Danmachi: Old Friend

A/N: Merry Christmas everybody, I am here to deliver this chapter and apologize. I'm sorry to everyone who thought that I abandon the story, that is not the case, an unforeseen event happened and I wasn't able to write, I will talk more about it at the end, for now enjoy!.

And I do apologize if this does seem unpolished and rushed.

Chapter 5: Face Off

*Few Hours Before Fight, Bete's Pov*

I had been drinking for hours, thinking of different ways to beat the newbie, I hated him and everything he represented, he looked kind and soft and that is a couple things he didn't like. After drinking for I had passed out on the roof of the twilight manor. After a few hours of sleep I was awoken to the sounds of fighting, I had ignored it for a few minutes but it started to get on my nerves, the constant sound of swords clashing.

Getting fed up I looked down to see who was making all the noise and when I did, I got angry, I saw the newbie with Ais, 'Why is he everywhere?', I decided to watch and see what happens, but the more I watch the more I got angry, I could see the newbie get tossed around and then collapse and Ais would have him on her lap. Once they got up they decided to walk to the entrance but I had accidentally released a lot of killing intent and I could see that the newbie felt it, since I was exposed I decided to make my presence known and started to walk towards him, When I got close to him I swung my fist with a lot of force, but my fist didn't connect, the newbie had just barely dodged my fist, When I saw the newbie back up a bit I asked.

Bete: What did you do to Ais?."

*Bell's Pov*

I could clearly see it a dark aura had formed around Bete, he was ready to kill. I just stared at him, waiting for him to make his move, and when I saw his legs twitch I knew he was about to make his move. He was fast and agile but that didn't stop Bell, he knew his chances of winning were low, but not impossible.

As I get in to a fighting stance I start to observe Bete, trying to figure out what set him off. Before I could do anything he appeared right in front of me ready to end me, I immediately dodged out of the way by leaning back, which surprised him, As I was leaning back I spun around and instinctively went for his throat.

I caught him by surprise on that one, I watched as Bete jumped back and touch his neck, and when he did there was a little bit of red, there was a little bit of shock coming from his face before his face hardened as he spoke out.

Bete: "You've killed before." Bete had stated, he knew for a fact that I had killed before.

I just continued to stare at him to see if he makes another move.

*Normal Pov*

Ais was left in a stupor; she was walking beside Bell when Bete attacked, she was surprised by the attack and was brought out of her stupor when Bete said something.

Bete: "You've killed before." These are the words she heard from and she immediately turned her head toward Bell who had a cold aura around him.

Ais had never killed before, she's only incapacitated her enemies, so hearing that Bell killed people before brought a little shiver to her spine. Seeing Bell having a cold aura and hardened eyes made her doubt that she was seeing a cheerful Bell she's always seen.

Ais was once again brought out of her thoughts when she heard a crash and had seen Bell trying to hold his own against Bete. Once she saw Bell on the ground she immediately pulled out desperate and pointed it at Bete.

Ais: "Stop this Bete". Ais was angry that Bete had harmed Bell, she wanted to punish Bete for attacking Bell, but was stopped when a hand grabbed her shoulder, When she turned to see who it was, she had seen Bell he was shaking his head.

Bell: "Let me do this Aisy." Ais immediately stopped, she had wide eyes because he had called her a name she hadn't heard for years.

Ais: "Why?, You will get hurt." Bell just shook his head and stepped forward.

Bell: "This is something we have to settle on our own." The hardened stare and cold aura was replaced with a smile full of warmth, Ais saw this and decided she liked this Bell better than the one who looked like he wanted to kill. Ais decided she would do everything she can to not see Bell like that again, but she knew that it would be a challenge since they were still young and have years of adventuring left, as well as many challenges ahead of them.

Ais nodded and stepped back, and when she was a distance away she looked at Bell's eyes again and saw determination and conviction, he wanted to win, and he saw an enemy that wanted to harm him so he couldn't lose. Ais smiled at seeing his determination, 'you can do this' she internally thought.

The air around the two combatants was thick and uncomfortable, and any movement could trigger their attack. After a moment of silence Bete charged at Bell, in a blink of an eye he was in front of Bell, but in another blink we could see Bete go flying back into a tree. Bell had been prepared because he knew how fast bete was.

Bete: "What the hell was that?". Bete was now enraged he had been hit and was now lying down after hitting a tree, But he wasn't done, it was far from over.

Bell didn't even bother answering his question because he had to focus on the fight.

Bete: "RRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAA". Bete had yelled signaling his fury he was about to unleash onto bell.

The yell had attracted attention from everyone and went to go see what was going on and when they did they saw Bell and Bete fighting each other. Bloodlust was pooling out from Bete while Bell held his ground from it.

Bete immediately charged Bell with the intent to kill; unleashing a fury of kicks and punches, when they landed Bell started to fell a pain he hadn't felt in a long time. Blood was coming out of his head and he had a few fractured ribs, but he wouldn't quit he had to win, while he was being pummeled he was able to block one punch which gave Bell enough time to do some damage of his own, unleashing some punches so Bete has no time to recover, while he was beat Bete he felt himself get stronger and he knew it was his strength skill activating, Bell gave Bete one final punch a punch he put a lot of force into, and when it was delivered Bete was seen flying again but this time he landed into the Twilight Manor.

A huge dent into the mansion could be seen while bete was on the ground growling as he picked himself back up slowly.

Bell was panting, he had put a lot of force into that punch and that almost exhausted himself, Bell was still wary because he could see bete slowly getting up.

Bell: "Do you want to continue". Bell yelled out unsure if bete was going say something.

Bete: "FUCK YOU" Bete responded, he was humiliated by someone who was a lower level than him and he wanted to kill the problem so he decided to charge at Bell again. All of his rationality was gone and in came the beast, a mindless hunter who was about to eat its prey, the bloodlust he emitted was higher than when he started and some of the lower level members of the familia fainted while a couple of higher level members backed off or went to go look for the executives of the familia.

The control Bete had was null, all he wanted to do was kill, and the only thing he saw was Bell, his target.

Finn was doing paper work when he felt a rumble at first he thought it was the minor quakes they have been experiencing but that wasn't the case, when 2 members came rushing in and telling him that Bete and Bell were having a fight to the death. Finn had acted vigilantly and grabbed his spear, and ran towards where the fight was happening, when he got there he saw a bloodied Bell being held up by Bete and an unconscious Ais a few meters away. Bete looked like he was about to kill Bell and Finn knew he had to stop it.

Finn: "Bete stop this right n-" he was cut off when his thumb started to tingle but it wasn't like his normal light tingle it was a painful one, 'somethings coming' he thought, he was about to yell at Bete again but before he could he was engulfed in darkness.

*A Few Minutes Ago*

Bete kicked Bell, Bell didn't even have a chance to respond when he was on the ground, Bete was ruthless towards Bell and was just about to finish him off when Ais pointed her sword towards Bete, She was about to ask to let him go but was immediately knocked out by bete she was caught off guard By Bete in his state that she didn't see the fist that was about to hit her.

*Thump*

Was all Bell heard and when he saw Ais he got enraged, his blood was boiling, Bell was about to yell at Bete but was punched in the face repeatedly.

Bell could fell it, a darkness inside him was about to escape, the more he was hit the darker it got. It slowly consumed him as he started to physically change, His eyes turned black, nothing like anyone has ever seen, his hair as also died black, as the changes were happening Finns voice could be heard.

Finn: "Bete stop this right n-".

But that didn't stop him the growing anger inside of Bell finally released and when it did the whole twilight manor was engulfed in Darkness.

A/N: Now to explain what happened to me. A couple of days after I posted the last chapter I got into a really bad accident and was in a comatose state for a month and a little bit, after I woke up I had to do some rehabilitation and physiotherapy while doing that I was diagnosed with severe depression and didn't feel like doing anything but a couple of weeks before Christmas I started to feel happy again and felt like I needed to get a chapter out before I fall back into a depressive state, so that's what I am doing today.
