Chapter Three: Questions
After a forty-five minute drive, the car finally stopped at what seemed to be an old and abandoned warehouse. Caitlin and The Doctor got out of the car and were immediately greeted by two guards, and Lyla. The guards were dressed in all black. Each of them carried a gun.
Lyla, also dressed in black, looked at The Doctor and smiled. "Hello, Doctor? Caitlin mentioned that was your name."
The Doctor looked at the guards and at Lyla and said, "Don't point those at me."
Lyla looked at the guards. "It's okay, put them away." The guards obeyed. She invited The Doctor into the warehouse. "Let's have a chat."
The Doctor followed her, but started to feel dizzy again. Something wasn't right. But he didn't know what that was. Pushing through the feeling, he followed Lyla into the warehouse. Caitlin and the guards waited at the door, outside.
"Sit down, Doctor."
"No, I think I'd rather stand if it's all the same. Now where is my TARDIS?"
"The blue box?" Lyla asked. "What is that blue box? We are getting massive readings from it, but we can't seem to get it open. What is it?"
"It's none of your business. Please just give me back my ship."
"It's a ship?" Lyla asked. "Like, a spaceship?"
"Yes," The Doctor said. He started to get a headache. He placed his hand on one of his ears.
"Why can't we open it?"
"Please, if you have everything contained here with the gorilla and the shark, I would much like to just move on!"
"To where? Where are you headed?"
"That's not important, I just need my ship!"
"How do we know it's yours?" Lyla asked.
"I'll prove it. Take me to it, and I'll open it. You can see it. But you have to let me take my ship."
"Sounds reasonable," Lyla said.
The Doctor started walking back towards the door.
"Doctor?" Lyla looked at him, "Why do you keep covering your ear?"
The Doctor heard a loud noise like the one he heard before. He covered both of his ears and fell to the ground. After regaining his composure, he stood back up. Lyla, puzzled, followed him outside. Caitlin and the guards were waiting for them.
"We have to go, now!" The Doctor said, as they all went towards the car.
"We'll take my car," Lyla said. "Caitlin, thank you for bringing him."
The Doctor whispered, "What is this A.R.G.U S. all about?"
Caitlin looked at him and said, "I don't know much about them... no one does."
The Doctor laughed, "So it's Torchwood then."
Caitlin didn't understand the comment. But she said, "I'm headed back to S.T.A.R. Labs. That's where we were earlier. I guess A.R.G.U.S. is going to take it from here."
Lyla overheard them talking. She was standing further away, impatiently, but in earshot. "Doctor," she said, "we have to go."
The Doctor said farewell to Caitlin, and she drove off. The two guards, Lyla, and The Doctor got into Lyla's car. It was a long black limo that already had a driver waiting for them. A guard got into the passenger seat. The Doctor, Lyla, and the other guard sat in the back. It was very spacious. There was a bench that could seat maybe two or three people in the way back, and two benches that ran alongside each of the sides of the limo, that could seat three or four people each.
The Doctor sat by himself in the back, and Lyla and the guard each sat on their own bench.
"Doctor," Lyla said. "What are you?"
"That's not important," he said.
"It is to me," Lyla said.
The Doctor, choosing to be silent, looked away from Lyla. After a moment, he then looked back, and said, "I have seen many places. Been everywhere. Where exactly am I?"
"Currently?"
"Yes, of course currently!" The Doctor started hearing the ear-piercing noise again. It was getting louder. He put his hands on his head and screamed. "I don't even know WHEN I am, let alone where. Where have you brought me this time?!"
"Who are you talking to?" Lyla asked.
"No need to concern yourself with tha--AAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
Once the noise became unbearable for The Doctor, he immediately pulled out his sonic screwdriver.
The guard in the back with them drew his gun. Lyla put up her hand to stop him. The Doctor pointed the screwdriver towards the ceiling, and it lit up blue.
The noise disappeared. Lyla stared at him. "And what is that? Can I see that?"
The Doctor put the screwdriver back into his jacket pocket. "No."
After many more minutes of silence, The Doctor looked at Lyla and said, "Please, tell me about this A.R.G.U.S."
"First, Doctor, tell me something about you."
"Oh, fine. My name, is The Doctor. I'm a Timelord."
"Interesting. And what is a time lord?"
"Just get me to my TARDIS and I'll tell you more."
"Fair enough," she said. "A.R.G.U.S. stands for Advanced Research Group United Support."
"What do you research?" The Doctor asked. "You have my TARDIS. What else do you have? I do not take kindly to people taking what does not belong to them."
Lyla looked out the window and was silent.
Ten minutes went by with this silence. The car stopped
"Doctor, we're here."
