Hey!
I know that… I've already got two stories going on, and technically three, but I can do it! I can write three stories at once (since Truth Lovers is on hiatus while I figure out where I'm going with it).
Also, I just had to write this. Like, it wouldn't be enough to just write down the idea. I was itching to write it.
Anyway, let's get started!
Chapter One: My first day as a demigod
Piper:
I was wandering the silent streets of Manhattan. I didn't know the city well, and I was terrified. Not because I was lost, but because twenty minutes ago, everyone in Manhattan had dropped dead.
Or at least, that's what I'd thought, until I'd gone up to several of the motionless New Yorkers and found that they had a pulse. They weren't dead, but they were in a very deep sleep, and I knew I wouldn't be able to wake them up. I'd been in a car with my dad and Jane, and suddenly the car had stopped and they were asleep. I'd freaked out, ran out of the car, and screamed very loudly, but no one would hear me. No one was awake.
Except that suddenly, I noticed someone down the block. Someone that was moving, in fact, they were riding a horse. I did a double-take. The person was a teenage boy, and he was riding a horse with wings- a pegasus.
"Wh-who are you?" I asked him
"I would ask the same of you," the kid said. "I'm Percy Jackson. You must be a demigod, if you're not asleep, but I've never seen you before, so you must not be from camp."
"Camp?" I asked. "What camp?"
"Camp Half-Blood," the guy- Percy- said.
"Excuse me?" I asked. I did not like the term 'half-blood'. It was usually used as an insult to the fact that I was half Cherokee, and half white.
"A camp where children of the gods, who we call half-bloods, or demigods, can train." he explained. "It's the only safe place for demigods in the whole world."
"Wait- you're half god?"
"Yep. Why don't you hop on? I'll take you to our base."
And so I made a new friend named Percy Jackson. While they were flying to the demigods' temporary base, he told me about camp half-blood, and fighting monsters, and the titan war.
And that's when we found another lost soul.
It was a boy with curly hair, who looked incredibly surprised when we landed. In fact, his hair burst into flames, and he had to pat it down.
"Woah," Percy said. I couldn't blame him. "I've never seen a demigod with that power before."
"A what?" the kid asked.
"Who are you?" I asked. "What's your name?"
He looked a little hesitant, but finally he answered, "I'm Leo Valdez. Who're you? And what's a demigod?"
"I'm Piper," I said, "And I'd prefer not to share my last name, if that's okay."
Leo scowled, but he nodded. "I don't like telling people about myself, either."
"And I'm Percy Jackson," Percy said. "Demigods are children of greek gods and mortals. Basically, the greek gods are real, and along with them come the monsters, and the Titans, who we are currently battling."
"Umm…"
I laughed and helped Leo onto the back of the Pegasus, who's name I'd learned was Blackjack. Percy said, "let's go, Blackjack!" and we started flying, on the back of a winged horse, towards a temporary base for children of the gods who were currently at war with their grandpa, king of the Titans, Kronos.
If you're wondering, the day could get weirder.
Imagine standing in front of a blonde kid in armor. He's got a scar on his face, and he looks like… well, a teenager. Yeah, imagine standing in front of a blond teen with a scar on his face, wearing armor. The armor gives away the fact that he's a demigod.
Now imagine this teen looking at one of your new best friends with a cruel sneer on his fact. A moment ago, he could've been an ally, but now it's clear he's an enemy. And not just an enemy- an adversary.
Now, imagine that kid's eyes glowing gold.
And just when you think he can't get any creepier, he speaks in a voice that, quite clearly, doesn't belong to the blonde demigod teen.
You've just imagined what it was like for me to meet Luke Castellan for the first time.
Kronos didn't believe that Luke had any control over his body, but he was wrong.
So I got to see one of my new best friends, Percy Jackson, hand a cursed blade to his old friend.
And then I got to watch Luke Castellan kill himself.
Nice day, huh?
It didn't get much better.
Percy introduced us properly to his friends Annabeth and Grover. Then there was a meeting, in which Percy was granted one wish (it could be anything! Anything at all!).
He told them not to ignore their demigod children any more, and that they all had to be claimed by the time they were thirteen. Hephaestus, god of blacksmiths and fire, claimed Leo right then and there. He said, "The Valdez boy. Leo. He's my son."
I wasn't claimed there. No, my immortal mother decided to humiliate me in front of the entire camp, instead of just nicely claiming me in the throne room of the gods.
But we'll get to that later.
Percy was pulled aside by Hermes, the messenger god, and then by Poseidon, his dad. I had no idea what they talked about. I honestly wasn't sure if I wanted to know.
Soon after, all the mortals woke up. I called my dad and told him that I was at my new school (he seemed to find this very reasonable, even though I wasn't technically supposed to be going to a new school).
Me, Percy, and Leo, had a talk afterward.
"Look," Percy said, "I know this was a weird day to find out you're a demigod. Trust me, we don't spend all our time fighting wars. In fact, we spend most of our time at camp, which is where we'll be heading now."
"We friends?" Leo asked. Percy grinned.
"Definitely."
A/N: So, not a bad first chapter, huh? It's 969 words, which isn't too many. Future chapters will be longer, I promise. This was kind of just a starter chapter, because I needed to talk about the Titan War and explain how Piper and Leo got to Camp Half-Blood.
