Chapter 7

Later that night, Beck decided he'd turn down Willow's offer, and have he and Tori spend some time together at his place. After eating a lovely meal of Chinese food, they curled up together on the couch and watched whatever movie was on tv.

"Earlier today, when we were arguing with Jade, she said you lost the right to order her around when you left alone in a hospital. What did she mean by that?" Tori asked, about halfway through the movie.

"Uh, well, she, um." Beck stumbled over his words, unsure of what to say. He didn't want to lie to Tori, simply because he was a horrible liar, but he also didn't want to tell her the truth. What happened between Beck and Jade at that hospital was personal, and Jade would kill him if she ever found out he told Tori.

"Tell me what happened, Beck." Tori said, a little more demanding this time.

"I can't, Tori. What happened at that hospital is between Jade and I."

"Ok, that's fine, if you don't want to tell me, then I guess I'm just gonna go." Tori said, gathering her things, manipulating Beck into telling her so she'd stay.

"You do this every time, Tori. Every fucking time. It's getting annoying. Why can't you just accept the fact that I'm never going to tell you every little thing that's gone on in my life? There are plenty of things I want you to tell me, but I don't ask, and I will never ask. Do you know why? Because they're private things."

"Why can't you just tell me?"

"Did you just hear me? It's private. Between Jade and I. Nobody else knows about what happened and I'd like to keep it that way, and I'm sure Jade feels the exact same way." In all honesty, two other people did know, Ethan and Lori, but if he told Tori that, then he'd have to explain why they knew.

"It's fine that it's private, but if you won't tell me, then I don't see a reason for me to stay here. So, I'm going to go, call me when you're ready to talk. If you don't call me within the next 48 hours, you can consider us broken up." Tori gave her ultimatum, and then left immediately after, giving no room for debate.

Right about then, Beck had seriously wished he hadn't canceled on Willow.

Can we still do tonight? I was able to get out of spending time with my girlfriend.-Beck.

Beck texted Willow, hoping she'd respond with the answer he wanted.

Yeah, you can still come over.-Willow

Beck changed out of his sweats, grabbed his wallet and keys, and was off to Willow's apartment to do something he knew was wrong, but in that moment, he didn't care.

He was in and out of Willow's place within an hour, and back to his apartment and in bed by 10:45.

With Jade, her night had gone much differently than Beck's. When Jade got home from set, she discovered Austin had made her a nice dinner of salmon and wild rice, and had set it out on the small table. He was dressed in a nice button down and slacks, and was holding a single red rose.

"Babe, what's all this?" Jade asked, as she walked over to the small table where Austin was standing.

"I know you had a long day on set, and you're probably really tired, so I wanted to do something nice for you. I made your favorite meal, and I got a single red rose from the store because you said your favorite flower was roses, but you only liked to receive one at a time." Austin explained, handing her the rose. Jade happily expected and then gave Austin a small, but sweet kiss. They say down to dinner and Jade started talking about her day, leaving out the fact that her costar was her ex.

After they finished eating dinner, they did a some extracurricular activities, and ended up falling asleep together, wrapped up in each other's arms.

The next morning, things weren't so blissful. Jade woke up at 4:30am with overwhelming nausea. She threw up all of the previous night's dinner into the toilet around 5. Austin woke up just a few moments later, hearing her loud heaves, and rushed to be by her side.

"Are you ok, babe?" Austin asked, concerned, as he sat beside her and rubbed her back.

Jade emptied everything from her stomach, before sitting back on her heels and leaning against Austin.

"I think I just ate something bad. The catering on set yesterday was questionable at best. It's probably just food poisoning." Jade said, almost as if she was trying to convince herself that this was true. She was seriously hoping it was only good poisoning.

"Do you want to stay home today?"

"Yeah, I probably should. I'll call the producer once I'm done in here. You should go back to bed. I'll be out in a little bit."

"Ok. Just let me know if you needed anything." Austin said, as he pressed a small kiss to her temple, got up, and went back into the bathroom.

Jade slowly got up and flushed the toilet, and then brushed her teeth. As she put away her toothbrush and toothpaste, she noticed the unopened box of tampons.

Wasn't that supposed to come three days ago? She asked herself, referring to her period. Why am I late? I'm never late. I'm not pregnant, right. So many thoughts ran through her head as she started at the box of tampons. Unfortunately, after breaking out of her trance of staring at the tampon box, her gaze shifted to a box that was a whole lot scarier: a box of pregnancy tests. She'd bought them when she and Austin first started dating, just because she thought it would be a good idea to take a pregnancy test everyone once in a while, as long as she was sexually active. She'd already had one accidental, unknown pregnancy with Beck, and she'd be damned if she had another.

As she stared down at the box of pregnancy tests, so many more thoughts went through her, including one she never thought would: I never want to have kids with anyone but Beck.

Acting purely on impulse, Jade plucked one of the pregnancy tests from the box. She took a moment of consideration, before she decided to take it.

After she'd peed on it, she put the cap back on and set it on the counter to wait for the results. She sat down on the closed toilet lid and stared at the piece of plastic, as if she was willing it to show her the results faster. After waiting the instructed three minutes, she flipped the test over.

It was...
