Movie Night
"Uh uh, turn it off," Casey said as he entered the living room.
Kelly looked up from the TV and saw Casey grabbing for the remote to change the channel and asked, "What's wrong?"
"We're not watching 'The Grinch' again."
"Why not?"
"Kelly, you watch it every night."
"It's on TV, it's easy to find," he said as if that was an explanation.
"We've seen it 12 times already this month," Casey said.
"What's wrong with that?" Kelly asked.
"It's only December 8th."
"It's that good."
"I know, but I'm sick of it," Casey told him.
"How could anybody get sick of it?"
"Well I am," Casey said as he sat down on the opposite side of the couch and flipped through the channels, "Tonight we're watching something I want to see and it's not going to be 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'."
"So what're we watching?" Kelly asked.
"I don't know yet," Casey answered.
"Spoil sport."
Casey scrolled through the channels and finally stopped at something that caught his interest.
"'Gremlins'."
"That's not a Christmas movie," Kelly said.
"It is too."
"Is not."
"Is too."
"Is not."
"Is too, it's set at Christmas," Casey replied, "and we're watching it."
"Fine," Kelly conceded.
A few minutes into the movie, Casey found himself using all his self restraint not to respond as he felt something poking him and heard Kelly humming the 'Gremlins' theme music in a higher pitched tone that sounded similar to the demonic little creatures themselves.
"You can do that all you want, I'm still not putting 'The Grinch' back on," he said in a deadpan tone, struggling with all his might to maintain a straight face and not start laughing.
He heard Kelly grumble deep in his throat as he pulled back. "You're no fun."
