High Stakes on the High Sea Saga Episode 2: Island Traveling

After starting their adventure out to sea of the strange new world, Sonic and Eve are riding on their water bikes while Marine captains the Ocean Tornado. As soon as they reach their first location, a place called Plant Kingdom. The place is a large jungle area that is full of trees, plants, and possible wildlife.

"A jungle, ay? Oh, that's a beaut!" Marine says, excited.

"The place looks very nice, but try not to wander off from us," Eve says.

"Guys, look! Don't these 'ere mushrooms look tasty? They're all over the place!" Marine says, and runs towards the mushrooms.

"Hey, uh, Marine...!" Sonic calls out.

"o worries, mate! No worries! I'll stick within cooee," Marine says, excited.

Sonic groans, "Man, she's hopeless…"

"At any rate, where are we? I've never seen anything like this. I think we need to go out and gather some more information," Tails replies.

"Yeah. I hope that we can find something here on this island," Sonic says.

"I wonder if that pirate Johnny is here," Cosmo replies.

"The only way to find out is to look around I guess," Eve says.

Maria calls out, "Marine, come back!"

Marine does come back and brings a lot of mushrooms.

Marine says, "I just saw the keenest thing! Don't you want to hear about it?"

"Er... no, not really," Sonic says.

"'Course you do, mate! There's these mushrooms bigger than my house! The outside world has so much ace stuff in it! I'm having so much fun I'm nearly knackered!" Marine says, excited.

"The world isn't just fun and games, Marine. You've got to be careful, too you kn…" Tails advise.

But Marine interrupts in excitement, Oh, hey, I have an idea! Why don't we call this 'ere place! 'Marine Island,' ay? That way we can commemorate our arriving 'ere on our very first adventure!"

The group looks at Marine and blink their eyes a few times.

"Um, I don't think she's listening," Maria says.

Cosmo nods her head, "Yes. She seems to want to have adventures."

Eve walks to Marine and says, "Marine, I know that you like to have adventures and stuff, but first we need to hunt down the pirate that has the gem you found."

"Oi, you're right! We need to find that swashbuckling pirate and get me gem back!" Marine says, determined.

"Maybe we can find some clues to where Johnny went," Cosmo says.

Suddenly, they hear a loud roaring sound.

"What was that?" Eve asks, concerned.

They soon feel the ground shaking and turn their heads to see something or someone coming out of the bushes. Running out of the bushes in a panic is a gray and white furred koala. He is wearing a yellow straw hat, green travelling backpack, and sandals.

Marine happily says, "Hey Tabby, it's great to see you! What are you doing here?!"

The koala runs past her as he screams, "As of now, trying to get away from a monster robot."

"Monster robot?" Cosmo says, confused.

Everyone looks back and sees a giant robot rampaging through the forest and to their location. The robot looks like a t-rex that has a yellow, orange, and lime-green triangle like pattern on its body, lime-green spikes on its back, green eyes, gray robotic parts on the legs, blue mouth and white teeth. It also has a red jewel on its forehead.

"It's a Robot Tyrannosaurus Rex!" Tails says, shocked.

"It looks like another Dr. Eggman Head badniks," Sonic says.

Eve brings out her sword, "And it appears we're in for another robot smashing."

"You read my mind, Eve," Sonic says.

Maria nervously says, "I… I… i want to help too…"

"Are you sure, Maria?" Sonic asks.

"I'm sure," Maria says, a little nervous.

"And we better do it fast, cause here it comes!" Marine says, surprised.

The robot Dino robot roars in anger and charges towards them. Jazz flies to Eve and glares at the Dino robot.

"Tails, take Marine and Cosmo, and get out of here," Sonic says.

"Right," Tails says.

Tails then leads the girls to safety.

The robot roars as it lowers its head fast to the ground. The three hedgehogs and little Chaos quickly dodge the attack. Eve then slashes at the dragon and is able to get a scratch on it. The robot roars in rage."

"Cha-Chaos Spear!" Maria shouts and throws the Chaos Spear.

The Chaos Spear hits the eye of the robotic Dino robot and roars even louder. Sonic then spins dashes and hits it on the chin, causing it to be thrown back.

Sonic lands on the ground and turns to Maria, "Nice shot, Maria!"

"Um, thank you," Maria says.

Sonic turns to see the Dino robot swinging its tail towards them. Sonic quickly grabs Maria and moves out of the way as the tail hits the sand. Eve uses her Chaos energy to create a bow and pulls the string to create an arrow out of Chaos Energy.

Eve shouts, "Chaos Arrow!"

Then fires the Chaos Arrow at the chest of the monster and it gives it an electrical burst. The Dino robot screams in agony as it moves around and charges at the three.

Sonic shouts, "Look out!"

Everyone quickly moves out of the way as the Dino robot charges past them and slams it's head against a tree. The Dino robot angrily turns its head towards the hedgehogs and the Chaos and begins to roar as it charges towards them. The three hedgehogs and Chao are running away from the Dino robot as fast as possible. Maria looks behind to see the T-Rex chasing them and notices the red gem on its forehead is breaking.

Maria asks, "Um, guys, there's a red gem on the dinosaur robot's head and it's breaking. Maybe that's where it's weak spot it."

"It's as good a plan as any. Eve, think you can use your sword on it?" Sonic replies.

Eve holds out her sword, "I'm on it."

Eve then uses her Chaos Energy to take herself to the sky as Sonic, Maria, and Jazz dodge the Dino's chomping robotic teeth. Eve quickly lands on the Dino's head and stabs it with her sword. With that, the gem shatters into pieces and the Dino robot roars as it begins to shut down. In the matter of seconds the robots fall to the ground and have been deactivated.

Maria sighs, "That… that was really close?"

Eve lands on the ground after defeating the robot and looks to see the others.

"Are you okay, Maria?"

"I'm okay. Do you think I did a good job?" Maria replies with a smile.

Eve pats Maria on the head, "You did a very good job Maria. You're actually getting better by using your Chaos Energy."

"Chao Chao," Jazz happily says and hugs Maria.

"Sonic! Eve! Maria!" Tails's voice calls out.

The group turns to see Tails, Marine, and Cosmo, along with the koala from earlier. They seem to be carrying a few green materials.

"Hey guys, are you all okay?" Tails asks.

"We're fine. Nothing we couldn't handle," Sonic says.

"Yes. We were able to stop it from attacking us," Maria says.

"And we also found green materials as well. We can use them to help fix the ship," Cosmo says, holding the materials.

"And we found some more food," Marine says.

"Good for you. So, are you okay, little guys, Tabby right?"

The koala answers, "Yes. I'm okay."

"It's great to see you again, mate," Marine says.

"You too, Marine," Tabby says.

"Tabby's a member of our village's youth associations. We call it the Coconut Crew!" Marine says.

"It's very fancy to meet you here. Are they new friends?" Tabby asks.

"Yep. They're my new crew. The hedgehogs are Sonic, Eve, and Maria, the fox is Tails, the green girl is Cosmo, and the little black and red cutie is Jazz," Marine says.

"Chao," Jazz happily says.

"It's nice to meet you, Tabby. Say, you wouldn't happen to know where a robot went off to have you? Sonic asks.

"A robot? There's been a lot of robots, including pirates around here lately, mainly Capt'n Whiskers' and his crew," Tabby says.

"We're looking for a robot that goes by Johnny. He's a green robot with a head of a torpedo. Apparently, he's part of Whiskers' crew," Eve says.

"Hmm. I think I did see a robot that matches the description. It actually went out to sea. But you don't want to go up against Captain Whisker and his robot crew! They're dangerous!" Tabby says.

"We actually have a history of meeting robots and trashing them. This Johnny won't be any different," Sonic says.

"And we need to go after him, he has something very important and we must get it back," Cosmo says.

"Okay. He heads out further out to sea. I think he's heading in the direction of an island. It's where you can find some ancient ruins. You need to sail forward where you'll reach Machine Island. Then you'll need to go west from there, where you'll find a place called the Hidden Isle," Tabber says.

"Thank you Tabber. That really helps a lot," Sonic says.

"You're welcome. I hope you all will be careful," Tabber says.

"We will," Cosmo says.

"Come on guys, we better get going," Sonic says.

"Right. We don't know how far Johnny went ahead," Eve says.

"Well then, let's set sails to Machine Island and then go to the Hidden Isle," Marine says.

After saying goodbye to Tabber and having the Ocean Tornado set, they sail off to the Machine Island and to find the Hidden Isle to find Johnny and the Chaos Emerald. They set sail for a while. As Tails take the wheel of the ship everyone looks out at sea to feel the wind blowing around them. And soon, they see a few dolphins jumping and swimming in the water.

Maria points out, "Look, there are dolphins swimming."

Eve, Jazz, and Cosmo look out themselves to see dolphins swimming in the water and jumping up as some perform some flips.

"Yeah. The ocean is full of many sea creatures, and the dolphins are very friendly," Marine says.

"They're so cute," Maria happily says.

Eve turns to Maria, "You're really enjoying it, right?"

Maria happily nods her head, "Yes. I'm really happy I'm going to enjoy this. I never thought going on adventures like this can be so much fun, getting to see so many things."

"Yes. And… I'm really happy you're going to be able to enjoy it with us now," Eve says and gives Maria a gentle smile.

Marine says, "I don't know what you talking about, but I'm glad you're able to help me have a grand adventure with y'all."

"Yeah. We're glad too," Sonic says.

Tails looks ahead, "Hey guys, I think I see an island up ahead."

Everyone looks forward to seeing an island closing in as they are sailing closer. Marine brings out her telescope and looks through it to see an island that is full of machines, steam coming out some tall pips and any other building made of metal, pipes, and other materials.

"Strewth! It really IS an island of machines! Reckon you've ever seen anything like that?" Marine says, excited.

"Can we see," Eve asks.

"Sure," Marine says, and passes them the telescope.

Eve looks at it to see the island, "Hmm, it kind of reminds me of Robotropolis, or Eggman's lair. It seems to be steam-powered."

Eve passes the telescope to Cosmos and she looks at it, "Wow! The island looks really interesting. I think you might light it there, Tails."

"Maybe so. We might be able to find more supplies," Tails says.

"Wonder if there's anyone who can help us figure out if Johnny went by here," Sonic says.

"Tabby did say that he's heading to the Hidden Isle and that we need to head west from Machine Island," Eve says.

"Plus, we already have plenty of supplies to last us a while," Maria says.

"Still, we should see if we can anyone has seen Johnny," Eve says.

Maria nods her head, "Okay."

Soon enough, the Ocean Tornado has reached Machine Island and is able to find a few robots and Koalas on the docks close by. They asked if they see Johnny who is a green robot with a torpedo for a head heading this way. According to some of the villagers, they have seen Johnny and sees him heading west to the Hidden Isle. Luckily, they know they are able to go in the right directions. They continue to sail west and it has taken them a while until it's close to sundown.

Marine groans and asks, "Are we there yet?"

"I don't know, but I'm sure we'll be there very soon," Tails says.

Maria yawns a little and says, "Sleepy… I'm feeling sleepy…"

"I wouldn't be surprised, we had a long day after everything has happened," Eve says.

"Yeah. And it's weird, we saw three different islands that we never heard of," Sonic says.

"I know what you mean. We've been traveling across Mobius for years and we have never seen any of these islands before," Eve says.

"Mobius? What are you mates talking about? You all must have hit your heads harder than I thought," Marine says, confused.

"What are you talking about?" Sonic asks.

Marine says, "I mean that this place isn't called Mobius. This is the Sol Dimension, that's the name of this place. I never heard of this Mobius."

"You mean… we're in a different world entirely?" Cosmo asks, shocked.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Marine asks.

"Wait a minute, did you say the Sol Dimension?" Eve asks.

Marine nods her head, "Yes…"

"If this is the Sol Dimension then that means…" Eve says, but suddenly, something hits the ship causing them to rock and interrupts Eve.

Everyone looks forward to seeing the bow of the boat stuck in the sand.

"I guess we made it to the Hidden Isle," Tails says.

"Ripper. Now let's go see if that metal swashbuckler is around here!" Marine says, and places the plane from the boat to the ground. Marine then hurries down the plank and lands on the sand. Then hurries across the area.

"Wait for us Marine!" Cosmo calls out.

"Don't take off without us!" Sonic calls out.

He sighs and says, "She's hopeless."

"Come on guys, let's go find her," Eve says.

Tails set the anchor down and packing up some supplies, everyone leaves the ship and into the jungle to go find their free spirited kid captain.

Sometime later somewhere in the beach Sonic, Eve, and the others continue to search for Marine. They travel through the jungle as they call out Marine's name, hoping to find her. Soon as they walk past the bushes, they see Marine standing in front of some strange ruins.

"Marine!" Eve calls out.

Marine turns to the others, "Hey gang, what took you so long?!"

"You ran off from us, remember." Sonic says.

"Aw don't worry, I'm an adventurer, you don't need to worry about anything," Marine says.

"I don't know why, but when she says not to worry, I can't help but worry," Eve says.

Sonic looks at the ruins and asks, "What in the world is this?"

The group looks in the middle of the ruins to see a strange stone altar.

"It looks like some kind of old altar," Tails says.

"I wonder what this altar is for," Maria says.

"Chao," Jazz replies.

Marine walks over to the altar and says, "Hey, look! I think it can be budged!"

"Marine, you probably shouldn't touch it," Tails advised.

"But I wanna see what it does!" Marine shouts.

"Be careful Marine," Cosmo says, concerned.

She touches the altar and soon the area around them begins to shake. They hear rumbling sounds and the earth shakes fast.

Marine screams, "Aaaaiiiieee! Earthquake!"

Soon, the earthquake stops.

Tails looks out to sea, "Hey, guys! Look at that!"

The group watches to see a large island rise from the ocean as the ground shakes and the ocean splashes around. The island is large and has a large cave. The area is also covered with different color coral. Everyone is shocked to see it.

Marine says, surprised, "Crikey! Something's comin' outta the water! What is that thing?!"

"I don't believe it!" Tails says, surprised.

"I can't believe what I'm seeing," Cosmo says, surprised as well.

"It's an island…" Sonic says.

"Wow! An island that was under the water," Maria says, surprised.

"Amazing," Eve says.

"Chao," Jazz replies.

"Do my eyes deceive me...?" Marine wonders looking forward.

Then shouts, "...or are we looking at a new challenge?"

Then turns to the others, "Come on, you blokes!"

Everyone looks at Marine.

"Well, I suppose we might as well check it out," Sonic says.

"It's not like we've got anything else to go," Tails says.

"Are you sure? We're supposed to be looking for Johnny," Cosmo asks, concerned.

"I know what you mean, but who knows, Johnny might actually be on that island," Eve says.

"I agree," Maria says.

"Chao Chao," Jazz says with glee..

"All right, mateys! Prepare for landing!" Marine shouts, and heads off.

The gang decides to head to the island to appear from down the sea. When they arrive, they are surprised to see so many different shapes and colors of sea coral.

Seeing the place, Marine shouts in excitement, "This place is a beaut! I didn't think that underwater caves like this even existed! It's like something out of a storybook! This is the best adventure ever!"

"It's very pretty. There are so many different coral in different colors and shapes," Maria says.

"It's amazing," Cosmo says.

"Okay, mates, stay close! I'll lead the way!" Marine says, and begins to head off.

But Sonic grabs Marine by her arm, "Marine, this could be dangerous."

Marine pulls her arm away, "Oy, I'M the captain! That means I get to lead!"

"Okay, fine! But stay behind me. After all, a captain needs bodyguards, right?" Sonic says.

"But I want to lead from the front!" Marine protests.

"But Marine, it could be really dangerous in here," Tails says.

Cosmo, Maria, and Jazz look down to notice some strange footprints on the ground.

"Um guys, look over here," Maria says.

The others turn their head and look to the ground.

"Those look at all these footprints!" Eve says.

They turn their heads, following the footprints and look to see they lead towards the cave.

"And they seem to head straight inside the cave," Maria says.

Sonic says, "Guys, we need to be very careful! It looks like someone else may already be inside somewhere."

"Do you think it could be Johnny?" Cosmo asks.

"Maybe, but judging by the footprints, there seems to be more than one being in the cave," Eve says.

Marine looks at the foot prints and says, "Hey, you're right! I won't let these buggers get away that easily!" Then runs off.

"Marine, wait! It could be dangerous!" Cosmo calls out.

"Man! She never knows when to quit…" Sonic says, annoyed.

"Never mind that, we have to go after her. If it is Johnny, it's possible that his pirate friends and this Captain Whisker might be in there as well," Eve says.

"You're right. Let's hurry in after her," Tails says.

"Then let's go," Sonic says.

"Jazz. Maria. Cosmo. Stay close," Eve says.

The three nod their heads in reply. With that, the group hurry inside the cave to find Marine and hope to find her before she finds trouble or trouble finds her. They hurry down the cave as they try to find Marine. They look around to see the coral reef and small and large lakes around the area. There is even a waterfall.

"This place is beautiful," Cosmo says.

"It is. I can't believe what I'm seeing. It's like a coral reef in the cave, but there isn't much water here," Eve says.

"Yeah, but we still need to find Marine before someone else does," Sonic says.

"Let's hurry," Eve says.

The group hurry down the caves to find Marine. Soon, they are able to see Marine and Eve quickly grabs her.

"Oi, what are you doing?! I'm about to beat some buccaneers!" Marine says.

"Marine, you can't go down the cave on your own. Someone else is in the cave besides up, and they might not be so friendly," Maria says.

"She's right. You need to stay with us, or you won't have any protection," Cosmo says.

Suddenly Sonic shushes them, "Sssssshhhhhh! Quiet, I think I heard someone."

The group stops talking and turns to hear some voices at the end of the cave. Sonic signals his hand as he quietly steps forward to see who it is. Everyone looks to see a large chamber and see someone is in there.

What they see is a robot that has an oval body. In the head, is a red tricorne with golden hemline and white pirate emblem on, with the symbol of a white skull with a white mustache. Only in the left eye, it has celestial, while the other does not, reflecting the band of the eye that some pirates use. The Mustache torso and his hands are covered by something like a red coat with golden hemlines, with sleeves in the shape of a skull. He also wears a brown baldric and belt.

The robot walks to the middle of the chamber to see a scepter. It has a black staff with a white triangular crystal on the bottom and a diamond orb shape on the top, with a triangular one on the bottom of a purple crescent. Along the outer side, it has a green, blue, yellow, and red jewel on it.

The robot maniacally laughs, "Heh heh heh... D'arr har har har! Shiver me timbers! It be the Jeweled Scepter!"

Sonic, Eve, and the others quietly sneak down the path that is leading them to the robotic pirate. They also see Johnny with them and two twin robots.

They're both small ovoid robots. One of them has the color scheme white, green, yellow, and gray. It also has a single horn on the head. The other is like the other, but it's green not blue, and has two horns on the head.

The red pirate says, "Looks like we'll be shippin' out sooner than I thought! D'arr har har har!

The small green robot says, "Good going, boss!"

"You're amazing, boss!" The blue one says.

Johnny says, "Yeah. Talk about a real find, captain."

The red pirate says, "D'arr har har har! Avast! Hurry up and grab that scepter, mateys!"

"Aya aya, sir!" Johnny and the two robots say.

Just then, Marine runs over and shouts, "Aha! 'ere we go!"

Sonic and the others hurry over.

"Huh? Who's that?" Sonic asks.

The robots and the others turn their heads to see Sonic, Eve, and the others.

The red robot angrily asks, "D'arr! Who might you be, you scallywags?"

"I think we should be the ones asking the questions here," Eve says.

"You'd best be staying away, lest you fancy windin' up in Davy Jones' Locker!" The red pirate says.

Marine sternly says, "We're not going anywhere, Whisker! You have caused a lot of trouble at my island home, and you have something that belongs to us."

"Well well, if it isn't the two hedgehogs and his annoying friends. You're here to get caught in another of my electric nets?" Johnny says.

"You caught us off guard last time, but we know some of your tricks," Sonic says.

"Yeah," Eve says.

The red robot turns to Johnny, "Ah, I see! Those be the fast hedgehogs ye be talking about, Johnny."

"Yes capt'n. They're the saps I ran into on the island back there," Johnny says.

"Captain?" Cosmo asks.

"So I'm assuming you're Captain Whiskers," Eve sternly says.

"Ye be right, little lady I also heard that you've been makin' trouble for one of the robots in the Plant Kingdom and giving Johnny a little trouble," The robot, Captain Whiskers says.

"That's right, and we're here to crash the party," Sonic says.

"And we like to have the emerald that you stole from us," Eve says.

Captain Whisker is not pleased, "Arrrgh! You dare give me orders little lady?!"

"That's right. And I can tell that you plan to steal that scepter, so you better leave the cave or we're going to give you a beating," Sonic says.

"Arrgh! You scallywags have no clue what ye in for! I'll make ye rue the day, you tangle with Capt'n Whisker and his crew!" The pirate captain says.

Cosmo and Maria grow concerned that Tails and Marine remain in front of them. Sonic and Eve, who pulls out her sword, prepare to take on the robot pirates.

Suddenly, they hear someone shout, "Hold it right there! I'm not letting you have the scepter!"

Just then, a burning ball of blaze dives down from out of nowhere and strikes close to where Captain Whiskers and his crew are standing. The robot pirates quickly step back in surprise and fright as the flames disappear. The group becomes surprised to see a purple cat wearing purple, white, and pink clothes begins to stand on her feet. She turns around to reveal her golden yellow eyes, and the red jewel on her forehead.

Seeing her face, Eve knows exactly who this cat is, "Blaze..."
