Hello and Good Day! Today is December 5th, meaning 20 days til Christmas! This was actually written last year, over the summer, but I didn't want to post it until Christmas time, so here it is! I hope you enjoy! Written by Ruth. Disclaimer: WE DO NOT OWN WHAT RICK OWNS!
"Come on, Wise Girl." I complain to Annabeth. She's on the couch, snuggled in a blanket, reading, and looking adorable as ever. I want to go tree hunting, but she refuses. "It's Christmas."
"Yeah. And it's cold."
"I'll keep you warm." I tell her, putting my chin on her knee and giving her my famous seal eyes. She looks at me, then sighs.
"Fine. Let me go get changed."
"Yes!" I shout. I kiss her before she gets up to go change.
When she heads to our room, I sit on the couch and wait for her to come out. 10 minutes later, she comes out in beanie, a coat, jeans, and winter boots. She looks absolutely beautiful.
We head to the door and I grab my coat. We walk outside our apartment and I lock the door. I throw my arm around her shoulders and pull her in close to me. I kiss the top of her head. Her hair smells good. "See. Told you I'll keep you warm."
"I guess. But if it gets too cold, we're heading back." she informs me, looking up at me.
"Deal."
"Can we get hot chocolate?" She asks, the New York wind biting our faces.
"Whatever you want, Wise Girl. I think they have a stand at the place." I tell her as we hop in our car. We don't really use it because of the subways, but I figured we'd need it.
"Okay." Annabeth turns on the radio and Kelly sings out her famous 'Underneath the Tree' song. Annabeth's eyes light up and she turns it up louder. "I love this song!"
This song is pretty great, not gonna lie. We sing along; her voice as soft as an angels and mine terribly off key. Wise Girl laughs at my singing.
"Shut up. I don't sound that bad." I pout.
She laughs more and I pout more. She can barley get her words out because she's laughing so hard. "Y-yes you d-do."
"Whatever."
It takes about 30 minutes to get to the place and when we get there it's around 7:30. We get out the car and Annabeth pulls me to the hot chocolate stand. We wait in line until it's our turn, listening to the Christmas tunes that are playing on the speakers.
"Two hot chocolates please." Annabeth tells the guy.
The guy hands us our hot chocolates and I pull out a five.
"Keep the change." I tell him.
"Thanks. Have a nice night." He says, smiling.
"You too." Annabeth tells him. She hooks her arm through mine and we walk down the rows of trees.
"What about this one?" I ask her.
"It's too small."
We walk on, still looking.
"This one's cute." She says. I look at it. It is, but it must pass the smell test. I smell the tree.
"It doesn't smell piney enough."
"Piney?" Annabeth asks, laughing. By this time we've finished our drinks.
"Well, of course. You have to have a good smelling tree."
"Okay. I'm trusting you. You're the tree expert."
"Why indeed I am." I tell her, grinning. She smiles and we keep walking.
Annabeth suddenly pulls away from me and runs through the trees, laughing. I chase after her, parts of trees getting stuck to me. I finally catch up to her and grab her waist, pulling her towards me and getting a face full of blond hair. She giggles, a huge smile on her face. I laugh as well and smother her in kisses. When we get ourselves under control, we look at the tree in front of us.
It's perfect. It's shaped perfectly. It's not too small or tall. There's no missing chunks from it and I can smell then pine from where me and Annabeth are standing.
We look at each other and say in sync, "It's perfect."
We laugh and I walk over to grab a ax.
"Stand back, darling. It's about to get messy." I tell Annabeth. She steps back and I start cutting the tree down.
After the tree is cut down, I wrap it in twine and carry it to the car. Annabeth takes my wallet to go pay for the tree. I struggle securing the tree on the top of the car.
"You got it?" Annabeth asks.
"Yeah. I'm good," I tell her, grunting. She smiles doubtfully at me. "I got. Jeez."
"Okay. Whatever you say." She hops in the car.
A few struggling minutes later, I think the tree is secured. But if it falls off, it's not my problem. I hop in the car and warm my hands up. Once they're warm enough, I pull out of the parking lot.
At a stoplight, I tell Annabeth, "I'm hungry."
"We ate at home!" She cries, throwing her hands up in the air.
"Yeah, but I'm hungry again."
"Oh my gosh. You are too much."
"But you still love me." I tease her. She leans over.
"Yes, I do." She kisses me and it's not short sweet pecks. This one is longer and full of love. "Now find a spot to get food."
"Wendy's chili, here I come!" I shout. Annabeth smiles and shakes her head.
