The following week Juane was finally transferred out of intensive care as his injuries started healing properly since he stopped having tantrums. He was put on new medications and treatments that really seemed to do nothing but still he gave them credit for trying. On one day when he was feeling good enough he made a video call to his sister Saffron.

{Hello?} she said looking into the camera

{Hey saph} he says looking at her doing the best he could to sit up without pain. He convinced the doctors to let him wear his hoodie so he was a little more comfortable now.

{Jaune!} he hears her yell loudly {I was so afraid you died!} she says looking like she could cry

{Hey you should have more faith in me I am pretty tough nowadays} he says smiling even though his back erupted into a burning pain.

{Mom will be so happy to hear you're alive!} she says smiling {haven't you called her yet?} she asks.

{No I haven't gotten the chance yet. } he says lying to her… he hasn't had the bravery to face her yet.

{Wow what a great son. Make sure to call her soon.}

{I will, how are you and Terra and little Adrian?} he asks

{Well Terra is super busy helping put everything back together, and Adrian is okay, he is actually taking a nap right now.} she says with a smile {Oh by the way where are you right now I would like to see you again!} she says. At her words Jaune panics a little and knows he doesn't want his family to see him like this.

{I'm in atlas at the moment.} he says truthfully {helping to rebuild everything.} he says lying to her.

{Okay then maybe me and Ardien will come up and see you soon then!} she says in a sing-song voice.

{N-no don't do that. Its real busy here and it could be dangerous to get here.} he says

{No it's not, just announced last week that international travel is safe and allowed to help families find each other.} she says looking at him suspiciously.

{just don't come here okay? I want to keep you guys safe.} says trying to get her to drop the subject.

{Jaune what's going on?} she says now looking concerned.

{Nothing.} he says starting to get annoyed

{Jaune tells me.} she says more sternly

{It's none of your business}He says getting angry

{Yes it is, I'm your big sister!} she says also getting angry

{LET IT GO!} he finally yells

{...} Saphron just looks at him with an upset face

{please.} he says, feeling his heart break as he looks at her, she is his big sister and he loves her dearly but he just lied to her and then yelled at her.

{I can't} she says {Jaune please tell me where you are.}

{Jaune.}

{You can't tell mom or dad, or anyone.}

{I don't like the sound of that.}

{Saph, you can't tell anyone okay?}

{Why?}

{Just trust me please}

{Fine, I won't tell anyone. But no more lies I want the truth!}

{Okay,}

{let's start with where you actually are.}

{I really am in atlas… but I'm not helping to rebuild.} he starts.

{Okay, that's a good start. Continue.}

{Saph… I'm in a hospital} he says quietly

{Oh my gods… what happened?} she asks her voice full of worry

{A lot, I was a part of the assault on Salem's castle… I was caught off guard and took a few direct hits. It wouldn't have been a real problem if I hadn't broken my arua earlier.} he says, feeling ashamed.

{How bad is it?} she asks quietly. Jaune takes the camera and unfocuses it from his face; he then uncovers his leg and shows her the extent of his damage.

{The doctors had to take my leg, they also had to remove muscle from the other one. And their is major damage to my back.} he explains

{Does it hurt?}

{Of course it does.} he says rather coldly {I'm sorry, it's just I'm in constant pain and the doctors are still finding a way to stop it. They said I might not ever be able to walk again.} he says

{Jaune mom and dad have to know about this.} Saphron says

{No, do not tell them. I will get better and then I will go see them.} he quickly says

{Jaune… at least let me come and see you.}

{... your really shouldn't}

{Jaune Arc. I am your big sister, it is my duty to take care of you.} she says

{Fine… you can come and visit me. But don't bring Adrien to the hospital. I don't want him to see what happened to me.}

{Okay.} she says, still looking upset.{I'll be there within the week.}

In the background they hear a small voice and it is evident Adrien has woken up.

{I have to go now. But I will be there soon okay?} she says

{Yeah, latter sis.} and with that she hangs up.

After that Jaune sits back in his bed and tries to fall asleep again but he knows he won't be able to.

"Are you okay?" he hears a lovely voice ask

"I'm doing as well as I can, Weiss." he said looking at said girl in the doorway.

" I didn't try to eavesdrop but I heard your conversation with your sister. I'm sorry." she says

"It's fine. This is a hospital there isn't much privacy here anyways." he says "Why don't you sit down." he says pointing to a chair next to his bed. Weiss walks over and sits next to him.

"Your sister Saphron right? The one with the cute baby." she says smiling

"Yeah, Adrien is a cute kid. I hoped someday I would have a kid like him." he says

"Well it's still not too late to find someone." she says "and now that the world is less dangerous, it would be a perfect time to start a family." she continues Jaune just huffs

"I doubt anyone is really looking for a husband who can't walk and has temper tantrums like a three-year-old." he says

"Don't worry, I'm sure there is someone who could tolerate you," she says with a smile, Jaune smiles and starts to laugh for the first time in a while.

"I could say the same about you." he says as now they both start to laugh together… and for the first time Jaune doesn't feel any pain, just happiness.

Three days later Saphron visits. Jaune was sitting up in his room currently playing a game of chess with Weiss while he let the doctors poke and prod him, he was in a relatively good mood but still the pain was always present.

"Jaune?" he hears his sister say.

"Saph?" He responded by turning to look at her, but unfortunately he turned a little too fast and far and was instantly flooded with blinding pain as he yelled out. He fell back into his bed while the attending doctor quickly grabbed a syringe of something and pierced his skin with it returning him to a more stable condition so he could fix the brace on Jaune's back.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!" she cries out covering her mouth.

"Saphron." Weiss said. Walking over to her, She like Jaune's sister, was worried for Jaune she just did a better job at concealing it.

"Weiss!" she says looking worried as Weiss gently pushes the older girl along and out of the room.

"It's okay," Weiss says trying to calm Saphron "this happens sometimes when Jaune moves too quickly.

"Will he be okay?" she asks

"He will be okay. But when this happens he is usually asleep for the next hour or so."

"For an hour?"

"Yes, why don't you come with me and we can go get some coffee or something while we wait for him to wake up. Usually the doctor comes and tells us when he is doing better."

"Okay, that would be nice… thank you."

"It's fine." Both girls go down to the hospital cafeteria and get some coffee while they wait for Jaune to wake up.

"How is he doing?" Saphron asks, suddenly startling Weiss out of the silence.

"Oh, he is doing better than he was for a while. When he came here they put him into a drug induced coma so they could work on him without him constantly waking up. He had a lot of stuff that needed to be done and he kept waking up disrupting their work and unding things. So they put him under and worked on him, and started treatments on him. Then about two weeks ago he woke up." Weiss explains.

"I see."

"How is your family, are they okay?" Weiss then asks.

"My wife is very busy with rebuilding our home town and Adrien is with her parents so I could come here. But we are all well. How is your family." Saphron says then regrets saying it. "I'm sorry I-"

"It's fine, my father is in prison serving 50 years for his crimes, I'm not sure what my sister is doing as we are no longer on speaking terms but I assume she is still in the military and I know she survived the battle here. My brother left and gave me control of the S.D.C, and my mother is only god knows where." She says looking rather sad.

"I'm sorry." Saphron says.

"It's okay. I have my work to distract me, and I come here as much as I can to visit Jaune." she says.

"What about your teams?" she asked. Weiss just shook her head.

"It seems it's just me and Jaune now." she says, trying not to cry.

After a while a nurse comes and tells them Jaune is awake again and is prepared to have visitors. And Weiss says she will visit later giving Saphron the opportunity to visit her brother alone. Saphron goes in and meets Jaune and begins to fawn all over him. And he shows her the extent of his injuries and she has a hard time looking at them.

"You know. When you're discharged from the hospital you could come and live with me and Terra. Well of course I should talk it over with her first." Saphron said, sitting next to him.

"I appreciate the offer but. I would only be a burden."

"No you wouldn't ."

"Saph there is nothing I could really even do to help you at all. I can't walk and I'll be lucky if I even get out of this bed." he says, feeling more ashamed of himself by the minute.

"I said it is my job to as your big sister to take care of you," she says, taking a hold of his hand. "Just think about it okay? When I get back home I will talk about it with Terra and then we can see if it would be possible okay?"

"... Thank you Saph." he says squeezing her hand lightly. After that she just spent time with him and he enjoyed it as much as he could. They spent about an hour together until Saphron had to leave. She had planned on staying in Atlas for longer but Adrien was apparently sick and she needed to talk to Terra about her Idea with Jaune. She was going back to Argus that night and her flight was in about an hour. Jaune wished her well and then separated with her promising to visit again soon.

For the next few days he stays in the hospital as the doctors try and treat his new found excruciating pain in his back and remaining leg. Even if he was in a horrid situation he had to put on a smile and force himself to be strong… that's what Pyrrha would have done. One day while he was undergoing treatments another doctor came in.

"Mr, Arc. I have another patient here and I was wondering if we could put him in here with you. I believe you two already know each other. Jaune nodds not saying a word as he felt if he opend his mouth at the moment he would say somthing stupid or offencive (he had major discomfort as they pushed a long neddle into his spine to extract some fluid.) the person they wheeled in was honestly not a person Jaune was expecting.

"Hey there kid." Qrow says with a grunt.

"Qrow?" Jaune asks, completely surprised.

"Yeah it's me, I'm still alive. Barely." he says with a chuckle before clenching his teeth, it would seem he was also in a great deal of pain.

"I was under the impression you had already been discharged." Jaune says with a smile happy to see an old friend. Not that Weiss wasn't pleasant company or anything.

"I was, but apparently they didn't catch some of my internal damage, and over time it just got worse and now I'm back here." he says he honestly looks drained and much older than he used to. He has an eye patch over his left eye as it was now missing.

"Internal damage huh?" Jaune says looking at him.

"Yeah… I heard about your leg, I'm sorry I couldn't stop Tyrian in time." he says looking apologetic.

"I would say it's fine… but this… this sucks." Jaune said looking down at his leg. "I wasn't supposed to lose my leg."

"I wasn't supposed to lose an eye, what are you talking about kid." Qrow says gruffly.

"I should have just died." he says

"Do you really think that?" Qrow asks looking upset

"Yes, as I am now I am useless. I wish Tyrian would have just killed me on that day."

"Kid-"

"I wish I would have died… I was too weak to defend myself again. And it could have been Ren or Nora instead of me. But now it doesn't even matter. They both left me and now all I can do is regret living."

"Shut up."

"Excuse me?"

"Shut up. It's a gift that you're still alive. You should be grateful that your breathing ,and try to focus on that instead of your personal loss. We all lost something when we fought that night."

"None of you lost your ability to walk." Jaune growles.

"That's true but I lost an eye. And others lost ones they loved." Qrow counters with a growl

"YOU ALL LEFT ME!!" Jaune says losing it. He wanted so much to be like Pyrrha, to be calm and forgive… to accept this and learn to live with it, but he was not Pyrrha.

"YOU ALL RAN AWAY AND LEFT ME HERE!" he yells angrily as the tears start to come down his face. "YOU ABANDONED ME! I STAYED HERE CRIPLED AND UNCONSCIOUS! WHILE YOU ALL LEFT FOR DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD! AND NONE OF YOU EVEN ASKED HOW I WAS DOING! YOU STILL GET TO HUNT! TO HELP! TO FIGHT! BUT I CAN'T EVEN WALK! YOU RESTARTED YOUR LIVES AND LEFT ME BEHIND IN THE DUST LIKE A BROKEN TOOL!!

Even my partners left me alone." he says letting his rage against them grow quite as the tears turned from hatred to sorrow. "I feel so alone." he says through his tears.

"You're not alone, kid. I promise I won't abandon you. Even if your friends did leave." he says comforting Jaune as he continued to cry, the sorrow and rage he had built up against them finally letting loose in a torrent of pain. And it felt good.
