Chapter 11: Maiden Vs Faunus
Barton and his team were walking around Vale after another day of classes. "Man, the training for the tournament has been really tough." Barton said. "I know, right? But I feel like we're ready. And we've all decided that Barton's going to be the one to fight in the singles match if we win the first 2, right?" Roseline asked. "Of course. Even though I feel like I am the right one to do it." William said. "Oh stop complaining, William. We all picked straws and he got the longest straw, so he gets to fight in the single match if we make it there." Yolanda said. William groaned. "Yes, yes, I know, I know. You don't have to do it over and over again." the others laughed as William groaned again, but they suddenly heard the sound of running, and saw Blake and Yang both running into the middle of the market, scared. They were kind of drawing a crowd. "Mom?!" Barton said, running over to them. "Are you guys ok?" Yang looked at him. "Oh thank the brothers….baby, you're ok." "I'm fine, mom. What happened to you two?" Yang panted a little. "We got attack in Argus…..some Faunus kid with grey skin…..Raven saved us and sent us away with her portal." "What?! We have to go help her!" Barton yelled, freaking out a lot. "I know, i know, but trust me. It'll be best if we leave Raven to handle things. My mother is extremely tough. A little shrimp like that kid doesn't stand a chance." Barton still freaked out. "No you don't understand! That kid can change into a giant Beowolf, and he has these creatures on his side! Half Grimm/Half Human Hybrids! They're too dangerous for her to handle on her own!" Barton ran past them, heading towards the train station to Argus. "I'm coming, Grandma Raven!" "Barton, come back!" his team ran after him. "Should we follow too?" Yang asked. "No...let's get Oscar and Ruby, then we'll follow them." Blake said, and they ran to the school. Barton jumped on the top of the train. The train started rushing away just as his team jumped into the caboose of the train. Barton held on tight with his gauntlet's claws as the train started going faster towards Argus. "Don't worry, Grandma. I'm coming to save you." he said.
Raven crashed through some trees, landing on her back as her sword had broken. "Ugh….damn it…" she stood up, picking up the hilt of the sword, and switched the red blade out with a blue one. Peter stomped through the forest towards her, pushing trees out of the way. "I thought you Maidens were supposed to be strong." he growled. Raven pants a little, feeling a little tired. "Well, I'd rather not use it on you. But I must say….you're definitely the strongest I've ever faced. Too bad it'll all amount to nothing when I bring you down." she said, standing her ground. "Such a poor excuse to die." Peter said, and he rushed at her again, baring his fangs, and slashing at her, only for her to block the attack. They go hand in hand, swords and claws clashing and clanging, making sparks at high speeds faster than the eye can see. They continued fighting for a long time, but eventually, Raven got the upper hand, and slashed at Peter's arm, causing Peter to shriek in pain and turn back to normal, holding his bleeding arm. "Damn it….." Peter backed up against a tree, and Raven walked towards him, switching her blue blade out for a green one. Peter growled. "You…..stupid…" he sighs, and smiled evilly. "I condemn you for your power, Maiden…..you are a worthy opponent." Raven smirked. "Well, I'm flattered, but you are going down. I'm going to make sure you're never going to hurt anyone again." Peter chuckled, still holding his arm. "You can try….but he won't let you." Raven stopped walking. "Who?" Suddenly, a blue laser beam came out of the woods, firing at Raven, and she blocked it with her sword. "Who's there?" Bronson walked out of the woods with a laser cannon in both of his hands, or in this case, literally in his hands, since his hands had transformed into the barrels of laser cannons, smoking. "Leader Khan, please make your escape now. I will handle Raven Branwen." Peter chuckled. "You're in for it now, Spring Maiden." he ran off into the woods and Bronson walked over, still aiming his laser cannons at Raven. "W-What are you?" "I am Bronson, ma'am. I was built by Rydin from Menagere. I am sorry to do this to you, but I am afraid I will have to kill you if you come after my master again." Raven scoffed. "You're just like Salem's minions, calling him the master while you're the slave." Bronson kept his straight face. "You do not understand. Leader Khan is the good guy here. He wants to bring all good people together so no one can be at war again. And people like you, the schools, and Atlas, stand in the way of our perfect world." Raven's eyes widened a little. "Perfect….world?" she said. "Yes. now run away, or I will be forced to put you down." he said, charging his laser cannons. Raven put her sword in her sheath slowly. Bronson then changed his arms back to normal. "Alright…..I don't wish to kill you, Miss Branwen, but I promise you that I'll do what I have to if you try to hurt our cause again." he said before activating jets in his feet, glowing blue, and rising in the air. "Goodbye." he flew away, leaving behind some smoke. Raven was still panting, and she fell back, sitting on the ground, and laid back against a tree, completely tired. "By the brothers…...i'm so tired…..that kid….is not what he seems…." she was about to fall asleep when he heard someone yell. "Grandma Raven!" "Huh?" she looked up and saw Barton and his team run over to her. "Grandma!" Raven sighed. "I am not that old, alright?" "What happened? Are you ok?" he said as he helped her onto her feet. "I'm fine. Just got the wind knocked out of me." Raven sighed as she hung her head. "This isn't like with Cinder, or Watts, or anyone i've faced before. This boy….he's something...different, yet the same." Barton raised an eyebrow. "Grandma, you're not making any sense." from behind, Yang, Blake, Ruby, and Oscar ran over to them all. "I…..I-I…." was all Raven said before she almost collapsed, but was caught by Yang. "Alright mom, we're getting you to the infirmary." she and Blake each grabbed an arm and put them over their shoulders, helping her walk back to the train. Ruby went with them as Oscar stayed with the kids. "So…..you continue to follow in your family's footsteps, I see." Oscar said, Barton rubbing the back of his head nervously." Well….yeah." he said. Oscar shook his head, chuckling. "Well, it appears I can't stop you." he said. "So that's why I feel like it's best to have you kids head the investigation against Peter Khan." Barton's eyes widened. "What? Heading up the in….really?" Oscar nodded. "You'll have help from Team SSSN, and i'll see if Team CVFY can help as well. But we don't have time to worry about it now. The Tournament is tomrrow. You kids should go come back to the school and get some more training in before tomorrow." Roseline nodded. "Sure thing, dad." Team RWBY followed Oscar back to the train, until Barton got a call on his scroll. "Hello?" on the screen came Vinyl. "Vinyl, what're you calling for?" Vinyl was out in the training field behind the school. "Well, me and my team were all training, and i figured maybe you'd want to train with us. It'll be a lot of fun." Barton thought for a sec. "Well, sure. But wouldn't that be…..revealing strategy if we end up facing each other?" Vinyl giggled, her ears twitching. "Well, maybe, but it's still best to train with people you know. Besides, i kind of owe you after you helped me with Cardin Jr." Barton nodded. "Sure, we'll train with you guys. We'll be home soon." he hung up, and he went bright red in the cheeks. "Oh man….." Roseline giggled at him. "Is someone feeling attracted to a certain rabbit girl?" Barton rolled his eyes. "Yeah, sure. Aren't you kind of attracted to Rachael?" Roseline giggled again. "Shut up. Come on." the two entered the train with their friends and the train rocketed off back to Beacon.
