Chapter 7 - Together we'll rise, Together we'll stand

AUTHOR NOTE:

So this is Chapter 7, welcome!

The title comes from the Five For Fighting song "All For One" I have loved Five For Fighting since I heard "100 years" in the JAG finale and many people will recognise "All For One" from Hawaii Five-0 which is a sorely missed show for me. I was stuck between a few lyrics for the title but ultimately decided against "We'll always be, One for all and all for one" and "Battles we've had, Love we have lost, Dreams we have shared" choosing which lyrics was just the greater of 3 greats!

Third person POV

Kensi leads Deeks to her rental car which was a black HSV GTS Maloo. She drives (obviously) to the restaurant, they get out of the car and Deeks stops when he sees the team waiting. "Are you happy Deeks?"

Deeks turns to face Kensi "Of course I am! This is all I've ever wanted; a family, a wife, someone to give my heart to who accepts me for me, but I'm just worried, it's awkward." Kensi walks around the car "It doesn't have to be awkward, they won't talk about it if you don't. We are happy Deeks, we are happy together, isn't that enough?" She says "You're right Fern, you are always right." Deeks says, giving Kensi a quick kiss on the cheek as they head inside.

Sam sees them first as they walk in hand in hand, he stands up giving Deeks a quick hug and Kensi a kiss on the cheek. "How are our 2 lovebirds?" He jokes. Deeks pulls up his and Kensi's intertwined hand's, giving Kensi's a quick kiss, before presenting the ring. Nell jumps up screaming "Let me see! Let me see!" She pushes Sam out of the way to get to Kensi who is blushing.

"Oh Kensi, it's gorgeous." She turns to Deeks giving him a quick hug "You have done so well with that ring!" Deeks smiles "Thank you, Velma." Kensi and Deeks, both laughing, sit down at the table.

Deeks turns to Callen after ordering a coke from a nearby waiter, "So Callen, you are my new boss!" Callen laughs "I wouldn't worry about that Deeks because right now you have your hand around the waist of my little sister," Deeks quickly jumps back away from Kensi, making everyone laugh "and when we get back to LA, we'll be training you."

Deeks hides behind Kensi's shoulder "Protect me from them, please Princess!" Kensi runs her fingers through his hair before stage-whispering "I don't know if you've forgotten but I'll also be training you!" Deeks groans banging his head on the table "Come on!" He mumbles, Kensi dips her head to whisper in his ear so no one can hear them "But if you behave well, I may just give you a prize." At this Deeks' head shoots right up.

The NCIS team eats, laughs and chats 3 hours of the day away before heading out to the beach. Callen heads to the surfboard hirers and gets one for Deeks, Eric, Nell, Kensi and another spare. Sam helps him take them to where the group has set up on the beach.

Kensi lies next to Deeks with her head on his shoulder, both in their swim gear. Deeks breathes in her hair loving the scent that has recently become his while he looks at the surfboard. Kensi leans up and whispers in Deeks's ear "Don't you want to surf?" Deeks kisses Kensi's hair before replying "I don't want to leave you."

Kensi stands up, pulling Deeks with her "How about you teach me?" Deeks grabs the board and drags Kensi out towards the sea. They swim side by side until Deeks determines that they are far enough out, he pulls himself and Kensi up onto the board.

They sit there enjoying each others company and the calmness that comes with the waves. "I could stay here forever" Kensi whispers. Deeks wraps his arms around her "We could but then the team would miss us!"

Just before Kensi replies, Hetty's voice comes out of nowhere "Are you going to come back to the beach soon-to-be Mr and Mrs Blye-Deeks?" Kensi whips her head around to see Deeks "How does she know about the surname decision? We didn't say anything."

Deeks shrugs "Hetty's Hetty! I think we should be focusing on the fact that Hetty can surf... since when can Hetty surf?" Kensi just shakes her head. Deeks slowly pushes her further down the board, "How do you feel about having a chariot ride courtesy of a shaggy, handsome blonde?" Kensi smiles and nods.

After safely surfing them both back to shore Deeks runs up to where the team's sitting "Since when can Hetty surf?" He almost shouts. No one replies but they do laugh when he jumps away from Hetty's voice "I am a woman of many talents Mr Deeks."

The team sit in the sand enjoying the peace and quiet away from the busy lives they lead saving the world. "You were right in your letter Deeks." Sam tells Deeks quietly, "What do you mean?" Deeks asks confused "In the letter, you left on my desk you said you wouldn't return as LAPD liaison Detective Deeks, you're not, you're returning as Special Agent Deeks." Deeks smiles contently "Yeah, I guess I am!" Sam gently pats Deeks' shoulder as he says "You earned it, you've earned it a hundred times over." Deeks looks down at the now sleeping Kensi "Thanks Sam, it means a lot."

So that was Chapter 7!

Don't ask me why I chose the black HSV GTS Maloo for the car, it just seemed like something a civilian beach going Densi would have!

This was the only chapter I wrote without song ideas in mind and when it came to editing and reading through I still couldn't think of any songs, a part of me wanted to leave it without songs because it was easier but I pushed through and read and re-read this chapter until I got an idea but I couldn't think of more than these 2 songs and even then they didn't fit as well as I wanted them to.

The first song is from INNA's 2020 album "Heartbreaker" which I love sooooooo much!

The last song is Stevie Appleton and Sam Feldt's cover of the Phil Collin's song "Paradise", I seriously recommend checking it out.
