Stoick walk around the village helping the villagers when they needed advice on problems while Gobber looked after baby Hiccup.

Gobber sat down with Hiccup on his knee rocking him showing him parts of the Forge when Ingrid stop by carrying Astrid and smiles "how is Hiccup today?"

Gobber smiles "he's good, but has a sense of understanding faster than anyone could understand anything."

Ingrid curious ask "what does that have to do with Hiccup?"

Gobber sighs "it means that Hiccup was born with a gift from the gods."

Ingrid ask "what gift?"

Gobber smiles "Hiccup was born with more brains than any of us ever born with."

Ingrid sighs "if he was born with more brains than anyone was when they were born, that would mean that Hiccup was born as genius."

Gobber sighs "that gift will only cover the problem with his life problem."

Ingrid sighs "what problem would that be?"

Gobber sighs "he lacks physical strength, that normal babies have."

Ingrid sighs "how is Stoick handling being an only father?"

Gobber sighs "he's struggling with it. He has no idea on how to be a parent."

Ingrid sighs "all we can do is help him out when we can."

Gobber sighs "I'm afraid of what would happen to Hiccup in the future."

Ingrid curious ask "what do you mean by that?"

Gobber sighs "I'm worried about how the villagers will treat Hiccup."

After two hours, Hiccup cries for something. Gobber stopped beating on a sword and turns to Hiccup wondering why he's crying for.

Hiccup rubs his stomach trying to say hungry.

Gobber curious ask "are you hungry, Hiccup?"

Hiccup nods his head yes.

Gobber carries him to his house to feed him a bottle.

He sighs "I'm surprised he could communicate as a baby and the other babies just cry for things."

Night time came before Stoick returned home from taking care of the village "uh, another long day of cleaning up the village after a dragon raid."

Gobber smiles "ready to take care of Hiccup for the rest of the night?"

Stoick sighs "yes. I hope he wasn't any trouble for you."

Gobber smiles "nope, not any trouble at all. But he has a gift from Odin himself."

Stoick curious ask "what gift, did Odin give him?"

Gobber smiles "Odin gave him a gift of a genius. He can communicate as a baby and when he's older he would become a good strategist in fighting and a good leader as Chief."

Stoick sighs "that is all very convincing, but he's just a baby hiccup. It's going to get harder doing this without Valka around."

Gobber sighs "I miss her to, friend, but you have to take care of Hiccup now. He will need you more."

Stoick sighs "I don't think I can handle taking care of Hiccup and the village at the same time."

Gobber sighs "what do you plan on doing with Hiccup?"

Stoick sighs "if it comes between the villagers and Hiccup, I think I would have to choose the villagers over Hiccup because taking care of Hiccup is a girl's job."

Gobber gasped at his statement and ask "you would sacrifice your love for Hiccup to take care of the villagers?"

Stoick sighs "I know it's a bad choice to make, but even though he's my only heir, I can't care for him at the same time as caring for the villagers."

Unknown to them, Hiccup heard what they said about him and sighs in sadness thinking about what his father said. He starts trying to move his limbs and before he knows it, he's crawling around the house and out the door of his house with tears running down his cheeks.

He crawled down the steps, through the village until he finds a formilar house that he thinks is the Hofferson's house and scratch the door with his hand and crying.

Ingrid was feeding Astrid a bottle when she hears a baby crying and ask "uh honey, could you find out who is crying at the door?"

Alistair smiles "sure, dear" and goes to the door and opens it to see baby Hiccup on their door step and ask "Hiccup? What are you doing here? How did you even get here?"

Ingrid carries Astrid in her arms and walks to the door to see Hiccup crying and ask "what happened?"

Hiccup points to Alistair and then point towards the houses around them and then to Astrid, then turns away from them like they didn't matter anymore.

Alistair sighs "what is he trying to say?"

Ingrid sighs thinking of what Hiccup did with his hand motions and says "I think Stoick mention that the villagers mean more to him than his own child" and ask "was there more, Hiccup?"

Hiccup nods his head and points to her husband and points to Astrid and shakes his head no. Then points to her and Astrid nods his head yes.

Ingrid scowls "why that man of a Chief!"

Alistair ask "what is it?"

Ingrid sighs "Stoick told someone that raising a child is a girl's job only and not a guy's job."

Alistair gaped at her "he said raising a child is a girl's job instead of a guy's job? And here I thought he would be a good father at raising little Hiccup."

Soon they hear Stoick yelling "HICCUP!"

Hiccup hides behind Ingrid's leg and clinging to it scared.

Stoick and Gobber look around the village until they check with the Hoffersons.

Gobber ask "Alistair, Ingrid, have you two seen Hiccup crawling around here?"

Ingrid smirks "you mean little Hiccup who is hiding from Stoick for what he said about trading Hiccup for the villagers or that raising a baby is a girl's job and not a guy's job?"

Gobber sighs "who told you that?"

Ingrid scowls "Hiccup told me in his own hand motions and pictures!"

Gobber sighs "I don't agree with his mind on worrying about the villagers more than Hiccup."

Ingrid sighs "I seen Hiccup's gift at work just now and I have to say it's unbelievable how smart he is."

Gobber smiles "yep, he is gifted from the Odin and we would be idiots to destroy that gift of him."

Soon Stoick came running up to them breathing hard "have any of you seen Hiccup?"

Ingrid smiles "you need to apologize to him for how you talked about him."

Stoick ask "what do you mean?"

Ingrid scowls "Hiccup told me everything about how you would choose the village over him and about raising a child is a girl's job and not a guy's job!"

Stoick sighs and bends down to Hiccup's level and says "I'm sorry, Hiccup for what I said about you."

Hiccup looks at him to see if he was faking it and turns away crawling inside the house and looking for a place to hide.

Stoick sighs "Hiccup? Hiccup it's okay son."

Ingrid sighs "you have no idea how smart your son is or how understanding he is or reading honestly about a person to tell the truth from a lie."

Stoick sighs "I don't know how to raise Hiccup by myself without having Valka around to raise him."

Ingrid scowls "is that how you think girls are good for?! Raising a baby?!"

Stoick sighs "you being a mother, you make it look easy raising Astrid and I can't even get him to sleep or nap."

Ingrid sighs "Stoick, being a girl, doesn't make them good with taking care of babies. It's guidance, understanding, patience and love that make a person, a parent figure."

Stoick sighs and nods his head "how can I make it up to him and where did he go?"

Ingrid smirks "if Hiccup doesn't want to be found, he try to hide the best he can from those he's scared of or sad."

They walk inside the house and look around the house until Ingrid smiles "oh Hiccup, I see your good at playing hide and seek" and giggles "but the main idea to the game is to" hearing Hiccup giggling at the fun of playing hide and seek and lifts a cover off him in front of the couch "remain quiet."

Hiccup nuzzles her chest. Ingrid smiles "it's easy to care for a baby, you just have to know what you're doing, Stoick."

Stoick sighs "I need Valka's help in raising him."

Stoick takes Hiccup home and sings him to sleep while rocking.

He sighs "this is a lot of work, taking care of Hiccup by myself."

Next morning Stoick gets up and goes upstairs to Hiccup's room to see him sleeping soundly and sighs "huh, I figure he would be up crying to be changed?"

Next minute Hiccup wakes up and sighs looking at his stuffed Nightfury dragon thinking about his mom 'being here without you, mom, won't take away the sadness of being welcome and unloved by your father or the villagers'.

Stoick smiles "hi son."

Hiccup looks at Stoick and nod in understanding knowing that he would always be second and the villagers first and hugs his toy closer to him.

Stoick sighs "uh Hiccup? How about me and you take this one day at a time?"

Hiccup nods his head a little bit.

Stoick changes his diaper and brings him downstairs to the kitchen to feed him a bottle, then takes him with to patrol the village and make sure it's running smoothly and peacefully.

Hiccup just accepted his life at how the villagers viewed him as a joke to their way of life. He missed his mom everyday feeling empty on the inside.

Stoick just raised him as a normal baby without showing much interest in imagining what Hiccup could do.

Gobber was curious about what Hiccup could do with his gift of genius.

Ingrid admire Hiccup's gift to communicate with his hand motions and would never turn him away to take care of him for Valka's memory.

Alistair sighs and support her choice to care for Hiccup in the dark.

Stoick decided to let Gobber deal with Hiccup while he dealt with visiting Berserker Tribe.

Gobber ask "are you sure you don't want to care for him right now?"

Stoick sighs "Gobber, I can't worry about Hiccup right now when I got Oswald coming here to go over the treaty between our tribes."

Hiccup sighs and sits down in the corner playing with his stuff Nightfury.

Gobber sighs "Stoick, one day, Hiccup's going to look at you and this village and say that he doesn't want no part of you or this village because of all the things he hears about himself. And when you want to make it up to him, he will just turn away from you because of the pain of loneliness that this village caused him."

Stoick sighs "that is a very good prediction of the future Gobber, but I don't believe it would come true that Hiccup would leave us behind."

Gobber sighs "okay, well when was the last time you fed him?"

Stoick smiles "this morning before I brought him here."

Gobber pulls out a bottle from a bag and begins feeding Hiccup a bottle of milk.

After feeding Hiccup a bottle of milk, Hiccup crawls back over to his corner and plays with his stuff Nightfury toy.

Stoick smiles "your much better caring for him than me."

Gobber sighs "Stoick, raising a child is easy if you got advice from the mothers around the village."

Stoick sighs "it's just hard raising Hiccup without Valka around because I have to drop everything for him when something happens to him."

Gobber smiles "your supposed to drop everything for them when they need you."

Stoick sighs "I don't think I'm ready to be a father to Hiccup and handle running a village.

Hiccup pulls out a book on weapons types and draws letters in the dirt that matches letters in the book.
