Still Here
by Mezameta Durai
The gentle light shines down onto a small singular flower, it has been still for years now, a locket rests around the base of it, rusted and opened with a faded picture of young children, a boy with a green shirt with a yellow stripe and a human child wearing a sweater green with two stripes of the same yellow color, the colors had nearly all faded away, but resides still, from the door way the sound of footsteps is heared.
"This was the great mountain that held the monsters huh? Well we best see if we can find any remaining survivors, or the chief is going to be pissed." A man says standing roughly five foot seven with a sword on his hip and a shield on his back. Another follows after him, a small child with blue vibrant eyes nods, she was wearing an orange sweater with a blue stripe. The girl sees the lone flower and moves towards it hand reaching out when the man suddenly grabs her and pulls her back as a blade swings out and misses the both of them. The sound of heavy steps is heard as a woman with golden eyes glares angrily at them.
"LEAVE!" She shouts as she points the blade at the two. The man raises his hands trying to show no harm.
"Please wait, are you human? Why are you here? We mean you no harm..." The golden eyes narrow as the blade is shines in the light, it held a blue glow to it as the blade curved around the handle in one direction, the entire thing was one massively long blade. "Y-Your… Your a… hybrid! Please you got to understand we need to-"
"YOU HUMANS HAVE DONE ENOUGH!" The woman shouts, her brown hair flows past her shoulders, she looked to be about eighteen. Dressed in a dark purple shirt with blue strips on it. "I won't let you ruin the last of my family… the only one left despite his stillness. I can still save him… I have to."
The man blinks in confusion as he glances at the flower, his eyes widen as the stories come back to him.
"Y-Your Frisk… the one whom saved them all… and that means… that is what is left of Asriel Dreemurr." He says as 'Frisk' grips the blade tightly.
"Chara was right, I was so niave to think you humans could be trusted… Toriel, Asgore, Sans, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Napstablook, Papyrus, all of them… DIED because of you bastards..." She growls out as the man draws his sword, seeing a coming battle.
"Veri, go and take cover. I don't see a way out of this..." He says as the girl looks at the man frightened before nodding as Frisk glares at the man. "My name is Fregal Kein, please listen to me Frisk, we have no reason to fight! I am not one-" He raises his sword and blocks an attack as the golden eyes glare down at him.
"DON'T LIE TO ME! I CAN SMELL THE HUMAN SCENT ALL OVER YOU!" She yells as she presses him back, her sword over his head as he grabs his shield and uses it to press her back before using it to block another attack.
"What has happened to you? I heard you were such a cheerful girl, now your so spiteful and anger filled… yet your still not corrupted by the darkness of your soul..." He says as he blocks another attack from Frisk as she grabs his shield with her left hand. It glows red as it starts to heat up the shield. He grunts as he feels the pain but it was nothing he couldn't handle before.
"YOU ALL DID!" She screams as she stabs her strange blade into the ground and uses her right hand to punch the man sending him back, his shield stays with Frisk as he loses his grip of it. She tosses it to the side, the heated metal dents easily as it smashes into the ground near the exit of the room. Walking towards him she calls her sword back as it vanishes from her spot and appears in her hand. Raising it over her head the small steps of a child is heard as the little girl jumps infront and a blue glowing barrier blocks Frisk's attack catching her off guard.
"LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Veri shouts as Frisk stares at the girl. She places her sword back into the ground as she glares at the human.
"Veri MOVE, this isn't safe for you..." He says as he glances up at Frisk, "Please Frisk, don't harm her..." Frisk kneels down and with still angry eyes looks at the girl.
"Girl, whom are you..." Frisk asks as she looks at the child.
"V-Veri Kein… Of the Kein family, Grand daughter of Egel Kein..." She says willingly, Frisk stands and looks at Fregal.
"You explain. Now." Frisk says her eyes glare as he sighs.
"Shes… my charge. I am an adopted blessed human, her father died over ten years ago after the war began with humans, and left me to care for her… Egel sent us to find any monsters left to try and rebuild… he figured some may have returned here." Frisk narrows her eyes and takes her blade and takes a seat next to the flower.
"Leave. There is no one left to take to my so called father." Fergal's eyes narrow. "My friends, family, all have died. All remains is him… and I will stay here until he wakes again… How many years has it been since I freed them all?" Frisk asks as she glares at the two.
"One hundred and fifty four years. Word was that you vanished a little over one hundred and forty years ago..." Frisk nods as she glances to the light peering through.
"That I did, after meeting my father I denounced it all… this gift of mine is a curse. I cannot save the one I loved… I cannot live with the others. I will keep him company until time takes me. Through illness or otherwise." She says as she gently strokes the flower's petals. "Hes been resting for over a hundred years… and I wait for him to wake… just a nap he said. Just a nap..." She says withholding tears.
"Veri, lets go… it seems we stumbled into a place we don't belong..." Veri looks at her guardian before shaking her head.
"N-No… I want to help her!" Veri runs up to Frisk and hugs her from behind, Frisk tenses up as her grip on her sword tightens then loosens.
"Go little one, not everyone can be saved. This is how my story ends. Tell him you found me dead, and my magic makes this place unreachable again." Frisk says as she feels the small head shake.
"No… grandfather is… hes changed lately.. Tired and old. He will be gone soon, hes gotten ill… so I don't want to watch him die… I want to help you… Stories say Asriel was strong in the soul… I want to see you and him be strong together like my mother and father were." She says as the light slowly fades as the sun outside drops.
As the darkness settles, it comes quiet as Frisk nods her head. "Okay." She says as she feels her eyes grow heavy. "Just...let me rest… a few..." She says as her body slowly slumps, and becomes still in the child's arms as the man's eyes widen. The silence as a gentle moonlight peers through to show two flowers residing by each other, with a sword stuck in the ground next to them and a locket the other...
