Chapter 4: Unity
It has already been a week since the first time I've met Naruto. Ever since he arrived, the whole Hyuga household felt ecstatic, they were all willing to go to great lengths just to impress him.
I haven't gotten the chance to talk to him again, father is always talking something about business with him. It's kind of funny though. Sometimes I could see how he wants to get out of the conversation they're having but is too kind to do so.
"Ms. Hinata? Are you finished preparing? Mr. Uzumaki is already waiting for you." One of the servants asked
"I'll be out in a minute." I quickly replied
Right, we'll be meeting the wedding organizer today. It seems like I have to come up with a plan as soon as possible. 'Should I disagree with whatever choice he has?' well, that would be petty of me.
During the car ride, I kept on thinking about the wedding ceremony. Not the wedding that was about to happen between me and Naruto, but the wedding I have been dreaming of since I was a child.
'I want the place to be filled with white lilies and lavenders, my family and friends are all present and cinnamon buns is a must.' I thought giggling to myself, 'It doesn't have to be extravagant or sensational, I just want to be with the person I love the most, none other than-'
"Hinata, are you okay?" Naruto's voice brought me back to reality.
"Yeah, I am fine. Is there something wrong?"
"Well, it looks like we've arrived. You ready?"
The wedding I've been dreaming of will never happen, especially since he is the one with me right now.
I managed to force a smile and answer him with, "Ready as I'll ever be."
We were supposed to meet the organizer of the wedding in Yakiniku's Restaurant, one of the servers lead us to a woman with long black hair and unique red eyes. She waved a hand on us letting us know that she is the one we're looking for.
"Good day. I am Kurenai Yuhi, your wedding organizer. It is a pleasure to meet both of you." The woman said while shaking our hands
"The pleasure is all mine Ms. Yuhi, I am Naruto Uzumaki."
"And I am Hinata Hyuga."
"Kurenai will do. Before we proceed, would you like to order first?"
After taking our orders the server quickly left and we began to discuss the wedding ceremony.
"I'd like to hear all your opinions, both of you. And I'll do my best to make it to reality." Kurenai said as she began to prepare to take down notes. She smiled softly to us and I can see her confidence in her craft.
"Why don't we begin with the number of people who will attend?" the lady asked
"I am pretty sure my father would invite a lot of people. This wedding is important to him after all." I said hiding the bitterness as much as I can
"Looks like he is excited for his firstborn's wedding." Kurenai replied
'Ugh, only if she knew that this was an arranged marriage.'
We were able to discuss most of the wedding details and there is no doubt that this wedding will be deemed as the wedding of the century.
The ceremony will be held in the Leaf's largest church and the reception will take place in the finest hotel as well in order to accommodate a large number of people.
I already expected the wedding to be the most extravagant wedding in the history, and there's no doubt about that. We have a great wedding planner and have all the resources we need.
But something's not right.
All throughout the meeting, Naruto didn't say anything, he kept a blank expression. He would nod occasionally, but most of the time he would just listen to me and Kurenai.
If feels like he has something to say. 'Does he think it is still not up to his standards?
For the past few days, the only expression that could be seen on his face would be his warm smile, so the one he is wearing right now is foreign to me.
It bothered me to see him like this "Are you alright?" I asked
"Yeah, I'm fine." His expression hardly changed
"This is exhausting," I muttered to myself "Good thing the meeting is about to finish."
Kurenai briefed us about the things we discussed, starting from the visitors up to the place where the wedding would take place
"We were able to finish most of the wedding details today, it looks like you already had planned how the ceremony would look like, Hinata." She said
I gave her a small smile and thanked her for her efforts 'I basically aligned everything to how a someone of my status would typically plan for her wedding'
Finally, the meeting came to an end. We got out of the restaurant and parted ways leaving me and Naruto in an awkward silence.
'What's gotten into this guy? He hasn't uttered a single word since we began to plan and when Kurenai leave.'
"That went well." I said trying to break the deafening silence between us
"I… I'm not sure about that." Naruto said with a frown
It surprised me. I mean why would he say something like that "What?! Why?! Is there something wrong about what we've chosen? Its pretty satisfying to me."
It is true that I am not fond of what we've decided on, but its not bad. It's the ideal wedding to be honest.
"You decided on it. I didn't suggest any of it." He said
'Wow, so it's my fault now?'
"Excuse me? You nod with whatever we said a while ago." I am not angry with him, I was just shocked with what he said, it was so sudden.
"I'm sorry that came out wrong." Naruto said with an apologetic look and continued "It's just… I don't want any of that."
"What do you mean?"
"Isn't a wedding supposed to be special?"
"That looks special to me. Its fancy and-"
He cut me off "Do you want that?" I just looked at him
Naruto sighed "I don't want all those fancy things. I just want my special people to be there, to witness that I am marrying the person I love the most. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?"
'Is what he saying his ideal wedding? He has a point but I guess that's impossible since we don't like each other. This is only forced upon us.'
"You're right. But too bad we aren't those couples who love each other." I told him
"Yeah, we aren't, but I'd like you to have your ideal version of your wedding, even if it's with me."
I looked at him completely bewildered
'How did he know? It is true that I prefer a simpler wedding, but how did he have any idea of my dream wedding.'
"Hinata, if its okay with you, I would like to change what we have already discussed with Kurenai."
"But that's what I want." I told him
"That's what your father wants Hinata. From the moment I saw you I could already tell that you aren't someone who wishes for those kinds of things, I don't know how though."
"Even so my father would disagree with how I would like my wedding to look like."
"It doesn't matter." His voice sounded firm and with assurance "What's more important is you and your decision. After all you're the one getting married" He said "So do you agree?"
I can't remember the last time someone said to me directly that my decision is important. Or that I am important.
How can he say that I have the right to decide? And why do I feel like this? Like I am…
"Alright. But if father suddenly gone berserk then-"
"Then I'll take the blame."
"Wait! that's not what I am going to say, you don't have to do such thing because-"
"It's my decision."
"Our decision." I corrected him. "So, don't you dare do that. Got it?"
He was looking into my eyes searching for any second thoughts in it, then after sometime I saw how his lips curved into a smile. He finally replied saying "I promise."
