A/N Hello everyone and Merry Christmas. I hope everyone is doing well. As promised I've done a Christmas story featuring Accelerator this time. I'll be honest, this one kinda fell away from me a bit. I thought I had a good premise of Accelerator going round and bumping into people on Christmas Eve but when it came to writing it didn't come out as well as I'd hoped. Nonetheless I still quite enjoyed writing it and still want to share it. So here you go. Enjoy.
Accelerator walked through the Christmas filled streets of Academy City. He hated this time of year. The decorations were over the top and the music which could be heard in every shop he walked into would be the same crap over and over again. Even when all he wanted to do was buy a coffee, he had no choice but to subject himself to that ear-bleeding catastrophe they called Christmas music.
It was currently Christmas Eve and there were couples everywhere enjoying the festivities throughout Academy City. Accelerator was wandering the city in an attempt to escape the headache that was Last Order and Worst having another fight, this time about whether or not they should burn down the Christmas tree. He was really hoping to have time to himself without any further headaches, but that wasn't going to happen as he began to hear two familiar voices approaching him.
"Hey, you were the one who started attacking me for no reason."
"I had a perfectly good reason. You pissed me off back then."
"How could I have possibly pissed you off?"
"Aww, you two are adorable, right Uiharu?"
There were two couples approaching him from in front. One consisted of a boy with black spiky hair and a right fist that he had been on the receiving end of too many times and a girl with a face he saw every day. The other couple consisted of two girls that he didn't know but appeared to be friends of the hero and the third-rate. One of them was taller and had long, black hair with a white flower clip on the side of her head. The other was shorter, with short hair and some sort of ridiculous flower headband. Accelerator briefly wondered what use something as ridiculous as that had. But the thought only lasted for a second as he realised, he didn't care.
The two couples seemed to be on some sort of double date, but Accelerator really didn't care about that either. There was a lot he just didn't care about in this city as it turned out. He just hoped they would walk by without noticing him, but it seemed like his luck was emulating that of the hero that was approaching him.
"What are you doing here, Accelerator?" The third-rate had stopped in front of him with an expression that screamed hostility. She seemed to be angry that he was even allowed to walk around freely which Accelerator thought was as ridiculous as her friend's headband. She looked as if she were about to start screaming at him which was odd, she never purposely stopped whenever they bumped into each other in the city. Maybe something had happened recently, and she needed to vent her anger on someone with Accelerator being the perfect target. She already hated him after all.
"What does it look like, third-rate? Walking about the city drinking my coffee." Accelerator replied matter-of-factly. He really was not in the mood to be dealing with the brat.
"Calm down, Misaka. We don't need to start a fight in the middle of the city." The hero was trying to calm her down, but the third-rate didn't seem to want to let it go as she glared at Accelerator with pure hatred. He knew why she harboured so much hatred towards him. The experiment he was part of involved killing twenty thousand clones of her in order to raise him to level six. He may regret taking part in that experiment now, but he still had taken part in it in the first place and that was enough to earn the eternal hatred of the third ranked Railgun.
Surprisingly, it was the two other girls that came to his rescue, although Accelerator would argue it was the third-rate who was rescued.
"Misaka? Is everything alright?" asked the long-haired one.
"Do you know this boy, Misaka?" asked the other one with the ridiculous headband.
The third-rate froze, it was clear she had forgotten that the two girls were still with them.
"Oh, it's nothing. Don't worry about it. Let's go to the restaurant before they run out of spaces. Come on Touma." She started dragging the others past Accelerator and out of view but just as she was passing him, she used her powers. She only used it for a second, but she managed to disrupt the signal being sent to Accelerator from the Misaka network. She couldn't access it, not without permission from Last Order but she could at least temporarily stop him from accessing it.
Accelerator started to fall but caught himself as soon as his connection to the network was restored.
"Tch. Damn brat." This was a new thing she had started doing. Whenever she saw him, she'd disrupt his connection to the network for a second. It was extremely petty, but she didn't seem to care, she just wanted to hurt him in some way just as some sort of revenge for what he had done. She knew she couldn't beat him in a fair one on one fight, but she could make herself inconvenient whenever they passed each other.
Accelerator continued his walk around Academy City forgetting all about his encounter with the two couples. He had come out here to get away from the bickering in Yomikawa's apartment, not to get into a fight.
And so, Accelerator went to find somewhere to drink the cans of coffee that were in the bag in his hand. The only problem is, with it being Christmas Eve, there were no quiet areas in Academy City at the moment, at least not anywhere near the shop that he went to buy the coffee. Therefore, he started making his way to the edge of the city, hoping to find some sort of abandoned building or something where he could drink in peace.
However, Lady luck appeared to have mistaken him for Touma Kamijou that day as he heard an extremely irritating voice. One that usually made him want to kill something. It did this time too.
"Yo, Accelerator. How ya doing, nya?"
Accelerator stopped in his tracks. His hand went to the choker around his neck and flipped the switch on. He then preceded to throw the empty can of coffee in his hand at the new headache with his powers. The blonde spiky haired boy wearing his green Hawaiian shirt and signature sunglasses known as Motoharu Tsuchimikado dodged to the right, hiding behind a tall woman with long, dark hair tied back in a ponytail. She was wearing a white top tied halfway down her torso exposing her navel and her blue jeans that only had one leg. This woman was Kaori Kanzaki, a saint that was part of Necessarius and the girlfriend of the spiky blonde-haired idiot that Accelerator was currently trying to kill.
"Zaky, protect me."
Kanzaki, having enough of Tsuchimikado's antics turned raising a leg and completing a roundhouse kick that connected with Tsuchimikado's cheek. She hadn't seen him do anything wrong but she had learned to assume that he had and acted accordingly.
"Must you always bother every single person we meet today?"
"But all I did was say hello." Tsuchimikado was holding his cheek with a look of intense pain. Kanzaki being a saint meant whenever she hit him, it hurt a lot more.
"Yeah, and that's annoying as hell." Accelerator answered clearly angry that he had to deal with another pest.
"Apologies, Accelerator. But we must leave now. We have a reservation to a restaurant near here." Kanzaki started dragging Tsuchimikado away who was still holding his cheek muttering to himself about Kanzaki breaking something on his face. Accelerator wanted to finish him off but decided the saint had this under control. He just hoped for her sake that it was Kanzaki that chose the restaurant and not Tsuchimikado. He deactivated his choker and started walking away.
After being interrupted for a second time, Accelerator continued on his search for a quiet spot. He eventually came across a metal bridge far away from anything else. He once again activated his choker and used his powers to jump to the top. He then sat down with his leg dangling over the edge and opened a new can of coffee, he had drunk a few already whilst walking around Academy City but he still had quite a few remaining. He spent the next few hours enjoying his coffee, as slowly as he could to prolong his alone time, and the peace that he had finally managed to find in this damn city.
But that peace was shattered with a massive flash of lightning hitting the ground not too far away from the bridge. He sighed knowing what ability that was and who the person firing it most likely was. He looked over to the spot where the lightning strike hit, next to the river and there she was, the third-rate. She was attacking the hero for some reason but that was a new addition to the list of things Accelerator didn't care about. It was a really long list.
With the two brats fighting down by the river, Accelerator decided that it was time to go home. He moved quickly so that he didn't have to deal with those two and started walking back to Yomikawa's apartment.
It took him a lot longer than he thought to get back and it was already getting dark. He got to the door and was about to open it when he heard a commotion coming from inside.
"Damn it. This is a damn mess. Worst, stop laughing and help us."
"Exactly! Shouts Misaka shouts Misaka, angry that you would do something like this and then refuse to help clean it up."
The only response to that was laughter. Accelerator walked into what could only be referred to as hell. The tree that was in the corner of the room was now black and he was surprised it was still standing having been burned to a crisp. Yomikawa, Yoshikawa and Last order each had fire extinguishers and were aiming them at the tree. Accelerator had no idea where they had gotten them from. Meanwhile, Worst was on the floor holding her sides and laughing so loud that he thought the two brats having their fight might have heard it from the river.
Accelerator sighed. He'd had enough and so went to the sofa, dropped down and went to sleep.
A/N So what did you guys think? What worked? What didn't? As always, any and all constructive criticism is fully appreciated. On my last story, people were asking about Mikoto's 21st. I hadn't actually came up with anything in particular for that but I will try to get a story for that at some point. Maybe for Mikoto's birthday which is 2nd May? There were a few things I wanted to try with this one. First was writing Worst character, even if it was only a few lines. I've only ever read the first volume of New Testament (I'm currently reading through OT and I'm on volume 10 so I'll get to reading the rest eventually) so I wasn't sure if she is really like this. The second thing I wanted to try was Mikoto being able to mess with Accelerator's connection with the network. I have plans for it in my next story. Speaking of my next story, it's going to be a multi chapter one. I've got a decent premise but I need to get an idea for bad guys and stuff so I may go quiet for a few weeks. But for now, Merry Christmas everybody. I hope all of you have a really good day.
