Hi everyone, Writer Iris here and this is my first fic of Lego Hidden Side. You may not know this Lego theme (it might end soon), but please check it out on Youtube (it's short, but has an enjoyable plot.) Anyway, hope you enjoy this fic.
(Note that this is a canon divergence, since I was looking for more story development in "Grave Situation" and I wanted to get this idea out.)
It was more than enjoyable to join a team that doesn't catch your interest at first, especially that you manage to reunite with someone you had recently lost, and that you finally make some friends in this seamlessly boring but now fun town.
But this was way too much to ask for.
The mission was simple as the rest he and Parker had so far, but this was more haunting than ever. Sure, Newbury had some quirks to it, but it seemed fine now that there was something for vlogging and ghost hunting, but this was no longer a laughing matter now.
Jack was now being dragged to the very lair that their enemies were planning their takeover at.
What bothered him most, however, was the very sharp temperature change in the portal. It obviously was unnatural, no surprise there, but the thoughts of being pulled to an alternate dimension and from the place he just got to know spiked that thought at terribly high levels.
He started to tumble all of a sudden. What was the idea now? Did the ghost who dragged him into the portal had started to toy with him now? Or was he being tussled through the long rift?
It was neither.
Jack felt the "floor" give out from right under him and the next thing he knew...
He was falling.
He wanted to scream, but nothing came.
The next thing he knew was nothing but a full-blown pain through his entire body as he blacked out.
Socializing was not her strongest skill, but she was trying to have that grow, and it was what got her here.
Parker was rushing through the regularly empty streets of Newbury on a bike, her mind only racking with the thought of getting to the lab and what had just happened minutes ago.
Knowing that she was not the best with talking to others, especially when her parents were super busy with their work and not having the time to talk regularly at family time, this was definitely a different case. She finally opened up to one of her friends, and the next thing she knew, her friend vanished and, at the worst level possible, their world was in danger.
Lady E. was now more than ready to leave the Hidden Side now, and her friend had just been taken by one of the ghost mistress' minions.
But she can't cry now. She had to act fast and get help. This is the world and her home to be fighting for.
As the Newbury High School came into view, Parker got off the bike as soon as she approached the front gates she had always known and laid the bike in the school's perimeter. It didn't take her long to rush into the school itself.
It was surely in the late hours, but the school was open for preparations for Halloween. The school staff were running back and forth through the lobby, arranging the decorations and getting the necessary items needed. Parker did not think about what was going on as she looked for the leader of the Ghost Hunters.
J.B was standing near the entrance of the west wing of the school, looking downwards to her phone as she was holding a box of flyers. It appeared she was scanning the school for ghost activity as it was her specialty. However, she did not expect the next event to come.
Parker rushed through the crowd, adrenaline filling her senses, and she did not even stop for a single second.
Finally, the teen came out from the crowd, taking sharp, ragged breaths as she trotted over to the Ghost Hunters' leader.
It did not take more than a second for J.B. to notice her first accomplice approaching her, and immediately noticed that something was wrong. Sensing the problem, she put down the box of flyers on a nearby table.
"Parker! What's wrong?"
"It was the ghosts... Jack...they - they took...!"
Parker's words ran out in an uneven pace, breathless and panicking. She was definitely scared, but was trying to keep her composure.
J.B. raised a brow in confusion, but placed a hand on the teen's shoulder to comfort her. Looking around, she noticed the school staff was starting to look at them.
"Parker, calm down. We should go somewhere else." J.B. led Parker down to the west hallway and into the cafeteria, but it turned out it was much busier than the lobby, so she had to walk towards the library.
"Alright, kiddaroo, what happened?"
"Back at the subway, after you called, Mr. Peterson was still gloomed, and - and he pushed Jack into the portal."
"What!?"
"A-And Lady. E, sh-she-"
"Alright Parker, I know. Come on, we should get Douglas and Spencer - wait, wasn't he with you two?"
Parker turned around, but there was no sign of the ghost dog.
"Where did he go?! He was with me when I left the subway station!"
J.B shook her head. "We have to act quickly! If Spencer's looking for Jack, we can plan ahead there, but he won't last long in the Hidden Side! We have to make this rescue quick, or Lady E will be on our heels."
Reluctantly, Parker nodded and headed off to find Douglas while J.B. rushed back to the science classroom.
That's Chapter 1! Thank you for sticking to the end here! I got this chapter completed much later than expected, but I did it!
So, some notes to make here:
(1) The handyman in the subway set is canonically named Pete Peterson. He did not appear in the animated series, but I'll feature him here for something coming next chapter.
(2)Like I mentioned above, this is a canon divergence, as I was looking for more story context, and it'll snap back to canon by the end of the story.
Anyways, that's all I have to say here. Even though this theme is Halloween-based, consider this my Christmas present to you! This has been a tough year for sure, but it will get better.
Have a safe Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, and I'll see you next time! Bye!
