Hilda slammed the door shut and sat on her bed, she did not like when her mom brought moving out up on a conversation, everyone knew that.
-Hilda are you ok?- asked the elf, genially worried.
Twig lowered his head and whined a bit, very lowly as Hilda began crying.
Downstairs the situation was still tense, Raven was trying to be as immobile as possible to not drawn any attention, the only problem was that he was the only creature on the room. Johanna took a deep breath and sat down near Raven.
-Why does she have to act like this every time?
-I dunno…
-I am just trying to help her, you know, it is not healthy to live on the middle of nowhere, she never talked a human other then me!
-Uhu…- Raven tried to avoid prolonging the subject.
-But she can't understand that!
-That's crazy…
-Is it that hard to convince her to open her mind?
-Believe me it is.
-How can someone be so stubborn?
-Ye, it blows my mind! Maybe she learned it from someone else.
-All I am trying to say is that- wait.
-Oh look at the time I better hurry, the parade is only a few days away so-
-Wait, the parade!
-Yeah, what about it?
-Let's take Hilda to the parade!
-Uh… can I have an opinion?
-You don't need to be involved.
-Ah, good!
-But could you help me take her?
-…*sigh* Sure.
-Perfect, let's leave tomorrow.
-Ah, what great news.
Johanna got up and finished her tea while Raven just slowly sipped his drink away and got up a bit earlier then the time Hilda went downstairs again, leaving without asking or warning, Twig was with her as usual.
Raven usually felt no appeal to going out with her, but this time it was different. He felt sorry and leaving her didn't seem like the best option, so he flew out of the open window and sat on her shoulder.
-Hey, you alright?
-uh? Ah, ye, I will walk it off.
-...Listen, I am not exactly supposed to tell this but, your mom wants to take you to the Bird Parade.
-Yeah, for like, the third year in a row.
-On her defense it is a good party, good food, a lightshow, there is actually a lot of dedication put into it.
-Yeah, but, I don't want to move… I grew up here! Leaving would be like killing a part of my soul.
-Look, I also had a lot of memories from my old home, and now from the valley too. But if I am offered a superior life quality, food, TV and a good shower, I would pick that on a heartbeat.
Hilda continued walking.
-But where else can I find something to do? All these adventures only happened because of this place…
-Look, I probably should not say this but there are also some things that are… Off, about the city.
-*sigh* Go ahead.
-Well, we have a group of spirits that tell campfire stories, a mass of rats that exchanges secrets, and I am not 100% sure but I think the librarian is very off with her… Unnatural ability to give book to people…
She wondered for some time, maybe she would get to do something interesting while on the city.
-Wait.. how you know all that?
-When you look like a standard city bird people don't expect you to be paying attention.
-Ah, makes sense.
After a day of walking around and re-visiting some points Hilda finally went home before the sunset. She slept early… this time, mostly because Raven refused to help her sneak out again. The next day would be.. interesting to say at least.
-HILDA!
-Uh.. what?
-Get ready! I found a place for us to stay!
Raven got up and he was not happy, not that he ever liked when someone woke up but this time it was particularly annoying.
-Good day for you two as well.
Hilda got up with the little motivation she had and got ready. Twig ate the food that Johanna always left for him and Raven served himself with some tea and cookies. Hilda chose not to eat on a failed attempt to make them stay on the house for longer.
-Ok, if we go now we should arrive.. before midday.
-Can I go with Raven? On his back? Is much faster.
-We better just…not.
-Agh. Fine.
Johanna pecked up some bags with the necessary, Alfur also carried his own supplies and twig didn't need much, just like Raven. He could just fly to Trollberg but he saw no need if they were both going to the same place, besides, the bird parade was just after tomorrow.
-It is going to be a long ride...
-Indeed.
