Merry Christmas, Nick!

Chapter 2

All he wanted to do was spend a quiet Christmas Eve at home, but for the second year running Chief Bogo had called him in to work! At least this year the assignment was in Foxtown so at least it made some sense, but it always seemed that if there was a crummy assignment he always got the call. He knew that Bogo didn't like Foxes, but there were now seven others on the force. Why couldn't he pick on them once in a while!?

When he was through he did take time to surprise his mother. They were going over to her house on Christmas day, but since he was nearby he thought her might as well stop in. He knocked and when she'd saw him she threw open the door and hugged him tight. He returned it and eventually he made it into the house.

As always he had to admit Catherine was a beautiful vixen. She'd married at an early age and he and his siblings were born soon after. His father had passed away a few years later and he could just barely remember him. He'd always wondered why she hadn't remarried. One of his sisters and two of his brothers and their families' were already there. He'd only stayed long enough to look at the decorations and wish them all a Merry Christmas.

Fortunately there was little traffic at that time of night and the drive home was a short one. He pulled into the driveway a few minutes just before midnight. Quietly he shut the car door not to disturbed the neighbors and let himself into the house. And like last year his bunny lay on floor before a fireplace with crackling fire, the only thing lighting the room. He quickly joined his bunny, taking her into his arms, and then their lips met. Soon their kiss became more passionate and then they heard the first squeak.

They both looked at the basket, being kept warm by the fire, and the first kit poked its head up. He thought it must be Nicholas, Jr. Seeing them the kit quickly crawled out and in the process rocked the basket, waking the others. Moments later they were covered with six squeaking kits happy to see both their parents.

Nick tickled his son and then looked at him closely. He had his red fur and his mother's long ears. His eyes were an emerald green as were his two brothers and their three sister's eyes were purple just like their mother's. All of them were a bit larger than Rabbits at this age and somewhat more active too.

Judy was nursing the others and then looked at him. She smiled.

"Merry Christmas, Nick!" she said lovingly and smiled again.

Green eyes met purple ones and he returned her smile.

"Merry..." he began.

"Da da," Nick, Jr. said, reaching up and touching his father's face.

Tears came to both their eyes.

"Thank you, Fluff," he said, reaching over and touching her face.

Then he leaned closer and kissed his bunny again.
