5: Icicles
"Oh no! Not again!" Marinette exclaimed with exasperation as she stepped out into the garden.
The head designer at Gabriel was looking for her children, when she found them in the garden. A little blonde Emma looked very sheepish as she stood timidly watching the snow covered ground with her sapphire blue eyes. She toed the snow while her blonde haired, blue eyed twin brother was currently stuck to the icicles hanging off the gate by his tongue.
"What have I told you about licking the icicles Hugo!" Their Maman rushed towards the pair with a stern look in her features. "Emma sweetie, can you please go and get Papa and ask him to bring some cold water?" She asked as she crouched onto the white blanket of snow besides her worried son.
"Yes Maman," Emma ran towards the house in her bright blue wellington boots, being careful not to slip on the path like she did last time.
Marinette gently held her six year old son's shoulders while she urged him to relax and breath on the ice he was currently attached to. "Come on Minou," she rubbed his back as tears pricked in the corner of his eyes, "just relax and try not to pull until Papa gets-"
"Here," Marinette's ears perked up and she turned to see Adrien hurrying carefully over with a resigned smile at the scene and cup of water in his hand. Crouching down, her husband began to pour the water where the appendage was frozen. "Careful, a, little more~"
Marinette's hand continued to gently rub her young son's back as he was able to hesitantly pry his tongue off the offending icicle. "There we are," she smiled at Hugo first, then thankfully up to her husband. "Shall we head inside and warm up by the fire?"
Adrien nodded and stood up straight, offering a hand out to his wife to help her to stand. As she straightened up, her bump emerged from the confines of her coat.
"I' so'y Ma'a'," Hugo's big blue eyes looked up to her with guilt while he pouted, laying on the big kitten eyes, begging for forgiveness.
"Don't worry Kitten," both adults smiled down at him, each taking one of his hands in theirs. The trio walked to the house, where Emma waited in the doorway.
"Let's just not do it again tomorrow son." Adrien warned warmly as Hugo sulked up at him. He smiled at a chuckling Emma, unable to keep the amusement out of his voice, "and don't you go trying out the local delicacies either Kitten."
Emma giggled and her blonde locks bounced as they all took off their boots and coats, "don't worry Papa, I learned my lesson yesterday!" She replied cheekily, earning amused glances between her parents.
The adults chuckled while the children ran into the cosy living room and settled on the sofa in front of the fire. Grabbing a blanket, Adrien urged Marinette to sit while he draped the fabric over them all. Sitting beside his wife, the children nestled in together next to her as she put her arm around their shoulders. Adrien kissed her temple and tucked her hair behind her ear before rubbing her baby bump affectionately.
"This time next year will be Lottie's first Christmas he sighed lovingly while resting his cheek on her head. The two youngsters slowly started to fall asleep after the day's activities, affected by the warmth of the fire and surrounded by their parents' love.
Marinette smiled and turned her face to her husband's, "or Louis'," she nuzzled his nose with hers, "we can't be certain this Kitten is a girl."
"Plagg has his suspicions," Adrien smirked, kissing her lips as she pursed hers. He chuckled at her pointed, accusatory glare.
"He hasn't been in there has he?"
"No," The blonde tilted his head and cupped her cheek, bringing her face a hair's width from his. "Tikki did."
Before Marinette could express her annoyance at the invasion of her body, Adrien smiled with amusement as he captured her lips with his. Moving his hand to her nape he deepened the kiss before resting his forehead against hers. Gazing lovingly into her blue orbs, the ones their children had inherited from her, he bit his lip in a cheeky fashion.
"She was only making sure there was only the one in there this time Bugaboo."
Marinette relented and rolled her eyes fondly before snuggling against her husband. "I love this life of ours, I'm so happy that we finally shared identities."
"I'm just happy you were her, otherwise I would never have been able to choose between you both."
Marinette sighed as her body melted into his cradling arms, "yes, that was definitely something I would not have been able to do either."
"I love you my Purrincess," he whispered into her ear, kissing the sensitive skin of her neck.
"I love you too my Chaton."
