Thank you those for choosing to read my story, I promise this chapter is not one to miss. Enjoy...

{Clary's POV}

I stared at my mirror in disbelief. Amatis wasn't kidding when she told me not to wreck this gear. It was beautiful in the way that a stele drew runes.

The curve of the leather fit perfectly to my body. The gear was black with bold lines of gold twisting around the jacket. When I finally took in my whole self, I noticed I looked a lot like my father. In the way that my face was set.

But those green eyes. They were my own, giving me my own piercing gleam.

Snapping myself out of my reverie, I snatched up my boots and laced them up to my knees, these too had twists of gold woven into. With one last look in the mirror, I pulled up the hood of my jacket and left the room. I headed down the corridor towards the weapons vault.

As I stepped inside I noticed Amatis leaning against the table in the middle of the room. She noticed my entrance and looked me up and down with her deep blue eyes and smiled to herself.

"Never looked better Clarissa. That gold and black suits you"

"This is your best design yet Amatis" I responded. But I didn't want to get caught up in chit chat about my outfit, I was here for a purpose.

"Amatis, pass me some seraph blades and 3 throwing knives" I requested without any hesitation. But to my surprise she only handed me the 3 throwing knives, one in each boot and one on my weapons belt.

"Did I stutter?"

"No Clarissa. But your father has requested that you take a different weapon of choice tonight."

My eyes looked at Amatis in confusion, father had never cared for what weapons I used, as long as they got the job done.

"Why-"

I was rendered speechless as she pulled out from behind her two of the most deadly blades I had ever seen, both with the Morgenstern Star drawn on the hilt.

"These are Heosphoros and Phosphorus, the swords of the Morgenstern bloodline. He wanted you to take one with you tonight." Amatis explained.

I examined both of them in wonder, they were carved perfectly. But the blade Heosphoros gleamed in my eye. I took it out of her arms and held it firm in my grip, that sensation of warmth and power erupted through my body. This was no ordinary weapon.

I could feel the blade thrumming in my grasp, as if it were prepared for battle and would give me what I would demand of it.

I glanced up at Amatis as I sheathed Heosphorus into my belt, she nodded at me and moved to face the map on the wall.

Pointing to an abandoned hotel, she told me "This is where we believe your target will be, and your aim of the mission is to gather information by force if necessary but not reveal who you are or anything about your father. The target's name is Hodge Starkweather. Clear?"

I gave her a quick nod before using my stele to draw out one of my portals, as soon as it opened to me I stepped through. Closing my eyes to visualize the hotel Amatis had shown me.

{Jace's POV}

I had changed into my fighting gear and was heading to the training room to retrieve my seraph blades, when I ran into my mother in the corridor. Which I doubt was an accident.

"Oh Jace, you look so much like Stephen when we were younger and going out on missions. Promise me you will be careful, won't you? Hodge can be a slippery character, I knew him very well once. Do not underestimate him!"

"Calm down mother, dad will be right there with me anyway. Besides - I doubt this Starkweather could take me on anyway. Need I remind you again that I graduated top of the Academy?" I replied with my usual confidence displaying itself.

Mother simply rolled her eyes at me and said "You look like your father, but all that cocky attitude you inherited from me" followed with a gasp of exasperation.

Over my mother's shoulder I could see Alec heading to retrieve his bow and quiver. And before my mum could try and give me another pep talk, I gave her a peck on the cheek and bolted past her.

As I caught up to Alec in the training room, I flashed him a devilish grin and slid 2 seraph blades into my belt with one dagger inside my jacket.

"You ready Herondale?" came Alec's voice as he was retrieving his quiver.

"You know me Alec, born to be badass" I replied with my joking wit - receiving a giggle from Isabelle who was walking across the room with Jon.

"I always thought your motto was born with a bighead?" came Izzy's sassy response, she was just about the only other one with the same humor as I, and that was rare indeed.

Before I could fire back a response a commanding voice grabbed the attention of us 4. My father.

"Jace, Alec, Izzy, Jon. I hope you are all geared up with your weapons. We are heading out now, we have a warlock ready to portal us into Starkweather's location. Let's move" came the authoritative voice of my dad, Stephen.

My father then looked straight at me, questioning me with his eye. I gave him a quick nod, it was going to take more than Hodge Starkweather to put me off a mission.

"Alright, Magnus. Portal us through."

And so we all stepped through the portal landing outside an abandoned hotel

{Clary's POV}

As I crept up the emergency staircase on the outside on the building I considered using my witchlight, but that would draw too much attention. Besides, my night-vision rune was working perfectly.

I had reached the top, where a door read 'EMERGENCY ESCAPE' and with one kick, busted the lock on the door and it swung open hitting the wall with a loud bang.

Cautiously, I prowled inside scanning the room for any signs of movement. So far all clear.

The second I thought those words out of the corner of my eye I saw a flicker of movement. Sliding one of my throwing knives out of my weapons belt, I stalked slowly over to where I had seen the movement.

I passed through the doorway to what must have been a study. All of a sudden I felt a cold, sharp pressure on my throat. Someone was holding a knife to it.

"Who are you" came a harsh, male voice from behind me.

"Your worst nightmare." where the words I spat out at him.

At the same time as saying these words, I kicked my leg back with full strength and ducked under the knife around my neck. To see the man stumble slightly at the unexpected impact of my boot. Not many people expected a 5"2 girl to have as much strength as I did - it was something I used to my advantage.

As the man staggered he fell into a patch of moonlight, and I instantly recognized him as my target, Hodge.

Just before I pulled out Heosphorus, the man bolted out the window and flipped himself up. Landing on the roof I assume. I mimicked his movements, placing my hands on the top of the frame and swung my legs upwards so I ended up facing the City of Manhattan.

Swiftly turning around I saw Hodge not 3 metres away from me, prepared to strike with a pair of chakrams.

Yet before he could get a shot in I threw one of my knives into his side, leaving him with a deep cut in his lower abdomen. Careful to not knock him out, I kicked him hard in the chest, forcing him to fall to his knees.

"Now Starkweather. I think it's time we had a little chat don't you?" I asked in my monotone voice.

Sorry to leave you on a Cliffhanger like that, just couldn't help myself.

Next episode will be up very soon, please leave a review of what you think of Clary so far.
