Hiccup and Toothless flew far away from Berk heading west for about two hours before landing on an unknown island and decides to rest for the night.

He gets off Toothless and sits down looking at the ground "they turned their backs on me, Toothless."

Toothless croons softly in sympathy for his pain and claws in the ground 'I will never leave you, Hiccup'.

Hiccup sighs and gets up and goes look for firewood in the forest.

A half an hour later, he returns with a few sticks and sets them in a pile and has Toothless lite it.

As the fire burns, he decides to rest for a little bit.

Two hours go by before Hiccup wakes up feeling alone and depressed more than before.

He looks around to see he was sleeping in a bed in someone's house and sighs "this isn't where I fell asleep before.

A couple minutes later, a girl opens the door to see him awake and smiles "oh good, your awake from sleeping and don't worry your dragon is in the stable resting."

Hiccup sighs "I thought I was alone on this island and who are you?"

The girl smiles "you landed on the isle of Gaul and my name is Sophie and your name is?"

Hiccup smiles "my name is Hiccup and I'm a dragon rider."

Sophie smiles "why did you come here to our island for?"

Hiccup sighs "I was looking for a new home since I being mistreated on my old home and was betrayed by my father and ex-fiance."

Sophie gasped "that's horrible."

Hiccup sighs "if I could stay here with my dragon protector, do you have a Forge where I could work for a place to live in?"

Sophie smiles "you would have to talk to the Chief of this village and prove that your dragon isn't a danger to the village."

Hiccup sighs "okay then, say, uh what time is it anyways?"

Sophie smiles "oh you been sleeping for about two hours after I brought you into the healer's hut and I think you were sleeping about an hour before I brought you here. So I would say it's about seven o'clock at night and time for dinner too."

Hiccup sighs and gets up and follows her out of the healer hut.

Sophie curious ask "so what did your father and ex-fiance do to you?"

Hiccup sighs "my father signed a marriage contract with my ex-fiance's parents to marry me to an immature girl that didn't give a care about me being innocent in the destruction caused by her friends and everytime I tried to talk to her, she would have her friends beat me up and say she doesn't want to see until the wedding day."

Sophie gasped "what kind of horrible girl does that to a person?"

Hiccup sighs "it gets worse. She only agreed to it, if my father made her his heir instead of me. And I caught her telling another heir that she planned on divorcing me after the wedding and the heir ask for her hand in marriage and she I could never make a good husband or make her happy with anything I try to do for her."

Sophie notice that his eyes were watery and letting tears fall down his cheeks and wrapped her arms around him to comfort him "it's okay, you must have suffered alot."

Hiccup sighs "I ripped the marriage contract and wrote a letter to my godfather, the one who raised me since I was four years old."

Sophie gasped at that and ask "won't they come looking for you?"

Hiccup sighs "doesn't matter because I been suffering from depression since my mom was taken when I was about one year old."

Sophie gasped at that and ask "so how about your dragon protector?"

Sophie and Hiccup ate dinner with the villagers. Afterwards they left and went to Sophie's house since Hiccup had no place to stay for the night.

Hiccup smiles "thank you for letting me stay with you. Where are your parents at?"

Sophie sighs "they disown me after a boy and his friends lied to them saying that I slept with him after I told him I didn't want to date him."

Hiccup sighs "and they never took you back?"

Sophie shakes her head "no, they didn't even want me anyways. They wanted a boy instead of a girl."

Sophie sighs "well I'm going to head to bed, good night, Hiccup."

Hiccup smiles "good night, Sophie."

She leaves the room and heads upstairs to her room to sleep for the night.

Hiccup sighs "first day to starting a new life off of Berk."

(On Berk)

Next morning, Stoick woke up on his bed from a hangover to see his room trashed and ask "who trashed my room?!"

He looks around his room to figure out what they were looking for before he finds out that the marriage contract between his son and Astrid is gone "oh, no."

He walks out of his room and decides to check on his son in his room.

He walks upstairs to his son's room to see Hiccup gone but a book on his mattress and goes over to it and looks through it to see it's a drawing book of sketches that Hiccup drew.

Villagers, kids, three of Astrid, then realize he had a crush on her. Then sees drawing of baby Deadly Nadders, Terrible Terrors, a Terrible Terror named Sharpshot (from mom) a black dragon labeled my protector and named Toothless. Then drawings of committing suicide and ask "why would he draw sketches of committing suicide?"

He takes it with him after seeing his clothes gone and heads down to the Forge.

When he reaches the Forge, Gobber was sitting in his chair with a sad look on his face and ask "do you know where Hiccup is?"

Gobber sighs "he's gone."

Stoick sighs "I know that and someone trashed my room taking the marriage contract between him and Astrid."

Gobber sighs "no, Stoick. Hiccup left Berk on his Nightfury and left a letter explaining how you would sell your son to a horrible immature girl who thought nothing of him and trade him for Astrid Hofferson who doesn't deserve to be called your heir! Hiccup was suffering from depression because of her and this village."

Stoick sighs "actually, if he was suffering from depression, I think it went to extreme depression because he was drawing sketches of committing suicide."

Gobber gasped "Hiccup was thinking of committing suicide?"

Stoick showed him the book of drawings and says "I never took an interest in him and now I think I should have."

Gobber sighs "he ripped up the marriage contract between him and Astrid after she committed the escape clause."

Stoick ask "what escape clause?"

Gobber sighs and grabs the two contract parts and points to the the sentence that states: that the only way for the contract to be broken is if one of the subjects proves to be unfaithful and unloyal or admits to a dishonorable act."

He hands him the letter to read:

Dear Gobber

If your reading this right now, it should be morning now. The reason why I wrote this to you is to tell you goodbye. Living in Berk was horrible for me. No one gave a care about me. Tuffnut and Ruffnut caused destruction to Berk and put the blame on me and the other three know it, but didn't want to tell on their friends.

Stoick was going to replace me with a heartless girl that I used to have a crush on. She admitted to Thuggory, that after we got married, she was going to find a reason to divorce me and date Thuggory since every boy is better than me. She told him that I would make a horrible husband and could never make her happy with anything I did for her.

My mom sent a Terrible Terror watch over me after I turned ten years old and then the night the twins set the house on fire and put the blame on me, Sharpshot introduced me to an injured Nightfury who is my bonded dragon that I named Toothless.

Everyday, I tried to talk to Astrid but she told me that she never wanted to see me until the wedding day and would have me beat up for bothering her and at night, I would fall asleep in Toothless's paws crying myself to sleep. So I left to find a new home to live in. I trained Toothless and Sharpshot and I ride Toothless.

Tell Astrid that she is free from marrying me after I ripped the marriage contract.

Hiccup the Dragon Rider

Stoick sighs after reading the letter heads outside and yells "EVERYONE TO THE GREAT HALL! NOW!"

Everyone got up to the Chief yelling and headed to the Great Hall.

There, a villager ask "why did you summon all of us here?"

Stoick says in a stern voice "Astrid Hofferson, Snotlout Jorgenson, Fishlegs Ingerman, Ruffnut Thorston and Tuffnut Thorston, front and center!"

All five of them stood in front of him waiting for what he was going to say to them.

Stoick sternly asks "Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, is it true that Ruffnut and Tuffnut destroy the village with their pranks and put the blame on my son? And don't lie!"

Astrid sighs "yes, chief, it's true that Ruffnut and Tuffnut cause destruction to the village and we agreed to put the blame on Hiccup because hiccups are supposed to be treated like an outcast until they prove that they can be a Viking and kill a dragon.

Stoick scowls "and is that how you treat your ex-fiance?"

Astrid gaped "ex-fiance? He is my fiance!"

Stoick sighs and says "no, he broke off the Engagement to you because of our deal and your betrayal of planning to divorce him after the wedding and marry Thuggory or someone else because he would be a horrible husband and could never make you happy."

Ingrid and Alistair scowls "Astrid Finn Hofferson!"

Stoick sighs "Hiccup trained a Nightfury for five months since the night I signed the marriage contract with the Hoffersons. Hiccup was suffering from severe depression to draw sketches of committing suicide because of us and ripped up the marriage contract meaning that Hiccup and Astrid are no longer engaged to each other."

Ingrid gasped at the news and says "Astrid Finn Hofferson, I'm so disappointed in you and your friends! We have the right to disown you for the embarrassment to Hofferson's name and I think that Hiccup training a Nightfury is a good leader to be Chief. I don't care how you do it, but you will make it up to Hiccup and get him to marry you or you will stay being our disappointment."

Gobber sighs "actually she can't reengage herself to Hiccup because she dishonor herself to Hiccup by claiming that she planned on divorcing him after the wedding because he would make a horrible husband and could never make her happy with anything he did for her."

Alistair sighs "is there anything she could do to rehonor herself to Hiccup?"

Gobber sighs "the only way is for her to admit her deepest love for him to have him agree to marry her, but the problem is, your daughter had Hiccup beat up because he was forced to try and talk to her and at night, he cried himself to sleep in his Nightfury's paws because he showed up to work with his eyes red from crying.

Astrid whispers "Hiccup was planning on committing suicide because of me?"

Ingrid scowls "I should disown you, Astrid, but instead your grounded from seeing your friends until you can get Hiccup to forgive you for what you did to him and get him to marry you! Do you hear me?!"

Astrid whimpers "yes mom and dad."

Stoick sighs "when we find a possible location of Hiccup, me and the Hoffersons will go see him and bring him back to help us with the dragon raid."

(On Gaul)

Hiccup started working as their blacksmith and staying at Sophie's house in the guest room. He flew Toothless around Gaul, living his new life off Berk.

As he worked for the village making better weapons to help the villagers defend themselves from invading forces.

Some of the girls between fourteen and thirteen years old were watching him work the Forge and blush when he caught their sight of hunger for him.

Sophie would make them leave and go do their chores and apologize for them and bring him a fish filay and cooked perfectly for him at lunch time.

He was cautious about her doing this because of how Astrid treated him and twisted his mind to believing that he would make a horrible husband."
