He walked up the hill towards the house, gift in hand, the little, winged and blue Chao at his side, helping out. The sky was clear and the sun was setting, giving off a colorful and orange radiance while snow blanketed the ground, small grass spots poking out.
Wintertime, a time when snowflakes rained down from the sky, a time for warming up to avoid freezing, the last season of the year and the season when the holiday everyone rejoiced so much came. Today was the day, it was Christmas.
Sonic the Hedgehog, world hero and fastest thing alive, smiled as he neared the wooden house, looking forward to spending Christmas and the final days of the year, including the start of the new year, with the girl he had been in love with for years.
The blue hedgehog was bundled up, wearing a winter jacket and ear muffs along with mitten-y versions of his trademark gloves while still wearing his trademark red sneakers. A necklace sat around his neck, glowing with pink magic, providing him extra warmth.
Sonic remembered where he got the necklace, Amy had made it and given it to him the previous Christmas as a gift, one of many symbols of their love for each other. Their relationship had come a long way, Amy no longer chased him and he no longer ran from her.
He heard a cooing sound, knowing it was Kiwi the Chao, and raised a hand to scratch the helpful, little creature's head, not dropping the present. The spiky hero walked up the front steps and knocked on the front door, patiently waiting for his girlfriend to come.
Inside the house, Amy was sitting down and having a warm cup of tea, the heater turned on to a point where warm air filled the house. The living room was decorated with the traditional holiday decorations, a Christmas Tree in the corner of the room, gifts already under it.
She heard the knock just as she sipped her last ounce of tea and put the cup away, the pink hedgehog was wearing pink socks, blue gray jeans and a red tank top along with her gold bracelets, white gloves and her red hair band.
Making her way to the door, Amy's heart was fluttering with excitement, knowing that her Sonic was here. Ever since the day he admitted his feelings, since their first date, Amy always looked forward to spending time with the one she loved dear.
Amy opened the door and Sonic walked in, waving happily as he set down the wrapped package beneath the tree before the two embraced each other, hugging and sharing a tender kiss on the lips. Kiwi chittered and Amy pet him, giving the helpful Chao some affection.
With Sonic's task of delivering some of the last Christmas gifts complete, the hedgehog gently dismissed Kiwi and the little Chao flew off to places unknown, likely to either return to one of the Chao Gardens or to find one of his other owners. It was a big world out there.
'Shudder shudder shudder', one of the packages shuffled as the creature inside the wrapped gift started moving. Amy was curious as she looked at the moving package, pondering as to what creature was inside, could this be a new pet that Sonic was giving her.
Of course, she'd have to wait until they started opening after dinner. As night fell, the two hedgehogs spent their time making out, playing a few board games, arm wrestling and watching a Christmas special or two on TV with one of the specials being about a red nosed reindeer.
Ah, the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Amy thought it was one of the cutest specials in TV history, but Sonic thought it was a cool, standard TV movie made for fun and the holiday spirit. After the half an hour Red Nosed Reindeer special was done, the two hedgehogs decided to get dinner.
Initially, Sonic was eager to dig into the turkey . However, Amy said, "Lets reserve that for tomorrow night, dear. For now, let's have some carrots and burger. I already brought out two burgers to defrost."
"Ok then," Sonic commented politely, he began helping Amy cut up the carrots and got out the pot and frying pan for the food to cook. The two hedgehogs put the chopped carrots in the boiling bot and worked on preparing the burgers for cooking, being as careful as possible.
To ensure the burgers tasted splendid, Sonic and Amy seasoned them, applying some pepper and some salt to each of the burgers before setting them in the pan and turned on the stove, activating the timer for the time for when the burgers and carrots finished.
With the task complete, Amy kissed the hedgehog on the cheek. "Thanks, my blue beau." She said with happiness. Sonic held his girlfriend's hand and held her close to him, softly ruffling her smooth and girlish quills, "You're welcome, my lovely Rose."
Deciding to pass the time until dinner was done cooking, the hedgehog duo turned on the radio and played romantic Christmas music. As the song 'My Romantic Christmas Dream' by Merina A. Fox played, Sonic and Amy danced together, savoring the time they had together.
No mad scientists out to take over the world, no giant monsters on a rampage, nobody spying on them and no mainstream media looking for news stories on Sonic or his life, it was just the two hedgehogs, together on Christmas with nothing to disturb their intimacy.
Smooth saxophone and bass drum music played over the speakers along with the alluring tone of Merina's voice, setting the mood as the hedgehogs waltzed together, Sonic twirled Amy around and they took a step forward followed by two steps back.
This was not the first time they'd danced together; they'd danced together once while on a date at the local dance club in Station Square in the first few weeks they were dating. Sonic had been quite a break dancer, but seeing Amy's dance moves greatly impressed him beyond belief.
Jingle bells played in the background of the song, adding to the music and the Christmas tone of it. Those famous bells that rang whenever Santa Claus' sleigh flew across the sky every Christmas season, the sound of those bells brought happiness and hope to many in this world.
Sonic and Amy looked into each other's eyes, their hearts aflame with love, noticing that mistletoe had appeared over their heads. The two hedgehogs leaned in and kissed hard on the lips, French kissing away and engaging in small tongue wrestling.
Amy lifted her right leg next to Sonic's side and the hedgehog placed his hand under it while placing his other arm around the pink hedgehog's neck all while she kept her arms tight around his neck, with nobody around to stop them, they were free to make all the love they wanted to.
The timer went off just as the song had reached its end, letting both hedgehogs know that dinner was now ready. Sonic got out the plates, the knives and forks and set the table while Amy deactivated the stove and got the burgers and carrots.
Just before they sat down to eat, Amy went to the fridge to get drinks and brought out a hot dog along with a bread slice and chili, grabbing a paper towel as she started fixing up one more food for their Christmas dinner to eat, Sonic's favorite food; a Chili Dog.
Sonic sat down at the dinner table patiently as Amy placed the hot dog in the bun, grabbed a butter knife and used it to get as much chili out of the chili jar and carefully spread the chili on top of the hot dog, evenly flattering it out slightly until she'd made the chili dog.
With that task complete, Amy picked up the chili dog and placed it on Sonic's plate with the burger and carrots while grabbing a napkin for each of them. The pink hedgehog sat down at the table with Sonic, their nourishing Christmas dinner ready to be nourished.
Both hedgehogs put their hands together and silently prayed to the heavens for happier days, giving thanks to the Savior for coming down to guide humanity on a safer and better path, for coming to forgive everyone for the mistakes they made before He came down on his mission.
Quietly finishing their prayers, the couple dug into their food, Sonic ate into his carrots as Amy ate hers. The orange chopped up food tasted exquisitely yummy, after a few bites, Sonic drank his glass of milk and washed down the food before eating the rest as Amy did the same.
They cut up their respective burgers so they could eat it slowly and bit into the delicious meat, savoring it and complimenting each other for doing a remarkable job. Sonic ate his hamburger before sipping his milk, digesting his meal before going for his chili dog.
Oh, the yummy, juicy and delicious chili dog, the best food that the world had to offer. Sonic ate every last ounce of the chili-covered, bun-clad hot dog he could eat, drinking after a few bites and wiping his mouth once he was done, throwing the used napkin afterwards.
Sonic helped Amy put away the dishes and clean up the table, washing the plates and silverware, putting them all in the dishwasher. Thanks to the brave blue hedgehog, the dishes took a few minutes to get done. Amy and Sonic looked at the time, it was 8:05 P.M.
Now that dinner and the dishes were done, it was time to open presents. Oh, gift opening, everyone's favorite part of Christmas itself. The two hedgehogs grabbed the camera and headed into the living room, deciding who would open whose gift first.
Many of the presents under the tree were, of course, from Sonic to Amy and to Sonic from Amy. Some were from their friends. Sonic decided to open his presents first. Amy gave the hedgehog a small present and he dug in, unwrapping it at top speed.
"A bracelet!" The hedgehog exclaimed happily, discovering his first Christmas gift of the year; Amy had given him a gold-brown metal bracelet with a heart symbol on it. "I bought it from the local jewelry store," Amy said, "It was at a very reasonable price and thought you'd love it."
"Of course I like it," Sonic placed the bracelet on his arm, "Its an amazing gift." Sonic gave Amy a small board sized present and she opened it up, revealing it to be a picture of the blue hero and his girlfriend spending time alone together on a rainy day.
"Something to hang on the wall, oh, thank you so much" Amy thanked Sonic for the present, hugging him before hanging up the picture on the wall, right near the window. Sonic received his next gift, which happened to be a new pair of socks, straight from the sock store.
The blue hedgehog removed his shoes, noticing that his old socks had gotten a bit worn out and drenched with a bit of sweat from all that running. He slipped off the socks, grabbed a cloth to wipe his feet and slipped on the new socks with hearts on them before redonning his shoes.
Sonic's next gift for Amy turned out to be a picture of them at the beach together, showing Sonic in white-blue swim trunks and Amy in a pink string bikini standing together and waving.
"We had a ton of fun that day, didn't we?" The pink hedgehog commented with a giggle.
'Shudder shuffle shudder.' One of Sonic's gifts for Amy was shuddering and shaking more, a creature chittered inside, followed by a slightly muffled meow. "Is that what I think it is in there?" The pink hedgehog asked, hearing the animal inside.
"Lets open up one of mine first and then you can open that." Sonic suggested. Amy handed the hedgehog her next present and the speedster unwrapped it, finding a cowboy hat in it. He took a minute to appreciate it and tried on the hat, grinning with intrigue and pride.
Finally, he gave his girlfriend the shuddering gift and Amy dug in, wondering what the animal inside was. She lifted the lid off, gasping when what was inside raised its furry head. The creature was... a cat.
"Mew." The orange tabby said, "Mrow."
"Awww." Amy sighed and began petting her new pet, "Just what I wanted."
"Merry Christmas, Ames." Sonic told her and gave Amy her next gift; A cat collar.
The orange tabby climbed out of the box and into Amy's lap, laying down on her, curling up and getting comfortable, allowing the female hedgehog teen to place the collar around its next. "So?" Sonic asked, "Have you thought of a name for the little one?"
"He's pretty mellow." Amy said, "So, I'll go with 'Mellow the Cat." She scratched the purring, resting tabby's ear, "Do you like that, Mellow? Isn't that a nice name?" Mellow's purr answered Amy's question and she hugged him, filled with joy that she had a pet.
After opening the last of their presents, Sonic and Amy sat on the couch together, arms wrapped around one another while Mellow lay in a cat nest, fast asleep and purring softly. The two hedgehogs looked at each other, staring into their respective green eyes.
"Merry Christmas, Sonic." Amy said.
"Merry Christmas to you as well, Amy." Sonic replied.
They both shared a loving kiss with the pink hedgehog leaning back and Sonic atop her, as they enjoyed their romantic Christmas as it lasted, happy to have each other...
The End
