So here we are, Darling in the FranXX: Insurgent finally published, this was inspired by one of CulpableGIint's Stories and I hope this story has the same effect that their story had to me.

This is my first story on ff. so suggestions and corrections are accepted.

I'd also like to thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy.

August 12th/ 2070

The Chairman seemed to be musing from his seat, most likely thinking about Dr FranXX's Test Team. "Chairman, Squad 26's Plantation was run down by the Klaxosaurs, their heading for a beeline to Plantation 13, that is- ever since the Nest was discovered, the Klaxosaur numbers have been increasing lately." Said Lemur. The Chairman looked at him, "Then we will see how well they will protect their Plantation."

Orangutan didn't look pleased. "Dr. FranXX wouldn't approve, we cannot use them so recklessly." The Chairman held his hands together.

"We will see." Orangutan wasn't pleased at the least, but the other Council Members seemed to agree with Papa. Why keep them if they cannot protect their Plantation?

Orangutan sighed. "I see, if that is what you choose, so be it." The Chairman seemed pleased as he looked up and nodded.

"We will see." He repeated.

August 13th/ 2070

The Plantation seemed to be crawling with Klaxosaurs, ever since the Nest was discovered, they seemed to be swarming everywhere.

"We can't get rid of these things, they just keep coming!" Shouted Argentea, pulling another claw out of the dead Klaxosaur and revealing the shiny core of the monster.

"We have to try! We have to protect the Planta..." Delphinium's voice faded, Squad 13 knew there was no hope in saving the Plantation, and everybody had lost hope in Papa, even Zorome- who had been the most loyal, seemed off ever since he got lost into the city.

Genista spoke up. "Come on, we just have to... Keep going... Because... We're here to fight... For Papa..."

Before she could finish her sentence, a loud thump could be heard from behind them. Chlorophytum turned around in, her normally calm feature settled with a looked of dread. The rest of the squad followed suit, their faces forming into a look of horror.

It was a Glutenburg.

"Is that..." Miku didn't finish her sentence before her FranXX was pulled down and clawed at by several Conrad Classes, Argentea's faceplate flickering and finally dying out as the Klaxosaurs continued to try to get inside the cockpit. Genista and Delphinium rushed to her side and started clawing off the Klaxosaurs while shouting their names, trying to get a response.

"Finally! A challenge for us, is that right Darling?" Sterlizia said while rushing to the Glutenburg.

"Sterlizia- Stop!" Shouted Delphinium, gaining no response. Sterlizia sped towards the Glutenberg class, running her Spear across the Klaxosaurs skin.

The Glutenberg reared back and attempted to throw the FranXX off, when that failed, the Klaxosaur rammed itself into the ground, pinning Sterlizia and immobilizing it.

Chlorophytum pulled off the last Klaxosaur from Argentea, the FranXX was unresponsive.

"Two of our FranXX Are Down!" Shouted Delphinium

"It's like their running on a strategy... Taking us one by one." Chlorophytum barely said the last word when a bunch of Conrads jumped onto the FranXX, the robot let out a shriek as it was tackled to the ground.

Delphinium moved forward to help the FranXX but was stopped by Genista.

"We have to protect the Plantation First, Your... Our Leader!"

Delphinium took one more look at Chlorophytum, but her eyes seemed to say 'Go now, we'll be fine.'

And they went.

Delphinium looked over at Genista, the FranXX was looking straight forward. Ichigo felt a small guilt eating at her as they sped down the barren land, ignoring the Klaxosaurs that seemed to claw at their FranXX every passing minute. Ever since Kokoro and Mitsuru lost their memories, they always seemed infinitely loyal to Papa, even more loyal than Team Argentea.

The Glutenburg was only a few miles away, and they needed a plan. Quick. Delphinium looked at the other FranXX and an idea sparked into her mind. A stupid idea that just might work.

"Genista! Under the Glutenburg, do you see that weak spot?" Genista nodded,it was near it's leg- at the bottom of it's foot.

Delphinium felt a surge of confidence, "Me and Goro are going to go under it, with your strength- you can hold the foot up, we'll go inside the Klaxosaur and find it's core from there," Genista looked a little nervous with the plan but nodded, the same look of confidence appearing on her face.

As the Glutenburg got closer and closer, so did the smaller Klaxosaurs who seemed to be blocking their path. They didn't pay those any mind, they had to take out the bigger threat first- reaching it's foot, Genista plunged weapon, Rook Sparrow- up the foot, giving Delphinium an opening. Nodding to Genista, they went up.

Ichigo felt nauseous the moment they got in, the sticky blue goo rubbing off onto their FranXX from ever moment they made, but they couldn't focus on that now. They had to get to the core. As they went upwards, Goro spotted a yellow orb, as they went towards it, the Klaxosaur lurched forward. Falling forward, Delphinium continued it's approach to the core of the Klaxosaur.

Plunging her claws into the core, the Klaxosaur erupted and the FranXX stood up, rubbing the blue blood off the weapons. Delphinium looked at Genista and gave a grin, and was surprised when Genista didn't have a look of happiness on her face, instead a look of horror. Delphinium turned to see what Genista was looking at, Oh no.

The Plantation was already destroyed.

The squad flew through the Klaxosaurs, their weapons cracking under the pressure of using the magma energy over their limit.

"We can't just get rid of these things!" Argentea shouted, pulling another claw out of the death Klaxosaur. She heard Delphinium shouting over the Comns. No luck, our Comns are broken. Miku thought grimly.

Plunging another one of her claws into the Klaxosaur, Miku saw Genista turning around, the FranXX's face set into a look of dread. Argentea turned around, nearly falling down.

A Glutenburg.

"Is that-" Miku was cut off by an onslaught of attacks, Miku felt a push from behind her and fell off the system. Turning she saw her partner, he seemed to be shouting at her, Miku's head span. None of his words seemed to reach her ears. "It.. It... was going to-"

Zorome seemed to be fed up with it, shaking her shoulders, Miku finally felt pain slither up her arms, she looked down to see bruises seemed to be lined up along her arms.

"Hey Miku! Miku? Come on just say something!"

Miku stood up, "We have to get back up! Zorome?" He shook his head, "It's too late Miku... It's too late." The girl stood up, confused. "What do you mean by 'Too Late?'". Her Partner looked at her, and a feeling of dread washed over her, "The Plantation's gone, we've lost.".

Delphinium gaped at the scene, the Plantation seemed to be crushed, Klaxosaurs were rushing inside. Turning around, Delphinium saw Argentea and Chlorophytum hoisting Sterlizia, whos legs seemed to be crushed by the Klaxosaur. The FranXX knew they were supposed to feel relief, that their friends were alive. But all they felt was dread, their Plantation was gone. Papa would surely find no more use of them. Walking towards The other FranXX, with Genista not far behind- they helped Sterlizia go back down the Barren land.

And never coming back.

August 13th/ 2070

"Turn Back"

You wake up again, your partner- Code 4563 looks at you again.

"Bad Dreams?" You nod, until recently- you've been able to sweep out the remaining Klaxosaurs that your Squad hadn't managed to, and have normal sleep. But for the past week you've been having dreams, about a Blue Girl who seemed to be riding a Klaxosaur. Two words would repeat in your head, over and over again.

You looked at your partner. "It's not much, I can handle them... It's just that..." You turn around and see that's she's already asleep. You grin, So much for explaining.

You drift off, the dreams not troubling you for the rest of the morning.

Not soon after you wake up to the Alarms blaring, frantically pushing the covers off. You wake up your partner.

When you looked outside your heart nearly dropped.

The Klaxosaurs were attacking The Plantation.

"What's going on..." Your Partner looked out, her face set into the same horror that you bet was on your face.

You rush to the Boarding room, the FranXX were missing

Sterlizia, Chlorophytum, Delphinium, Argentea, Gensita. You already memorized their names, you saw your FranXX- Kunzite, lingering behind theirs, the FranXX had the design of an Ordinary Backup FranXX, with a few... Changes. "You do not have permission, Code 1000" You turned around to see Nana.

"But we can't have them die," You protested. Nana's face was deadpanned, "Papa's orders" You flinched, her words sounded like 9 Alpha's. When you were still a Backup FranXX for the Nines.

"You are The Chairman's Tool, we cannot have you recklessly driving your FranXX around with your partner."

You grabbed 4563's hand and started dashing towards the FranXX, ignoring Nana's shouts.

I can't let them die, I hardly know them, but I have to protect my Plantation,

You heard your Partner cry out and heard a thump beside you, before you could react.

You heard another thump and the world went black.

You held your head as you woke up, it felt like your head was being thrown onto a stone brick, by a hammer. Feeling the bed, you realized it wasn't the same beds as the ones in the Plantation. You almost wanted to fall at the realization.

Nearby you could see a hastily made room that was labeled 'MedBay', pulling off the covers and walking into the room you could see a couple of kids, presumably Squad 13.

On the left was a boy with unruly brown hair who seemed to be holding a broken nose, sitting next to a girl with red ponytails who was muttering to him, they were probably partners.

On the right you saw a girl wearing glasses standing near a chubby boy, and she was talking to...

Your partner, relief flooded you, she was okay! You walked towards her, almost tripping on the red haired girl and earning a glare from the boy beside her, ignoring both of them you placed your hands on her shoulders, "Hey" She frowned, I have a name you know. "Kami sounds familiar?" You frown, pretending to think about it. "Maybe I did once, but that was before they stopped us." Then another thought came you you.

"Do you know where we are?"

Kami frowned. "They said we're in a refuge area, and that... Papa will decide what to do with us."

Your expression changed pretty quickly. "Refuge? And what happened to the Plantation?" You faced the other kids. "

"We're at the refuge camp, hidden under the Plantation only for under emergency circumstances." You turn around, surprised by the voice. A blue haired girl was standing by the doorway. "I'm Ichigo, Code 015, you must be..."

"Code 1000, you can call me (Y/N)."

The red haired girl looked confused. "But we've never seen anybody with their code numbers in the thousands." You sighed, They wouldn't know would they, the Plantation probably never tells them half the stuff we know.

"Us... Code 1000's, we serve as backup FranXX. As you fail to eliminate all the Klaxosaurs in the premises, me and Kami do it ourselves. We once served with the Nines, and I hope one of their members is here?"

The brown haired boy nodded to a nearby room, "You mean Zero Two? She's over there."

You turned around to leave, "Before I leave... May I know your names?"

The red girl nodded, "I'm Miku, Code 390, this is my dumbass partner Zorome, we pilot Argentea." The boy looked too tired to complain and just said. "Code 666" You wanted to laugh, 666?

As a couple others walked in, the girl with glasses and freckles looked towards you.

"I'm Code 196, Ikuno" The chubby boy stood up. "214, Futoshi."

The blue hair looked towards a tall boy with glasses and blonde hair who stood beside her. "I'm Goro, Code 056, and this is my Partner- Ichigo, Code 015."

A kind looking girl with blonde hair cascading down her shoulder muttered, "Kokoro, I..."

She looked at a boy who stood beside her. "Mitsuru, Code 326, my Partner's Code is 556."

You gave them a small grin and left the room,

Towards your old Squad Member.

August 14th

As you reached the room in less than a matter of minutes, you closed the door behind you, as you started walking to the area that they told you she was staying, knocking on the door and then opening it. Relief flooded you as you saw your old Squad member. She seemed surprised to see you, so did her partner.

"(Y/N), is that you?" She exclaimed. The black haired boy looked at her, "You know him?" She nodded excitedly. "He was our old Squad member Darling," You wanted to smile, she was still crazy about the 'Darling' thing.

"I was the Backup FranXX for the Nines.", The boy seemed to understand that you didn't want to talk anymore on the topic and attempted to start a different conversation. "I'm Code 016, you can call me-"

"Hiro" You interrupted him. The boy looked surprised, "You know my name?" You nodded. "You were popular among us, we even start giving each others names, my Partner's name is Kami, and you can call me (Y/N)." Hiro gave you a small smile and nodded. "We should get with the others shouldn't we Zero Two?" Zero Two gave him a quick nod, a smile still visible on her face. She's changed a lot from last time. You thought.

The three of you walked out of the room together, reunited.

You sat down at the table, to your right was Miku and Zorome and to your left was Kami, Ichigo, and Goro. In front of you were Ikuno, Futoshi, Kokoro and Mitsuru. You bit down on a cracker. "What do you think they'll do to us.. You know, after we couldn't even protect our own Plantation" Kokoro said quietly. "Eh, I think that they'll..." Zorome started but stopped and looked down, a dim look in his eyes. You felt bad for them, they all.. Well except Zero Two and Hiro had high hopes in the adults, seemingly Zorome and Miku the most.

"We have to figure out what to do, we can't follow the Adults paths forever can't we?" Kami said from beside you, "That's right" You were surprised to hear that from the Squad leader, Ichigo.

"But we can't afford to take that risk now, it's too early (Y/N) and Kami." She finished. You hated to admit it but you agreed with her point, sighing- you don't talk anymore on that topic.

But right as you were about to say something else, you heard a crash to your right, and you wanted to groan. Hesitantly looking to your right, you could see Team Argentea arguing with a broken plate sitting on the floor, it's shards scattered around their feet.

"I was just trying to-" Zorome started, "I know just what you were trying to do!" She grabbed his ear and practically shouted in his ear, dragging him away why he tried desperately to escape, you heard your Partner sigh and bend down.

Looking down, you saw her grabbing the shards off the floor, you gave her a small smile and sat down and started helping her.

"Those two don't know when to stop do they?" You chuckled, you only knew Squad 13 for one day, though you had secretly been working for them for a few months and knew all they're antics, but you still felt as if you were family, picking up the last shard and disposing them, you stood up, your friends have already finished and were off. Probably doing their own things.

You caught a glimpse of Nana walking towards the Control Room, excusing yourself, you followed her towards the room, confused on what she was doing here.

Entering the room, you could see Nana seemingly talking to the orange glow, looking closer- you realized that she was talking to Dr. FranXX, the creator of the FranXX. You felt confused, Why would she be talking to the Creator of the FranXX?

You shook it away and focused your gaze back onto their conversation.

"You know what their going to do Nana, this is our chance." You could hear the crackling voice of Dr FranXX say. "But, we have made our Oath-"

"Those Geezer's Oaths have nothing to do with what we're talking about, and it seems as if your little friend is eavesdropping." He winked.

You almost fell back- How did he know? You hesitantly walked towards them, Nana gave you a glance but seemed to pay no attention to you afterwards.

You could almost feel the Doctor's eyes pierce into you, even though he wasn't next to you, you looked down took a breath. Something was off, and you needed to know what it was. Looking back at the Doctor, you felt confidence that you'd know the truth about The Adults, The Plantation. And what they were planning to do.

"Tell me everything."

"We will see." Said The Chairman, Orangutan sighed, if what they were saying was right. The best thing would be to dispose of them, even if it was the Doctor's special Test Squad. He also knew that the Chairman did have a personal dislike for the Doctor, even if it was small.

Lemur fiddled his fingers on the seat, "So you are saying, our Squads will follow the normal protocol due to... Inconveniences in the Doctor's?" The Chairman nodded. "It is for the best we do that, we can't afford to lose more of the subjects."

The Chairman then looked at Orangutan, "It seems you disagree with my point, is there a particular reason why?" Orangutan sighed.

"Think about it, this Squad is quite more helpful, The FranXX are still operable. We could just move them to a new Plantation, as you said. We cannot lose anymore of our subjects." He replied. He was pleased when the Chairman seemed to be pondering about it,

"We will see."

Ichigo laid her head on the pillow, she felt a headache storming in there and sighed. Looking towards her partner, who was already fast asleep, Ichigo stood up and exited the room, closing the door softly, none of them had seen the light since the Plantation had been destroyed.

Destroyed, unwelcome memories came back to her, shaking the thoughts, the Leader of Squad 13 trudged back into her room, not bothering to close the door.

Falling face-first into the bed, trying to count sheep and fall asleep, when that didn't work, the girl gave up on trying. Ichigo turned around to look up at the roof, "You know... I think Papa truly left us, maybe he did." She muttered under her breath. "We can't lose hope now Ichigo can we?" The girl turned around to see her partner sitting up, "Your awake?" He shrugged. "I just couldn't sleep either." She turned to face her Partner, "But do you really think that?"

"Maybe, but like Hiro said. We've done so much on our own haven't we?" Ichigo nodded slightly, unconvinced. "If you say so.." Ichigo had already gotten over Hiro, it still stung sometimes, but seeing Hiro and Zero Two happy was fine with her. Now that Goro had confessed to her too, Ichigo's head had been a mess for the last month, as if it were trying to sort out each and every thing that happened to them, Even when Ikuno told her about her feelings made the girl just more and more confused.

But Ichigo wasn't going to stop being the Leader she was meant to be, and with those thoughts she drifted off into sleep.

Ikuno flopped her book, turning the page. The girl always had an interest for books, being the 'quiet, shy girl' she was. Flipping the page, the girl looked up and saw her partner. He seemed to be stuffing bread into his mouth. Again.

"What're you doing here?" The boy looked at her, "I'm trying to find... uh, Oh yeah! Cooking recipes, for... You know, if we get uh..." Ikuno smiled, "Never knew you liked cooking,"

"For uh... Kokoro-san..." It was a murmur but Ikuno could still hear him, "What?"

He looked at her, his whole face red, "It's nothing, I'll just- leave." Ikuno sighed and glanced back into her book, not giving much thought into what he said. Closing the book and looking at the cover, Ikuno smiled to herself and walked to her room, This is probably the last book I'll read isn't it. She thought gloomily as she opened the door.

Sighing she was about to go back to the page she bookmarked, but the book would have to wait.

In the Library,

Touching the tip of the artificial flower, Kokoro missed Mistilteinn. The girl almost jumped when she heard small footsteps and a little thud, turning around she saw 326, her partner. He seemed to be holding a book, "You should be watching where you're going... Ko-" He grunted and fell to the ground, holding his head. Kokoro rushed over to him

"Mitsuru- Mitsuru-" She held her head, pain flooding through it, "What's going on?" He grunted. "Whenever I saw your name it-"

'Feels like something's in my head." He finished.

There was a few moments of silence before Kokoro heard her partner standing up, looking up she saw him offering his hand to her. Hesitating for a moment they grabbed hands and half-walked out of the library.

"You... You know 556, you don't need to.." Mitsuru started, then stopped, looking at Kokoro as if she was going to disagree. "Never mind." Looking down, they were still holding hands, Kokoro didn't bother letting go, she felt his warm hands like it was guarding her somehow, shielding her, he could only feel the same.

Together they walked around, holding hands and occasionally looking at each other.

"Ow! Let me go you damn-" Zorome heard a loud noise, then felt an increasing pain in his cheek, stumbling back and almost falling to the ground, he looked up to see Miku, probably angrier than ever.

"What did you think you're doing?"

"I promise I was just-" Miku stomped her foot on the floor, "You know, I've had enough of this, and enough of you! Don't come near me again you pervert!"

Her partner scoffed. "That won't be a problem at all!" It wasn't his fault for trying to get salt and accidently falling onto Miku, watching as she walked off, he grumbled something under his breath and held his cheek.

When she was out of his sight he walked back to his dorm, falling onto the bed, maybe it was his fault for doing what he did. But he couldn't just go an apologize to Miku, what if she slapped him again? He just didn't want of it much.

Miku stormed off, she had enough of her partner, she didn't care about what happened during the Attacks. That didn't change how he acted toward her, he was the same, little, Pervert.

Zorome wasn't as cool as Mitsuru, or as strong as Goro, kind as Futoshi, or understanding as Hiro, he was just useless, and that was the extent of it.

Orangutan wanted to ask The Chairman meant as 'We will see', there wasn't enough time to plan. "Chairman... I have a question for you."

"Hm?"

"Is this for your dislike of the Doctor?"

The Chairman seemed surprised, his mask tilting up a little. "My opinions are not valid in here, as said in our Oath." Lemur nodded, seemingly agreeing to his point, so did the other members of The Council. The one man knew he couldn't defend his point alone, especially since he agreed to The Chairman just moments back.

The member rested his hands on the handles, tapping his fingers.

"Then it's settled."

Delphinium looked at Genista and gave a grin, and was surprised when Genista didn't have a look of happiness on her face, instead a look of horror. Delphinium turned to see what Genista was looking at, Oh no.

The Plantation was already destroyed.

The squad flew through the Klaxosaurs, their weapons cracking under the pressure of using the magma energy over their limit.

"We can't just get rid of these things!" Argentea shouted, pulling another claw out of the death Klaxosaur. She heard Delphinium shouting over the Comns. No luck, our Comns are broken. Miku thought grimly.

Plunging another one of her claws into the Klaxosaur, Miku saw Genista turning around, the FranXX's face set into a look of dread. Argentea turned around, nearly falling down.

A Glutenburg.

"Is that-" Miku was cut off by an onslaught of attacks, Miku felt a push from behind her and fell off the system. Turning she saw her partner, he seemed to be shouting at her, Miku's head span. None of his words seemed to reach her ears. "It.. It... was going to-"

Zorome seemed to be fed up with it, shaking her shoulders, Miku finally felt pain slither up her arms, she looked down to see bruises seemed to be lined up along her arms.

"Hey Miku! Miku? Come on just say something!"

Miku stood up, "We have to get back up! Zorome?" He shook his head, "It's too late Miku... It's too late." The girl stood up, confused. "What do you mean by 'Too Late?'". Her Partner looked at her, and a feeling of dread washed over her, "The Plantation's gone, we've lost.".

Delphinium gaped at the scene, the Plantation seemed to be crushed, Klaxosaurs were rushing inside. Turning around, Delphinium saw Argentea and Chlorophytum hoisting Sterlizia, whos legs seemed to be crushed by the Klaxosaur. The FranXX knew they were supposed to feel relief, that their friends were alive. But all they felt was dread, their Plantation was gone. Papa would surely find no more use of them. Walking towards The other FranXX, with Genista not far behind- they helped Sterlizia go back down the Barren land.

And never coming back.

August 13th/ 2070

"Turn Back"

You wake up again, your partner- Code 4563 looks at you again.

"Bad Dreams?" You nod, until recently- you've been able to sweep out the remaining Klaxosaurs that your Squad hadn't managed to, and have normal sleep. But for the past week you've been having dreams, about a Blue Girl who seemed to be riding a Klaxosaur. Two words would repeat in your head, over and over again.

You looked at your partner. "It's not much, I can handle them... It's just that..." You turn around and see that's she's already asleep. You grin, So much for explaining.

You drift off, the dreams not troubling you for the rest of the morning.

Not soon after you wake up to the Alarms blaring, frantically pushing the covers off. You wake up your partner.

When you looked outside your heart nearly dropped.

The Klaxosaurs were attacking The Plantation.

"What's going on..." Your Partner looked out, her face set into the same horror that you bet was on your face.

You rush to the Boarding room, the FranXX were missing

Sterlizia, Chlorophytum, Delphinium, Argentea, Gensita. You already memorized their names, you saw your FranXX- Kunzite, lingering behind theirs, the FranXX had the design of an Ordinary Backup FranXX, with a few... Changes. "You do not have permission, Code 1000" You turned around to see Nana.

"But we can't have them die," You protested. Nana's face was deadpanned, "Papa's orders" You flinched, her words sounded like 9 Alpha's. When you were still a Backup FranXX for the Nines.

"You are The Chairman's Tool, we cannot have you recklessly driving your FranXX around with your partner."

You grabbed 4563's hand and started dashing towards the FranXX, ignoring Nana's shouts.

I can't let them die, I hardly know them, but I have to protect my Plantation,

You heard your Partner cry out and heard a thump beside you, before you could react.

You heard another thump and the world went black.

You held your head as you woke up, it felt like your head was being thrown onto a stone brick, by a hammer. Feeling the bed, you realized it wasn't the same beds as the ones in the Plantation. You almost wanted to fall at the realization.

Nearby you could see a hastily made room that was labeled 'MedBay', pulling off the covers and walking into the room you could see a couple of kids, presumably Squad 13.

On the left was a boy with unruly brown hair who seemed to be holding a broken nose, sitting next to a girl with red ponytails who was muttering to him, they were probably partners.

On the right you saw a girl wearing glasses standing near a chubby boy, and she was talking to...

Your partner, relief flooded you, she was okay! You walked towards her, almost tripping on the red haired girl and earning a glare from the boy beside her, ignoring both of them you placed your hands on her shoulders, "Hey" She frowned, I have a name you know. "Kami sounds familiar?" You frown, pretending to think about it. "Maybe I did once, but that was before they stopped us." Then another thought came you you.

"Do you know where we are?"

Kami frowned. "They said we're in a refuge area, and that... Papa will decide what to do with us."

Your expression changed pretty quickly. "Refuge? And what happened to the Plantation?" You faced the other kids. "

"We're at the refuge camp, hidden under the Plantation only for under emergency circumstances." You turn around, surprised by the voice. A blue haired girl was standing by the doorway. "I'm Ichigo, Code 015, you must be..."

"Code 1000, you can call me (Y/N)."

The red haired girl looked confused. "But we've never seen anybody with their code numbers in the thousands." You sighed, They wouldn't know would they, the Plantation probably never tells them half the stuff we know.

"Us... Code 1000's, we serve as backup FranXX. As you fail to eliminate all the Klaxosaurs in the premises, me and Kami do it ourselves. We once served with the Nines, and I hope one of their members is here?"

The brown haired boy nodded to a nearby room, "You mean Zero Two? She's over there."

You turned around to leave, "Before I leave... May I know your names?"

The red girl nodded, "I'm Miku, Code 390, this is my dumbass partner Zorome, we pilot Argentea." The boy looked too tired to complain and just said. "Code 666" You wanted to laugh, 666?

As a couple others walked in, the girl with glasses and freckles looked towards you.

"I'm Code 196, Ikuno" The chubby boy stood up. "214, Futoshi."

The blue hair looked towards a tall boy with glasses and blonde hair who stood beside her. "I'm Goro, Code 056, and this is my Partner- Ichigo, Code 015."

A kind looking girl with blonde hair cascading down her shoulder muttered, "Kokoro, I..."

She looked at a boy who stood beside her. "Mitsuru, Code 326, my Partner's Code is 556."

You gave them a small grin and left the room,

Towards your old Squad Member.

August 14th

As you reached the room in less than a matter of minutes, you closed the door behind you, as you started walking to the area that they told you she was staying, knocking on the door and then opening it. Relief flooded you as you saw your old Squad member. She seemed surprised to see you, so did her partner.

"(Y/N), is that you?" She exclaimed. The black haired boy looked at her, "You know him?" She nodded excitedly. "He was our old Squad member Darling," You wanted to smile, she was still crazy about the 'Darling' thing.

"I was the Backup FranXX for the Nines.", The boy seemed to understand that you didn't want to talk anymore on the topic and attempted to start a different conversation. "I'm Code 016, you can call me-"

"Hiro" You interrupted him. The boy looked surprised, "You know my name?" You nodded. "You were popular among us, we even start giving each others names, my Partner's name is Kami, and you can call me (Y/N)." Hiro gave you a small smile and nodded. "We should get with the others shouldn't we Zero Two?" Zero Two gave him a quick nod, a smile still visible on her face. She's changed a lot from last time. You thought.

The three of you walked out of the room together, reunited.

You sat down at the table, to your right was Miku and Zorome and to your left was Kami, Ichigo, and Goro. In front of you were Ikuno, Futoshi, Kokoro and Mitsuru. You bit down on a cracker. "What do you think they'll do to us.. You know, after we couldn't even protect our own Plantation" Kokoro said quietly. "Eh, I think that they'll..." Zorome started but stopped and looked down, a dim look in his eyes. You felt bad for them, they all.. Well except Zero Two and Hiro had high hopes in the adults, seemingly Zorome and Miku the most.

"We have to figure out what to do, we can't follow the Adults paths forever can't we?" Kami said from beside you, "That's right" You were surprised to hear that from the Squad leader, Ichigo.

"But we can't afford to take that risk now, it's too early (Y/N) and Kami." She finished. You hated to admit it but you agreed with her point, sighing- you don't talk anymore on that topic.

But right as you were about to say something else, you heard a crash to your right, and you wanted to groan. Hesitantly looking to your right, you could see Team Argentea arguing with a broken plate sitting on the floor, it's shards scattered around their feet.

"I was just trying to-" Zorome started, "I know just what you were trying to do!" She grabbed his ear and practically shouted in his ear, dragging him away why he tried desperately to escape, you heard your Partner sigh and bend down.

Looking down, you saw her grabbing the shards off the floor, you gave her a small smile and sat down and started helping her.

"Those two don't know when to stop do they?" You chuckled, you only knew Squad 13 for one day, though you had secretly been working for them for a few months and knew all they're antics, but you still felt as if you were family, picking up the last shard and disposing them, you stood up, your friends have already finished and were off. Probably doing their own things.

You caught a glimpse of Nana walking towards the Control Room, excusing yourself, you followed her towards the room, confused on what she was doing here.

Entering the room, you could see Nana seemingly talking to the orange glow, looking closer- you realized that she was talking to Dr. FranXX, the creator of the FranXX. You felt confused, Why would she be talking to the Creator of the FranXX?

You shook it away and focused your gaze back onto their conversation.

"You know what their going to do Nana, this is our chance." You could hear the crackling voice of Dr FranXX say. "But, we have made our Oath-"

"Those Geezer's Oaths have nothing to do with what we're talking about, and it seems as if your little friend is eavesdropping." He winked.

You almost fell back- How did he know? You hesitantly walked towards them, Nana gave you a glance but seemed to pay no attention to you afterwards.

You could almost feel the Doctor's eyes pierce into you, even though he wasn't next to you, you looked down took a breath. Something was off, and you needed to know what it was. Looking back at the Doctor, you felt confidence that you'd know the truth about The Adults, The Plantation. And what they were planning to do.

"Tell me everything."

"We will see." Said The Chairman, Orangutan sighed, if what they were saying was right. The best thing would be to dispose of them, even if it was the Doctor's special Test Squad. He also knew that the Chairman did have a personal dislike for the Doctor, even if it was small.

Lemur fiddled his fingers on the seat, "So you are saying, our Squads will follow the normal protocol due to... Inconveniences in the Doctor's?" The Chairman nodded. "It is for the best we do that, we can't afford to lose more of the subjects."

The Chairman then looked at Orangutan, "It seems you disagree with my point, is there a particular reason why?" Orangutan sighed.

"Think about it, this Squad is quite more helpful, The FranXX are still operable. We could just move them to a new Plantation, as you said. We cannot lose anymore of our subjects." He replied. He was pleased when the Chairman seemed to be pondering about it,

"We will see."

Ichigo laid her head on the pillow, she felt a headache storming in there and sighed. Looking towards her partner, who was already fast asleep, Ichigo stood up and exited the room, closing the door softly, none of them had seen the light since the Plantation had been destroyed.

Destroyed, unwelcome memories came back to her, shaking the thoughts, the Leader of Squad 13 trudged back into her room, not bothering to close the door.

Falling face-first into the bed, trying to count sheep and fall asleep, when that didn't work, the girl gave up on trying. Ichigo turned around to look up at the roof, "You know... I think Papa truly left us, maybe he did." She muttered under her breath. "We can't lose hope now Ichigo can we?" The girl turned around to see her partner sitting up, "Your awake?" He shrugged. "I just couldn't sleep either." She turned to face her Partner, "But do you really think that?"

"Maybe, but like Hiro said. We've done so much on our own haven't we?" Ichigo nodded slightly, unconvinced. "If you say so.." Ichigo had already gotten over Hiro, it still stung sometimes, but seeing Hiro and Zero Two happy was fine with her. Now that Goro had confessed to her too, Ichigo's head had been a mess for the last month, as if it were trying to sort out each and every thing that happened to them, Even when Ikuno told her about her feelings made the girl just more and more confused.

But Ichigo wasn't going to stop being the Leader she was meant to be, and with those thoughts she drifted off into sleep.

Ikuno flopped her book, turning the page. The girl always had an interest for books, being the 'quiet, shy girl' she was. Flipping the page, the girl looked up and saw her partner. He seemed to be stuffing bread into his mouth. Again.

"What're you doing here?" The boy looked at her, "I'm trying to find... uh, Oh yeah! Cooking recipes, for... You know, if we get uh..." Ikuno smiled, "Never knew you liked cooking,"

"For uh... Kokoro-san..." It was a murmur but Ikuno could still hear him, "What?"

He looked at her, his whole face red, "It's nothing, I'll just- leave." Ikuno sighed and glanced back into her book, not giving much thought into what he said. Closing the book and looking at the cover, Ikuno smiled to herself and walked to her room, This is probably the last book I'll read isn't it. She thought gloomily as she opened the door.

Sighing she was about to go back to the page she bookmarked, but the book would have to wait.

In the Library,

Touching the tip of the artificial flower, Kokoro missed Mistilteinn. The girl almost jumped when she heard small footsteps and a little thud, turning around she saw 326, her partner. He seemed to be holding a book, "You should be watching where you're going... Ko-" He grunted and fell to the ground, holding his head. Kokoro rushed over to him

"Mitsuru- Mitsuru-" She held her head, pain flooding through it, "What's going on?" He grunted. "Whenever I saw your name it-"

'Feels like something's in my head." He finished.

There was a few moments of silence before Kokoro heard her partner standing up, looking up she saw him offering his hand to her. Hesitating for a moment they grabbed hands and half-walked out of the library.

"You... You know 556, you don't need to.." Mitsuru started, then stopped, looking at Kokoro as if she was going to disagree. "Never mind." Looking down, they were still holding hands, Kokoro didn't bother letting go, she felt his warm hands like it was guarding her somehow, shielding her, he could only feel the same.

Together they walked around, holding hands and occasionally looking at each other.

"Ow! Let me go you damn-" Zorome heard a loud noise, then felt an increasing pain in his cheek, stumbling back and almost falling to the ground, he looked up to see Miku, probably angrier than ever.

"What did you think you're doing?"

"I promise I was just-" Miku stomped her foot on the floor, "You know, I've had enough of this, and enough of you! Don't come near me again you pervert!"

Her partner scoffed. "That won't be a problem at all!" It wasn't his fault for trying to get salt and accidently falling onto Miku, watching as she walked off, he grumbled something under his breath and held his cheek.

When she was out of his sight he walked back to his dorm, falling onto the bed, maybe it was his fault for doing what he did. But he couldn't just go an apologize to Miku, what if she slapped him again? He just didn't want of it much.

Miku stormed off, she had enough of her partner, she didn't care about what happened during the Attacks. That didn't change how he acted toward her, he was the same, little, Pervert.

Zorome wasn't as cool as Mitsuru, or as strong as Goro, kind as Futoshi, or understanding as Hiro, he was just useless, and that was the extent of it.

Orangutan wanted to ask The Chairman meant as 'We will see', there wasn't enough time to plan. "Chairman... I have a question for you."

"Hm?"

"Is this for your dislike of the Doctor?"

The Chairman seemed surprised, his mask tilting up a little. "My opinions are not valid in here, as said in our Oath." Lemur nodded, seemingly agreeing to his point, so did the other members of The Council. The one man knew he couldn't defend his point alone, especially since he agreed to The Chairman just moments back.

The member rested his hands on the handles, tapping his fingers.

"Then it's settled."
