Chapter 2: The Initiation Test Part 1
The next day, the group of 4 were all getting ready in the locker rooms, prepping their weapons for the test. "So, is this going to be anything like our parent's test when they were our age?" Roseline asked, wiping the blade of her scythe down. "Maybe. My moms' said that the test they had was sort of simple but also hard. They got chess pieces and brought them back. But they launched from a cliff and whoever they made eye contact with first, they were put on a team for the next 4 years. Guess we can count ourselves lucky our parents all were on the same team." Barton said, the other 3 nodding in agreement. "Well, I do hope it wasn't as messy as i believe it will be." William said, who was adjusting his shield. "I don't wanna clean my rapier or my greatsword when i'm out on the field." "Greatsword?" Yolanda asked. "Yeah. like my dad's weapon, when my shield/sheath is on my sword, which is my rapier, then when i activate the shield on my sword, it turns into a greatsword, and it lets me blast elemental sword slashes. Kinda like…...well, you know, when my sword is charged with dust power, whatever element it is when I slash at a Grimm, it send out a slash o-" Barton was pretending to snore. "Very funny, Barton." "Well, you don't have to explain everything, William. We get it, you do elemental sword slashes and your sword can transform between 2 different swords. And you use glyphs like your mom." he said, to which William used a black glyph to launch a water bottle into his hand, and he took a drink of it. "I will admit that's pretty cool." Barton said. The 4 all heard someone enter the locker room, and all looked towards the entrance, where they saw a man with blonde hair, a white sort of jacket with his chest showing, red gloves, and blue shorts and a yellow monkey tail. "Hey you guys!" said the man. "Uncle Sun? What're you doing here?" Barton said. "I'm here to ask you about your Semblances. Don't go into too much detail. Keep it brief." Sun said. The 4 nodded and stood up at attention. "Alright. Red, what's your Semblance?" "Speed! Just like my mom!" Sun nodded. "Alright, cat. Your turn." "Inner Cat. I basically turn into a super strong cat." "Cute." Sun said. "You, rich kid." "Aura Damage, and Glyphs." "nice." Sun said, walking to Yolanda. "And you?" "Electrical Palm Strikes!" Yolanda said with a smile. Sun nodded. "Alright, you little rascals, get out there." the 4 ran out as Sun chuckled. "Those kids…..they really grew up." he said, but sighs. "Man, Blake…..why'd you have to be so hard to get? Well, i guess i WAS barking up the wrong tree. Just like with her friend Ilia. wonder how sh-" "Dude, come on! We gotta get going back to work!" another man yelled from the hall. Sun sighs. "Yeah yeah, Neptune. I'm coming." he walks out, following Neptune.
Barton and his group walk out to the cliffs, where a few other students were waiting, and Oscar and Ruby were standing on the edge of the cliff. "Welcome to your first test of the year. This test will prove whether or not you are able to handle being a true Huntsman or Huntress." Oscar said. "The test this year is going to be a little different. You will have to grab a relic on the far side of the forest, but we will be looking at your combat skills, so we expect you to defend yourself and take down at least one Grimm. Doesn't matter what type." Oscar glowed and switched to Ozpin. "And I will also be judging. So please, do your best." a student next to Roseline said "This guy is super weird." he met with a large step on the foot. "Ow!" "Don't you make fun of my Uncle Ozzie, jerk face." Ozpin switched back to Oscar. "Anyway, me and Ruby will be watching you, and whoever you make eye contact with will be your partner and teammate for the next 4 years." Oscar pressed a button on a controller, and the students started being launched into the forest one by one. "Uh, sir…..is there any parachutes?" William asked. "No. you will be falling. That's why you apply the landing strategy." Yolanda launched into the forest. "Woooo hooo!" "Uh….what's a landing strategyyyyyyyyy?!" he said as he was suddenly launched away with the others. Oscar got a thermos of coffee and took a sip. "You really like doing this, don't you?" Oscar asked Ozpin. "Maybe." Ozpin said in his head. Oscar chuckled, shaking his head. "You're crazy, Oz." "A little." Ruby looked at her scroll, watching the cameras at the students pairing up. "I hope our children are together on this. I really do." Ruby said, worried. "Don't worry, Ruby. I'm sure they'll find each other." William was flipping through the air, screaming. "How….do…..i….get….dooooown?!" when he crashed through some trees, he was grabbed by the back of his shirt. "Huh?" he looked at who caught him. "Hey Willie!" Yolanda said. "Looks like I caught the-" "please don't say it, Yolanda." William said. "Aww, fine." "But….thanks for catching me." he said, blushing a little. Yolanda set him on the branch, sitting next to him. "Of course, silly. I wouldn't let you fall and die. But if I did, would i have gotten the money from your will?" "I don't have a will yet." William said. "Dang it!" William chuckled. "Well, we better go and find the relic." he said. "Yeah, you're right. Let's head west. That's where Headmaster Oscar said we should look." the two jumped down from the tree and ran off. Roseline slid down the tree with her scythe, and landed on the ground. "Alright….if i were a relic, where would I be? Huh, this ground is actually really soft and….fuzzy?" she looked down at where she was standing, realizing she was standing on an Ursa. "Ooh…...sorry." she said nervously, giggling. The Ursa roared and she jumped back as 2 more came from the bushes in front of her. She spun her scythe around, ready to attack. "Ok ok…..just be calm. You got this. You got this." she said to herself. The Ursa approached, but there was the sound of something sharp slicing through flesh, and the heads of the Ursa suddenly fall off, and the bodies dropped to the ground, Barton standing behind them with his gauntlet claws out. The Ursa bodies turned to ash, and Barton walked over to her. "For someone with high speed, you were pretty slow on those Ursa." he said, chuckling. "Oh spare me, cuz. Let's just find the relic and get out of here." they run off deeper into the woods.
William and Yolanda continued running through the woods, heading in the direction of the relics. They stopped when they heard the sound of hissing. "What's that?" Yolanda said. "King Taijitus…sounds like there's more than one around here. Keep your guard up." William said, pulling out his rapier and activating the shield mode on his sheath, putting it on his wrist. Yolanda nodded and put her back against his, pulling her twin machine pistols out of her sleeves. "Where is it coming from?" "I don't know, Yolanda. Just stay calm. We can take them. I just wish I knew where it was coming from." they heard rustling in the bushes, and both faced where the noise came from. Suddenly, a King Taijutu slithered from the bushes, going extremely fast. "High ground!" William said, and the 2 jumped out of the way as the giant snake tried taking a bite out of them. "Keep it busy!" William said, and he jumped away from Yolanda as she started firing on the giant snake. Focused on her, the snake rose up, while also flinching from the bullets, and hissed. Yolanda was getting a little nervous, but kept firing. William leaped to a branch behind the snake, and he turned a dial on his rapier, setting it to Fire Dust, the dust charging along the blade. He then used a blakc glyph to send himself flying at the snake. The snake heard him and turned its head fast at William and went for a strike, but William used another glyph to leap over the attack snake and sent a fiery slash of energy at the snake's head, knocking it to the ground. He then used another glyph to go flying at the snake's head, and stabbed his sword right into its brain. Yolanda jumped down. "Nice work, Willie." William sighed, taking the sword out, and leaping off the snake is it turned to ash. "My name is William. Please stop calling me Willie." "Aww, come on. It's a cute nickname." "I am not supposed to be cute, Yolanda. I'm supposed to be-oh no, look out!" Yolanda turned around as another King Taijitu slithered at her. "No problem!" she grabbed the snakes fangs just as it tried to strike at her, and she ripped the fangs off, throwing them into the snakes eyes. The snake fell down, but twitched, still alive. She put her palms together, like she was praying. "This one's for you, dad." she grabbed some lightning dust and crushed them in her hands, her hands being electrified. "Ha ha!" she then delivered a palm strike to the snake's giant head, the body getting fried with electricity and the head blowing up. "Blam!" William's eyes widened. "Whoa." he put his shield into sheath mode, then put his sword in the sheath, putting it back on his belt. "Nice work. That's one kill each. Now we just gotta find the relic and get out of her." Yolanda nodded, the electricity going away. "Righto!" the two continued running through the forest until they came upon what looked to be a ruined building. "Whoa….someone trashed this place." Yolanda said. "Hmm…..i remember this. My mother said this is where she and all of our parents grabbed their relics. Goodness, what a nice piece of history this is." William said, running his hand along a stone pillar. He looked up and noticed a bunch of chess pieces on the pillars. "Oh! And those must be the relics!" he said, and he climbed up, grabbing a golden pawn. "Alright, Yolanda. I got it. Let's go." Yolanda was looking up in the sky. "Uh….Yolanda? You ok?" "Look!" she said, pointing to the sky. William looked up, and saw a large bird flying over them. "Oh no…..a Nevermore." the Nevermore looked down and dive bombed towards them. The 2 got their weapons ready to fight, but suddenly, a loud gunshot was heard, piercing the Nevermore in the brain, and it turned to ash before it hit the ground. "What the what?" Yolanda said. "Hey guys!" the two looked forward and saw Roseline and Barton walking towards them, Roseline's weapon in sniper mode, the barrel smoking. "What'd we miss?"
