Chapter
1: It begins
"You know he actually is kinda hot, when he doesn't open his mouth." Ginny stated while she sat breakfast at the Gryffindor table. Luna who was beside her (obviously not at the RavenClaw table) looked up at her curiously she asked,
"Who?"
"Malfoy."
Hermione's head shot up, she gave Ginny a disgusted look, "Ew, what's wrong with you, Gin. He is disgusting."
Ginny shrugged, "Inside yeah he is, but outside he is gorgeous." Hermione shook her head and looked over at The Snake Pit. Draco was talking to Zabini and Nott, "I'd shag him if he never opened his mouth." Said Ginny going back to her food. Hermione thought she may hurl after hearing that, she looked away from The Snake Pit and tried to eat her breakfast the best she could.
Snake Pit:
"I know the war is over and no one really cares about the significance of blood any more, but c'mon Drake, her, miss know-it-all bookworm, She hates you." Stated Blaise.
"What would your father say, disgracing the Malfoy name?" Asked Theo.
Draco scoffed "I don't care about what my father would say, he is as good as dead to me."
"And your mum, what about her?" Asked Blaise
Draco put the goblet to his mouth "As long as I don't get any one pregnant she doesn't care." He then began to drink the contents of his pumpkin juice.
Blaise looked over at Pansy who was actually minding her own business for once, talking with her other friends. But Blaise wanted her input and tapped her on the shoulder to get her attention. When she looked at him he spoke, "Whats your thought?"
She looked confused "About what?"
"Drake and his new found feelings for The Gryffindor Princess?"
Pansy just rolled her eyes, "I honestly do not care, Blaise. And they're not new feelings. He just hides things well."
Advanced Potions:
Professor Slughorn assigned partners of two to make a potion that helps you breath underwater for period of time. Theo and Neville, Luna and Pansy, Blaise with Ginny , Hermione and Draco and so forth.
Draco took his seat beside Hermione giving her a grin, she looked at him with pure hatred.
Blaise took a seat next Ginny and opened his mouth, "My friend likes your friend."
"That's rather vague." She then leaned into him "What do you know?"
Draco went to get the ingredients for the potion, while Hermione setting things up. Ginny kept giving her winks and smiles, Hermione however just ignored her. Draco returned setting stuff down. They were quiet at first then Draco broke that, "Do you hate me?"
She didn't look up, but she did respond, "Very much so, why are you asking?" Malice in her tone.
"Anything I do to change that?"
"Nope, not even if you dropped dead."
Draco sighed and started to stir the contents of the potion until it turned orange. Hearing an explosion both their heads looked up and over. Seamus and Dean's potion was everywhere. "Seasmus, Dean, are you two okay?" Hermiones voice was full of concern.
Seamus only smiled at her "All good here, 'Mione. Just a little sticky."
After AP and their other classes, Hermione was in the library reading in her favorite spot in the back, in a big comfy chair. No one could see her there, and most of the time Madam Pince never knew she was there until she would go book browsing. Hermione knew no one would bother her there. Hermione was lost in the pages of a muggle fairy-tale. She really wished a real prince would sweep her off her feet like in the books. But just Because magic really did exist she feared that, that kind of love did not. Letting a sigh escape her lips as she turned the page, very unaware she was being watched by a pair of enchanting silver eyes.
Curfew was in an hour and Hermione decided it was time to leave her sanctuary, she gathered her things and walked out heading down the halls of Hogwarts. She started to get the feelings she was being followed. She turned around her eyes landed on Draco, whose head was down. Not really thinking much of it she continued on till she reached the portrait to the Gryffindor Common room. Going up to the girls dormitory she went to her bed, looking around everyone but Ginny was asleep. Climbing into her bed she covered her self with her blankets and closed her eyes. "Psst." She heard, but she ignored it.
"Hey, Mione." Came the voice the Ginny.
Hermione opened her eyes and looked at Ginny, "I heard something fascinating today in AP. It's about a guy."
"Who?"
"Malfoy.."
Hermione narrowed her eyes at that name and before Ginny could continue she shot her down, "I don't care to ever know any thing about the vile creature. Good night, Gin. Sleep well."
Ginny pouted, but said no more.
1. 2. 3.
A couple days later mail came and a handsome white owl dropped a unknown parcel in front of Hermione. Opening it up with curiously, she found a note attached to it, which said:
I thought you may like this. Never pegged you for the fairy-tale Princess damsel in the distress kind of girl, but we all have our secrets.
"Whose that from?" asked Ginny.
Hermione looked all over the note and on the back there wasn't name or crest. "No idea." She opened the book on the white pages were golden letters. The whole book was written in gold. It wasn't a muggle book but it was still a fairy-tale. Called The Dragons Princess.
Reading the inside of the book: A selfish prince cursed from birth to live out the life of a dragon, only human on full moons. The only way to break the curse bestowed upon him is if and only if he can win the love of woman who hates him. And the bottom of the book was another letter that read :
Muggle fairy-tales may need the prince to rescue the princess, but in all reality it's the princess who saves the prince. This is book one. Don't bother trying to find them, I am positive you will not succeed. Don't worry, I will send you the rest.
Forgetting all about the food in front of her, Hermione began to read. Getting sucked into a wizard fairy-tale.
Later that day Hermione could be found out side on top of the bleachers. Nothing was going on that needed her attention so she was lost in the book.
"Granger?"
"Go away, I'm reading." She said not bothering to look up, she had no idea who is was, and nor did she care.
"Nose in a book, is that all you do is read?"
Hermione looked up and arched her brow and spoke, "Theo?"
He smirked at her, "And you were expecting, I don't know Draco?"
"Ew, no never. Can I help you?"
Theo chuckled and replied, "He's not that bad, you know. At least this year he is trying to be a better man...Any way I was wondering if you may help me with something?"
Hermione sighed and put her book down, "Please tell me it's not homework?"
He smiled and shook his head, taking a seat next to her, he spoke, "I have a slight crush on your best mate. Was wondering if you could put a good word in for me?"
"Who is it exactly?"
"Ginny."
Hermion's mouth dropped then closed as she spoke, "Yeah, sure."
Theo nodded and stood up, rubbing the back of his head "Kind of funny how the Slytherins are falling for the Gryffindors, isn't it?" He didn't give Hermione a chance to question him on that, he just thanked her and walked off.
Hermione intended on going to back to her book, till he started to rain. Gathering her things she proceeded to leave the bleachers, when the rain began to down pour, she went under the bleachers. Thought she was going to be alone...till she spotted the tall white-blonde hair and pale skin of Draco Malfoy. He was laying on the grass with his eyes closed. She walked up to him, looking down she asked, "Are you dead?"
His silver eyes opened slightly and looked at her. A grin forming on his lips, "If this heaven."
Hermione rolled her eyes giving him a scowl as she walked over to a post sat down and leaned against it. Draco chuckled and sat up, watching her as she pulled out a book and buried her nose in it. "What'cha reading?"
No answer.
Draco took it upon himself to find out, he got up, walked over to her and sat down in front of her. "Fancy love stories?"
"Yes, is that a problem?"
He shook his head, moving so be was now beside her. "Granger, I am very sorry, for everything."
Huffing Hermione replied, "And that is suppose to make every thing better?"
Draco's eyes bore into the side of her head, "Thought you were the forgiving type?"
"Even I have my limits, Malofy. You may be 'nice' to me for right now, and yes you did apologize, but whose to say, you have actually changed." she explained with air quotes.
"You don't know me, you only know my facade. So how can you know if I have changed?"
She looked at him, her chocolate brown orbs staring into his silver abyss. If she didn't hate him so much, she could get lost out to sea in his eyes. They had a strange but alluring pull to them. She let out a sigh and spoke, "Only if your heart was beautiful as your eyes. But you Malfoy are tainted. Pure-blood or not, your heart and soul are black. I don't know if there is an redeeming quality about you, and I don't know if I care enough to find out for my self." Putting her book away she got up and disappeared into the rain, leaving a very hurt and heart broken Draco behind. Tears welled up in his eyes, and began to fall as quick and heavy as the rain it's self.
That night Draco received a letter from his mum. He opened it as he sat on his bed he began to read:
Draco,
Good evening my baby dragon. I was pleased to see you have written me back so soon, but my heart broke when I read what you wrote. You can not give up on love, even if the other is blinded, you have to make her see. I have faith you will win her heart in the end. Remember, you always hurt and the ones you love. Love would be pointless if you didn't have to fight for it.
As you know your father is in Azkaban, and will be for long time, I know he is dead to you, Draco, but he would like a word with you. You are old enough to decide weather or not you wish to speak with him. I can't imagine it would be wise to bring up Miss. Granger , he would never except her and would try to discourage you.
On a happier note, your aunt, my sister Andromeda has given me another chance as her sister. We talking about holding Christmas over there with her and her Grandson, Teddy, your cousin. I do believe she did say something along the lines of Harry Potter joining as well. Good chance's are that he may have Miss. Granger tag along with him.
The war is over, put your hatred aside, and if not me or yourself do it for her.
With all the love in this world and the next,
Mum
Draco folded the letter and put away with the rest of this letters. His mother has always been good at cheering him up. If anyone could it was her. He got up and decided to go to the library, chance's are the other half his heart would be there.
Turning his heel he walked into the library Madam Pince greeted him he nodded at her and continued on his way. He stood in front of a book shelf moving the books a little so he could see to the other side. For once Hermione wasn't alone, there sat at the table with her was Theo and Ginny. 'Wow Theo works fast' Draco thought.
"Hermione, what the hell is the Sirens Sin?" Ginny asked looking at her friend.
Hermione looked at her friend curiously, while asking, "Um-I am too sure what that is, where did you hear is from?"Ginny looked at Theo and nudged him.
"It's old magic, like really old, it's kind of hush- hush. And usually only have to do with pure-bloods. We happen to of over heard our head mistress talking about it. It's not like a sin you'd think of like from the seven deadly sins, more of a curse. And a very very dark one. I don't know all properties of this curse, and I don't understand it. It goes back in the time of Merlin." Explained Theo.
"So if you know this, why are you asking me?"
Theo let out a sigh, "You're not a pure-blood, but you're incredibly intelligent and know far more than lot of pure-bloods. We were just wondering if you knew any thing on it?"
Hermione shook her head and replied "I can check out books on it..."
Theo chuckled "No can do, any books known to Sirens Sin is banned, or in someone vault. I know this may seem like a problem but Ginny here thinks if any one can find out anything you can."
Hermione began to think, she didn't have much to go by, but she had a feelings she would sure find out soon, rather than later.
Great Hall Dinner:
Professor McGonagall stood before all the students and spoke, "In the time of Merlin there was a curse known as the Sirens Sin, follows only pure-blood families. It is very old and very dark curse. The chance's of you knowing about this is very slim, if not next to nothing. The reason I am bringing it forth now is because we have discovered that the curse has awaken in a handful of pure-bloods in Hogwarts. I have no idea how to save you from the Sirens Sin. The symptoms are all very different, all but one, your blood will have a hint of silver in it. This curse will slowly kill you , you will not live past your 20h birthday. The books on Sirens Sin are all banned you will not be able to find a single one. And the ones that do exist they must be locked up. Professor Slughorn and I will be testing pure-blood students starting tomorrow. I am truly sorry."
