"I'm . . . sorry, Kara, but . . . I just got out of a relationship. I need a while."
"O-oh, I . . . I understand."
~~~~~~~~
Kara stumbled into the bar.
She spied Mon-El, but she moved to sit at the other end of the room.
She barely looked his way as he brought her a her Club Soda. She needed to have her space. Mon-El could understand that.
"Kara, I-"
He was cut off as the Kryptonian waved her hand dismissively in his direction, "I just want to be alone, Mon-El."
He nodded, stalking back to his place behind the counter. He watched Kara from a distance, admiring her curly blond hair, her beautiful blue eyes.
The perfect person in his eyes.
But he needed time to sort out how his feelings - and unintentionally caused Kara to be hurt. He couldn't stand looking at those tear-filled eyes, wondering how he would make it up to her.
As Kara downed more Club Soda, she reminisced about how she had rejected Lena.This must be how she had felt.
Then, a familiar muscular man walked to the table, "Excuse me, is this seat taken?"
Kara looked around, "There are plenty of other seats around - why do you need to sit here?"
"I was trying to be approachable," the man, Thomas Brent, or Tom, she recognised, took a seat opposite her, "Tell me, what's a beauty like you doing here all alone? And crying, nonetheless."
"W-well," Kara said, between sniffles, "I had confessed to my friend, and he kind of . . . rejected me."
"Why would he do that to someone like you?"
"He's right there," Kara pointed, and noticed Mon-El staring at her, forehead creased. She ignored him.
"We're childhood friends, and we had only recently reunited. But I realised that my feelings for him now is so different from what I had felt back then . . . it scared me," Kara said, not caring if Mon-El's hearing allowed him to listen in. "When I found out that he had broken up with his Titanian girlfriend, I had decided to confess."
Kara wiped her tears, gulping down another mouth of Club Soda, "Thanks. I really needed someone to talk to."
"No worries."
"I don't believe we've been introduced, I'm Kara Zor-El from the planet Krypton."
"My name is Halk Kar, and I'm from Thoron."
"Another planet in Krypton's solar system . . . " Kara gasped. Up till now, there had only been two Kryptonians and one Daxamite. Who knew that a Thoronian had survived the destruction of the two other planets as well!
Her new friend simply nodded. "When Krypton exploded, my planet was also affected. Having only three planets in our solar system, Daxam, being the closest to Krypton, was the most severely impacted. Thoron had been having some issues, but when debris that somehow missed Daxam rained down on Thoron, I was sent, as a kid, to seek help from one of the leaders of Krypton - Jor-L. He sent me to Earth in a Kryptonian pod, but I had landed in somewhere where the time doesn't pass, though I'm not quite sure where, and how I got here."
[A/N: In the comics, Jor-El was also occasionally called Jor-L.]
He looked over his shoulder to the man at the counter, "I assume your friend, uhm, M'Onel, I think, was from Daxam?"
"His name is Mon-El, and how'd you know?"
"Lucky guess." Halk Kar shrugged, "But I heard Daxam was really formed because of Kryptonian colonists."
"I have heard that too, but I'm honestly not too sure."
Kara smiled. She had someone new to talk to.
Someone that wasn't Mon-El.
She took in a deep breath, "Thank you."
"No problem."
"But will you stop flirting with me? It makes me quite uncomfortable."
"If you ask, it will be given."
"So, I know that you'reThomas Brent."
"H-how?"
"You don't recognise me?" Kara looked quizzically at him. He shook his head. "Yesterday, at the park, I showed you the directions . . . "
His eyes widened, "Forgive me, I couldn't tell in this lighting."
Kara chuckled, "It's okay."
"But may I ask for your . . . Earthen name?"
"That is something I am not inclined to discuss."
"Fair enough. But if you trust me enough, will you tell me?"
"Perhaps . . . "
"Then we shall meet again tomorrow, maybe at the park you met me?"
Kara looked at her friend, then back at the Thoronian, "Sure, I don't see why not."
A/N: This will be the final chapter I post in a while - don't worry, I'll be back, but it may be a month or so. I'm just taking a quick break from studying, revision and homework for a while. Then back on hiatus. Hope you haven't forgotten about me or this story.
By the way, did you hear about the news? Supergirl Season 6 is the final season. It was the show that got me into the Arrowverse in the first place . . . :'(
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter . . . I had no clue what I was writing. XD
