Both characters are over age.

"Lumos!" Bright light from Hermione's wand illuminated the room, revealing dusty floorboards and antique, taupe furniture that was older than Dumbledore. The cabin seemed abandoned if the dust piled atop the furniture was any indication.

"Good thinking," said Sirius approvingly. "Let's hope there's not…anything lurking here. You'll protect me, right?" He drew closer to her, inhaling her sweet perfume, and it cleared his head a bit.

"You have a wand of your own, right?" Hermione pointed out, missing the shark-like grin on Sirius's face. "You are more than capable of protecting yourself."

Sirius swallowed back the reflexive innuendo and nodded. "I feel so much safer with you, though," he purred.

"Much safer than you were out in that blizzard?" Hermione snorted.

"Hey, you spotted this cabin, otherwise we'd still be out there, freezing our arses off and half-dead with hypothermia."

"I shouldn't have brought you out here in the first place," Hermione muttered, dismayed. "Everyone knows the mountains are snow traps…stupid decision, really…"

"Hey," Sirius said again, and when she turned to face him, he gripped her shoulders. "You were only trying to do something nice for a friend. Don't beat yourself up over it." He stared into her eyes, an attempt to not look at how close her mouth was. Or focus on how much she affected him.

"...Thanks," she murmured, but she wasn't as discreet as Sirius — her eyes dipped down to his lips, and it took all the self-control Sirius possessed to not back her into a wall and kiss her senseless.

To save them both, he released her and Hermione turned away quickly.

Trapped alone with Sirius…she wasn't sure how to feel about that. The girl in her was absolutely giddy at the thought of being in such close quarters to the man she fancied, and yet…the mature woman in her was much more complex than that.

It didn't help that just moments ago, Sirius had been so close to her, his eyes and face earnest, and the heady aroma from his body surrounding her and shutting her brain down.

Oh, how she longed to run her fingers through his hair, to be pressed against him…

"What are we doing?" Sirius asked, breaking the silence and forcing her out of her daydreams. Hermione started, her heart leaping into her throat. He was really going to address this here? Right now?

"What do you mean?" she asked, stalling for time as her mind whirled.

"About our situation," he said, and she could just barely see him gesturing in the wandlight. "We're stuck here, alone, without any means of communication…"

"Oh." Hermione expelled a breath. "Just wait out the storm, I suppose."

"Without any supplies? I'm a needy man, 'Mione, I need food."

"But how are we going to find it?" Her question was punctuated by a creak as the wind howled outside, and she edged closer to Sirius. "This place gives me the creeps."

"Don't be afraid," Sirius reassured her. "It's probably really old and the structure is a little unstable."

"That doesn't make me feel any better," said Hermione, shuddering.

"We've got wands," he said, and then his face lit up. "Blimey, I've got a wand!" Rummaging in his pockets, he drew his wand. "Lumos!"

Light flared from the end of his wand, illuminating the room even more, and Hermione had a better look at their temporary lodgings. It was modestly sized, but the furniture was taking up much of the space.

"I'll go explore," Sirius suggested. "You stay here."

"No, I'm coming with you," said Hermione firmly. "Merlin knows what is lurking back there. It's better if we stick together."

"And let's face it, you want to spend more time with me," he teased. Hermione flushed.

"This isn't a good time," she said. "Be ser—be focused. Merlin knows you're already distracting enough," she added under her breath, but froze when Sirius asked, "What was that you said? I'm distracting?"

Hermione didn't need to see him to know that he was smirking. Prat. Heat blossomed in her cheeks. "You weren't supposed to hear that."

Judging from the way he was grinning, this was going to be a long, long night."
