," Eve says.
"Are you sure," James says.
"I'm sure of it. I really need to get going. I'm kind of on an important mission," Eve says.
"Again, thank you for rescuing us," Henry says.
"It's no problem. I hope to see you again some time around," Eve says.
Then runs at super speed to continue with her next part of her mission. The next day after fighting against the Knights of the Underworld and saving the Townspeople from their wrath and the dungeon, Eve, Jazz, and Caliburn continue their journey to complete Nimue's task.
"It's close, but it seems you somehow made it," Caliburn says.
"I hate to admit it, but you're right about that. Those Knights of the Underworld are pretty strong, but I was still able to take care of those creeps," Eve says.
"Do not let it go to your head. There are still more of those beasts roaming around the kingdom," Caliburn says.
"True that," Eve says.
Jazz soon notices something and calls out, "Chao Chao."
Eve soon stops in her tracks.
Eve turns to Jazz, "What is it Jazz?"
"What's wrong?" Caliburn asks.
Suddenly, they hear crying and look ahead to see a young village girl.
Eve hurries over and asks, "What's wrong? Are you lost?"
The little girl answers, "A great big dragon attacked my village."
"A dragon!?" Eve asks, shocked.
"It took my Mommy and my Daddy and everybody away…" The girl answers. Then begins to cry again.
Eve looks to see the girl is in distress. Sure, Eve knows that she has Nimue's test to complete, but the little girl is scared and alone without her parents and she needs help. Eve decides what needs to be done about the situation.
She walks to the girl and pets her on the head, "You know where the dragon is, kid?"
"It's in the big cave at the bottom of that mountain," The girl says, pointing to a giant mountain distance away.
"Right. I'm on it. Your parents and the villagers will be saved in no time," Eve says.
But Caliburn quickly says, "Wait! Don't tell me you're going off to slay a dragon now!
"Yes, we are!" Eve says.
"What of the Lady's tests!? You will never make it in time!" Caliburn quickly says.
"Yeah, maybe, but…" Eve says.
Then says with a determined smile, "But I play by my own rules. And my rules and feel says that we must always help those in need."
Eve then turns to the child, "Don't worry, we'll rescue your parents and the villagers from this dragon."
The little girl smiles with tears and says, "Thank you."
Eve then grabs Caliburn and says, "Come on, Caliburn, let's get going."
Caliburn sighs in defeat, "Fine then…"
"Let's go," Eve says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz says.
Eve then uses her super speed to make her way towards the mountains to save the villagers from the dragon in its safe. Of course, that will mean that she might not be able to pass Nimue's test, but to Eve, when someone is in trouble, she must do what she can to help. The little girl remains behind, shows a smile on her face and is no longer crying. The sun shines through the trees and on to the little girl. However, her shadow doesn't match the little girl at all, but a familiar figure.
Time has gone by and Eve along with Caliburn and Jazz continue their journey across the fields to reach the mountain where the dragon lives. Of course, the adventure isn't easy when the Knights of the Underworld continue to attack her wherever she goes. Some of them even have weapons. Once she defeats her enemies, she continues to use her super speed to escape and bash any enemy she does.
Soon enough, Eve, Jazz, and Caliburn arrive at some stone area that seems to be in ruin.
"Whoa! This place looks amazing," Eve says.
"It appears that we've come across some ancient ruins," Caliburn says.
"I agree. I wonder what this place used to be," Eve says.
"It is difficult to tell. These ruins appear to be thousands of years old," Caliburn says.
"Probably. As much as I like to explore here, but we got some people to save and a dragon to stop," Eve says.
"Yes. Indeed we do," Caliburn says.
Eve begins to use her speed to get around their ancient ruins. There have been a lot of old pillars, buildings, road ways, stairs, and anything that could have been here in ancient times. Then, they also down the road as they walk up some of the stone staircase to find any hopes of the dragon's cave.
Jazz points ahead, "Chao Chao."
Eve and Caliburn look up.
"Looks like we're almost to the top," Eve says.
"It would appear that we've almost reached our goal," Calbiurn says.
"And not a moment too soon. Let's hurry and save the villagers," Eve says.
Eve and the others head up the stairs and soon find a large area that has hedges that are made of pure stone that is created to be a large circle.
"Chao," Jazz says in amazement.
"You're right Jazz. This place looks like stone henge. I read about it in the story of King Arthur," Eve says.
"Indeed, these stone henges are fascinating. However, we do not have any time for sightseeing. We must be on our…" Caliburn says.
Confused, Eve asks, "What is it, Caliburn?"
"Careful Eve, I think we are not alone here," Caliburn says.
Eve looks ahead to notice there is a shadowy figure up ahead.
Eve walks over and calmly asks, "I don't suppose you're gonna let me by?"
As Eve gets close, she can see the person standing in the middle of the henges is a knight. He is wearing redwood and silver metal helmet with visor, redwood and silver torso armor, silver gauntlets, redwood and golden forearm gauntlets, redwood and silver lower leg armor, and electric crimson, gray, and green metal shoes.
The knight is holding what appears to be two swords. However, they mostly resemble axes. They have a single silver edge with two spikes, attached to the side of brown curve surfaces with light brown swirl patterns, the heads of the swords are attached to hafts with metal staples and connected to the brown upper part of the white grips, and pointy golden pummels.
What really shocked Eve is to see the red dreadlocks that are hanging from the side of the knight's head, and recognize them anywhere.
"Knuckles?" Eve says, confused.
"Careful Eve, that is not the friend you speak up," Caliburn whispers.
"I know. I just hope he doesn't have that knuckleheaded personally like he does," Eve whispers to Caliburn.
But the knight hears Eve's statement and is anything, but pleased, "Ho! You dare mock Sir Gawain, knight of the Round Table!? An act most unwise, my friend!"
Not wanting problems, Eve quickly says, "Wait, wait! I'm not trying to pick a fight with you. I was heading to a cave to save some people from a dragon."
"Chao Chao," Jazz says.
But Gawain doesn't believe her, "Bah! You cannot fool me with your lies! No doubt you're after the dragon's treasure!"
"You have gotta be kidding me," Eve says, annoyed and facepalming her forehead.
"Chao Chao," Jazz says with a small frown.
Eve then says, "Listen, I can care less about some treasure a dragon has in his cave. I have more important things to worry about…"
Eve stops to see Gawain charges towards Eve and has his swords ready to fight, "You have defied King Arthur. This place shall be your grave!"
Eve quickly brings out Caliburn as she says, "Wait, hold on!"
Gawain then begins to swing his axe like blades at Eve. Eve quickly uses Caliburn to repel the attacks. Eve then swings her sword and attacks as Gawain blocks the attack. Eve and Gawain slashes their blade at one another. Eve then quickly brings out her own sword and swings it at Gawain. Eve swings both her swords at him as Gawain repels the attack.
"You're not half bad. But don't fool yourself into thinking that you can defeat me," Gawain says.
Eve then uses her sword to push Gawain back, "I so do not have the time for this."
"Yes, but it appears that we don't have any choice," Caliburn says.
"Yeah. We're going to have to fight him," Eve says.
Then thinks, "Now I know how Sonic feels when having to fight Knuckles because of Eggman's fibs. Then again, I had to fight him a few times, but still… I have to defeat him and go save the people inside the dragon's cave."
Eve sees Gawain charging towards them, and Eve quickly acts and uses her swords for defense. Eve then pushes Gawain back and swings her sword at him, but Gawain blocks the attacks with his swords. Eve and Gawain charge at each other as they continue to fight with their weapons. Jazz can't help but watch in concern to see Eve is fighting the knight that resembles one of her friends, and she knows him too.
"Chao," Jazz says, concerned.
Eve then acts and kicks her foot on his chest to send him back.
"Sir Gawain, we don't have to fight. There are people who are in trouble and I promised to help," Eve says.
"More of your annoying lives," Gawain says, and attacks Eve back.
Eve repels the attack using Caliburn.
"We have more important things to worry about than fighting against each other," Eve says.
Then pushes him away from her and unknown to her, her chest begins to glow the same blue color again without her knowledge.
Eve says, "I promised Merlina to help her with saving the king from that sword, and I promised a little girl to help save her parents and the villagers. I do what I have to do to save those who are in need."
Eve then charges at Gawain and swings her sword. Gawain fights back, but suddenly, Eve is able to use Caliburn to knock one of the axe swords off of Gawain's hand. Then she does the same for the other one.
Eve takes deep breaths as she sees Gawain has fallen and stunned that his swords are knocked from his hands.
"What. Was. Really. Intense," Eve says.
Jazz flies to Eve in concern, "Chao Chao."
"I'm okay Jazz. Don't worry," Eve says.
Suddenly, Gawain slams his fist to the ground in disgrace, "To lose to a mere apprentice... I have been disgraced!"
Eve becomes confused about what Gawain is talking about, soon she and Jazz panic to see Gawain pick up one of the swords and has it point to himself.
"Only death can remove this stain upon my honor," Gawain says, and prepares to give himself the blow.
Before he can perform the blow, Jazz grabs him by his dreadlock and pulls it back.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing, you strange creature?!" Gawain demands.
Then the sword is snatched away from him. Gawain turns his head to see Eve has taken one of the blades as she holds the other in her other hand.
"What do you think you're doing? You can just kill yourself like that. Besides, just because I've defeated you doesn't mean you have to kill yourself over it," eve says.
But Gawain shouts in rage, "Silence! Silence, I say! A Knight who fails their king is unfit to live!"
"Isn't there more to being a knight than just serving a king?" Eve questions.
"Huh!?" Gawain says, confused.
"Well, I always think a knight needs to protect the kingdom and the people who live there, not just the ruler of one. And it's also the king's job to protect his people," Eve says.
Then sighs, "Of course, as long as that ghost in the scabbard is possessing him, that's a different story."
"Possessed? Is that why the king changed?" Gawain asks.
"You got it. That's why Merlina had me brought here from my world. She thinks I might be able to help stop the scabbard and save the king being possessed by it," Eve says.
"I see. That explains why you fell out of the sky when the Royal Wizard performed the spell. However, you don't really look like a knight, but you seem to possess the skills of one. However, your knightly skills seem different than the training I have," Gawain says.
"I kind of figure you say that. As of now, I really need to get going. Like I said before, there are people who are being held captive by a dragon and need to rescue them," Eve says.
Eve then places Gawain's swords in her backpack. To Gawain's shock, she sees a familiar sword.
Gawain stands up and asks, "That's Lancelot's sword! How did you get it?"
"Well… I defeated Lancelot in a fight, but he simply left it behind," Eve says.
"What?" Gawain says, shocked.
"Indeed. Eve had a chance to give Lancelot the final blow, but she refused. It's like how she refused to allow you to give yourself the final blow. He asked as to why, and Eve said that isn't her way of being a knight. She follows her own path of being a knight in this world. After that, he decided to leave his sword behind, we suspect that Lancelot wanted her to have it as thanks for sparing his life," Caliburn says.
Hearing the statement from Caliburn really stunned Gawain. Eve has a chance to finish Lancelot, but refuses, just like how she refuses to allow him to end his own life. Eve decides to follow her own path.
Eve turns to Gawain, "I promise to return your sword in due time. Until then, I better get going."
Eve then leaves with Jazz and Gawain close behind. Gawain simply watch as Eve leaves for the mountain to where the dragon dwells.
Gawain says, "That girl is one odd knight. I better find Lancelot and see what that sword said is true."
Gawain then leaves the scene as Eve continues to travel to the dragon's cave to save the people trapped in the cave.
