Kodi and Ralph on the Slopes of Mount Doom

A battered Kodi and Ralph made their way up the slopes of Mount Doom in order to destroy the One Ring to defeat the evil dark lord Sauron. Ralph walked in front of Kodi as they made their up the slope. But as they continued to climb up the side of the volcano, Kodi, the red and white wolf-husky, who had become so exhausted from the long trek, stumbled and fell to the ground on his belly. Even Ralph, the gray husky, fell down and rolled onto his back to stop for a moment. Kodi raised his head from the ground and gazed up to the top of Mount Doom. Mustering what strength he could, Kodi literally fought his way up the side of the mountain as he clawed his way up the slope. But he only made it past Ralph as that strength began to fade. Soon, he had to stop and laid down to rest, even though it seemed futile as he laid his head down on the ground.

Ralph looked over to his friend and rolled onto his belly. Then with a growl he too clawed his way up to his best friend. Ralph came up to Kodi and gently rolled the wolf-husky onto his back. Ralph took a deep breath as he used a paw to keep Kodi's head off the ground. Ralph then looked at the Ring around his friend's neck before looking up to the summit of Mount Doom. He felt as if the situation were becoming more and more gloomy looking by the minute. Then gazing down into Kodi's weary and dirt covered face he asked something, trying to bring some happiness back to their dire quest, "Do you remember the Shire near Nome, Mr. Kodi?

"It'll be spring soon." Ralph reminded him. Kodi's eyes opened a little as he hen said, "And the orchards will be in blossom." He took a deep breath, "And the geese will be nesting in the hazel thicket." Then he thought it a little humorous when he said, "And the moose will be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields…" And then a liss, but still happy thought came to his mind when he said, "And they'll be eating the first of the strawberries."

Kodi slightly smiled at the thought, and Ralph slightly smiled back before asking his friend, "Do you remember the taste of strawberries, Mr. Kodi."

"No, Ralph." Kodi said with exhaustion in his voice, "I can't recall the taste of food…" He then began to miss the things that they missed by saying, "nor the sound of water… nor the touch of grass.

"I'm…" He sounded a little scared as he said, "naked in the dark." He sounded truly frightened as he said, "There's- nothing." His eyes grew wide as he told Ralph, whose lips slightly quivered, "There's no veil, between me and the wheel of fire." His eyes grew more wide as he could basically see the dark lord now, "I can see him…" His breath became frantic when he said, "with my waking eyes."

"Then let us be rid of it…" Ralph said with a glare for all the misery that the Ring and its master had caused them, "once and for all."

Kodi looked to him when he said, "Come on, Mr. Kodi." Ralph knew that he couldn't exactly carry Kodi's burden himself, "I can't carry it for you." But a different way came to mind and he said, "But I can carry you."

Then moving Kodi onto his belly he said, "Come on!"

He moved underneath Kodi to where the wolf-husky was laying across the bigger dog's back. Making sure that Kodi was hanging on tight, Ralph started to haul his friend and the Ring up the slopes of Mount Doom.
