Chapter 11: "I'm an Echidna!"
The Right End of the Flank
"NOW DIE!" Danzai shrieks with his fist coming down on Knuckles. Amy and Archie Tails gawk in horror as their laughter ceases. The entirety of the hall shatters like glass, starting from the fall of the Mecha Gorillas knuckles.
"HAHAHAHAHA," Danzai cackles hysterically. "YOU FELL FOR THE OLDEST TRICK IN THE BOOK!"
He lifts his fist to see Knuckles glued into the ground like a flatten pancake. Amy winces while Archie Tails sweats through fear. "This...this isn't good..." Tails mumbles.
Danzai turns to the two of them, grinning with absolute joy. "One down, two to go."
"This isn't good! Knuckles is supposed to be our muscle. There's no way their Knuckles is this weak.", thinks. "I have to think of a way to counter. If I can get Amy behind him, maybe we still might have a chance..."
looks to his left for Amy, but all thats in her place is a gust of smoke. Dumbfounded, looks around until he sees her sprinting towards the enemy with her hammer sprung out. Somehow he's even more in disbelief.
"Aarrrggh!" Amy yells as she charges towards the monstrous monkey. "This is for Knuckles!"
"You fool! I'll crush you!" Danzai slams his hand down into the shattered floor, however Amy leaps between his fingers just in time, running along his furry forearm as she prepares to swing her hammer. She thanks Chaos for her quick thinking as she closes in on his dome. Yet, just as she's about to swing, Danzai quickly throws his arm upward, flinging Amy into the air.
"Waaahh!" Amy squeals as she hangs in suspended air before falling. Danzai grins maliciously as he goes to catch her and crush her with his barehands. He starts to get up, but is pulled back down, making him lose his balance and his attitude.
"What the- ?!" Danzai exclaims.
"Arggh...Stupid!" A voice calls from underground. His hands are gripped around Danzai's foot, dragging him down further. "I won't even let you get the chance!"
Suddenly, the whole floor collapses under Danzai and him and Knuckles fall into the lower level floor of the ship. Amy falls too, but luckily, thanks for quickthinking, he uses the car they flew in on to save her. Unknowingly to her, this specific car was his Tornado. Tails wipes the sweat from his face and sighes. "You guys are gonna be a handful..."
Center Right Flank
Sally, Rotor, and Bunnie quickly make their way to the center of their assigned ships, wasting no time at all. In fact, we see Rotor finishing up the last few Robotniks that were coming their way. Bunnie stops flying and Sally slows down to look around and assess their possible routes.
"Nicole, we're in some sort of hallway. Do you think you can pinpoint our target?" Sally asks with a hologram of Nicole showing from her wrist.
Nicole looks around, calculating and analyzing preferred routes. "Yes, I already have. You're actually close. If you just make it down this upcoming corridor on the left, there should be a vent that leads right into the computer room..."
A red exclamation mark appears on Nicole's screen. She looks worried.
"What's the matter, Sugah?" Bunnie asks.
"It looks like somethings coming right for you! Be careful!" Nicole warns.
They all look around, forming a circle as to guard each other. In the distance, a motor could be heard but not scene, causing the the room the vibrate a little. It gets closer and the room shakes more. Our friends get a little more nervous, yet ready. From the top of the ceiling comes out Metal Sonic. He lands in front of the three, already targetting on them.
"Just our luck," Rotor says. "We get stuck with this guy."
"It's not like we weren't expecting some actual trouble," Sally notes.
He leaps for the three, aiming directly for Sally. She jumps back, equiping her laser sword from her wristband, countering against his metal claws. Metal pushes her lower, but she willingly allows herself to fall as Rotors metal claw comes swooping in to shred metal to pieces. Metal jumps, coming in contact with Bunnie's metal foot, sending him to the wall 20 feet away. "Bring it!" Bunnie commands.
Metal gets up, looking more fierce than ever as he boosts into Bunnie, sending her through the wall. She flies through the otherside, landing on the wall behind it and hovering with her rocket boots. Metal Sonic hovers before her, ready to make his move. Bunnie tightens her hat from both sides. She scoffs, shooting from the wall and striking Metals core two times. His front lights up, immediately shooting a beam. Instead of hitting her though, it misses completely as she takes hold of Metals arms and flips out of range of the blast. Her two legs extended, she sends them down on Metals head and sends him spiralling down into the darkness, landing some where.
Bunnie doesn't quit, jumping down the walls towards him. He lands on his feet and rockets back up to her. She guards as he sends a deadly punch towards her torso. Luckily it doesn't connect, but it still sends her flying. Just as she's out of view though, A large claw attacks Metal, chaining him against the floor once more. It was Rotor, who seems to be slowly drifting down the side of the wall. "Gotcha! I knew this thing would come in handy!" He cheered.
"You ok Bunnie?" Sally asked, following the battle from the steps.
"Yeah, I'll be fine, hun!" Bunnie says, lowering from the sky.
Metal struggles against the grip of the claws locking him to the ground. Rotor watches then looks to Sally. "That was a close one. I almost thought I'd miss," Rotor says through a sigh of relief.
"Fast and on point. That's our strategy when facing enemies like Metal here," Sally explains. "You guys did good."
Suddenly, Metal Sonic breaks free of the claw, boosting out of it with his back rocket. He does a spiral, clutching Rotor by his throat and throwing him into a door. Rotor falls through, falling to the floor. Metal goes in them stops at the sight of two other people. Sally and Bunnie hurry in as well, halting at the discovery of their friends.
"Amy?! Shadow?!" Sally calls out.
A. Amy jumps at the call of her name while Shadow stops typing at the computer, turning to observe the situation. "Sally! Bunnie, and Rotor!" A. Amy yells. She looks at Metal Sonic and cringes. "And you..."
A. Amy pulls out her hammer, but Shadow stops her, walking towards Metal himself. "I'll handle this. You all should know what to do from here."
The Far Left Flank
Silver wanders around the facility looking for the core computer. As much as he wants to, he can't allow himself to give up. But the amount of telekinesis he's doing is tiring him out. He's just hoping he can find it quickly. He reaches for his intercom device Tails gave him and speaks into it. "Hello? Is anyone there?" He asks.
"This is Nicole. It seems that everyone else is busy at the moment."
"Nicole? Aren't you that holographic whosie-whatsit that was on the ship?"
Nicole blushes out of embarrassment, feeling sort of sad he thinks of her as an 'it'. But she can't exactly say he's lying. "Haha yes. That's kind of correct. We haven't met before, at least YOU haven't met me before."
Silver tilts his head, kind of confused. He shrugs, having figured time travel itself was weird, so what why be confused now? "Right...hey, I was wondering if I could get a hint as to where the core was. I'm sort of lost."
"Certainly. You're not far off. Just a few feet ahead, go to your left, then make a right up a flight of stairs. There, you'll probably find the computer room."
"Oh...eh...thanks!" Silver starts walking down the hall again but then stops at the four-way intersection.
"Is there a problem?" Nicole asks.
Silver chuckles, looking both ways. "C-could you repeat that?"
The Far Right Flank, Lower Level (Outerspace from where we left off)
Knuckles and Danzai fall from the ship, screaming for their lives as they fall into the abyss of space. However, what they fail to realize as they do is that they're actually slowly moving down. They stop screaming enough to take in their surroundings. Knuckles quickly holds onto the wall where as Danzai stops floating entirely, about a quarter mile away.
"Hey! Come down here so I can pay you back for what you've done!" Danzai yells.
"Yeah right!" Knuckles yells back. "Let I'm that stupid. I won't be able to move down there! I'm going back up, later."
Danzai growls, swinging his arms in a furious frenzy. In a tantrum, his fist bang against the ship, causing Knuckles to slide down the ship, trying not to fall. "H-hey! Quit it!"
Danzai doesn't at first, but then he sees a few ships fly by his head, prompting him to stop entirely. He smirks, grabbing a small ship with an Egg Goon in it. "Hehehe, lets play a game then, you spiny red fool!"
Danzai flings the ship towards Knuckles who panics and runs down the ship, along the walls as to avoid it. It crashes, blowing a hole in the ship, send Knuckles flying a little, luckily unscathed. "What the hell is your problem?!" Knuckles retorts.
But the frenzy doesn't stop, as the Mecha Gorilla continues to throw passing ships at Knuckles. Having no choice, Knuckles goes on to run down the ships wall towards Danzai. Danzai smiles, turning himself with his rocket heels and clamping them to the ships wall. Knuckles slows down before Danzai, who tries to crush Knuckles under his fist again. Fortunately, Knuckles digs into the wall, avoiding his fist entirely. "Where'd you go, anteater?!"
Knuckles digs out of the wall, sprint along Danzai's metal belly and punching him in the face, sending him falling lower off the ship. Knuckles continues to float a little before gliding back to the wall. Danzai panics in his fall, grabbing another ship and chucking it at Knuckles. This time, Knuckles doesn't make it out of the way in time, as the ship crashes behind him, causing him to fall down towards Danzai. They both fall onto a small platform below the ship. After a few seconds, Danzai and Knuckles both regain their footing on it.
"Ugh...huh?!" Danzai looks at Knuckles, who begins to get back up while trying to figure out where he even is. "This is all your fault! I've got you now!"
He swings his abnormally large fist from below, uppercutting Knuckles into a nearby floating asteroid. As Knuckles flies into it, it shatters on impact. "Ggh!"
Danzai laughs and does a little victory dance. "So long, you nasty little ardvark!"
From his metal chest, Danzai releases a barrage of missiles towards Knuckles. He can't let himself fail! Knuckles does a flip and bounces from one piece of the crumpled asteroid to the next, evading the missiles. As he just barely misses the last one, he jumps and leaps for Danzai. Danzai grits his teeth in fear but smiles as the missiles come back around to finish the job.
Knuckles smirks as well, using his dreads to guide out of the way quick enough for him to grab one of the missiles and rocket ride it into Danzai's big stupid face. "I'm not an ardvark! I'm an Echidna!" One after one, the missile follow as they blow up in the face of their sorcerer. Severely hurt, Danzai clumsily starts to stumble back. Landing back on the platform, Knuckles leaps once more and lands a jab on Danzai, sending him off the platform and flying off into space elsewhere.
"So long, monkey..." Knuckles says, nodding his head before going back in the direction of one of the big Egg Ships.
Ok. Since I'm still getting back into writing this, I'm still learning how to make it sound as fun as it was before. While I prepare the one for next week, I should plug my Twitter for those of you who would like to keep up with the story.
