Eve and the Black Knight Saga Episode 8: The Wizard's Sorrow, a Lost Light Awakens
Moments ago, Merlina the young wizard uses the scabbard's power to release a large ball of black and red energy and sends it to the sky. Soon, strange spike pillars rise high and destroy some of the castle walls. Eve with her team and the Knights of the Round Table hurry through the castle entry as the dark energy spreads. The dark energy explodes and creates a large opening in the red clouds. A purple, black, and red color vortex opens up.
Meanwhile in the castle hall, Eve, the Knights, and the others are hurrying to find a way out. As they run down the halls, the castle is beginning to collapse.
"We have to hurry! The castle is beginning to fall apart!" Gawain says.
The castle begins to crumble as the debris continues to fall down to the ground. The group continues to run down the halls and to escape the power of the scabbard Merlina releases.
"Who knew that wizard Merlina had such tremendous power?" Caliburn comments.
"I can't believe Merlina would do this? I thought she wanted to save the kingdom from the underworld," Eve says.
"We'll figure it out later, as of now, escaping and protecting the king is our top priority," Percival says.
"Yeah," Eve says, sounding unhappy.
Everyone hurry with their speed and are able to get out of the castle and run down the trail that leads them to the forest.
Lancelot asks, "Eve, do you know where we need to go?"
"I have one place where we can go. I just hope she has the answer to this problem," Eve says.
Time has gone by and Eve along with Caliburn, Jazz, and the Knights arrive at the lake where Nimue, the Lady of the Lake lives. Eve and the knights explain what happened and it's understood that they have a serious problem on their hands, especially about what happened to the real King Arthur. Nimue has Arthur resting in a small field of glowing blue flowers that has the power to heal and protect those who lay there.
Nimue sits down next to the king and says, "The healing flowers are doing their best to heal the king, but I can sense that his soul is no longer with him. If it's not done."
Then turns to Eve and the knights, "King Arthur will most certainly die."
Eve sadly says, "I see."
Jazz flies over and lands on the ground. Then sadly pets Arthur on the head. Jazz is sad because of the king's condition, and it doesn't help that he resembles Sonic.
Eve sadly says, "I still can't believe what happened. The spirit and the dark power has been inside of Merlina all this time. But yet, it still feels that Merlina is still in there."
"Yes. I believe the spirit and the dark power of the scabbard has taken control of Merlina's feelings, twisting it to fulfill her intention," Nimue says.
"It seems like it. She said something about fixing her grandfather's mistake and making the kingdom eternal. Does this have to do with King Arthur before, even though she may not act like it, I think I saw deep sadness when she saw King Arthur's lifeless body," Eve says.
Nimue becomes concerned to hear Eve's statement. Eve turns her head to notice the Knights are looking at the castle from a distance to see what is happening.
"So, it was all part of Merlina's plot…" Lancelot says.
"It keeps spreading…" Percival says.
Lancelot adds, "It's only a matter of time before the kingdom is consumed."
Gawain says in frustration and slams his fist to the ground, "Gah! The Knights of the Round Table... Must we simply stand and watch our kingdom's ruin!?"
"Gawain…" Percival replies.
Hearing that, Eve walks over to them, and asks, "What, are you gonna give up, just like that? Is that the best that chivalry of yours can do? Merlina is in big trouble, and we're not going to help her if we stand here and mope!"
"How dare you!" Gawain says.
"Listen. It's like I said before... Isn't there more to being a knight than serving a king?" Eve says.
Nimue walks over and says, "Sir Eve is right. And there's still time if you act now."
Nimue then creates a reflection of the map and four red dots appear around the castle
"Use the sacred swords to form a barrier around the castle," Nimue says.
"Do you think it will work?" Lancelot asks.
"It might be our only option to make sure the darkness doesn't spread across the kingdom," Nimue says.
"We have to use whatever chance we have. And we need to stop Merlina from whatever she is doing and get rid of that scabbard," Eve says.
"I agree. It might be our only option," Percival says.
Gawain turns to Eve, "You must be really angry, that Merlina got you involved in all this."
"I could care less at this point. Because when she first summoned me, I believe she really did want to save King Arthur and stop the Underworld, but the dark spirit within her must have taken over her and corrupted her. As of right now, Merlina is endangered by the scabbard's power and it must be destroyed… once and for all," Eve says.
Eve then says, "But I'm going to need your help to stop this. We won't be able to stop this unless we work together. It would King Arthur want. He would want you to continue fighting to stop all this, even if he's not with you at this time. Will you all help me?"
The three knights look at each other and nod their heads.
Percival says, "For the kingdom and its people!"
Soon, all three raise their swords.
Lancelot and Gawain say Percival's statement, "For the kingdom and its people!"
"I'm counting on ya!" Eve says.
"Sir Eve! What will you do!?" Percival asks, turning to Eve
"Once the barrier's up, I'll look for a chance to jump in and go face off Merlina," Eve says.
"Surely you jest!?" Percival asks, shocked.
"Nah... It's just how I roll," Eve says.
"Fare thee well. We, too, shall fulfill our appointed task," Percival says, raises her swords.
"Okay, but be careful. I wouldn't be surprised there would be a lot more Knights of the Underworld as of now," Eve says.
"Then it's best that we get started. I'll head to the pillar in Shrouded Forest," Lancelot says.
"I'll head to the Great Megalith," Gawain says.
"I'll go to the Cauldron that is in the Out lands," Percival says.
"Then I'll take the one in the Dragon's lair," Eve says.
"Then we all better hurry before the darkness spreads further," Percival says.
With that, everyone splits up to find a stone pillar to activate the barrier.
Eve turns to Nimue, "Nimue, take care of King Arthur. We'll find a way to save him."
"Of course. I'll do what I could over here and make sure the king is protected," Nimue says.
Eve nods her head and hits off. Nimue watches with a concern and shows a smile that is also full of hope.
In Shrouded Forest, Lancelot is using the magic from his shoes to skate across the forest. Because of the magic of the dark scabbard, the forest has changed to that of an icy climate. The forest looks like it's been covered in snow, and the trees and plants look like they're coming alive. As Lancelot travels through the forest, the Knights of the Underworld appear and begin to attack him. Lancelot uses his sword and powerful Chaos Energy to defeat them and continue forward. However, the plants and trees are coming alive and make it a challenge for Lanvelot. Lancelot uses his speed, sword, and power to get through the forest and is able to reach a dark cave. The knight then walks down the tunnel of the cave until he reaches a small ruin. The ruin has a stone pillar and a small stone in front of it. The stone creates a round symbol with rectangular ones sticking out of.
Lancelot walks to the pillar and says, "This must be a barrier stone."
Lancelot lifts his sword and smashes his sword into the stone. With that, the stone wall glows and depicts some ancient writing on it.
Lancelot reads the writing, "'This stone is but part of the ring that sealeth the Dark Hollow.'"
He becomes confused to see the writing, "'Dark Hollow?' What is Merlina up to now?'"
Then, somewhere in the Great Megalith, Gawain is in search of the stone pillar to create his part of the barrier. Soon, the monsters of the Underworld appear and begin to attack him. Gawain uses his twin sword to attack them from both sides. He soon reaches a fortress and the Knights of the Underworld continue to attack. Gawain fights them with his sacred sword as he makes his way through the large fortress. Luckily, he is able to get out of the fortress, but large spreads are being fired as he makes his escape. Gawain continues to fight against the Knights and defeat them. Then they disappear into a puff of smoke. Soon, Gawain finds himself traveling in some kind of ancient ruin and into one of the ancient halls. The Knights of the Underworld continue to attack as he continues to travel through the ruins. Finally, Gawain is able to reach the old room that has one of the stone pillars.
"Here it is," Gawain says.
He then smashes his sword into the stone, and like what happened with Lancelot, ancient writing appears on the stone..
Gawain reads the writing, "'When the sacred sword pierces stone, so shall return the power.'"
Gawain then begins to wonder, "What of Excalibur, greatest of all the sacred swords? The King wore its scabbard, but I never saw the sword itself…"
Then, somewhere in the Out lands at a place called the Cauldron, Percival is searching for the stone pillar .Where she sends up is a dark area full with volcanoes erupting like crazy. The Knight of the Grail continues to travel across the village until she is at the largest volcanic area. Lava spouts up and the volcano erupts massively. The Knights of the Underworld and other monsters begin to appear and try to attack Percival. The knight attacks the dark knights until they're defeated. Percival hurries and hop on a large boulder and travel across the river of lava. The lava carries her on the stone through the area. Percival continues to travel across the sea of lava until a lava geyser spouts up and gives her a way across the area to the mountains. Percival then climbs the mountain up and travels to the tunnel. After time of traveling, Percival is able to find the stone pillar and walks towards it.
"This must be it," Percival says.
She then raises her sword up and smashes the sword into the stone, and like before, ancient writing appears on the stone.
"Our fate is now in your hands, Sir Eve…" Percival says.
In the Dragon's lair, Eve is able to travel down the tunnel, but is already running into trouble with the Knights of the Underworld.
"I can't believe we have to go back here," Eve says.
"At least we don't have to worry about the dragon anymore," Caliburn says.
"Yeah, but…" Eve says.
Eve then slashes Calburn at the Knights of the Underworld.
"We still have to take care of these creeps," Eve says.
"So true," Caliburn says.
Eve continues to fight against the Knights of the Underworld. Eve is able to defeat some of the Knights and continue moving forward. Eve, Calburn, and Jazz continue to travel down the tunnels and caverns in the cave. The Knights of the Underworld aren't making any of this easy for her, but she knows that they need to defeat them and find the stone. Then, they plan to go after Merlina. Sometime later, Eve, Jazz, and Caliburn are able to find the Stone Pillar to help complete the barrier.
"This must be it," Eve says, and walks to the pillar.
Eve then smashes Caliburn into the stone, and ancient writing appears on the stone.
"Now, Eve!" Caliburn calls out.
"Alright, here we go!" Eve says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz says.
Eve, Jazz, and Caliburn hurry and jump into the barrier as it closes. Soon, all three are inside the tainted area where the castle is.
Meanwhile,Nimue is watching the map with the barrier up in her reflecting pool. However, the Dark Hollow from the scabbard continues to spread.
Nimue says in concern, "Oh, no! The barrier is too weak!"
Close to Castle Camelot, Eve, Jazz, and Caliburn look to see the Dark Hollow is growing bigger and is sucking the debris of the castle into the vortex.
"Now's the time. It's time to stop this once and for all," Eve says.
"Indeed," Caliburn says.
"Chao," Jazz says with a nod.
"Here we go!" Eve says.
With that, Eve holds Caliburn and Jazz holds on to Eve's head as the hedgehog makes her way to the castle. Eve hurries through the entryway of the castle and somewhere deep in the castle. The three continue to travel through the castle until they reach the end of the hall. They soon come across a slightly open door. Eve turns to Caliburn and Jazz who nod in reply. Eve gently opens the door and walks inside to see the castle throne room that has the walls, pillars, and other areas broken.
Sitting on the throne on the other side is Merlina, but her appearance changed entirely. Her skin has turned white, her long hair has turned to a violet blue color, and her eyes are amber yellow. Her clothes have changed as well: Black cloak with orange hemlines, yellow markings, white feather-like rims and red locks, black dress with purple markings, belt with red swirl symbol in the front, metal headband with purple gem.
Eve walks over as she calmly calls out, "Merlina!"
Merlina opens her eyes to see Eve who is holding Caliburn.
I've been expecting you," Merlina says.
"Just one question before we settle this. Why'd you do it? Weren't we trying to save this kingdom from the underworld?" Eve asks.
Merlina asks, "This kingdom will fail one way or another. Such is its fate."
"Huh?/Chaos?" Eve and Jazz reply, confused.
Then Merlina asks, "Do you know what is to become of this kingdom?"
Eve answers, "I actually do."
"Chao?" Jazz says, confused.
"It's complicated, Jazz. Even though King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table are legendary, the fate of them didn't end very well," Eve says.
"That is correct," Merlina says, and stands up from the throne.
Merlina walks forward as she says, "Lancelot and Gawain's rift shall doom the Round Table. Arthur is struck down by his son Mordred, and departs for Avalon."
Eve simply stands as she listens to Merlina, and she also knew what happened.
Merlina says, sadly, "This was to be our ideal world. But it will not last... King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table will end in ruin…."
"Merlina… does King Arthur mean anything to you. You called me Arthur when we met up before we met at the castle. And you only called him Arthur, not King at the time. I can only think of one reason, you and Arthur, you both are very close, weren't you?" Eve replies.
Merlina says, "Years ago, My grandfather Merlin found a young boy named Arthur. He was an orphan and he took him in. Soon, he and I became friends and companions. However, my grandfather predicted that he was destined for great things, and it showed when he became the ruler of this land. Sadly, when I saw my visions, it showed that we all will end in ruin. Arthur, my dear friend… the path that my grandfather led Arthur on led to nothing but mistakes…. But I can succeed with the power of the scabbard. Creating a kingdom that never ends." She then summons a flower.
Eve then remembers seeing the same flower Merlina picked up from before. That's when Merlina finally understands why Merlina is doing this. She wants to create a world that will never end. She wants to make sure King Arthur's legacy will last for all of time.
"Merlina, you can't create a world that will never end! Especially not in the expense of others," Eve says.
"My sorrow at its ruin runs deeper than the depths of the underworld. Do you not understand?" Merlina questions.
"Not like this!" Eve calls out, and charges towards Merlina.
But Merlina uses a force field as Eve slashes the blade at it. Eve soon repels and falls on her back.
"Your efforts are futile," Merlina says.
Eve then charges at Merlina again, but with the rapid slashing, Caliburn isn't breaking a force field. Eve soon, falls and skins on the ground. Eve struggles to get up. Suddenly, Merlina uses the dark power to create a shadow manifestation of the Black Knight of King Arthir with many tentacles from behind. The creature then swings one of its tentacles and swings it towards Eve.
Suddenly Caliburn cries out, "Eve!"
Then uses Eve's hand to raise it up to repel the attack.
"Caliburn!" Eve cries out.
"You fool! A knight must always be on his guard!" Caliburn says.
Merlina then commands the shadow to attack further and Caliburn has been cut in half. Eve is pushed back and falls to the ground. When Eve is able to lift herself up, she gasps in shock to see Caliburn's blade has been split in half.
"Caliburn!" Eve cries out in tears.
Eve quickly grabs the other half of the blade and looks at Caliburn whose face has disappeared.
Tears have fallen from her face, "Oh Caliburn… you protected me… didn't you?"
Eve turns to Merlina to see her face is no longer giving emotions. Eve then brings out her own sword and charges to Merlina.
Eve attacks as she cries out, "Merlina, stop this!"
Then it pushes back to the ground.
Eve gets back up and asks, "Is this what Arthur wants?!"
Eve then attacks the barrier again, but is pushed back again.
Just then, Merlina says, "It is time to end this."
Then uses the Dark shadow to create larger and powerful tentacles. Then commands them to attack Eve. Eve refuses to give up and continues to use the remains of Caliburn and her own sword to fight back. Just then, the tentacles attack Eve with full force and are being rapidly thrashed by the shadow's powers. Then Eve falls to the ground and skids on the floor. Eve grunts and groans to feel the pain on her body as she struggles to get up.
"Mer-Merlina…" Eve softly says.
Meanwhile, Nimue, Percival, Lancelot, and Gawain are watching form a reflecting pool above. They are seeing that Eve is pushing herself past her limits.
Percival cries out, "Sir Eve! You've done enough!"
Eve doesn't listen and pushes herself back up to stand on her shaking feet.
Suddenly, Eve hears Lancelot's voice, "No, Eve! There is no point in continuing!"
"I… I won't… I need to… save… Merlina…" Eve says.
Merlina then controls the shadow and strikes at Eve again. Eve falls and slams to the ground hard.
Suddenly, Gawain shouts, "You fool! This no longer has anything to do with chivalry! Get out of there! Run!"
Eve then slowly stands up back on her feet, and Eve says, "It was never about chivalry for me... I… I made a promise that I will help stop all this. I promise that I will help. I also promised someone that I will help them remember, help them get back home. And I… promised myself that I will save Merlina and destroy the scabbard and it's power once and for all. Even if it seems impossible at this point. I just gotta do what I gotta do, that's all. It's more than enough for me to keep going."
The knights then cry out, "Eve!"
Suddenly, a glowing light appears in the reflecting pool as Eve's chest begins to glow the blue light that is at its brightest. The Knights and Nimue are surprised to see the glowing lights appearing in the reflecting pool
"The long-lost light of the sacred sword!" Nimue says.
The turns to the Knights, "Quick, your swords!"
The knights act quickly and toss their sacred sword into the light. Just then, a strong gold beam of light rises from the pool and travels to Eve where she is strikes by the beam.
