There were times that Marinette had no inspiration to draw. Yes the times were far and few but nonetheless they happened. At times like that, Marinette found it comfortable to walk to the park. People always roamed around, she could impact their attire, it's style and color scheme and most often had an idea rushed to her head. Today was no expectation. There were many children running after each other, shrieking joyfully and their parents were chatting idly or chasing their young ones in an attempt to get them back home in time for nap time.
A little girl in a spotted dress ran in front of her, chased by a little boy clad in a Chat Noir hoodie. Marinette gave a slight giggle. It was adorable to see young kids adoring her as a role model and feeling like they can do anything despite what others told them. There were times that she and Chat Noir would go to visit young childs and the sheer amount of little girls that told her they wanted to do something big because she gave them the confidence almost made her heart blow up. And oh goodness the amount of girls her age that choose powerful male dominated career paths? That shocked her in the best way possible.
"Well, well, well." Called a familiar voice from her right. "I do like your hoodie kid, if I do say so meow self."
Marinette lifted her head and spotted none other than Chat Noir holding the little girl on his hip and smirking widely at her before flickering his eyes back to the young boy in front of him.
"I want up!" He cried with his arms out wide, pouting up at the superhero.
Chat Noir clicked his tongue. "Let's see, I'm going to have to set down Marie here…" He trailed off and unsurprisingly, his candy apple green eyes locked onto Marinette as if to say, you...come...now. She sighed, however smiling, put her notebook away in her purse and walked over to him.
Marie looked at her in awe when she was finally settled into her arms. "I like your hair." She giggled, pulling slightly on Marinette's pigtails. The Parian-Chinese melted. For the record, she had always adorable kids but Marie was so cute and had such a kid giggle, she instantly felt the need to become a mother before she even finished high school.
"Awe, I think she likes you." Chat cooed as Marie curled up onto Marinette.
"I guess so." Marinette replied, smiling warmly. "So what brings you out here?" Marinette then asked Chat Noir.
She knew he liked to venture out more than she did in costume. Obviously by the amount of times, he'd come over. There were times Marinette would be at home but see a picture of Chat Noir having a dance party with a couple young kids just to brighten their day. In the beginning, she had almost thought of telling him to stop, but opted against it. There was no harm being done. The kid's loved it, he loved it, it was fine. "Eh, bored at home." The black-cat themed superhero said with a shrug.
Marinette laughed just the slightest bit. "I'm not surprised." She commented.
"I didn't think you would be."
"Wow, you know me so well."
"I do! Don't I?"
"Sure."
"Am I also right in saying you love me?"
"Okay now you're pushing."
"Me-ouch!" Chat Noir cried, stepping back and looking mockley offended. The kids in their arms decided that this was one of the funniest things they had ever seen and burst into laughter. "You didn't have to shut me down that hard." Chat Noir said with a smile. Marinette shook her head, rolled her eyes but smiled anyways. "Anything new happened that you neglected to tell me was happening?" The cat in black teased.
Marinette pretended to think long and hard. "Hm… well here actually is something." She admitted after a minute.
The blonde raised his eyebrows. "And you didn't tell me?" He said in a dramatizing sad way.
Marinette rolled her eyes and smiled. "I'm telling you now right?" She shot back with sass.
"Fair enough." Chat Noir admitted. Marinette smugly smiled before telling Chat Noir about a school dancing coming up soon and how she was planning on making her dress. "I have no doubt that you can do it and make it look awesome." He said seriously.
Marinette's face went a little pink. "Hopefully. And thanks." She said shyly.
Chat Noir tilted his head to the left side. "You're not very good at accepting compliments are you?" He asked. Marinette had no response to that. She bit her lip in trying to think of one but ended up just nodded. "Not surprised." The blonde said smoothly.
Another thing occurred that wasn't necessarily unexpected. Marie's and the little boy's mothers had come to take them home. The little boy was named Victor as it turned out. The mothers thanked her for holding Marie and entertaining her before picking up their kids and heading home to settle them for a nap. Not without a picture with the infamous Chat Noir though. After the kids left Marinette and Chat Noir decided to take a little stroll. "We'd make pretty good babysitters if I do say so myself." Chat said smugly. Marinette did agree with him.
"I guess so. I mean, Victor certiently liked you and Marie was a darling." Marinete said, thinking about the Chat Noir hoodie Victor worse.
"We could totally babysit them for a day." Chat said enthusiastically. Marinette raised an eyebrow.
"Parenting two kids with you for a full day? Why does that sound like a disaster just waiting to happen." Marinette teased. Chat Noir put his hands, claws? Up in surrender.
"Just saying, we'd be great parents together." Chat Noir said with a cheeky smile. Marinette rolled her eyes and swatted Chat Noir's side.
"Don't say it like that." She teasingly scolded.
Chat sent her a not at all sorry smile before he again was stopped by a group of kids that wanted an autograph and some light conversation. Marinette waved him to do so and decided to keep her distance as the group got louder and louder.
Spotting a delicate and beautiful flower, Marinette walked over to it and pulled out her sketchbook. Though she mostly drew fashion and clothing, Marinette made sure to do some classic drawing too, those of animals and landscaping. They were far and few but she enjoyed drawing realistic flowers and animals. It took long spans of time but they were enjoyable spans of time. Marinette cursed herself for not packing headphones for the first time in forever but despite that she began to sketch out the outline of the flower.
She was almost done with shading the first petal. Shading was possibly one of her favorite skills. The pencil stains on her finger were annoying though. Hm, one little scratch here, then blend it out, one here...
Marinette jerked up and gasped when she felt something make its way around her waist. She nearly drew a solid line across the entire page as a reaction. "Oh my god." She cried when she turned around to spot a grinning Chat Noir. Marinette reached a hand over to swat the top of his head, though it was mostly hair so no harm down. Chat Noir only laughed and Marinette huffed and turned back to the flower. "I was doing something." She said irritably but fighting a smile. Chat Noir laughed again and rested his head onto her shoulder, burying his face in her hair that for the record was now down thanks to Marie.
Mmm...you smell like sugar." He said in almost a dazed voice.
Marinette looked at the boy in confusion. It was about now that she realized he was hugging her tight in public. Her face burned red hot and somehow even more when Chat Noir adjusted his hold and squeezed her tighter towards him.
"Your blankets smell like sugar too." He said, though his voice was muffled by her hair.
"Should I be mildly discomforted by the fact you know how my blankets smell." Marinette said, trying to calm down the red on her face before he would see it.
"You live in a bakery. It makes sense." Chat Noir defended himself. Marinette laughed a bit. "I like it though." Chat admitted after a minute.
Oh and there was the blush again. "You like my entire house then." She pointed out. Chat Noir shook his head a bit, his hair tickling the skin on her neck.
"No, it's just you and your room. The rest of your house smells like butter, not that it's bad or anything. But you smell like sugar." He explained. Marinette looked at him wide eyed and silently nodded okay because what else was she supposed to say.
Marinette decided that she was way too comfortable being hugged so closely to Chat Noir and fought the urge to completely melt into him. But despite the internal conflict, she didn't move from his arms and decided to ignore the fact that they were in public. And anyone that could possibly take a picture. Which unbeknownst to her, someone did.
