ArashiNokitsune: best to read to find out
Guest: it would be interesting to implement some of the RE puzzles but in all honesty, it would be too ridiculous. Yeah, the abandoned station as well as the crash that Nick and Judy were in though it went a bit differently. I actually found some RE/Zootopia crossovers but none of them are long and they have been abandoned years ago. I tried to shrink the block of text as best I can but the way I do it made it slightly difficult
Supersegways117: I'm still not sure about the crossover thing but at the moment it will stay a zombie Zootopia fic. Also, I thought about changing my user name from Fanreader to Fanwriter.
Wolfx1120: glad you like it
Chapter 3: Towards a destination
Judy had to run. She had to keep running. Since she had a few running zombies right behind her with a tiger and bear at the front of it. She turned her head to look behind her only to scream at how close a pair of teeth just snapped at her tail. "Ah!" she pushed herself hard as she ran into an alley, tossing whatever she could to be in their way. Looking behind her once more she had to jump hard to get out of the way that had the tiger lung at her that would have sliced her in half. To her great fortune, she saw a fire escape ladder low enough for her to reach. She did a bouncing run and hopped up and grabbed the lowest bar before rapidly pulling herself up as she felt the breath of one of the zombie mammals pass by her feet. She didn't stop moving and went up the ladder before she got to the scaffolding before she ran up the stairs and up toward the roof. She could still hear the moans of the horde below her as she pulled herself up onto the roof of an apartment building.
She tripped onto the ground and began to crawl away from the ladder until she was on the other side and leaning against the lege. She looked to the ladder as she was heaving, trying to regain her breath as she had run the hardest she ever had and nonstop for a while. She gulped as she felt her lungs burn. She kept her gaze on the ladder as she waited for a sign of one of them to just pop up and she would need to run again but after a few minutes of nothing but moans she figured that she was relatively safe
"*heave* what…*pant* is going on?" she brought up her paw to her chest as she tried to slow down her breathing but something that she noticed shocked her. She was trembling. Her entire body was unable to calm down after she went through the worst marathon she ever had, and she was a bunny so that said a lot. It only meant one thing.
She was afraid
No, Judy Hopps: fearless mammal and the first bunny officer for the first time in her life was terrified. She wrapped her arms around her body as she tried to stop the trembling. It all happened so fast. She spent her morning happily playing with the Otterton pups and happily talked to the Otterton adults with Nick. on the way to go out to do something else. Nick was about to tell him something when he suddenly moved and caused the Cruiser to lurch forward and they were then in a crash. Then she opened her eyes from it and then found herself in the middle of one of Nick's bad zombie movies.
After a few minutes, her adrenaline began to die down and so did the numbness it offered.
Judy winced as an intense pain shot through her leg and she looked down to see the shard of metal that she noticed earlier was still jammed in her leg. She also saw that her pant leg was soaked in blood and this meant two things. She was low on blood now, and she can no longer run at full speed. She had been able to keep up her seed due to fear and adrenaline. From all her running, the shard shimmied a bit and opened the wound more which made the idea of keeping it in to keep the blood flow low, useless. She reached into one of her pouches on her belt that held a small roll of bandages. It was something she kept on her incase either she or Nick were hurt.
She grabbed the shard and winced once again before she grit her teeth and pulled it out. She let out a small whimper as she did this before she began to wrap up the wound while breathing heavily. Once it was finished and wrapped tight, she let out a breath as she leaned back on the ledge. She tried her best to stay awake but from all that happened, she was unable to keep her eyes open. Her mind felt muddle as well from the blood loss but she was able to focus on one thing "...Nick….." she closed her eyes as she began to let unconsciousness take her "...please be safe."
~Nick~
What diety made pain so painful. "Ow." Nick had slowly made his way through alleyways, doing his best to try and make his way back to the rainforest district but it was far more eventful than he could have thought.
*SCREEEEEE CRASH*
Nick pressed himself against the wall at a corner in the alley before he moved his head to look and what had happened. He saw that a few cars crashed into each other, causing several others to pile up behind them both. Normally, he would go into his role as an officer but before he could take a slow step forward to go help the mammals in the pile-up but he wasn't the only one that witnessed the pile-up. A horde of zombies began to climb on top and find ways inside many of the cars. Screams could be heard and with how injured he was and with only a tranq gun that had a few darts, he knew that he could do nothing. His claws dug into his paw as he hated the idea of not being able to help but it was the reality of this situation.
He moved again through the alleys and was thankful that they were free of any of the undead. At least until a few mammals were running in the opposite direction towards him.
A capibara was running fast with a few other mammals behind him. An armadillo, a dingo, and a marmoset. While five random zombie mammals were after them. The biggest threat being a lion.
Nick pulled out his tranq dart and aimed at the cougar closest to the group. He aimed and took a shot at the zombie cat's shoulder but much to his shock it only stopped for a second before chasing them again. 'Damn it! Of course, darts don't work!' he lowered his gun before looking around for something to use
The capibara noticed him and saw the gun not pointing at the zombie mammals. "What the hell are you doing, Fox!?"
Nick turned his head to the capibara in time to have himself being shoved to the side as the larger mammal yanked his tranq away. Being too injured to bring up much resistance, he tripped back and into a few large mammal trash cans with the lid landing on top of him blocking him from sight. He winced as his ribs were screaming at him.
The animals all stopped as they watch the Capibara
The Capibara brought the gun up and pulled the trigger only for it to click signifying that it was empty. In a panic, he threw it at the zombies before running again pushing the other animals out of the way. This caused them to stumble a bit before they began running but due to the loss of speed they were caught by the horde with the lion still chasing the capibara who left the alley and onto the street
Nick pushed the lid off him and looked to see the sight of the dingo getting his lower jaw ripped off before the gazelle that did it began to eat where his mouth used to be. He was terrified at the sight as it was just so unnatural. Not just because it was a prey eating a predator but this was far worse than what a savage attack could be. He slowly back away from it and ran as fast as he could muster away from the sight. He was pushing his body as much as it could go and further. His fear overtook his pain. But as he ran he had a thought run through his head 'I could have helped! I could have done something!'
It was then a scream was heard. It was a scream of terror that was loud enough to be heard several streets away.
Nick didn't know how, but he knew that it was the capibara that ran away. After he ran a bit more he saw the tunnel that led to the Rainforest District and began making his way through it. He was fortunate to see that there weren't any zombies inside but there were a lot of empty vehicles. And as he kept going, he had one thought that was tearing him apart from the inside 'there was nothing I could do…..' he made it halfway through the tunnel before he saw why there were so many empty cars. Another pileup of cars with it crawling with zombies. "Damn it." to his ongoing luck he saw a maintenance door and quietly made his way to it. He looked to the zombies to see that some of them began making their way deeper into the tunnel. He grasped the handle 'please be open. Please be open.' to his relief the door opened and he quickly moved inside before any of the zombie mammals saw him. Once he closed the door he leaned against it and took a breath as he heard movement on the other side. 'Sweet cheese and crackers…..' he wanted to get some sleep as he was tired and in pain but he knew that he had no time to waste. So begrudgingly he got back up and made his way through the halls and hoped to find an exit into the rainforest district
*BOOM*
Judy gasped as she was jolted from her sleep from the loud noise. She looked around in confusion before she remembered what had happened. She got up and looked over the ledge towards where she heard the explosion and saw a plume of smoke a few streets away. "what could have happened over there?" it was then that she heard the screams of the people and the moans of the dead. She looked down to the street and her ears dropped at it.
The dead were breaking through windows and doors to get to a mammal that was still alive. A mammal had jumped out of a window on the fourth level with a horde following behind.
Judy could hear the mammal crash into the ground. The breaking of bones and squelch of the body made her feel sick. She heard a cry for help and she turned her head to see that the building directly across the street had a few sheep opening the window in a way to getaway. She began to move to go help them but the sharp pain in her leg when she lifted it caused her to stop as she remembered her leg injury. She looked back up as she heard a scream of pain and the sheep being pulled back into the building. She clenched her paw as once again there was nothing she could do to help.
There were times in her career that there were losses of life. She hated those times but she knew that the only thing she could do was to keep moving and make sure that it didn't happen again. 'How can Ido that now? Oh Nick, what would you say to this?' it was then that she remembered her radio. She had forgotten it since she had been running for her life. Grabbing it, she hit the call button since it was already set to the channel of Nick's radio. "Nick, do you read?"
{Brzzzzz}
"Nick, please respond."
{bzzz}
She dropped the radio and sighed "Sweet cheese, where are you when I need you the most, Nick." she then reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She dialed Nick's number only to get the answering machine
{Hey, you've got Nick. Gotta hustle? Then wait for the beep and tell me the score.}
Judy smiled at this as she wondered how it was that he didn't get in trouble with Bogo. she waited for the beep "Nick, please, if you get this call me and tell me where you are…..I need you." once she was finished, she then began to dial in the number for the chief
~Bogo~
The chief was driving through the streets with as many mammals he could fit inside the swat truck. He kept swerving around some of the zombies to avoid causing slowdown with the truck but this caused some of them to chase the vehicle. Every single truck they had were stock full of mammals and there were a few cruisers ahead of him. They had been driving for a while trying to find any survivors. They were fortunate enough to have picked up a couple of mammals and put them inside some of the cruisers. In all honesty, he had no idea how to handle this situation. Riots? He can handle it. Mobs? No problem. This? How do you respond to a city falling to a zombie outbreak without any warning?
{sir?}
Bogo grabbed the radio and responded, "what is it Fangmeyer?"
{we got a radio call from Swineton. She says that the prison has been compromised and the undead are growing in numbers.}
Bogo cursed under his breath as he thought about what he should do. With how the city was going it might not be worth keeping order in the facility that might fall. With a heavy sigh, he spoke "order her to gather any survivors and….abandon the facility."
{sir?}
"There are no protocols for this and I do not want to risk any officers. Tell her to take her radio along with all survivors she can save and hide away from the undead. We are going to go retrieve them as soon as we can."
Fangmeyer looked to Ben who was sitting next to her as they both had an expression saying that they were shocked to hear this. She cleared her throat as she spoke to Bogo again "sir any word from Hopps, Wilde, Delgato, Grizzoli, Rhinowhitz, or Howlzer?"
{*sigh* nothing. I can't reach them on the radio, which means that they are out of range or not in their cruisers.}
"What about their phones?"
{the ones I call aren't picking up and Wilde's is going straight to voice mail. I do not remember Hopp's or Howlzer's."
Ben slumped as he mumbled to himself "if only I didn't lose my phone on the way out."
Fangmeyer put the radio down as she patted him on the shoulder "it's not your fault Ben. we were all rushing out so something like that was bound to happen. I mean the chief left his in his office."
Wolford popped his head up to them as he spoke "Let's just be glad that we all got out. And if I know those guys, they should be fine."
The two felines nodded as they continued driving.
Until
*CRASH*
Their truck was hit by something hard and almost tripped the car over
Fangmeyer spun the wheel to try and keep it steady. "What hit us!?"
An Antelope looked out the window at the side that now has a dent in it. But what he saw caused his jaw to drop. "...Rhinowhitz…."
{what happened}
Fangmeyer grabbed the radio "sir something rammed into us."
The antelope ran moved quickly to the front and yanked the radio "sir, it's Rhinowhitz…..he...is one of them."
Ben looked outside and felt his mood drop lower as he saw the torn up uniform of the Rhino officer they lost contact with. But the eyes the rhino had were dead, glassy and there was a small chunk missing from his arm.
Wolford growled as he grabbed a shotgun and pointed it outside at the now charging rhino. He held his aim as he whispered "sorry, Stan."
*BANG*
The shot had hit the rhino's horn which blocked most of it but the left side of his head was now missing. The rhino collapsed to the ground as it bled.
{are you all alright?}
Fangmeyer grabbed the radio once again as she spoke somberly "yes sir. Biggest threat….has been neutralized
There was a long silence before the radio buzzed again
{catch up with us…...we still have a job to do. We are heading to Tundra Town"
"...yes sir."
There was no more talk in any of the trucks as the news was spread to all of them. And although it wasn't said, they assumed that Howlzer was also dead. They all hoped that by some miracle that the other missing officers were still alive
~Nick~
Nick wondered how he was still alive.
He had found an exit that led to a pathway that led to the rainforest district and to his ever-waning luck it was close to the Ottertons. He even found a small pipe. But his luck was starting to wane as he had to run away from a few zombie mammals. He was able to kill a few with a quick swipe of his pipe on their head. He was able to hide from them by jumping over a trashcan and hiding inside. 'I can't keep this up.' he tried his best to quietly breathe, despite the foul smell of the trash he was sitting on. Once he got his breathing to a more stable level he poked his head out of the trashcan and to his shock the Otterton household was just across the street. The bad news was that there was a group of mammals banging on their door. 'NO!' he looked around and saw that there were some more zombies heading towards the household. He didn't know if they were still alive but if there was a chance to save them, he was going to take it. He took a few deep breaths, made sure there aren't any zombies nearby, and jumped out of the can before running towards the group banging on the Ottertons door. He didn't waste any time slamming the pipe into the head of one of them before swinging at another.
The zombies turned to look at what made the noise before lunging at Nick
Nick jumped back to avoid a bite at his feet before bringing the pipe down on its head. He heard the skull shatter and could not help but feel disgusted at the sound. He brought the pipe up as another pair of jaws came way too close to him. He shoved the pipe in its mouth horizontally while falling on his back which caused him to yelp in pain. He didn't have time to think about the pain as he rolled to the side sending the zombie off him and speared the pipe into its eye socket, killing it. He looked back in time to see the last three on the lawn closing in on him. He pulled out the pipe and swung at the closest one in the head, taking it down, before pulling the pipe back and shoved it into the mouth of the second one. The last one was stumbling to him and he pulled out his taser, set it to the max, shoved it into its eyes, and turned it on.
The shock from the taser hitting a key point in the body caused the body to twitch for a few seconds before the body collapsed.
Nick was heaving as he looked at all the downed bodies. He was fortunate that the mammals here were on the smaller side. He shook his head as his vision was now failing him but he still made his way to the door. 'Please….be alive…..please tell me I did something right.' he looked around to see that the commotion had caught the attention of the other zombies that slowly began to make their way towards him. He kept moving until he made it to the door. He brought his arm up before pressing the doorbell and speaking as much as he could "*gulp* Di….delivery … need….signature from…..you or I could ….lose my job at Wilde's delivery service….." for a few agonizing seconds of nothing he began to fear that he was too late. Until he heard movement from the other side of the door, the door lock being undone and a bolt lock moving. He saw that the door opened to see two pairs of eyes and brown fur peeking through the crack of the door.
The door then opened wide as Olivia spoke "Nick?!"
Nick smiled at the sight as he mustered all his usual fox behavior to let out a very quiet "Emmet….! Olivia…!" and with that, he finally lost consciousness.
~Judy~
She was glad that her idea was keeping her alive. She had been roof hopping towards the precinct as best she could. It was a direct path and if she stayed on the roofs she could avoid the horde on the ground. She had given up calling her boss or Clawhauser since neither of them were picking up. Not only that but after a few attempts, her phone also lost signal which just caused her to be frustrated at how nothing was going her way. However, she was now worried about her workplace, wondering if the zombies had taken it over. But she shook her head to get rid of those thoughts. She would hold the hope that it would still be standing and Bogo and Clawhauser just couldn't reach the phone. Unfortunately, she made it to the closest building rooftop and her heart sank.
Zombies were spilling in and out of the precinct. "No." she fell to her knees, ignoring the pain as she saw what she had worked so hard to get into was now flooding with the undead. This whole day had turned everything she loved into nothing but a husk of what it used to be. She also thought about all her coworkers and friends that might have been killed and eaten. She closed her eyes and let her tears fall.
After a few seconds on her knees, her ears perked up as her eyes shot open. She could hear it. It was faint but she could hear it coming from inside the precinct.
*bang bang*
Gunshots. From live firearms. "Someone is still in there!" with new determination she got to her feet and looked around for the best way to get to the building.
Someone was still alive in there and she would be damned if she didn't help
End of chapter
Who is still in the precinct find out next time and see how the Ottertons are taking this
Ok I gotta ask, do you guys want me to put in sections that explain things that are happening in other locations of the city such as the cell towers being taken down, I did not plan on adding those things and let you imagine it happening but if you want I can write it out.
also, I will just be referring to the zombies as zombies. What I mean is that I won't give the mammals in the crowd since it would just be extremely tedious. Small groups, I can do but for more, it would just be page filing. I will add important factors such as larger animals but that is to help out some of their actions
Flames will be ignored.
