"Ra talk"

"Percy/Ra talk"

Chapter 7 Breaking things

I am going to go on record and say that I felt better then I had in long time. The power of Ra was something different for me to experience. Anyway back on the main topic after Bast ordered Carter to the library to grab his dad's magic kit, she and Sadie argued about Khufu and Philip.

"We have to search for them!" Sadie insisted.

"They'll be fine," said Bast. "However, we will not be, unless we leave now."

"She's right had you not let her free and I not used that power you would not be here." I said.

"See now let's go." Bast ordered,

"Um, excuse me, Miss Goddess Lady? Amos told us the house was—"

"Safe?" Bast snorted. "Carter, the defenses were too easily breached. Someone sabotaged them."

"She right someone is working against you." I said looking over the door frame the monsters broke through.

"I'm surprised you know this much." Bast said to me.

"I pick up on things quickly." I said.

"Had to have been another magician?" I said "One with a great knowledge of this house."

"Why would another magician want to sabotage Amos's house?" Carter asked.

"Carter," Bast sighed. "So young, so innocent. Magicians are devious creatures."

"Actually being a Magician has little to do with it." I stated. "It's just human nature. It's in ones' nature to do what it takes to get ahead."

"Are you a philosopher?" Sadie asked.

"No." I said. "But we are wasting time."

"Let's go." Bast ordered. She grabbed the kid's arms and led us out the front door. As soon as we stepped outside, the cold wind stung my eyes. We climbed down a long flight of metal stairs into the industrial yard that surrounded the factory. We were about halfway across the yard when an old gray tomcat stepped in our path. One of his ears was torn. His left eye was swollen shut. Judging from his scars, he'd spent most of his life fighting. Bast crouched and stared at the cat. He looked up at her calmly.

"Thank you," Bast said. The old tomcat trotted off toward the river.

"What was that about?" Sadie asked.

"One of my subjects, offering help. He'll spread the news about our predicament. Soon every cat in New York will be on alert."

"Oh great that's just what we need." I rolled my eyes.

"Hey you need all the help we can get."

"I'm sure he would agree with me." Bast said.

"Whatever." I said. Suddenly Bast tensed. She dragged the kids behind a stack of crates.

"What is it?" I whispered. She flexed her wrists and her knives slid into her hands. She peeped over the top of the crates, every muscle in her body trembling. I tried to see what she was looking at, but there was nothing except the old wrecking-ball crane. Bast's mouth twitched with excitement. Her eyes were fixed on the huge metal ball.

"This could be it." She shifted her weight. "Stay very very still."

"There's no one there," Sadie hissed.

"Attack." Ra ordered and somehow like she heard his order Bast lunged over the crates. She flew thirty feet through the air, knives flashing, and landed on the wrecking ball with such force that she broke the chain. The cat goddess and the huge metal sphere smashed into the dirt and went rolling across the yard.

"Rowww!" Bast wailed. The wrecking ball rolled straight over her, but she didn't appear hurt. She leaped off and pounced again. Her knives sliced through the metal like wet clay. Within seconds, the wrecking ball was reduced to a mound of scraps.

"Safe now!" Bast said as sheathed her blades. Me and the kids just looked at each other.

"You saved us from a metal ball," Sadie said.

"You never know," Bast said. "It could've been hostile." Just then a deep boom! shook the ground. I looked back at the mansion. Tendrils of blue fire curled from the top windows.

"Come on," Bast said. "Our time is up!"

"We need some wheels. Percy I demand you get us a car. And do it in a cool way. Like in that game you play when you were younger."

"You suck." I thought before running into the middle of the street. And of course the first car that came was a silver Lexus convertible. To this day the other wonder where I got a gun from but anyway I pulled it out on the driver and shouted "GET OUT OF THE FUCKING CAR! GET OUT OF THE FUCKING CAR RIGHT NOW, MAN!" To make my point clearer I shot his window.

"OH, Crap." The driver said.

"GET OUT OF THE FUCKING CAR! DO IT! GO! DO IT OR I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU! GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE FUCKING CAR!" I then pulled the driver out of the car and punched him twice in the face and then in the gut. And to finish it I pistol wiped him.

"I love you right now."

"Screw off." I thought.

"Oh, yes," she purred. "I like this one! Come along, children."

"But this isn't yours," Carter cried scared.

"Kid shut up after what I did to get it get in." I ordered taking shotgun.

"Bast," Sadie said, "you can't—"

"Get in." I ordered. Behind us four metallic guys with a large box were racing across the yard, coming straight for us at an unbelievable speed.

"Punch it." I ordered as I fired the gun. Bast hit the gas and tore through the streets of Brooklyn, weaving insanely through traffic, riding over sidewalks, narrowly missing pedestrians. but she got us safely onto the Williamsburg Bridge. I thought for sure we must've lost our pursuers, but when I looked back, the four copper men with the black box were weaving in and out of traffic. They appeared to be jogging at a normal pace, but they passed cars that were doing fifty. Their bodies blurred like choppy images in an old movie, as if they were out of sync with the regular stream of time.

"What are they?" Carter asked. "Shabti?"

"No, carriers." Bast glanced in the rearview mirror. "Summoned straight from the Duat. They'll stop at nothing to find their victims, throw them in the sedan—"

"The what?" Sadie interrupted.

"The large box," Bast said. "It's a kind of carriage. The carriers capture you, beat you senseless, throw you in, and carry you back to their master. They never lose their prey, and they never give up."

"Until now." I said standing up.

"Are you mad?" Sadie asked. I just smirked as Ra's armor formed on me. I then jumped out of the car and kicked one down. The other stopped and saw me as the target which cased it to tackle me. I rolled with it for a sec before getting to me feet and punched it across the face. It tried to punch me back but I ducked and punched it where it's kidneys should be. I followed that by grabbing a vacant car and smashed it on top of my attacker turning it to dust. The second round house kicked me which turned my attention to the other two still running after the other. I ran after the leader and tackled it blocking the second's pursuit. I then grabbed the first's leg and brought my fist down detaching the limb. I followed by kneeing it in the face.

I then quickly turned around and grabbed the second one's neck and broke it and chopped it down the middle. The third one grabbed my cowl and punched me in the gut. It them threw me back and kicked me in the face. I rolled for a bit before out of a sword appeared before me. I got to me feet and cut the thing's arm off, I then swung my sword around cutting it across the chest. It got madder after that so it ran at me, so I headbutted him in the face once it was down I plunged my weapon into it's should pinning it down. I then opened it's mouth and pulled it turning it to dust. I saw that there was the place was deserted but some crowd was coming along with cops. I pulled the weapon out and began to walked in the way the kids went and as I walked the spun my sword beheading the last one killing it.

"Well we need to get a move on."

"Any ideas?" I thought.

"One, we fly."

"Fly?"

"What Zeus can't blast you in this form."

"Okay so how we do this?" I asked.

"Just jump up." I did as he said and took off and as I did flames erupted from me forming a bird like shape.

"And like the might Phoenix we rise stronger then ever."

Okay this is cool." I thought. Once I landed the armor deactivated and with it my robes changed into a blue suit, a light blue shirt, a tie and ankle-high Converse shoes. Accompanied by a light brown Duster-type overcoat. "Well this is not quite my style but it will do." I said walking away. Just my luck I happen to find them at Central Park in front of a obelisk.

"What's going on here?"I asked.

"We are going to summons the other gods." Bast said.

"Bull shit." I said arms crossed.

"If we don't set will." Bast stated.

"Your mission failed now we must contain this but to do that we will need the help of others." I didn't like this but I felt that I had no choice. The woods rustled which cased Bast and me to take a fighting stance.

"Sadie, get to work," Bast ordered. "Carter, you're welcome to help us." The cat goddess unsheathed her knives. Her body began to glow with a green hue. before it took a new shape.

"This," Bast said, "is combat magic." Meanwhile Sadie stood in front of the obelisk with her arms raised, shouting:

"Open, you stupid piece of rock!" I rolled my eyes at this.

"Sadie, how's it coming?" Bast asked.

"It's not," Sadie complained. "Isn't there another way?" Before Bast could answer, the bushes rustled with a new sound—like rain, except more slithery.

"What is that?" I asked.

"No," Bast murmured. "It can't be. Not her." Then the bushes exploded. A thousand brown Scorpions poured from the woods.

"Sadie!" Bast called urgently.

"Nothing!" Sadie moaned. The scorpions kept coming—thousands upon thousands. Out of the woods a woman appeared, walking fearlessly through the middle of the arachnids. She wore brown robes with gold jewelry glinting around her neck and arms. Her long black hair was cut Ancient Egyptian–style with a live, supersize scorpion nesting on her head. Millions of the little bugs swirled around her like she was the center of their storm.

"Serqet," Bast growled.

"Well that's it, open the damn thing." I ordered Sadie.

"I can't." Sadie said fear in her voice.

"Carter, Sadie," Bast said, "Get to the museum. Find the temple. It may protect you."

"What temple?" Carter asked.

"Just go." I said forming the armor again getting a better feel of it.

"Oh what is this?" Serget asked looking me over. "Oh this is too delicious. The master and the pet." she added licking her lips.

"But you can call me the exterminator." Ra/I said since the kids were already gone.

"Heheheheh, Let us dance." Serget said/laughed.
