AN: Hello again. We are continuing the Clone Wars tv show with the Harden sequence and should note our version has some differences and that will continue throughout this chapter. It will mostly follow Meagan and there is only a little of Obi-Wan as we just didn't want to follow the show, but it should be easy to follow. We soon be seeing more of Obi-Wan next chapter. Thanks again to all our readers and reviewers and any one that added us as favorites or alerts. We appreciate you.
Chapter Ninety-Four
**Obi-Wan's Point of view**
After Master Windu had taken the real Harden away, I meditated in the empty room, waiting for Anakin and Ahsoka come to arrest me. I knew it wouldn't be long but after everything I needed to center myself for the coming days ahead.
It wasn't that much later when Anakin burst into the room, Ahsoka behind him. I looked up slowly, intending to act drunk.
"What do you want?" I slurred, gazing at them, Anakin looking furious while Ahsoka was more concerned than angry.
"He's drunk." Anakin growled loud enough that anyone loitering in the hall could have heard him. "How dare you."
I glared at him, still slurring my words. "I took a job, got my money and enjoying it."
Anakin rushed over, grabbing my arms, pulling me up, glaring like Harden had really killed me. "I could kill you right now."
"Master." I heard Ahsoka protest somewhere behind Anakin.
"But the man you killed would rather see you rot in prison." Anakin growled as he and Ahsoka hustled me out of the building.
"See I can handle this just fine." Anakin whispered before he shoved me across the platform toward the guards at the Criminal Center.
I held back the sigh, knowing I probably deserved it. I didn't say a word as Anakin, with a sneer, turned me over to the prison officers, saying he would take care of me if I caused any problems.
**Meagan's Point of View**
Even after Master Yoda returned Sasha and I put her to bed, I decided to wait up. I wanted to hear from Anakin himself that my husband had been delivered safely to the prison. I paced around the apartment until finally I heard the door chime. Sensing Anakin, I let him in.
"How is he?" I asked as we sat down in the living area.
Anakin shrugged slightly. I could see he was worried. "Considering what his mission is, he is doing well."
I nodded, feeling a bit shaky. "Will he keep in touch with you?"
Anakin shook his head. "I think Master Windu set something up in the prison for Obi-Wan to communicate with him and Master Yoda."
I nodded, that having made sense. "Would you like anything?"
He shook his head. "Are you going to be okay?"
I managed a small smile. "As well as I could be in times such as these."
"Do you want me to stay with you tonight?"
I shook my head. "Thank you Anakin, but you should go home to Padme."
"Are you sure?" He asked, looking very concerned.
"I'm sure." He bid me goodnight, assuring me he would check in with me tomorrow.
"He did what?" I asked Master Windu as he came to me, saying he and Master Yoda heard from Obi-Wan.
"Apparently he caused a distraction that enabled some of the prisoners to rebel, which led to his escape with Bane and Eval." He explained for the second time. "He is hoping to get into the plans concerning the Chancellor."
"He's alright?" I asked, still not liking this.
The Jedi Master gave me a sympathetic smile. "As well as can be. He said he was having fun playing the bad guy."
I couldn't help but laugh, imagining Obi-Wan saying that. "Thank you. Please let me know if you hear anymore from him."
"I will."
I tried to keep myself busy but yet it was hard as I still had to act as a grieving widow. Of course keeping Sasha occupied took most of my time, keeping her working on her Jedi studies. Master Yoda took her for a couple hours most days to make sure she didn't get behind. Both Masters Yoda and Windu thought it would be best, at least for the next couple days, to keep Sasha from her clan, mostly to make sure she didn't slip and it got out Obi-Wan was really alive. Also, Anakin, true to his word, often checked on us, helping keep our spirits up.
One day, Master Windu called us to a meeting. My stomach turned, knowing it was about Obi-Wan. Anakin arrived moments after I did to join Masters Windu and Yoda. They explained Obi-Wan contacted them to ask them to take the bounty of the escaped criminals.
"Obi-Wan said they were having trouble getting around and thought if they could move more freely about it would be easier to foil the plot." Windu started out as Anakin looked rather thoughtful.
"I can understand that line of reasoning." Anakin pointed out. "But would it look suspicious on our parts if we do nothing?"
The Masters fell silent for long moments as we all considered the situation, what might be the best course of action.
"Right you could be." Master Yoda finally pointed out. "But protecting the Chancellor a top priority it is."
"Maybe Anakin and Ahsoka should pretend to chase them? To make it look better?" I finally ventured forward.
The three Jedi stared at me for long moments. "Not a bad idea." Anakin added. "But considering I can't really catch them, it might make us look more stupid."
The other two Masters agreed as Master Windu spoke. "I think we should wait and see what happens when the bounty is taken off, that might give Obi-Wan enough advantage where we can stop this."
With that Anakin and I left.
"How are you doing?" Padme asked me as we had tea together an afternoon or so later. "Are you sleeping better?"
I managed a small nervous smile, sipping my tea slowly. "Maybe a little."
I didn't feel like doing much talking as nervous as I was, afraid I would slip out the truth and someone else would hear it, though logically I knew Padme's staff was trustworthy. But when she invited me over, I couldn't really refuse her. I could only ignore my friends for so long before they became suspicious. I had been avoiding Dede, Jema and Bant for days.
Padme set down her tea and she reached over, patting my hand. "How is Sasha? I thought you might have brought her with you."
"Doing well as can be under the circumstances." Which thankfully was telling the truth. "Master Yoda has been helping her and he is with her now."
"That's good of him to spend extra time with her." Padme didn't comment further on it but made small talk about the weather and what had been playing in the opera.
She suddenly stopped and asked me. "I am sure you are aware I will be traveling to Naboo for the Festival."
I nodded. It was her home planet, I assumed she would be going.
"I am leaving in a couple days and will spend at least a little time while there. Why don't you and Sasha come with me?" She studied me for a moment before continuing. "Maybe it would be good for you to spend some time away from the Temple and your memories. Sasha I think, even now, would enjoy watching the light show."
I knew she would enjoy the trip to Naboo, despite the circumstances and getting away sounded wonderful. And if Obi-Wan would be there, I would want to help him if I could and see him right after this mission was over. But at the same time, concerns about it also crowded in my mind. "That sounds nice, though I wouldn't want to impose on anyone."
Padme shook her head. "Nonsense. There are plenty of guest suites in the palace and I will make sure you aren't disturbed."
I debated with myself for a long moment, Padme giving me space as she took the tea tray back into the kitchen. Anakin entered the apartment just a mere moment later.
"Did you…." I didn't even finish my statement as he sat next to me, slowly shaking his head.
"He'll be alright. He's strong." Anakin whispered, reaching over to squeeze my hand. "If they had discovered him, they would have claimed the kill."
I shuddered at the thought.
"Are you going with Padme to Naboo or maybe later with us?" He asked, changing the subject.
"I would like to go, but don't know about taking Sasha or leaving her behind either."
Anakin glanced toward the kitchen where Padme still was. "There will be other Senators and Diplomats attending, I think it would look strange to them, to see you but not Sasha so soon after Obi-Wan's death. It will be a good distraction to you both."
I felt inclined to agree but still nervous about it, but then again, this entire situation made me more than nervous.
Padme came back in again and she was pleased to hear me say that Sasha and I would be joining her.
A little bit later, Anakin took me back to the Temple. When I asked, he said he believed Padme was, at the very least, suspicious of the truth, if she hadn't already figured it out. Though we both knew she was wise enough not to reveal it.
The next day or two was tense to say the least, waiting for Obi-Wan to contact the Masters about the plan as the Council made their own plans. Master Windu and Yoda hadn't heard from him, leaving us to wonder what was going on. Even with our bond closed, I believed if he was dead, I would know, that my heart would feel it.
I found Master Windu in one of the rooms, looking over a map of Theed. He glanced up as I entered.
"Good morning, how are you?"
I managed a small smile. "As well as I can be. When are you leaving?"
"In several days. We are hoping to know more before journeying to Naboo." He watched me for a moment before continuing. "I do not think it would be wise for you to come with us. If Dooku is involved and suspicious of Obi-Wan's cover, it could put your life or his at grave risk."
"His life is already at risk." I told him, crossing my arms across my chest. "Padme invited me to join her and is leaving tomorrow. I am going with her."
"Meagan, they might have already discovered Obi-Wan and killed him. We haven't heard from him in days." I could tell he was worried, very worried.
I sighed. "I would know if he was dead. Besides if he thinks it is too dangerous to contact you through a comlink, if he has an inkling I am near, he may choose to contact me about the plan."
"Very well." Master Windu agreed and I didn't bother to tell him I was also taking Sasha. I didn't think he would like it.
Anakin and Ahsoka saw Padme, Sasha and I off to Naboo in the morning. Sasha and I mostly stayed in our cabin, though she really enjoyed watching us take off and enter hyperspace. Once we arrived on Naboo, Padme escorted us to our room and let us settle in. It was a suite with a small kitchenette which was already stocked with a nice table and chairs at which to eat. The living area was a nice size space with large windows and comfortable looking couches.
"Mummy look." Sasha was gazing out the window, pointing toward the waterfalls. "It's so pretty."
I couldn't help but admire the natural beauty. Padme was so thoughtful to pick this out for us, with the view and quite secluded from some of the other rooms.
"Get your bag Sasha and bring it into the bedroom." With mine already in hand, I was moving in that direction, calling over my shoulder.
Hearing her footsteps coming towards me, I entered the room. It was a good sized room with a very large bed which all three of us would sleep comfortably in. There was also a desk in the corner as well as another chair. We both dumped our belongings onto the bed before entering the refresher to find it elegant and good sized.
As Sasha was rather excited about being here and it had been days since she was this happy, I gave into her asking about exploring. We left through a side exit that led to some of the gardens. So under the roar of the waterfalls we walked down the pathways, admiring the trees and flowers, enjoying hearing the birds chirp. There was no one else around and it felt so peaceful. As we sat on a stone bench, I tugged my daughter into my lap and we just listened to the quietness of the garden.
"Mummy." Sasha asked some moments later. "Are we going to see Daddy soon?"
I gently kissed the top of her head. "I hope so."
"I miss him." She sounded a bit teary, making me wish this hadn't happened.
"Me too sweetheart, but it will be over soon." And I felt it would be, one way or the other.
Sasha soon grew restless and we walked back to the room. We had a nice dinner on our own and enjoyed a quiet evening, working on some work I brought along. Most of it was learning how to count, practicing her reading and such, lessons I could help her with. Once she was tucked into bed, the last few days taken their toll, I took a bath and crawled up next to my sleeping daughter. Just before falling asleep, I couldn't help but hope that Obi-Wan would be joining us soon.
Now for the quote. From one of our favorite tv shows, Star Trek the Next Generation, Season 3, episode Booby Trap.
Picard: It is exactly as they left it, Number One. In the bottle. [seeing his confusion]... The ship in the bottle. [further confusion] Good Lord, didn't anybody here build ships in bottles when they were boys?
Worf: I did not play with toys.
Data: I was never a boy.
O'Brien: [brightly] I did, sir.
[The others all look at O'Brien for a moment]
Picard: Thank you, Mister O'Brien. Energize.
[O'Brien beams Picard, Worf, and Data to the alien vessel. After the sequence is complete, he notices Riker, still staring at him.]
O'Brien: [defensively] I did! I really did! Ships in bottles? Great fun
Jessegreen99: Thank you for your compliment and glad you have enjoyed our story. It will continue through the end of the Clone Wars/ROTS where it comes to a conclusion. Though we are not sure of how many more chapters that may turn into. Maybe in a while we will know. Thanks again and hope you liked this chapter.
MissWisy: The sequence concerning Shad and his sisters was only featured in the first From Earth to Star Wars for a couple chapters. In chapter six, they were adopted by a family on their home planet and though they missed their birth parents, lived happily with them. I hope that helps explain it for you. Thanks again for reading and reviewing.
Sharnorasian Empire: That's okay, we know how that goes. It is quite fun to research things and get into your characters and maybe changing a rule or event and see where it takes you. That's sometimes the fun of fan fiction, getting different people's interpretations of events and characters. And yes, not everyone will agree, but that's okay. Thanks again and hope you enjoyed the chapter.
Arbiteramari: To answer your questions, here goes. Meagan watched some of the Star Wars movies, though not ROTS so she is not aware of what exactly happened. Unfortunately Meagan has, over time, forgotten things that happened in Star Wars cannon, especially as she has become a part of the galaxy and some things are in fact different. Meagan has told her family about Earth and especially her family, we mentioned in more of the earlier chapters of Part two and is also in Part One. I hope that explains things for you. Thanks again and we hope you enjoyed the continuation of the Harden sequence.
