Prologue - It doesn't hurt me

AUTHOR NOTE:

Welcome to my story "It's not your fault" I'm excited to have you here!

Summary: Kensi rejects Deeks and he resigns from NCIS. 2 months after leaving NCIS he is kidnapped. The kidnappers are about to kill him, he asks to write one letter that can be easily anonymously posted, what does this mean for Kensi and Deeks when things don't end the way Deeks thought they would?

Set after Sidorov but the trauma isn't fresh.

DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN NCIS LA OR ANY OF THE SONGS USED

You know our love would be tragic

So you don't pay it, don't pay it no mind

Deeks POV

It was just another day; Kensi and Deeks, Deeks and Kensi, taking down bad guys when everything changes. "Kensi! NO!" I yell as I see her fall to the ground. We were just storming a warehouse; we didn't expect it to be too dangerous but I saw the shots fired in her direction and I saw her fall.

I run over to her; her eyes are closed and she's not moving and I'm hoping that this is all a nightmare; maybe I was knocked out by that punch earlier? But it's not and I feel tears fall from my eyes "No Kens, I love you." She starts violently coughing "Oh, Fern," I sigh "you had me worried there for a minute."

"The vest caught them, idiot!" She says as she punches me in the shoulder. I don't think she heard what I said, I stand up and hold out my hand but she ignores it; ok maybe she did hear me. "Go away, Deeks." She growls "Oh come on Kensalina, you don't mean that."

She picks up her gun and my heart stops "Leave Deeks." I am about to protest when I hear Sam and Callen come up behind me, not keen for them to see me cry I walk away, brushing Sam's shoulder as I go.

Would you rescue me while I'm by myself?

When I need your love, if I need your help

Would you rescue me?

AUTHOR NOTE:

I get that this is quite short but this is just the prologue, the chapters to come are much longer.

The chapter title (It doesn't hurt me) references the Placebo cover of the Kate Bush song "Running Up That Hill", which has been used in NCIS LA before.

I am fully aware that "Earned It" by Bootstraps is a cover of The Weekend song but I felt that the Bootstraps version related better to the story.

When I first started thinking about this story there were quite a few songs that came into my head, my two main inspirations throughout this story are "Carry You" by Ruelle and "To Build a Home" by Cinematic Orchestra and Patrick Watson, but when I thought of more upbeat songs "Rescue Me" by One Republic really stood out to me (along with a few other One Republic and non-One Republic songs) so I thought I'd include it in the prologue!

I know you've heard it before but please review and follow!
