Christmas Countdown: Today is December 20 which means only 5 more days until Christmas!

It's snowing at Camp Half-Blood, and Silena dragged me outside to enjoy the snow.

"I love winter." Silena breathes in the chilling air, smiling. "I could stay out here all day." She closes her eyes, still smiling, and tips her face up to the sky, letting the snow fall on her face.

I look around the deserted camp. Everyone else is inside. "Yeah, it is pretty."

She looks back at me, snowflakes clinging to her hair. She looks so beautiful out here. Sure, she's always beautiful, but with the snow falling, and her dazzling smile, she's even more beautiful than normal.

I stand there, watching her twirl and dance and smile. It's cold, but I can barely feel it. The sight of her being so happy is literally warming me up.

She lets out a joyous laugh, sticking out her tongue. She stands there, trying to catch a snowflake. She shouts with success when she does, running over to me.

"C'mon, Charlie! Catch snowflakes with me!" She clings to my arm, then runs back out into the snow. I smile, amused.

"Okay," I say, walking over to her. I watch her stick out her tongue, then I do too. A little prick of cold settles on my tongue. "Oh! I got one!" I say, closing my mouth.

Silena giggles, scooping up the powdery snow. She turns to face me, then throws the snow up in the air. It disperses, falling down lightly on the both of us. I laugh, brushing the snow off of me. I come up close to her, brushing the snow off her.

We stand there together, just smiling. Silena bounces on her toes a few times, then leans up to give me a kiss before running off again. I smile to myself, amused by her childlike behavior.

She starts to run towards the lake, and I follow, making a path in the snow. I find her testing the frozen lake with her foot.

"Silena," I warn, not sure if it'll hold her weight. "Silena, be careful." I start to walk quicker as she puts her full weight in the ice.

"I'm okay, Charlie!" She calls back, taking another tentative step.

I reach the edge of the lake, and grab her hand. "You will not be falling in on me." I tell her firmly.

She glances back, her cheeks and nose rosy. "I'll be okay." She let's go of my hand, and takes a few more steps. I don't hear any cracking, which surprisingly worries me more than if I did hear cracking.

"Silena, please, it's not smart-" I start to say, when the ice below her breaks and she falls in, fully submerging. "Silena!" I scramble to get closer to her, but not daring to step on the ice.

She comes back up, but her lips are already blue. She's shivering, but treading water.

"Okay, kick with your legs, using your arms to pull yourself out." I instruct her. She doesn't say anything, but slowly does. "Good job, keep going." I urge her as she gets her torso up on the ice. I reach out, grabbing her hands. "Kick!" I pull as she kicks. It's tough, scary work, but soon she's on land again.

"Oh my gods, Silena I told you!" I pull off her freezing coat and give her mine. "Silena, say something."

She opens her mouth, but all I hear is her teeth chattering. I sigh, and pick her up bridal style.

"I'm taking you to the infirmary. You're going to be okay." I tell her. She just nods and leans towards me more.

I barge into the infirmary. "She needs a healer! She fell into the lake." I shout at the demigod on duty. She rushes over and helps me bring Silena to a cot.

She shoves me out of the room, so I pace in the entry way. I'm beating myself up. I should've kept her off the ice, but her happy vibe and smile made it so hard. I pace back and forth, shivering slightly without my coat.

The demigod comes back, carrying Silena's wet clothes. "She's in dry, warm clothes now. She'll have to stay here for a while. But you're free to go in."

"Thank you." I nod, then head to Silena's cot. I push aside the curtain. Silena is lying under loads of blankets, so just her head is poking out. She's staring at the ceiling, shivering slightly.

"Charlie?" She whispers, turning her head to look at me.

"Thank the gods." I rush over to her, sitting by her side. "Are you warm enough?" I lift the blankets just enough for me to hold her hand. It's cold as ice. A small smile slowly spreads onto her face. "I'm so glad you're okay."

"Thank you for saving me." She says softly, barely audible. She squeezes my hand.

I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. I cup her cheek and she leans into the touch. "You were so beautiful out there in the snow." I say, keeping my voice quiet.

Silena smiles. "I love you, Charlie."

"I love you too, Princess." I lean in to kiss her. Her lips are cold. "Get some rest." I squeeze her hand, then tuck her back into the blankets.

"Bye," she says as I leave.

I wave, then close the curtain. The demigod hands me my coat back. I thank her and put it on. I take one last look at the infirmary and walk back out into the snow.
