Chapter 10 Familiar faces return

OKAY, BEFORE I GET TO THE demon of my past, I should back up.

We cam't leave her." Carter whined making wish I was somewhere else.

"I can think of some places." Ra said as I heard club music playing in my head.

"Chaos give me strengrth." I groaned before throwing carter over my shoulder and picking Sadie up with my free arm.

"Run now talk later." I shouted running away. As I neared the obelisk I was reminded I was Percy Jackson and fates were cruel bitches. From the a decent distance from the obelisk, a portal opened and a bald magician in white robes stepped out of the whirling sand vortex.

"Oh shit." I said setting the kids down.

"Open the portal." I ordered pulling out Riptide. Cater pulled out his weapon and gave Sadie the staff he had.

"How I am suppose to know what to do?" she spat, searching the obelisk's base as if she hoped to find a secret switch. Baldy regained his composure after spotting us and of course made the same old stupid mistake.

"Stop!" He ordered.

"Has that ever worked?" I asked aloud.

"Only when you have the power to back that order up. You see first you have the power, then you get the respect, then you get girls in sexy harem clothes that make you-"

"Shut up." I spat.

"You said the other obelisk is in Paris, right?" Sadie turned to Carter.

"Uh yeah." he replied.

"Hurry." I groaned as not only my ADHD acted up but, the magician had raised his staff and started chanting. I looked to Carter who was scared and I knew why. This was far to new for him, let's face it the kid was warrior and he had little to no experience. But was I not different at one time. Had I not been a young boy how saw his mother disappear before him and killed that old bull by dump luck. Cater was alot like me in some ways and I knew I had to help these kids.

"Stay close to me and watch my back." I said placing a comforting hand on Carters' shoulder and stepping in front of him. From the distance I could hear baldy say.

"Serve the House of Life!" I knew that couldn't be good. From the heat formed small sphinxes the size of a Doberman and from the ground came something far worse.

"No." I gasped.

"Friend of yours?" Sure enough there he was, the Minotaur and when he saw me he swung a battle ax that destroyed several of the sphinxes.

"Sadie get that thing opened, Carter protect her and go for the legs, and above all else avoid the bull."

"Why?" Carter and Sadie asked scared of the sight of the charging monster.

"I gotta deal with a old friend." I said charging raising Riptide up into a battle pose. It continued to charge and I waited as he got closer.

"Any time now." The beast swung his ax at me once he was close enough and I dodged allowing myself to not only cut his swinging forearm, but one of his legs as well crippling him. I then grabbed it'd head and slammed it onto the ground and raised my sword up as the Minotaur knew what was coming. He held onto my arm trying to stop me. But I was now stronger then him, so I knocked his hand off my am and then rammed Riptide though his mouth and out the back of his head. There was blood first but he soon turned to dust.

"Metal." I rolled my as I check and saw Carter doing well to kill the stones hounds. Suddenly the ground shook as the sky darkened.

"Yes." Sadie shouted with joy as the obelisk glowed with purple light, humming with power.

"Time to go." I said made Sadie and Carter go through while I covered the.

"Allons-y." I said following in after.

"Me."

"Seriously?" I asked as we appeared in a huge public plaza. Rain pouring down as I savored the feel and power boost of being coated in water.

"I thought we were doing famous people. And who's more famous then Me?"

"Well let's see. Odin, Thor, Loki, Stan Lee, anyone in marvel-" I started.

"Okay...Note to us get marvel movie made about us once this is over."

"Your almost as bad as Apollo." I thought before I saw Sadie and carter in trouble as two of the sphinxes had came through. As I was about to use the rain to save them I heard a familiar voice say.

"Mange des muffins!" And then with a Slice! The sphinx dissolved into smoke.

The kids tried to get up but couldn't So I to them and used my power of water to heal any wounds they had

."Carter! Oh god, are you okay?" Sadie cried. I looked to see who had saved the kids and gazed at a tall, thin figure in a black, hooded raincoat.

"Come on partner think. Who do we know would shout 'Eat muffins?' as a battle cry?" The helper threw off her coat, and a woman in a leopard-skin acrobatic suit grinned down at me, showing off her fangs and her lamplike yellow eyes.

"Miss me master?" Bast asked.

"No, bad kitty." I said using the rain as a sub for a spray bottle. "You use a better war cry." We moved the kids under the eaves of a big white government building and watched the rain pour down on the Place de la Concorde. To some it would be a miserable day to be in Paris, but I enjoyed it. The weather was dark and wet with no tourists or traffic. This was one of my rare moments I got to relax and feel like my human half would. It was Rain not of Zeus so it was a little comforting as well as I didn't have to worry about getting struck by lightning. Trust me on another planet that happened three times in a row and I don't recommend it.

"So that explains the smokey parts in here."

"Shut up." I spat. I kept a eye on the obelisk, waiting for more enemies to pop out of it. Luckily none came. I did have a concern as why the bull was summoned as well. Egypt and Greek have never mixed before now. So why did he appear.

"Some one knows you well enough to risk using monster from them."

"Hate to but I think you maybe right." I thought. Someone knew enough about me to send the bull at me. But how?

"Hey don't think to hard. You slow done my internet."

"WHAT?!" I thought eyes widen making Bast look at me.

"Your mind is like a computer and I just use it to entertain myself."

"I hear, think or find anything dirty going on and your ass is toast. Oversized Chicken." I spat.

"Hey it's your mind after all."

"Any chance of them finding us here?" I asked Bast.

"Not likely, The House will assume you teleported somewhere else."

"Really?" I asked.

"Paris is the Fourteenth Nome—Desjardins' headquarters. You would be insane trying to hide in his home territory."

"Let him come i'll kill him first chance I get." I spat making a fist and making the tattoo sun disk glow.

"Really master there's no need for that." Bast said trying to calm me.

"What about the kids?" I asked.

"Their amulets shield them," Bast replied. "I could find Sadie anywhere because of my promise to protect her. But the amulets will keep them veiled from the eyes of Set and from other magicians."

"Okay." I exhaled. I was somewhat relieved to hear that. Carter attempted to sit up and winced in pain.

"Stay still," Bast ordered. "Really, Carter, you should learn to fall like a cat."

"Sure." He groaned before asking a question I had forgotten to ask. "How are you even alive? I mean do you have that nine lives thing?"

"Oh, that's just a silly legend." Bast smiled at us. "I'm immortal."

"Correction. She's just hard to kill." I stated.

"You're so mean master." Bast pouted.

"But still We only found Percy and you were-" Sadie started as she moved to Basts' side to pull her raincoat around her shoulders. I guess she was happy about that because Bast began to purr.

"Oh Sadie, you do care! Oh all the kids I've worked for of the pharaohs, you two—" bast giggled.

"They were dealt with. Sadly I had to abandon master. I'm sorry if I worried you. But I couldn't risk getting caught and besides you had master with you."

"What's with that master stuff anyway?" Sadie asked.

"Bast is the eye of Ra and his Daughter." Carter said.

"Since I house Ra-" I started.

"He's basically my master." Bast said.

"Just don't go calling me daddy." I finished.

"Oh you don't want me to?" Bast asked rubbing my tattooed hand.

"Careful there Percy." Ra said and I could hear a shotgun cocked.

"Shut up." I groaned.

"So tell me how long were you in the First Nome before they decided to kill you?" Bast asked changing the subject.

"About twenty-four hours." Sadie spoke.

"Heh I got less."

"My that is a surprise. They're known to blast godlings to dust in the first few minutes." Bast stated.

"What?" Sadie asked.

"Come know we already know I house a God. What makes you think you two don't." I replied.

"Well I" Sadie couldn't come up with an answer.

"Hosting a Gods makes the most sense why those idiots are after us." I added.

"How's it even possible to host a God?" She asked.

"Well his tat drew Ra to me and like a ghost he attached himself to me."

"Boo mother fucker."

"So my guess is you have a Gods' symbol on you to draw one to you."

"The amulets ." Carter shouted clutched the Eye of Horus around his neck. "But Dad said they would-."

"Obviously they had another function " Sadie countered.

"Figures." I rolled my eyes.

" They're like an invitation." Bast said.

"Of course I wouldn't be in this situation had you not bite me." I growled making Bast pout.

"Come on you know you love me."

"Ever since then incident at the museum i've had this feeling. Like a voice inside me..."

"A voice that sounds like a pain in the ass annoying you all the time."

"I'll remember that." .

"Not really." Carter replied.

"Okay so who's hosting who?" I asked.

"Well my amulet is the symbol of Horus." Carter said.

"Mines a knot." Sadie said.

"That is a tyet," Bast stated. "A magic knot. Also known as the Knot of Isis."

"So we got Horus and Isis?" I asked. "Great."

"Alright men we go to war." Ra said and I could swear I heard soldiers marching.

"No, no, no. Somebody get a can opener. I've got a god stuck in my head." Carter cried after finally talking to Horus.

"Trust me it won't work." I said calming him down by placing my hand onto his head.

"My that's excellent progress!" Bast grinned. "You can talk to Horus now."

"Progress?" Carter spat about to banged his head on something hard had I not stopped him. "Get him out!"

"Is this how I am when I talk to the other guy." I asked.

"Yes." Sadie replied.

"Don't tell me to calm down!" Carter spat.

"Okay how about shut." I said.

"Oh no I wan't talking to you." Carter countered.

"How do I get rid of her?" Sadie asked. Bast sniffed at that question.

"First off, you three, you don't have all of them. Gods are very powerful. We can exist in many places at once. But yes, part of Isis's spirit now resides inside of you Sadie. Just as Carter now carries the spirit of Horus. And Percy houses the spirit of Ra. Also you three should feel honored."

"Note to Percy buy Bast a galleon of milk later."

"Suck up." I said making everyone look at me.

"Oh yeah this is such a great..." Carter started before hea and Sadie looked at me with wide eyes

"Did she say Ra?!" I swear I could hear four voices asking that question.

"Indeed. I could've swore you already knew." I replied.

"Time makes people forget certain things. Like uncle charlie and his van."

"I don't have a uncle charlie." I thought.

"Really? How'd that come up then?"

"Don't ask me. you're the one going loco."

"Testicle attack number 49."

"Son of a bitch." I groaned falling down to my knees and grabbing my nuts." Bast had a wicked smirk on her face as she looked at me.

"I see the two of you have progressed farther then most have ever have. It won't be long before the two of you become one."

"What?" Sadie asked ripping the amulet off her neck and threw it down. "Isis is not going to subjugate me."

"I really wouldn't do that," Bast warned. Sadie pulled out her wand and smashed the amulet. Well that worked as well as one could expect.

"Fuck!" she cried feeling a great pain backlash.

"I told you."Bast sighed healing the burn marks. "Isis only channels her power through the amulet. She's in you. Besides the amulets are practically indestructible."

"So what are we supposed to do?" Sadie demanded.

"Well, with Percy/Ra at the lead the three of you will defeat Set."

"Just like old times." I sighed.

"Don't worry i'll help you as much as I can," Bast promised, "but in the end, the final fight will come down to Ra, Horus, and Isis to defeat Set."

"Then we get our dad back?" Carter asked.

"After I get done with him." I promised. This made the kids unsure, but put that aside as carter asked a question I also was wondering.

"If I've got the powers of a god, then why am I so..."

"Lame?" Sadie offered.

"Correct circle gets the square."

"Shut up," Carter spat. "Why can't I use my powers better?"

"Takes practice," Bast replied. "Unless you wish to give over control to Horus."

"NO!" I spat. That's a last action of a desperate fool. Agreed?"

"Agreed." Carter and Sadie said.

"Now then any idea where we should start the next part of our quest?" I asked.

"Where's the oracle when you need one?" I pushed the thought aside as I didn't want to admit I wish Rachel was here.

"Desjardins," Sadie said. This got both Bast and my attention.

"Desjardins was in London that night," Bast stated. "And in many ways he would be the perfect host for Set."

"Another reason for me to kill him." I spat.

"If Set possess Desjardins' body, then the Red Lord now controls the Chief Lector of the House." Bast added.

"I knew I should've end him. But no you two had to make me let go." I growled.

"Sorry we didn't know at the time." Sadie countered attitude dripping in her words.

"So we have our target and we know that we must beat him in three days. Or on his birthday he will be stronger then ever."

"Noted." I thought.

"Let's get down to business, to defeat that Set. Did they-"

"Start singing and you'll regret it." I thought sucker punching Ra in the nuts.
