Chapter 11: Oh Shit

As my companions conversed with each other my mind was drawn to the Mineator that attacked us in the desert. For while the old Lector was Greek he didn't strike me as the one who would send that monster after us. SO reaching into my pocket I pulled out a drachma and manipulated the rain to make a rainbow. Tossing it in I contacted one of the only people I could trust to find out without running to the Olympians.

"Hello?" Nico Di Angelo asked appearing before me

"Hey, there death boy how's life treating you?" I asked before seeing life come to his eyes.

"Percy?! oh my Gods where are you? Are you okay? Where have you been?" He asked sounding like a child of Hermies of a sugar rush.

"Easy there Nico, now I can't tell you as I am on a secret mission. but I need your help." I stated.

"Oh course anything." He said clearly happy to know I needed him.

"I need you to look into someone summoning Greek monsters outside of the usual areas."

"Can you explain please?"

"I'm currently overseas and the monster I first fought back when I was twelve showed up."

"Strange," Nico deep in thought. "Monster usually stay closer to the Gods area with exceptions to the nations connected to America, or the seas, or where the gods once were."

"Trust me there was no reason for the bull to be there beside me being there."

"Okay, I'll look into though I might need some help. I'll talk to Annabeth and tell her you-"

"No." I barked. "If you must ask for help then please leave me out. I know Annabeth and she'll rush down and try to save me. But this is something I have to do myself. So please don't tell her about me. I'll see her again on our own terms."

"Okay Percy I understand. I'll contact you once I learn something." He replied. "Just promise me you'll come back to us safely. We all really miss you and I don't want to find my best friend's soul in the underworld before his time."

"Don't worry death boy, I'll be fine." I smiled before releasing the rain to end the call.

"Wanna talk about it?"

"No." I said returning to the Kanes. As the rain kept pouring down I took notice that the kids were shivering. I saw Sadie wiping a tear from her cheek. Making me wonder what they had talked about to make her cry while she picked up her amulet and glared at it resentfully.

"We've got to save Dad. If he's really got the spirit of Osiris..."

"Is that possible?" Carter asked Horus, but clearly got no answer.

"It is with me."

"In all my journeys I've learned nothing is truly impossible." I said trying to reassure the kids.

"All right," Carter replied. "So how do we stop Set?" Bast thought for a moment, then smiled. My Percy sense was tingling which meant the this was not going to be good. Annabeth said that I was the reverse spiderman when it came to that. Funny how a girl who hates spiders secretly loves a comic about a guy she claims could be a son of Athena.

"This new lazy boy is great. It even vibrates...Thaaat feeeels Goooooood."

"Shut up." I said not bothering to wonder how anymore.

"There might be a way without completely giving yourself over to the gods. There's a book by Thoth." Bast stated.

"Which may hold the way to bet the big bad, but it's hidden somewhere that's considered impossible to get to." I countered knowing ow this goes.

"Okay boys let's do this." I swear I heard a whip crack and the Indiana Jones theme playing in my head.

"Cut it out." I thought.

"Kill joy. You know you wanna be Indy."

"I'll admit to only wanting to wear the hat." I countered.

"Indeed, it is the prized possession of a certain magician. So all we need to do is sneak into his fortress, steal it, and leave before sunset, while we can still create a portal to the United States." Bast told us.

"Son of a bitch." I said in a bored tone as I clearly just done with today.

"Perfect." Sadie added clearly feeling the same way.

"Which magician? And where's the fortress?" Carter asked. Bast stared at Carter and then at Sadie before looking at me as if to ask if Carter was serious.

"Desjardins and house his right here in Paris." She told him.

"Oh, his is gonna be good. Muhahahaha."

"Oh boy." I thought. Once I saw Desjardins' house, I excepted what Ra had in mind. This was a huge mansion on the other side of the Tuileries, on the rue des Pyramides.

"Wow this place screams compensating." Sadie stated.

"Well some people feel like if they have fancy things people will look past their deal." I stated.

"Horus." Ra coughed. The house was spectacular. The spikes atop its wrought iron fence were gilded. The front garden was bursting with flowers. Five stories of white marble walls and black-shuttered windows and a roof garden to cap it off. As we walked to the door Carter had to point out the Red door.

"Isn't red a bad color in Egypt? The color of Set?" He asked.

"Sure glad I like Blue right now." I countered.

"How about gold?"

"Why?" I thought/asked.

"Why not. It's beautiful, shiny, and the color of...Money." Ra said as I heard several coins fall in my head.

"Shut up." I thought.

"What i'm making rain in this bitch."

"Okay note to self get the book to get him out of my head now number three on my list of important things to do."

"Now gonna happen."

"Zip it." I roared/thought.

"This is as far as I can go." Bast told us as we got closer. The house has wards to keep Gods out. I can not cross the threshold uninvited. You, however—"

"Aren't we gods too?" Sadie asked.

"No child your hosts, you are still quite human. I have taken full possession of Muffin, so I am pretty much me—a goddess. But you are still—well, yourselves. Clear?"

"Sure is." I understood while Ra was a part of me, we were still two separate people in one body. Bast was one spirit in one body.

"No," Carter said.

"Anyway I suggest you turn into birds," Bast replied.

"Really?" I asked sarcastically not liking that idea. I mean sure some times that sounded cool. But I am a son of Poseidon I am meant to stay on the ground or swim in water.

"You can fly to the roof garden and make your way in. Plus, I like birds."

"Wonder why." I rolled my eyes.

"Noted, get Bast a nice bird when this is over."

"You know she'll just eat it right?"

"Five rubies the size of potatoes say otherwise."

"Deal." I chuckled.

"Whatever it's your money anyway." Ra laughed.

"Jackass." I thought, realizing I was tricked.

"We don't know how to turn into birds." Carter pointed out.

"I'll just fly us up there." I said donning my god armor.

"No." Bast said putting her foot down. This is their first test at channeling godly power. Isis, Horus, and Ra have bird forms."

"Fine." I conceded knowing that tone. It was the Percy we are doing it this way tone. Annabeth had the same when we were on a quest and she knew we had to do something a certain way. Had to admit that tone had saved my life before so why not try now."

"What?" Both Carter and Sadie asked me in sync.

"Are you crazy Percy?" Carter asked.

"It would be better and faster for you to fly us there." Sadie added. I then gave them a look that I had developed in my travels. The shut up and do it look or my version of the batglare. They shut up and turned to face Bast.

"Good, now simply imagine yourselves as birds, and birds you shall become." She smiled.

"What no think of a happy thought?" I thought to myself.

"Think of a wonderful thought. Any happy little thought." Ra sang.

"No singing." I roared/replied to the god in my head.

"That's it?" Sadie said. "You won't pounce on us?" Bast looked offended.

"Perish the thought! I like you and master like this better. I mean I bet you two would be cute as little birds i'd-"

"Got it." I said trying to picture a bird for myself. My mind thought of a beautiful bird with large wings, long tail feathers and red coloring that had yellow on it's torso, face and on its wingtips. Thus I felt like I was set on fire which hurt like Tartarus and then like magic I was that Pheonix. Beside me was a falcon that was clearly Carter and a bird Ra called a Kite that had to be Sadie.

"Well now." Bast smiled. "Been a long time since I saw one of you." She finished petting my head. The other two also seamed amazed, as Sadie for some reason brushing up against me.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

"Don't blame me blame this bird body." Sadie stopped looking like she wanted to blush.

"Even as a bird we are sexy. We are sexy bitches."

"Okay this is re-godsdamn-diculous." I said before letting instincts take over and flew off."Okay, this isn't as hard as I thought." I flew in cirles as I watched the two follow and Carter as a falcon aka lord of the sky flew straight into the fence. I had to suppress a laugh though Ra was going at it hard in my head. Getting back up Cater followed me with Sadie right behind. Breaking through some illusions, I landed on a table with Carter and Sadie right behind me which happened to be in the library.

"Not bad for a first flight." I had to agree as I thought about changing back and in a flaming flash, I was myself again. Carter was able to change back easily, but Sadie not so much.

"Carter help your sister. I'm gonna look around." The boy accepted this as I roamed the library and I gotta say this was one I knew Annabeth would love. Floor-to-ceiling bookcases with books overflowed onto the floor. Old furniture that had books and a big easy chair by the window.

"You know I almost feel bad about robbing him."

"Then I thought who gives a crap?" We said as Ra worked his magic. I had Carter lock the solid wooden door behind me. He wondered why I was leaving them behind so I told him to make sure we could leave safely. Yeah, that was a lie. You see after what they did and the whole trying to kill us, Ra had one goal in mind to rob this guy of everything important. I gotta say this was quite easy as the only security was mostly magic and with my olympian/chaos magic the walked right through.

From his secret library to his wine cellar to playboys we cleaned house. I heard some people talking in french in some other rooms but they were of no issue as I had swept through all rooms with speed that would make the flash say wow he's fast. It was then I heard an alarm go off and french voices shouting as they ran upstairs. I had to wonder if they realized they were robbed yet. I walked out the front door holding a fancy noticing Bast and Sadie watching the sky. I walked up behind them and then opened my hand and fire erupted from them making a golden bow with fire as the string.

Pulling the string back, the girls noticed energy forming around me just before I let go. The bow fired a blast of fire that separated into thousands of fire arrows. In a matter of seconds, the ground was littered with approximately four thousand fruit bats which then burst into flames and died.

"That was fun, but this will be funnier." I snapped my fingers and the mansion burst into flames. The trio was dumbstruck as I shook my head.

"What happened?" I asked not knowing how we got outside. Sadie just pointed to the burning mansion and all I could say was "Oh shit."
