Christmas was around the corner and Lena was feeling even more lonely than usual. She had gotten used to living alone and not having the family she wanted so badly. And mostly she was fine with it. Lena knew that her life had improved beyond imagination ever since Kara and her friends and family had come into her life. The CEO was more grateful for Kara's friendship than she could ever put into words. She had tried to tell Kara that a couple of times but she still thought that the Kryptonian had not yet really grasped the true importance she held in Lena's life. Not because Kara did not take Lena seriously but simply because, for Kara, what she did and who she was, was entirely normal. To Lena, she was the light to the darkness that lived inside her.
Now, gazing out into the night and watching thick snowflakes create a fluffy blanket on the balcony outside her office, Lena's heart yearned for spending time with her friend – maybe taking a walk in the park and watching the Christmas lights, talking about all kinds of things and then returning to her or Kara's apartment to warm up, have dinner and a drink and spend a nice evening talking or watching a movie together. But then reality caught up with Lena's wishful thinking and she shook her head, heaving a deep sigh.
To be continued…
