Hey! I'm back…with another chapter…blah blah blah…hmm. Pleasantries…sorry, I don't have any for this chapter. I do have peppy review responses, though! Anyway, I don't think anybody cares about that, so…yeah. Anyway.
Soulmate: The term for two people drawn by 'Destiny' to fall in love and be together.
Soulmating: The science of soulmates, and the 'act' of soulmates.
Soulbond: The bond of two soulmates, encompassing the mental and physical parts.
Soullink: The physical link and/or bond of the two soulmates.
Soulshard: The spiritual or mental link and/or bond of the two soulmates.
Soulbreak: The term for the bond of two soulmates being severed or broken.
Azure Bluet: Thanks Sadie! …you can blame Ellie for the whole Jason Grace the Child Actor…thing. XD I would say thanks, but it was actually Lilith and Ellie who came up with the titles. Of course, they aren't real. Unless they aren't telling me something…
Nothing could go wrong: Hmm. Interesting…I didn't hate my family or my friends…oh, except two…when I first met them. Maybe it has merit. I dunno. Ah…I wondered for a second. *cough* Reader12859 *cough* But okay. Weird…I dunno. But yay! It worked this time. Your new username is good, yes. Yeah…lots of things are going wrong. I'm kinda sick myself…that's sad. Yay! Thank you very much! Yes, a shorter name…*cough* Don't look at the fic I wrote for my friend's birthday then *cough* *cough* And don't look at the one released October 15theither *cough* …I make long titles sometimes…hmm, interesting. How could your completed story be wrong? Yeah. Oh no, a new cut! I couldn't tell you!
…me. *waves lamely*
SunBear: Yes, Jason the Actor…it was Ellie's idea, but thanks, I guess. Well, there's also two other people who could be seen as 'famous', being Reyna (a governor of a rather large and notable state called California) and Piper (the daughter of a movie star) but, we won't talk about that. And yeah. Piper's dad is famous.
Yup. Annabeth can be hypocritical and she is…she doesn't like Percy the Perry, and yeah…but she also doesn't like being Annie. Thanks.
Yeah, Piper just would. (*cough* Plus Mango is fat and cute, so that helps matters *cough*)
…cameos? Hmm…for some reason that makes them sound famous. But yes…Rachel came in, Pollux appears, Malcolm, three of my PJO-related OCs (Sorrel Almandine, Eira Aberdeen, Delta Duvall) even though they aren't famous…yeah, other fun people shall make appearances, yays! And perhaps Jason shall get with ze Piper…we shall see…hehehe…
Thank you very much Willow! :D
Postscript- Suuuuuure. You know nothing. Sorry, I must have mixed you up with that SnowBear.
Daughter of Sally Jackson: Yes! Another update! And here's another one right here!
Joshannis12345: Uh, thanks for telling me, but no…this was the right story.
DaisyLynn21: Thank you! Though, the credit actually goes to ThatGirlWithaCat. Thanks again!
Oh! Here's a fun detail: my cat, who Mango is (except my cat has a different name)- she's cute, and fat, and everything- came in today with no more than 28 BURRS in her fur! It was bad!
Thank you again to the marvelous ThatGirlWithaCat (who left, -_-) and here we go onto the fifth chapter, and why do I make such long A/Ns? It's a page again! *sigh* Oh well, on we go. Also, I'm really sorry for the gaps between updates. School sucks…
Percy's POV
:Percy has a slight problem. He has an obsession with the scary blond girl with those gray, gray eyes.
Okay. To be fair, he's only spoken with her once or twice. Twice, yes. And the first time, he humiliated himself, and the second time she was very angry and he may have shushed her. But he still has grown an obsession with honey blond curls, and stormcloud eyes. He doesn't even know her name- but he's seen her a handful of times- at the Skyview Snack Bar, walking to and fro, in the tiny little library or bookstore she works at, and in his apartment building. He's lucky, he thinks. But he's observed her moods- or what she's wearing, if those are moods- a too-large baggy t-shirt that leaves everything to the imagination, and sweatpants, or shorts, when she's just in the café that sits under their apartments- in a professional pantsuit or blazer with a crisp pressed shirt, heading or leaving to and from work- in jeans and a white shirt at that bookstore. He likes every one, and he's not sure which one he likes best, or if he likes her at all. (He does.)
The next time he sees her and just watches, it's at the grocery store. She's wearing skinny jeans and a tied white t-shirt, and…slippers? Pink bunny slippers. Her hair is in some sort of layered look, some complicated looking thing with a ponytail or something, but hair that still falls around her face, that draws attention to the silver dangles in her ears- he thinks they might be owls? Or just some sort of silver earring. He's never seen her with her hair like that and with earrings, even though he's only seen her a limited number of times, and it makes her look older, more mature, more elegant.
He likes it. She's unaware of his gaze, and he's glad- he almost feels like a stalker, but it's not like he's stalking her, and he notices the thin little chain around her throat, but it seems to disappear as she moves. He isn't sure what to classify this as- casual elegant, maybe? Or something else entirely. She buys a lot of fruits and vegetables and he's not sure if he can see any meat in his cart. As he looks away, he wonders if maybe she's a vegetarian, or maybe she's just incredibly healthy? She looks like a vegan to him.
He pays for his stuff quickly before he crosses over into the realm of being a stalker and decides to work off his nervous energy by ordering a cup of coffee, because obviously more energy is the answer here.
"Hey, Piper," he hears. "No, I'm at the SSB, I was going to pick up coffee? Unless you don't want me to-" she laughs. He knows it's her. She has a nice laugh, he thinks. Too bad she isn't laughing at him. "Okay, okay, I'll see you later. Bye." She pauses. "You hang up. Oh, fine. Goodbye." She presses a button and rolls her eyes good-naturedly at the phone, before walking to the counter and talking to Pollux. The dude looks a little bit struck.
"Earl Grey tea with lemon, and a black coffee, for Annabeth." She says the last part very slowly, methodically, and clearly. Pollux shrugs.
"Alright, Annie-Bella." She growls.
Percy thinks it's hot. After all, he is a red blooded young male. And her name is Annabeth. It may be the best thing he thinks he's ever heard, but really, who's counting here? It's five minutes later that Ann Beatrice's order is called, and Percy wonders how the barista can remember orders and not names. At least Annabeth's coffee isn't messed up either. Percy decides he should probably order. He feels her gaze on him- Annabeth's gaze on him, really.
He really likes her name, Annabeth.
(Percy's Arnold Palmer comes for Percival, but he doesn't mind that much, for once.) When he goes up, he figures out that Annabeth lives on the same floor as Piper- that girl…that she had called. He might not be that smart, but Percy can figure when someone's keeping things from him, and while he doubts Piper's the one keeping the secret- despite the numerous scandals, because yes, Percy knows she's Miss Piper McLean, daughter of the movie star- he doesn't want to believe the girl he just saw is the one who's lying here. It would really suck if Annabeth was a liar. That would mean he probably shouldn't interact at all with her, and he just found out that she had a really pretty name to add to the really pretty face, and a (hopefully) really pretty personality.
Of course, he's not going to approach Annabeth. At least not yet. He needs time, Percy thinks, to prepare himself before he can actually talk to her, as he doesn't want to make a fool of himself and further blacken his name in Annabeth's eyes. He likes her name, probably too much. Definitely too much…
Piper McLean, Annabeth's maybe-roommate, walks past Percy's apartment. "Mango?" she calls. "Come here, Bethie's going to be so mad if she finds out I lost her cat…" her voice is fretful, and Percy thinks 'Bethie' is probably Annabeth in the flesh. In his head, Annabeth is italicized, so it looks prettier. It still doesn't measure up to what he wishes it would be, but it's probably the best he can do. He pokes his head out of the open door and peers at Piper, who jumps when she realizes he's listening.
"Uh, hey," he offers. "Looking for a cat?" The response falls flat. He already knows she's looking for a cat.
He's more of a dog person, but that will have to wait for another day, when he has time to talk to Piper, and has talked to Piper's maybe-roommate, Annabeth. Hopefully Piper will introduce them, if he manages to talk to Piper without looking like a complete idiot also.
"Yes. My…friend's cat. She…stays with me at times," Piper says, and the words seem a little forced to Percy- he's not daft- "and she's so not going to be happy if she finds out I lost Mango when I was watching her-" as Piper frets, Percy shrugs and looks down the hallway, but he sees no black and white coat like he saw on the cat when he borrowed sugar from Piper McLean eight days ago.
"Oh? Your friend stays with you?" he knows Piper meant the cat, but Percy wasn't the valedictorian for many reasons and one of them is his ability to act stupider than he really is, and people believing him. Piper blinks. He's still not sure why Piper McLean, Tristan McLean's daughter, is, well, in New Pine Creek. He's not entirely sure why he's in New Pine Creek, besides the job offer at the local elementary school. Piper hastens to correct him.
"No, my friend's cat likes to stay with me- why bother," she sighs. "My friend/roommate kinda dislikes you for some reason, at least I think so, and she didn't want you to know she lived here, but really why bother." His heart sinks just a bit- she doesn't like him? Why doesn't she like him? It's not because of the noise, is it?
"Look, if it's because of the noise I was making, I can be quieter. I am quieter. Your roommate's name is Annabeth, right?" he emphasizes Annabeth, and Piper McLean looks at him weirdly, but she nods and tells him more, Mango more or less forgotten.
"Yeah, Annabeth Chase. Um, I'm not really sure what it is, I'm not sure if she's all that sure what it is, but yeah. She's Annabeth." she mocks his words, and Percy's almost inclined to bristle, except that Piper means no offense, so it's not like he can do anything good by that.
"Uh…if you see her?" Piper nods. Percy mentally slaps himself- of course she's going to see her, she lives with Annabeth for crying out loud- "I'd kinda like to ask her out, but if she dislikes me, I'm not so sure it's a good idea-" Piper nods again, but she looks just a bit triumphant this time.
"So, uh, if you could ask her why she dislikes me and help me-"
"Say no more, Percy Jackson," Piper McLean grins. "besides," she adds, "it's not like you two…" she trails off, considering him and shaking her head. "But I'll help you. Bethie's lonely- up until like, two weeks ago, she lived with a fat cat in a cold and silent apartment. And now, she lives with me and a fat cat in a warm and very musical apartment. I like to think her life is much better with me around." She pauses. "Anyway, I think I should go look for Mango now, because Annabeth really is going to get mad at me…"
Piper looks like she's already been on the receiving end of Annabeth's anger and would not like for it to happen again. Percy steps back. "Of course. Uhh, good luck finding Mango?" She smiles at him and leaves after thanking him. Percy feels satisfied. Hopefully Piper's as smooth a talker as she appears to be with all those thefts the media had uncovered- but Piper doesn't seem as threatening as she was made out to be, and twice as compelling.
Percy decides his agenda for the day has been completed and is about to close his door when a flash of familiar honey-blond catches his eye as she hurries up the stairs. She's about to pass him when she notices his creepy self staring at her and scowls. "Like what you see?" There's nothing flirtatious when she says it, however.
Percy decides a bit of cheek might be the best way to solve the situation. "No, I was looking at the view." He motions at the door she now stands in front of. "Something got in the way." He realizes that may not have been the best thing to say to a girl that A., dislikes him, B., he likes, and C., he wants to go out with. She rolls her eyes.
"Whatever." She says something he thinks might be German and doubts is very kind to him under her breath. "Look, if you see a girl calling for 'Mango', tell her I want my cat back." She stalks away and Percy feels slightly bad.
"Wait!" She turns, and he does hope she has a pretty personality because he's less inclined to go out with Annabeth the longer they interact. "Guessing you mean Piper McLean?" Annabeth just looks puzzled at the emphasis on her roommate's name.
"Yeah, why?" Her voice is cautious, cornered like a cat's. "Also, what's so funny about her name, hmm?" Percy wonders how long Annabeth has lived in this small town, so as not to know that her roommate is the daughter of a famous movie star.
"She's the daughter of Tristan McLean, y'know," Percy says, pleased to have one-upped her knowledge. "the famous movie star." She seems like the smart type to him, Annabeth. The Annabeth in question looks surprised, but her shock just turns to acceptance, cool, calm, and collected. Her face melds into an uncaring mask, except for the slightest hint of…anger. She does seem scary when mad, he notes.
"Piper…has a lot of explaining to do." She walks briskly away, and he's pleased to note that a curl has come loose from her elegant hairdo and has gotten tangled in her earring. Maybe liking Annabeth Chase can be replaced for some sort of rivalry, he thinks. That would be interesting, and while Annabeth probably wouldn't like it, he's not Annabeth's boyfriend. He might never be, but maybe that's okay with him. When he met her, he didn't realize she acted like this when angry, and while he does hope she's not always so antagonistic towards everyone including him he doesn't need her not to be, right?
Again, I apologize for how long it's been, school has been trying to kill me. As always, thank you to ThatGirlWithaCat, and...your song for the chapter is Never Comes the Day, again by the Moody Blues.
