Hilda pushed the bookshelf a bit, revealing an entire secret room that was just filled with more books. She turned on the lights and closed the door behind, going downstairs and looking at some of the books.
-This room hasn't been visited by outsiders in a while.
-What!? Ah, oh, uh….
-Relax, I'm not gonna tell anyone, would get bad for me as well.
-Are you…
-The librarian, name is Kaisa.
-Kaisa? Mine is Hilda, nice to meet you.
-You are not from here, are you?
-Hm… no, I am just here for the parade.
-Ok, look, can I make a request? Whatever you read, whatever these books say, DON'T try anything. Normally I wouldn't have a problem but… let's just say my supervisors are almost firing me…
-Oh.. uh, ok.
-Great, I will go back and do my thing, please be careful when going out.
The librarian ran upstairs and closed the door behind, leaving Hilda alone…
Meanwhile with Johanna things weren't going quite so well, normally on the woods Hilda could leave, come back and there was not much for her to worry about, but on the city…
She immediately began to worry.
-Hey are you ok?
-Uh? Oh, it's just my daughter, she left without telling me and it gets on my nerves.
-…Can I ask you something?
-Sure.
-You daughter, her hair, is it dyed or…
Johanna thought for a moment.
-Dyed, of course, why?
-No, nothing, is just that it looked so natural and I don't see many people with natural… exotic colored hair.
-I am sorry, "many"?
-The librarian has some purple on her hair, at first I thought it was paint but it never seems to wash off and when she cuts she doesn't seem to dye it…
-Ah…
Raven was also getting worried, Hilda was taking a bit longer then expected, but he was mainly bored. The girl might be an annoyance for him but without her there was really… nothing to do.
He started doing what he usually did when he came to the city, observe. People never really expected him to be capable of understanding them. He spent some minutes waiting…. And waiting… until Hilda finally left the building. He flew and sat on her shoulder as usual.
-How it went?
-Good… talk more when we are alone.
They began walking without any particular destination, just for the sake of knowing a bit more about the city. Raven knew most of the places, which proved itself to be quite useful since Hilda just couldn't difference two streets.
It took a while for them to finally decide to go home.
-Hilda! What do you think you were doing!?
-Just walking, I do this every day.
-But, not here, you don't know anything about the city, or-
-Mom, relax, I know what I am doing.-Hilda pointed at Raven and blinked.
-Uhu, yes, sure.
Hilda went back to her room, locking the door and sitting on the bed. Twig jumped on her lap and the girl hugged him tightly.
-Raven, I found out what was so weird about the librarian, I found spell books and a secret room, what leads me to believe-
-Please don't tell me…
-A witch.
-Interesting…I will definitively add this to the report.
-You still working Alfur? Even far from home?
-The elfs don't have a lot of information on Trollberg, at least not from the inside, so as soon as I informed that we were travelling, they requested some reports.
-No, don't put this in any form of document, forget it is a reality, never, NEVER mention this again.
-Why not?
-Hilda, I have been around as old as this city is a thing, and when someone finds out about a witch things don't go quite so well…
-But this was a long time ago, sure they would be more tolerant by now.
-I severely doubt.
-Well, I can't omit information so…
-Why no one does what I say?
-Stop being so dramatic.
Johanna knocked on the door, Hilda got up and let her in.
-So, are you enjoying the city?
-Not much, the woods are still better.
-Look, I know this is not your dream vacation but, trust me, you will find something interesting to do. Now, what about we go and find a nice restaurant?
-Sounds ok.
-If I remember correctly there is a really good one a few minutes from here…you three, don't cause any trouble.
They both left, leaving Raven, Alfur and Twig alone… well, there was still the owner but none of them felt comfortable with him, especially Raven and the elf. The bird was quite unsatisfied, he could not have any of the things he had at home… now he kind of understood Hilda's point.
It was a place he was familiar with but it wasn't the same thing.
-What do we do now?
-Well, I was just going to keep writing my report, and since you are here, could you give me some more details about the city?
-It's a city, people go to work, they eat in places, there is not much on the surface.
-Understandable, but, is there any unusual events under the surface?
-Well, then… we are entering on a territory I would prefer not to explore…
