A scrawny boy was in the cove, hiding behind a rock as a night fury chased something around, pouncing on his target but never catching it.

Hiccup tried his best not to laugh as to give away what he was doing. He moved the object in his hand around to maneuver the spot of light.

At this moment, he and Toothless were alone. No Snotlout joining him-Spitelout had told him to train harder to catch up to Hiccup's level-, or twins-Ruff and Tuff were there a few hours ago to pick up their saddles, but left after equipping them and feeding Barf and Belch to go on a flight-.

Not that either of the best friends had minded-they were rather used to being alone. A bit too used to it.

Hiccup smiled regardless, watching as Toothless leaped around, trying to catch the light. However, just when his reptile pal was about to pounce again, a ground shaking boom was heard.

Startled, Hiccup dropped the small hammer.

Toothless's pupils slitted before turning back to rounded black squares as he looked over at the rider.

Hiccup hesitated to speak for a bit, still slightly shaken up. Then he sighed, "Hold on bud, I'll go investigate."

On that note, he climbed his way back up and ran towards where the explosion had come from.

On the way there, a bulky-and admittedly chubby-boy was racing and bumped into Hiccup.

"Hiccup! Do you have any idea what's going on?" Fishlegs asked.

He paused, then shook his head, "No. I don't have a clue what could be happening unless another tribe's attacking Berk."

"That idea's kinda terrifying..." The bigger Viking mumbled.

"We'll just have to see." The skinny boy pushed himself to run faster, and once he arrived, a mixture of emotions exploded inside him.

"Ruffnut?! Tuffnut?!" Hiccup exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air.

"Oh, hey H!" Tuffnut greeted cheerfully.

Fishlegs stared in shock, fear, and awe. "A-are you guys riding that Hideous Zippleback?"

Hiccup groaned in exasperation, "Oh Thor..."

Everything faded to white noise as Hiccup became lost in his thoughts, trying to untangle the mess of feelings he had.

The truth be told, he was furious out of anything else.

Hiccup should have seen this coming. This area was a fair amount away from the village-he wondered what Fishlegs was doing away from there anyways?-so the twins had somehow figured out that they could use this place as a loophole.

But, he was never one to openly express huge amounts of anger, so Hiccup just huffed, folding his arms in disappointment at the Thorston twins.

"Guys, this is absolutely insane! I-I think..." and the sound of a body hitting the ground was heard.

A heavy silence held in the air, the tension was so thick you could feel it being cut by a sarcastic statement of, "Great." From Hiccup.

"I don't get why he was so surprised." Tuffnut said, "We're just riding dragons."

Ruffnut nodded in agreement.

"That's exactly the reason why! We're not supposed to be riding dragons, but we are!" Hiccup threw his arms to the sides.

"Duh." Ruffnut looked over at her twin brother, "You're such a muttonhead!"

"You didn't know either!" Tuffnut retorted.

The twins started fighting, and after looking at their riders, Barf and Belch started snapping at each other.

"Alright, enough!" Hiccup yelled, causing them to pause to a halt. It wasn't regular for the runt to raise his voice.

Said boy put a hand on his forehead, shaking his head. "Look, we..we can discuss about this later. For now, we should probably just make sure Fishlegs isn't the one to let our secret out or else Odin help us we're dead."

The Thorstons nodded in understanding, "Right. We don't wanna resort to burning the village.." Tuffnut started.

Before Hiccup to say anything, Ruffnut continued, "..But we will if we have to."

"Oh Thor. But, I guess that's one way to understand it.." the heir mumbled.

Then, it was at this moment Fishlegs got up.

"I had a weird dream..Ohitwasn'tadream-" Fishlegs jumped.

"Okay-calm down-I know this appears really crazy and basically illegal but there's an explanation." Hiccup stated quickly.

Fishlegs seemed to consider Hiccup's words for a moment, then folded his arms. "Okay, what's going on?"

The skinny teen sighed, and began to explain from the beginning.

By the time Hiccup had finished, Fishlegs was just bursting with excitement. "This is a total breakthrough Hiccup! Everything in the Book of Dragons is completely wrong, and it's up to us to update it! Do you realize how important this knowledge is-?!"

"Okay, okay, slow down there Fishlegs." Hiccup awkwardly chuckled, "Dragons are not test subjects and things we just observe. They're living beings too with their own unique qualities like us."

"I understand that. And I wasn't suggesting using them." Fishlegs firmly responded.

"That's good." Hiccup sighed. Now, he just had to hope Fishlegs wouldn't say anything about it to Berk. Or edit the Book of Dragons.

"Though, um, could..could I get my own dragon?" the other teen quietly asked. He didn't want to be left out, and genuinely did want to make a friendship where he could be totally open about who he was.

Hiccup nodded, "Course. But later in the day, cause we're supposed to be heading to the arena soon."

"Right."

Then, the runt turned to the twins and their dragon, who had been quietly listening the entire time. Huh.

"Ruff, Tuff, take Barf and Belch back to the cove, and be careful."

"Understood H!" Tuffnut declared.

"And don't blow anymore stuff up." Hiccup added.

"Fine." The twins said in unison.

And so, the teens went off in their respective directions, passing their fellow berkians who had arrived late via being further away.

A while after dragon training, FIshlegs and Hiccup snuck back in. No one was around; Hiccup always made sure of that.

The twins were also making extra sure by creating...explosive distractions.

So all was going well.

The runt pulled the lever, and out flew a Gronckle.

She growled lowly at first, but upon seeing the two teens and their passive vibes, the dragon quickly calmed down and just looked at him with wary but curious eyes.

Hiccup nodded to Fishlegs, and led the former's hand to the Gronckle's forehead.

After a pregnant pause, FIshlegs smiled and cooed, "Who's a good boy? You are!" unaware that the dragon was actually a girl, "I'm gonna name you Meatlug, do you like that name?"

Meatlug cooed, waving her tail.

Hiccup gave a small smile "I'll have a saddle for you tomorrow. Meet you at the cove."

FIshlegs glanced over, and nodded.

The runt led the way out of the arena, showing the way to the aforementioned place.

Snotlout, who had just returned there to feed Hookfang looked up to see the duo with wide eyes, "Fishlegs?!"

Said boy waved as Hiccup said, "Don't worry! Fishleg's..uh, in on the secret now as well!"

So, they joined him, Meatlug following behind.

Author's note

Ack-I didn't like this chapter as much. Probably because it's rushed. I'm trying to get all the teen's chapters in before that Snoggletog chapter special.

I hope it's at least satisfactory.

Anyways, same procedure as the previous chapters' notes stated; Anything to better improve the story, do share!
