This is not an update. I am discontinuing this story. I am sorry this story just seemed like something I did for fun and I really don't see it going anywhere. You are free to continue this story yourself if you like. I don't think I will be writing anymore Percy Jackson fanfiction. But I might start writing fanfiction for The 100. It's a show on CW and they also have it on Netflix. 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse on Earth the remaining survivors in space send 100 juvenile delinquents to the ground to see if it is survivable again. There are 7 seasons. The first season is pretty cringy but your pretty much hooked by the end of the third episode and it does get better later on. Seasons 6 and 7 are kind of like drag ons but they are still pretty good. Also, here is what I had typed up for chapter three.
PS: I got all the dagger fighting stuff from articles off the internet so some of may not be right.
Nicole's POV
Nicole only slept five hours last night. She had spent the night, reading and listening to music on her phone and fell asleep around 1:00 a.m. She woke up the next day at 6:00 a.m.
Nicole got up and grabbed a change of clothes from her duffle bag. She walked into the bathroom and put on a dark blue shirt, a gray jacket, another pair of black leggings, and teal tennis shoes with white laces. Once she was dressed Nicole looked in the mirror. In her reflection she saw long brown hair curling around a round face with stormy gray eyes. Nicole wetted down her hair and brushed the knots out it. Once she was done, Nicole put her hair into a ponytail and pulled the hood of her jacket over her head.
The daughter of Athena walked out of the bathroom, grabbed her phone and earbuds, laid back down on her bed and started listening to her playlist.
About ten songs later some girl pulled back the curtain next to Nicole's bed. She looked Nicole's age and was wearing a navy-blue hoodie, jeans and black winter boots. Part of her black hair was put in a crown braid around her head and the rest went down to her shoulders. Her face was covered with freckles and her eyes were an emerald green.
"Hey", the girl said. "You're Hailey Walton, right?"
The daughter of Athena rolled her eyes. "I prefer Nicole and who are you?"
"Sabrina Silvers, daughter of Hecate. You can call me Brine. I'm here to take you on your tour of camp."
"What happened to Nico and Will?"
"Some Hermes kid fell off the climbing wall and he got burned by some of the lava."
Nicole raised an eyebrow. "Lava? On a climbing wall?"
"Yeah. Anyway, Will and Nico are handling it right now. So, I offered to take you on the tour. But first we're going to stop by your cabin and drop off your stuff."
Nicole put her phone and earbuds in her backpack and put the straps around her shoulders and Brine took her duffle bag.
The two demigods walked out of the infirmary and through the living room of what Brine called the 'Big House'. Then they went outside to the rest of the camp and made their way towards the Athena cabin.
The building was completely gray with an owl carving on the door and a metal number six above the entryway. Next to the cabin was a big metal shed.
Nicole opened the door and she and Brine stepped inside.
The whole cabin looked like something out of a Harry Potter book.
Inside there was a library and a workshop. The library's bookshelves were filled with thousands of books and old scrolls. Plus, some tables and chairs for people to study and read. The workshop was also filled with tables and some work benches and cupboards probably stuffed with building materials. There were also several 3-D models of buildings, blueprints, old war maps, and armor. Nicole could also see some SMART boards and that all the bunk beds were shoved up against the wall.
The daughter of Hecate led Nicole to an empty bed, and they set her stuff down on the bottom bunk.
Nicole and Brine walked out of the Athena cabin and went to the shed next to the building. Brine unlocked and opened the door to the drop and the two demigods stepped inside.
Nicole had already seen some insane things that day, but her jaw still dropped at the sight. The walls were lined with a ton of different weapons; swords, spears, clubs-you name it.
"This is where we all get our weapons", Brine said. "I mean, the Hephaestus cabin makes their own and the Apollo kids usually get a bow and arrow but the rest of us come here. So, what kind of blade are you looking for?"
Nicole took her swiss army knife out of her shoe and gave it to Brine. "Something like that."
Brine examined the knife for a minute. Then she grabbed a dagger and handed it to Nicole.
Nicole unsheathed the weapon and studied it, a five-foot double-edged blade with a leather handle. "This seems good."
Brine smiled. "Great. I have one of my own. I could probably give you some tips."
Nicole nodded.
"So, do you want to keep your knife?"
"Yeah. Sure." Nicole took the swiss army knife and slipped it back into her shoe.
"Do you want to go to the fighting arena next?", Brine asked.
"Okay."
The two girls walked out of the shed and to the arena. As they strolled, they passed a bunch of other things that Nicole couldn't believe she was seeing. Including: a stable full of winged horses, a volleyball court with satyrs playing, a couple campers making strawberries grow by waving their hands, and an archery range where every shooter was practically making a bullseye every time.
"What do you like to do?", Brine asked.
"The basics I guess", Nicole said. "Draw, dance, read, listen to music, watch movies…"
"What movies do you like?"
"Coming of age. Dark comedies. But I hate horror."
"Me too. Weird that I have no problem fighting monsters, but I am too scared to watch someone get killed by one in a movie."
"Yeah, the only one I have seen is 'Orphan'. A murdering nine-year-old girl gets adopted. You can see how that goes."
"How scary is it?"
"It isn't that bad. It's rated 'R' but only two people get killed. Plus, one very unfortunate pigeon."
"I might watch it then."
Normally, Nicole was pretty quiet. But Brine seemed nice and it was great having someone to talk to.
The two girls had just arrived at the arena when some guy walked up to them. He was wearing a black jacket over a dark green shirt. On his shaggy, chestnut colored hair was a green beanie, and his eyes were brown too. His ears were slightly pointed, and he had a mischievous grin on his face.
"Hey Felix.", Brine said.
"Hey to you too Sabrina.", the boy said. "Who's this?"
"This is Nicole Walton, daughter of Athena", Brine explained. "I'm showing her around camp. Nicole meet Felix Parker, son of Hermes."
"At your service milady", Felix greeted.
Nicole smiled. "Nice to meet you too Felix."
"Okay Felix", Brine said. "Ready for tonight?"
The boy gave her a grin. "Yep we're all set."
"What's happening tonight?", Nicole asked slightly intrigued.
"Capture the flag", Felix clarified. "We have a game every Friday. The red team is being led by the Ares kids and they have the Apollo cabin, Dionysus cabin, Aphrodite cabin, Nike cabin, and the Hephaestus cabin. We're on the blue team. We got the Hecate cabin, Hermes cabin, Nemesis cabin, Demeter cabin, Tyche cabin and the Athena cabin leading."
"Okay", Nicole turned to Brine. "So, you're gonna teach me how to use a dagger?"
"Yeah". Brine grabbed Nicole's wrist and lead her to an open spot. "Watch and learn Felix", Brine yelled back.
"Okay", Brine said. "You probably know most of these things since you used the swiss army knife but I'm just going to give you a few tips first."
"So first, when attacking a person, its best to slice not stab. If you stab it will probably be hard to get the knife out. But when fighting a monster, its better to stab since the celestial bronze will kill them instantly and they will turn to dust. Second, keep in a ready position and always move, move constantly. Third, if you end up disarmed, don't stand directly in front of the person and try to defend yourself. Fourth, don't try to disarm someone using those fancy techniques you saw on YouTube. Fifth, if you have a knife to your throat, try to distract the person and disarm them. Sixth, when in doubt, kick them in the groin, kick them in the shins, poke them in the eyes, spit in their face, tackle them. You got all that?"
"Yeah", Nicole said.
"Okay, let's try."
Brine backed away and got her knife ready. Nicole got out her dagger too and spread her feet apart, her left foot in front of her right foot. She moved her dagger around in her right hand and focused her eyes on Brine. The daughter of Athena had only used her knife once and had never handled a dagger, but she figured she could manage.
Brine stepped forward and swung her dagger forward, but Nicole jumped back. Brine pointed the weapon at her again, but Nicole grabbed her wrist and pulled the dagger out of her hand.
Felix whistled. "Nice one Nicole!"
Brine rolled her eyes. "Let's try that again."
