Mouse Guard
(Greetings fellow readers and welcome to a new chapter of my Mouse Guard series. Our mice heroes just defeated Cluny the Scourge and are heading to the Kingdom of Dor. However, they'll head for a little detour when a storm broke out. What happens then? Let's find out. I don't own Mouse Guard; it belongs to David Petersen. I don't own Romeo & Juliet; it belongs to William Shakespeare. Sealed with a Kiss belongs to Phil Nibbelink. Yes, I know the movie was bad since it didn't follow the original source material, but this story will and it'll have blood and death in it. Your desecration is advised. Anyway, without further delay, on with the show!)
Mouse Guard: The Seal Lovers of Lone Oak Chapter 1: The storm
The Guard Mice travel to the land of Mossflower where they battle Cluny the Scourge and his army. With the help of a notice turned Warrior of Redwall, they defeat the evil fend and his army was ground to dust. Now, they travel to a new land to a kingdom name Dor. However, trouble was brewing on the horizon.
It's been about a week since Matthias slain Cluny the Scourge and freed his home of Redwall from the rat's evil grip. Since that day, his name and his deed had spread all across Mossflower. And right now, he's on a ship along with his girlfriend Cornflower and his friends, the Mouse Guard, sailing to a new location.
"Isn't this exciting Matthias?" Cornflower asked as she remove her scarf to feel the salty wind on her fur.
"Indeed." Matthias said to Cornflower with a smile. "This is the first time we venture outside of Mossflower."
"I think we're the first creatures to go outside Mossflower." Cornflower admitted.
"Aye." Saxon said to the young mouse in agreement. "You two are very lucky." The red-cloaked guard mouse said as he smiled.
"Aye. It's not everyday someone from Mossflower journey outside the boundaries of their home." Richard also said.
The rest of the Guard are either working around the ship or minding their own business with Lieam looking at a star chart with Kenzie naming each constellation. Sadie is honing her skills as she thrust and slice invisible enemies. Gwen is securing a few ropes on the mast with Twilight assisting her. Edward and Remy are mending a sail. Nicolas is looking at the horizon with the spyglass while Sienna is at the wheel.
"When would we arrived at our next destination?" The Warrior of Redwall asked.
"If the wind keeps up, we'll be in the kingdom of Dor in 3 to 4 days at the latest." Nicolas answered.
"I'm curious, what is this 'Dor'? Like a door in a building?" Matthias asked again.
"No, that's the kingdoms name." Richard said while chuckling.
"Oh." Matthias said. "So, what would we'll find in Dor?" The Warrior of Redwall asked.
"Glad you asked Matthias." Gwen said as she opens the journal, she borrowed from Lieam. She turns a few pages before stopping to one that talks about the kingdom of Dor as she reads the following, "Dor is the first human kingdom I come across. However, when I saw it for myself after coming ashore, the kingdom was dead. Not dead as in everyone died of an epidemic, but as in dull. I talk to a few of the locals and they told me that years ago, Dor was the most beautiful kingdom known for a holiday called Soap Day. The people call it that because the kitchen makes a grand soup for the royal family and for the people. They say you can smell the soup before you enter the harbor. Sadly, those days are long gone for one day, a rat fell in the queen's soup causing her to perish of a heart attack. The queen's husband King Phillip was broken by his wife death that he outlawed soup from the kingdom as well as the rats since one cause the queen's death. Since then, clouds gather over the kingdom and haven't left since that tragic day."
The mice are stunned by what Gwen just read. "Wait a second, the king banned soup because he lost his wife? That sounds silly." Saxon said.
"I agree with you Saxon, but King Phillip was broken up by the death of his wife which made him irrational." Kenzie said to the red-clocked mouse.
"Hard to believe a single rat cause that much damage." Cornflower said.
"Just because one rat did something bad, doesn't mean all of them are evil." Sadie said to the others. "Besides, we did know that not all rats follow Cluny the Scourge out of respect, but out of fear."
"Aye." Richard said in agreement. "And who knows, when we get to Dor, we can find this rat and ask him about his side of the story."
"That's not a bad idea brother." Gwen said as she smiled.
"Aye." Everyone said in agreement.
However, the conversation was interrupted when they heard a low rumbling of thunder in the distance. They turn to were the sound came from and saw a large storm cloud heading their way.
"Everyone to your stations!" Nicolas orders as the groups rush to their action stations and prepare to face the coming storm.
Soon, the clouds are right on top of the ship as it rocks back and forth in the waves and rain pour down hard. The Guards try their best to keep the ship in one piece as they secure the sails and man the pumps to keep the boat from overflowing with sea water. "This is the most intense storm I've ever witness!" Nicolas shouted over the boom of thunder as he keeps a tight grip on the wheel.
They continue to combat the weather for at least an hour or so as Nicolas try to maneuver out of the maelstrom.
Then trouble begin as Cornflower who was double-checking a line got swept up by a wave and ended up falling over the side.
"Cornflower!" Matthias shouted, seeing his girlfriend in danger. Sadie's sailor instinct kicks in as she grabs a rope and quickly wrapped it around his waist while Kenzie secure it on one of the belaying pins on the center mast.
"Go." Kenzie urged as Matthias jumps into the water and swam to Cornflower as the rope begin unraveling while Twilight, Richard, Edward and Lieam get ready to pull.
Matthias keep swimming for 5 minutes until he finally reaches Cornflower as she embraces the Warrior of Redwall. "Matthias!" Cornflower said as Matthias tugged the rope, signaling the others to pull.
The four mice pull with all of their might, carrying the two mice safely back to the ship.
"Thanks." Cornflower said to Matthias as Lieam handed her a blanket over her shoulders. "You're welcome." Matthias said as he smiled.
But the celebration is short-lived when a new problem appears. Due to the heavy fog and rain, Nicolas couldn't see a small group of sea rocks in front of them until the last minute.
"Everybody brace yourselves!" Nicolas shouted just as the ship slammed into the rocks. The force of the impact causes everyone to fall overboard, leaving their fates unknown.
The storm soon stops as the clouds parted, revealing a small island with a lonely oak tree on the highest point in the island. Wherever the Guards and the hero of Redwall are at, they are now stuck on this island.
(A/N: There you have it. The first chapter of the new Mouseguard story is complete. Sorry it took so long. But good things come to those who waits. Look like our heroes are now shipwrecked on island with a tree on the top of the hill. What is the island and is it deserted or inhabited? The answer will be in the next chapter. But no promises to when I'll get started. As always, don't forget to read and review. And Happy Holidays!)
