"What are you doing with the wrapping paper, Prongsie?" Sirius asked, looking lazily over the back of the couch making James jump and almost drop said wrapping paper. "I don't remember you buying anything that needed wrapping."
"I don't want to discuss this with you," James replied, feeling his face heat up a bit. How did one tell their best friend that you were going to strip down and wrap yourself in wrapping paper and present yourself to their sibling that way? It wasn't something he truly intended to tell Sirius about at all. Or for that matter did he think that Sirius would want to hear about it at all. "Plus, I don't think that it's something that you would very much want to discuss either."
"I'm intrigued now," Sirius said, turning in his seat and looking over the back with his chin propped on the headrest. "You have to tell me now."
"Let's just say that I'm planning a special present for someone very special to me," James said, hoping he was being cryptic enough about what he was planning on doing.
"Come on, Prongs," Sirius said, letting out an annoyed sigh. "I won't tell Regulus what you got him for Christmas if you tell me. I promise."
James could already tell that Sirius was crossing his finger behind his back even before he said anything. He knew that the surprise would be spoiled if he even thought about telling Sirius.
"It's something that he's going to get a kick out of," James said, being even more cryptic about what he was doing.
"You do know I'm going to find out some way or another right?"
"But by that point, you won't ruin the surprise. I hope."
Without another word, James walked up towards the room of the flat that he and Regulus shared. He closed the door and looked in the mirror as he started to undress. This was one of his best ideas for a Christmas present for Regulus. One that he was sure that both of them would enjoy a lot. He walked over to the four-poster bed that was draped in Christmas colors. Both because of the season and because red was a Gryffindor color and green was a Slytherin color.
He started slowly to cut strips of the plum and gold paper and started wrapping and tapping them around his arms and legs. Then he cut bigger strips to wrap around his torso after tying a bow around a certain area that he thought Regulus would find entertaining. Once his body was covered in wrapping paper, he slowly started to wrap himself in the roll of ribbon that Regulus had been using earlier to wrap James's present.
"He's going to love my present," James whispered to himself, moving carefully onto the four-poster bed so as not to destroy his wrap job on himself.
Regulus would be home from work at any minute now and he'd sure get the surprise of his life. James couldn't wait to see the look on Regulus's face.
James's eyes were just starting to drift close when heard the sound of footsteps approaching. He mentally cursed, however, when he realized that it wasn't just the sound of Regulus's light tread that was heading towards their room. It's was Sirius's more heavy tread that was coming towards him too.
"Are you kidding me?" James whispered under his breath as he prayed that Sirius would turn around and leave once Regulus reached the room they shared.
"James is here wrapping some sort of present for you, I think," Sirius was saying as James started to panic. "He was really excited and very cryptic about what it was. He only said that he thought that you would really enjoy it."
"Siri, don't ruin the surprise," Regulus said, turning the knob of the door. "This is why people don't tell you anything."
"I don't ruin surprises," Sirius replied in feigned shock. "I make them more dramatic and funnier than they originally would have been."
James could feel his face heating up as the door opened and his boyfriend of five years and his best friend walked into the room together. Everything went silent. Silent enough that you could hear a pin if someone was to drop one.
"Merry Christmas!" James exclaimed his face now cherry red as he tried not to look at Sirius.
Sirius didn't really help matters much. He was laughing so hard that James was very sure that he was going to have an accident if he didn't stop. But looking at Regulus's face and the smile that was stretched across it made all the mocking from Sirius worth it.
Regulus crossed the room quickly and leaned down capturing James's lips in a bruising kiss. All the pent up longing and love that they felt for each other was poured into the kiss.
"Padfoot," James panted when he and Regulus broke apart for air.
"Yes, Prongs?"
"You might want to leave now. I think Regulus wants to open his present now. Don't you, love?"
Regulus started pulling at the ribbon and wrapping paper that covered James, making Sirius's eyes open wide.
"Make it stop!" he cried as he back towards the door, covering his eyes. "Please, make it stop!"
Regulus grinned at James, his eyes shining with love. "I love you so much, you know that right?" he asked, placing gentle kissing along James's collar bone as he slowly unwrapped the dark-haired Seeker.
"I love you too," James replied, pulling Regulus into a kiss as the ribbon fell away and Regulus began to tear the rest of the wrapping off him. This was turning out to be a very Merry Christmas, indeed.
I hope you all enjoyed Prongsie Present as much as I enjoyed writing it.
